Rooms were nicely decorated and clean
The heater was on all night and day and it was so hot in the share room but I didn’t know where it was to turn it off so I didn’t get to snuggle under the soft blanket cause I was sweating under a sheet.

they offered afteer hours instructions for guests who have to check in late.the security of the building is very good. ample lounge area with full kitchen and plenty of seating space with a nice vibe. also provided extra sheets and blankets without request. good ammenities too
furnace in my room was turned on max when i first arrived, good for people who dont sleep in cold but way too hot for ppl who prefer cooled/ac rooms.

Great staff. Shared bathroom and toilet but clean and great. Kitchen also clean and common room is great for leisure session with family. Room is spacious for 5 people and we will love to come here again if can in the future.

This is a tastefully decorated, exceptionally clean, comfortable place to stay in Otaru. Worked perfectly for my family of four visiting Hokkaido to ski. My wife and I had the triple room, and my boys (16 and 13) had a double room. We made our own breakfasts and sack lunches in the kitchen before heading out to ski each morning, and loved the complimentary coffee and made pour-over coffee for our thermoses. The common area was quiet and very comfortable, with an amazing jazz soundtrack going from 7am-9pm and wifi fast-enough to zoom into meetings. The hosts were flexible and exceptionally kind. The Lawson across the street is almost too easy to get to, and the COOP grocery store and public Onsen are both easy 10-minute walks away--and there are endless dining options with 15 minutes by foot (yakitori, ramen, okonomiyaki, tempura, and, of course, world-famous sushi!). Seriously, I can't recommend this place enough! We'll stay there again when we visit to ski Kiroro, Kokasai, and Teine--and maybe even Niseko, tho' we didn't make the drive that far south as the snow was too good at the closer areas.
My boys thought the double room as a little small, but they also had a lot of ski gear with them, and they fight like siblings anyway--so take that with a grain of salt!

Bunk bed space was really spacious and comfortable. Dorm room was also spacious. Small kitchen for guests, which was OK-equipped. I asked for a spatula on the first day but there wasn't one so I had to improvise with another kitchen utensil. On the second day I asked a different member of staff and was eventually provided with an actual spatula. Free drip coffee was good. Nice decor throughout, lounge area was chilled and comfortable (however, I'd say not for big groups of people who want to make a lot of noise). Staff friendly and helpful. Good location near to Lawsons and a supermarket.
I never had to wait for a shower cubicle to be available but just be aware there is only 3 shower cubicles designated female only and 3 for the men. The toilets are separated by gender but the showers are in a mixed area.

Lobby can be used by guests to play board games or just chill. Friendly staff to help accommodate your stay. We booked a double-bed room, very cozy and comfortable. There is limited parking behind the hostel at a fee.

I like their cozy living room which is a perfect place to meet and chitchat with people. Their kitchen has all the cooking utensils you need. you can boil water, cut fruits, and even cook rice. They provide plates, bowls, cups etc.
I also like the colors and decoration of the house including the tiles used in the toilets and shower room, and also the dry flower hanging on the wall of the corridor. You can see the owner has a good taste.
Shower rooms for men and women share the same entrance, which is very confusing. When my daughter pushed the door of the entrance, all were men inside, she thought she had gone to Men's shower room by mistake. She told me she couldn't find the shower room in this house and unfortunately, at that time, the only staff was just off.
Suggestion: The staff should tell guests that the shower rooms for men and women share the same entrance.

Super friendly staff, beautiful common area and kitchen, and really comfortable bed! Everything is beautifully decorated and super clean.
The location is perfect for staying in Otaru or travelling to other cities.

I stayed in a dormitory room but I was surprised to find it wasn't a bunk bed but a narrow room with a curtain at one end. The high ceiling was very nice after staying in capsule or bunk beds for weeks. I liked the vibe of the place so much that I asked to extend my stay an extra night. Also the coin laundry is the cheapest I've seen.
Sensor lights in the dorm turn on like daylight every time someone moves in the night.

Everything is so cozy and clean!
If you didnt drive the car, the position is a little bit far.
4.3
I enjoyed the space a lot, the shared dorm room was cute and the ‘bedroom’ spaces were roomy and nice, comfy bed, fan & charge port etc. The room was air conditioned, a treat! There is free drip coffee, good kitchen facilities for cooking & good amount of showers/toilets to share, I didn’t have to wait to use anything. Thank you!
4.3
The location was pretty good - quite close walking distance to Sakaimachi and the Canal at the end of it. Though it is about 2 blocks away from the railroad track, there is no noise from it. A Lawson convenience store is practically just next door. The owner has done a great job establishing a quaint interesting atmosphere with the decor.
With 2 beds in the room, there is really not much space to move around. Some parts of the place exhibit damage, holes in the male toilet wall and one male toilet seemed to have been locked from use. The lights outside the bedrooms are motion sensor triggered. They have to be reactivated after switching off if you spend some time outside their range.
4.3
I really like the ambience of the entire building! It's not only very well-decorated but also clean and comfortable. The owner is nice and helpful.
I had a great sleep but to anyone who's staying in the dormitory: note there will definitely be noises at night (some might check-in late, snore in their sleep, etc). I'm a heavy sleeper so I either slept through it or fell back asleep quickly. Ear buds are provided but it's probably better to book a private room if you're a light sleeper and want a good night's sleep.
The bathroom and toilet are shared but it's very clean and well-maintained; it provides the basic amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tissue, cotton buds and cotton pads.
The living room is very cozy and always has a great playlist in the background. I didn't use the kitchen but it has the appliances and utensils that you would need to prepare meals.
Overall, it's definitely great value for its price. It was a short stay but I enjoyed it a lot, so I will definitely come back again next time when I visit Otaru.

Location is very good for sightseeing.
There is no washroom in the room.
4.3
the owner does the interior design by himself, looks very nice and comfy.
the lounge vibe is like a coffee shop, you can get a book and stay there the whole day and meet some new friends.
the single-bed space is very huge!
it's an old house, they keep the old house vibe, so they don't have an elevator, but for backpackers is not an issue.
the location is on the hill, a bit far from JR station to there, but it's very close to walking street.
4.3
The building in itself is amazing. And the decoration is lovely.
The dorms are cleverly designed so it doesn't feel cramped and you get a sense of privacy.
You get a towel (which is rare in Japan) & free earbuds.
Duvet is thick, so that must be great in winter)
No lockers! I know i'm in Japan but come on, there are foreign travellers everywhere in the city and, in my case i carry 7k€ worth of gear so...
Location is a bit far from the station but not too far from the end of the main touristy street.
You can NOT use the common area after 11PM! This is the first time i see something like this in 30 years of travelling. People like me work/eat sometimes late. Also, when you have dorms, people want to socialize and still be respectful of others (especially when 2 doors separate that big area from the first dorm so...)
4.3
Very good location just a short walk from Otaru canal and port!
Great bunks for the dormitory and all facilities were clean and great. The house is beautiful
