About this house rental

A storybook setting on a wooded hill, this two story timber house with a walk out ‘kid’s zone’ basement living and sleeping area, is the perfect setting to get away from it all. Walking distance from Bass Lake (an all sport lake) and less than a mile to three Lake Michigan public access parks or beaches make this the ideal location for a family get away (see map). There are four upstairs bedrooms, one first floor bedroom and an open children’s bedroom in the basement level so it will sleep a total of 16 people. There is a full bathroom available on every floor of our home.

The ten foot wide wrap around porch is an ideal place to sit and enjoy the morning coffee or to sit in the breeze and talk with family and friends. This is a very private setting and yet has all the amenities; cable TV, internet, landline phone service, pure reverse osmosis drinking water and full house water filtering system, microwave, new glass top stove, and washer and dryer.

The kids will love the game systems in the ‘kid zone’ living area and the whole family will enjoy evenings in the walkout screen porch on the lower level overlooking the fire pit area. The open concept living room, dining room and kitchen are ideal for entertaining. The classy antique décor of the timber house is delightful. Everything you need to enjoy your stay is available for you. A toaster, microwave, coffee maker, electronic tea pot, dishwasher, all dishes and pans, all linens and towels are available for your use. There is parking for two cars at the house and parking at the bottom of the hill for five more for your toys or cars, with total parking for 6-8 vehicles.

Whether it is walking the wooded trails behind the home, visiting the popular shopping and dining areas of Pentwater (five miles) and Ludington (10 miles), enjoying Silver Lake State Park (17 miles), or just relaxing on the porch on the wooded hilltop, everything for your family dream vacation is within reach.

The house was great with lots of room for family to be together but also have their own space. The wrap around porch with lots of seating was a highlight for many! The “yard” Is minimal beyond the fire pit but we were able to go to Lake Michigan each day for kids to run some energy out!

Very clean cabin with all you need for a comfortable stay. Lots of beds to choose from and the 3 bathrooms were just what we needed for our group of 8. (You just need to space out your showers as the hot water ran out.) We loved reading the history of the place and appreciated the wall hangings, photos, and furniture there. Jim and his family did great job fixing up the place!

We celebrated 55th weddibg anniversary, 2-75 th birthday, 16 th birthday, and two other wedding anniversary. Went to three different beaches, and played around the campfire. Great time.

The house is great in every way. We ate every meal out on the wrap around porch. So close to Lake Michigan at both Pentwater and Ludington. Some golfed. Some shopped. Played corn hole. We took our own. All went to the Lake Michigan beach at the hidden gem of a small township park just five minutes away by car. We all ate too much! Want to do it again!!

Our family all got together for a vacation in Michigan and chose this property to rent. The owner was responsive to questions, and the cabin was perfect for us. We did fires in the firepit making smores, caught fish in Lake Michigan and grilled them on the grill, cooked other meals, did the local attractions. The beaches in the area are great, there's plenty to do within a one to two hour radius of this massive cabin. 10/10, would recommend.

The house is located with easy access to Pentwater and close to the highway when you want to explore a little further. The house was perfect for us with bedrooms / bath on each of the three levels. Kitchen was well supplied and the wrap-around porch was maybe the favorite spot! But the best part of all was the ease of communication with the host. We had the access information a few days ahead of time just as we had been advised. It was reassuring to know that we were clearly "all set" before even leaving home. (that hasn't always happened in the past) Had a couple minor issues come up while we were there and Jim was easy to reach and pleasant to speak to. Definitely recommend!!

Overall, the stay was great. We had to contact the owner a few times, and he was very responsive to our call. The house can accommodate a large group, but there is plenty of space inside and out so that you are not stepping on each other. Really enjoyed the woodsy setting too. It was great sitting out on the covered porch. Highly recommend.

This cabin exceeded our expectations! Nice location - close to various spots on Lake Michigan, downtown Pentwater, and Ludington. The cabin was clean, had fast internet, had every kind of dish/pot/utensil you could ever need. Baby friendly with a high chair and step stools. Plenty of blankets, pillows, towels. Beautiful wraparound porch with lots of seating. Even though there are close neighbors, the cabin sits atop a hill and feels secluded. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

The house sits quite remotely and you have the feeling that you are alone. Outside fire pit is wonderful. The house inside is a little noisy but that’s expected from an older home. Proximity to Lake Michigan, silver lake and Ludington was a great plus. Loved it!!

We really enjoyed the setting and the house. Being up on the hill top lent privacy and the furniture was comfy cozy in living room, dining, and bedrooms. It had plenty of space to spread out and enjoy our group as well as private time away from everyone.

