The staff went above and beyond, providing excellent service and making us feel at home. The Riad is a beautiful oasis in Marrakech, with helpful and kind staff.

We stayed at this Riad for three days in April, the staff is awesome. They provided great service, beyond expectations. Riad is clean, beautiful but equavelent to a three star hotel in terms of amenities. Location is also a little far, about 25 to 30 mins walk from souk and Jamma and is in the older part of the city.

We were welcomed by a homey meal, which was great after a very long travel. The rooms were so nice and very clean. Hassna helped so much with directions and making us feel welcome. She also scheduled for all taxis to train stations etc. The house is beautiful and would be fun for large group, the spaces were comfortable and the roof was beautiful.

The road is beautiful and clean and super comfortable, a quiet oasis in the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. Most of all everyone was so kind and helpful, organizing taxis and picking up train tickets for us and answering all sorts of questions! It was great to have a light bite to eat in in the morning before heading out for the day.

Our stay at the Riad Ailen was one we look forward to telling our friends and family about. Our prelude to Marrakech was via email with the owner (who sadly we never got to meet) Who was readily available to help us with all information and questions we had leading up to our arrival. The owner had arranged our airport pick up (for a modest price) which allowed us an easy transition from the airport to the Medina. Our driver seemlessly transfered us over to Nieema (sorry if I misspelled) who not only would become one of our most treasured memories of the Riad experience, but guided us quickly to our new home away from home, where we were greeted by Nasleena, and while over some morrocan tea gave us all the information we would require for our time in Marrakech. The Riad itself was wonderful! Well located within (depending on physical wellness and level of patience) the central market. All 3 members of the Riad staff were always available for any questions we had, the facilities such as room quality, roof top salon, air con, and morning breakfast were excellent. We highly recomend this Riad, and are incredibly greatful for our experience overall in Marrakech.

Dear reader,
The Riad is 20mins walk from the square as a fit 31yrs old not 15 minutes.
There is lighting at night in the streets, but it is quite limited and not to UK standards, and the whole of the medina is like this,(motor bikes drive down the streets in both directions, horses, carts, cars and people) this is a massive culture shock, you are not in the European section, but in an area with real moroccans and although near the square a small number of persons get in your face, once you leave the tourist area, everyone ignores you, this is a safe city compared to many british cities, but do learn some words of french or Arabic it is useful, polite and good to help with bargaining for items. :)
Heating was a small issue, and it was very cold at night, but plenty of sheets could be found.
The breakfast is standard, toast, pancake, and different bread sometimes, and our last day cake, but very good amounts and a lovely atmosphere, with birds visiting your table.
Communication was an issue, limited written information in the rooms in English, and no staff who could translate without some effort from both parties, but we managed.
Nayema has the strongest English of the staff. The staff need to do an induction on arrival, or have full information in English in rooms, it would help no end, I did try getting information prior to visit via e-mail, I had to write in French to get all questions answered.
I had a massive issue settling the bill, although I paid deposit using paypal, the rest of the bill I was told to pay in cash, in Euros or dirhams on the last day, they would not accept card either.
The staff, were polite, the rooms were clean, the bathroom very clean, (although there were cracks in the wall and around the sink basin). The shower was great.
The staff are friendly and trying to help, and will work hard to make your stay a happy one. I would come again, £41 for a clean double room, with breakfast is extremely good value, yes the location seems like it is a the rough bit when you arrive, but it is average once you have walked around. Communication is an issue, but is manageable. The the staff are kind, and trustworthy, the rooms are pretty and quite usable. Will definitely be using this Riad again! :)
