About this house rental
A vacation rental in the heart of Idaho's hidden cycling paradise. Come spend a few days in historic Wallace, leave all the traffic behind, and explore some of the most incredible bicycle routes in the northwest.
This beautiful old home was built in the 1920's and features hardwood floors, tall ceilings, wood trim, and knotty pine walls. This 4 bedroom home feels like a welcoming lodge with many beds to accommodate a large group.
There are 3 bedrooms upstairs and one bedroom downstairs. The west room is a large room with a queen bed and a double bed. The east bedroom is the largest room with a queen bed and two twins, the smallest bedroom has a double bed, and the downstairs bedroom has a queen bed. In addition, there are 6 thick sleeping pads available. The entire house can accommodate 12 in beds and additional guests willing to sleep on pads.
Located 3 blocks west of the Center of the Universe in downtown Wallace. A short walk to coffee shop, restaurants, bars, grocery store, museums, antique store, etc.
A multi-sport training mecca: four different paved directions right out the door (no traffic), Trail of the Coeur d' Alenes stretches 65 miles west and 8 miles east, unforgettable switchbacks of Dobson and Thompson Passes to the north, Moon Pass to Avery and the Hiawatha Trail to the south, a maze of dirt road climbs, cut-offs, and loops make it a cross bike heaven, canyon walls lined with forest roads for mountain bikes and running, and a short drive to Silver Mountain and Lookout Pass ski areas for summer/winter fun.
The kitchen is fully stocked with all items needed for everyday cooking.
All linens (bed and bath) are provided.
There is a TV (no cable) and DVD player. A library of cycling movies and cycling books. This is an older home with many quirks, lightswitches in odd locations, half steps, creaky floors and NO air conditioning.

Overall we had a good stay. The house is walking distance to restaurants and the center of the universe.
Our only dislike would be the comfort of the beds. They are very worn.

Quaint little house with plenty of room. Walking distance to anything you need in town.

We used this rental for a two night stay while in the area doing the Hiawatha Bike Trail. We were seven guests and had plenty of room. Kitchen is well stocked. Quiet neighborhood in this beautiful mountain town! Host is very accommodating and is easy to communicate with.

My siblings and I met up in Wallace for the weekend. We biked the Hiawatha, roamed the streets of Wallace, and enjoyed the restaurants recommended by Tana. Everything about our stay was wonderful!

We had a delightful stay. The vrbo fit our needs and the town is charming. We came to explore the Hiawatha trail and enjoyed a day in Coeur d'Alene, hiked Pulaski trail and drove to Hauser Lake. Easy to get to many places with this vrbo as a launching pad.

Nice home very spacious and fun to stay. So close to downtown we could walk everywhere. Only problem we had was the 2 spaces to park in front of house were taken by people going into the other homes and we had to park across the street making it hard to load/unload.

4 of us stayed at this house for our Hiawatha Trail Race weekend. It was so great to be able to walk anywhere in Wallace. The house was clean and nicely decorated. They had anything you might need in the kitchen. We had a few questions & Tana was very responsive. Would definitely stay here again.

What a wonderful home! Plenty of room for the 12 of us. The home has a charm about it. You knew it was clean right when you enter. Plenty of dishes and bedding for everyone. We were impressed that there weren't squeaky floors considering the age of the home (built 1904). The whole town is charming and felt completely safe walking around, even at night. 15 minutes from the Hiawatha trail, a little over an hour to Silverwood, it was the perfect getaway.
I had made a mistake when making the reservation and the host was so good to help us out without the issue. She was great to work with.
If I had to choose a drawback, it would be the little neighbor boy that would stick his nose to the front door because he wanted to play with our kids. And that didn't even bother us too much.
There is a little supermarket close by and many shops and antique stores. We enjoyed the huckleberry shakes at the local burger joint as well as the local silver mine tour.
I would, without a doubt, reserve this one again!

We enjoyed our stay. The manager is very nice and great with communication. This home in historic Wallace was homey with nice touch of antique furniture including old school desks converted into night tables. This house is a wonderful mix of cherished history with modern conveniences like an updated kitchen, wifi and flat screen tv.

we stayed at Tana’s multiple times and it was great each time. would recommend!

We loved this older comfortable house. The location was perfect for us - very easy walking distance to town and the ski jor competition. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and is peaceful at night even when the town is bustling! Kitchen is well equipped.

Overall we were very happy with this house. It is an older one which comes with many creeks and squeaks but the location was perfect for our weekend. Lots of room for the 9 of us to hang out and plays games.
The house was clean for the most part but could use a real deep cleaning due to the age of the house but that didnt impact our stay at all.
Communication with the owners was a breeze and they were prompt and it was easy to access the house.
Thank you again for a wonderful stay. We will be back in the future for another ski weekend!
Thanks,
Shawn

Staying in Wallace was so much fun. The house was setup perfectly for our large family to hang out and sleep. Lots of extra beds and toys for the kids. Check in and check out was simple. The property is older but met our needs. The home is Central to town. We were able to enjoy Wallace Huckleberry Days after biking the Hiawatha trail. Which was a nice treat we didn't plan for. Overall a great experience. We would book again.