We are a group of friends who stayed for 4 nights at this property. It is well equipped, comfortable, clean and a good choice for those who want their own rooms! Having 3 full bathrooms was also a nice bonus. Not far from most of the places we wanted to visit and it was lovely just hanging out there and playing games at the big table! The parking was a little tricky for a large vehicle but there is plenty of parking at the bottom of the driveway for trucks or SUV's, and room for 2 small to mid-size vehicles by the house. Overall would recommend!

Although we were not on the water, we were close to beaches. We really enjoyed the privacy of those beaches too. We were also very close to shopping and attractions for our large group. Overall, the house was great! Comfortable beds, well stocked and enough bathrooms to accommodate us all! Thanks for allowing us the use of your beautiful home!

This is a great property to gather with family and enjoy Bass Lake ,Lake Michigan and Pentwater. What a great place to enjoy a vacation. The house is spacious and had lots of amenities. Super comfortable for our big family. The host, Jim, was very easy to work with. Loved it and would recommend it to others!

We had a large group with 4 families and chose the Lodge for our annual friendcation. We are a big crew to accommodate with lots of little kids and this place was perfect! The owner, Jim, was wonderful to work with and the location was great! Plenty of toys and fun things for the kids to do right in the yard along with an easy access to Lake Michigan just a 3 minute drive away! Highly recommend Jim's place and will be coming back in the future!

The big storm and power out our last night there was kind of a hassle but not the owner's fault. This house is great for a big family get away. Just for fun, we went to a different nearby beach everyday. They are all great. You can't beat Lake Michigan's clean sandy beaches.

The house was super clean and very spacious the beds were comfy with clean linens. There was just about everything we needed there. The living room couches were not too comfortable. We had a couple days of rain so we spent time on the deck. The outside deck was not cleaned well there were bottle caps laying around and the outdoor furniture was dirty. There was a bag of garbage in a recycle bin left near the basement door We really liked everything else about the house and location. Maybe check on the cleaning service

This spacious, comfortable home was the perfect spot to gather with our children and grandchildren. We loved the wrap around porch and the quiet, wooded setting. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and serving big family meals. Access to Lake Michigan is less than a 5 minute drive away. All around, our stay at the Lodge was just the place for spending time together.

House is bigger than it looks online! This property has everything you need to have a great vacation with family or friends. The porch is amazing. Things to keep in mind: the driveway is fairly steep and there is limited yard space for any outdoor activities.

This properties could have been so much more memorable and comfortable if the place would have been cleaned up. There was filth everywhere. We had to wash all surfaces not only for fear of germs and bacteria, but everything was dusty and actually dirty. In a day and age of Coronavirus and all the uncertainty of the pandemic we felt somewhat nervous. You have people coming in to clean, i suggest they be supervised, or even terminated. This home very unsanitary.

We rented this house with our entire extended family for after our nieces wedding. It was my mother-in-law, my wife's 2 sisters and their families (minus the niece who got married) and my family. In total there were 7 adults, 2 teens, and 6 kid's between 5-10. This place was great as they had plenty of room and plenty of sleeping options for the whole group. There was plenty of space for the whole crew to not feel crowed. Our kid's loved the Sandbox Play area built into the steps, and just exploring the woods around. The fire pit worked great for campfires at night. There were TONS of dishes, plates, cooking apparatus, etc. It was also very close to the Bass Lake Outlet Beach where Bass Lake emptied into Lake Michigan. It was a 2 minute drive, there was easy parking, and not a lot of people on a nice beach area where we could swim in Lake Michigan, or the water emptying from Bass Lake. If you are looking for a safe place to get away during Corona, I would HIGHLY recommend this place, especially for a big group of families! Thanks for letting us have some fun!

Great for families

House is in a great location and very well equipped for actually living out of the house. The large number of bedrooms and beds is a rare find at this price and creates a very comfortable experience for a large group. We had 12 people total and ate all our meals at the house. I love to cook and the kitchen was well equipped. We had a minor communication issue on check in but the owner responded immediately. I Would stay here again for sure.

This property was a fantastic place to stay. Our family really enjoyed the house. Just about everything you could need was included (minus your food and beverages). Linens, towels, fully stocked with kitchen items, games, puzzles, books. Very secluded, with beautiful trees, you hardly know there are neighbors. Close to Bass Lake and the fantastic Lake Michigan. Plenty to do within a half hour drive and even more within an hour. Highly recommended.