Older house with lots of Character. Was clean and well kept. Tana was great to work with and made the whole process easy.

Great location. Fun town to "tourist" in for an evening.

The house was just as described. The bedrooms were perfect for our group of 4 families. Each had their own bedroom. The host is right that while the house does not have AC, there are many, many fans and it does cool down perfectly in the evening. Walking distance to lots of restaurants, grocery store, etc. We enjoyed our stay very much and will stay here next time we're in town for the Hiawatha Bike Trail ride..

What a fantastic stay! The house is in a prime location to walk everywhere. There are SO many sleeping options, beds were surprisingly comfortable. It was SUPER hot while we were there, but the house cooled off nicely and was very comfortable for sleeping. The neighbor and her pup greeted us with garden fresh goodies and was more than helpful! My kids are already planning our return trip which cannot come soon enough! Thanks for sharing your space with us!

Property was great - walking distance to everything in town and a great headquarters for all that we did for the weekend. Only issue we had was with the neighbor's dog - it's not leashed and escapes regularly and was a bit of a menace from time to time. Otherwise, this property was all that we needed it to be for the weekend! Thanks to a great host as well.

Very cute old home, lots af character and charm. Hostes were very good. Great first experience with VRBO.

Biked the Hiawatha and went to Silverwood the nwxt day. Wallace is an interesting town with good food and beer and lots of history. And an awesome location for doing lots in the area or as a stopping off point for Silverwood and Sandpoint.

Nice and cozy with plenty of room. Older but clean. Great location in fun town of Wallace accessible by walking.

We really enjoyed our short stay. We wished it could been longer. Location was quiet and the house was very well equipped!

Tana was great to work with. Very helpful when plans changed with funeral arrangements. The house was clean and inviting. Some of the softest bath towels I have ever used. Kitchen was well stocked, we had toddlers so a little nervous about the glassware.
Finding the toys was a huge hit.

Thank you for your home!

We had a great time staying at this house! It's located between Silver Mountain and Lookout Pass. The house had everything our family and friends needed to have a great weekend. We were able to walk to local restaurants, the coffee shop, and the grocery store. It's a historic house, that has been updated to include a dishwasher and laundry. We had enough space to comfortably spread out with our large group. The owner was easy to work with and had great communication. We would recommend it!

Great place to stay with a family. Best location in Wallace in my opinion. Very "walkable" neighborhood. Safe.Convenient to ski areas, rivers, lakes, hiking. House is "old" but very comfortable. Plenty of room to spread out. Owner was very responsive to questions and very prompt with communication. We will definitely stay here again.

Visited Wallace for their Fall For History event. We were able to park the car and never moved it til we left. Nice house, nice internet, nice amount of room. Instant heat from the furnace. Found it very comfortable and would recommend very highly.

We stayed here with family while biking the Hiawatha Trail. The house was comfortable, we had plenty of room, and we had everything we needed to prepare meals for a larger group. We had a few bumps on check-in, but those were quickly handled. The manager communicated quickly and resolved everything. Be mindful of the parking to keep the neighbors happy (just the road in front of the house or across the street). Remember it’s an older house (some creeky stairs, not as many outlets, original windows), but it worked well for us. The location is good and Wallace is a tiny but charming town with lots to offer!

Property was in a perfect location for biking the Coeur d’ Alene and the Hiawatha rail trails.. House was in a great location to walk to restaurants and grocery store. It was fully stocked with everything we needed and very comfortable for the family.

No-frills, semi-functional property. Semi-functional because the dishwasher worked, but needs to have buttons pushed mid-cycle to ensure it progresses through all of its cycles. The owner is aware of this, as evidenced by the instructions taped to the front of the dish washer instructing you on how to manipulate it through the process. The bedroom door for the largest upstairs / east bedroom doesn't close all the way, and even if it did, the panel in the door is broken and you can see right through it. Also, the queen bed in this room is very wobbly and needs to be tightened up. There was a nice washer and dryer, but no dryer static sheets. There are simple toys for the youngest kids to play with upstairs, but nowhere safe for them to play outside (no yard, uneven sidewalks, etc...) upstairs. Tana, the host, was great and super responsive prior to arriving -- even letting us check in a night early with a last minute deal when our plans changed. Didn't need to reach out for anything during our stay. Something else to note, there is no AC for the unit. A couple of cheap box fans that can be used in the windows to bring in cool air from outside overnight would help immensely with cooling the property off.

Worked great for our family reunion. Close to Hiawatha.
