Lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage, sunroom with water views, large living room, cable and high-speed internet. (See Amenities section for details.) , kitchen appliances, central AC, gas stove and heat, ceiling fans, TV, master bath, fully furnished, *New septic system Aug2022, outside tiki shower under the stars. Off-street parking and a nice yard with a charcoal grill for outdoor cooking. And it's just 60 steps from the beach!
Broadkilll Beach is a hidden gem on the Delaware Bay. Drive through the PrimeHook Wildlife Refuge (check this out!) to a small strip of beach that is ‘The Broadkill’. It goes approximately 2 miles in both directions from the main cross street. This is a great place to get your run in. There is only one commercial property that the locals call 'The Mall', where you can get most everything that you might need to enhance your stay. You might feel, at times, that you have the beach to yourself! The people of the area are terrific, friendly and make you feel welcome.
When you need to be near the hustle and bustle of the popular shore points, it's only a short drive away. Wander over rte 16 to the little town of Milton or make your way south on rte 1 towards the beaches of Lewes, Cape Henlopen, Rehoboth, Dewey, and Bethany. Take a 90 minute ferry boat ride on the Cape May/Lewes Ferry out of Cape Henlopen. Spend the day in victorian Cape May, New Jersey. Take your car, bicycle or just walk aboard. There is a trolly on the other side that can take you to town. Get some fresh, right off the boat, scallops at the dockside restaurant at The Lobster House. Of course, you have to play some boardwalk skeeball or you could wait until you get back to Rehoboth to try your hand at that at Funland. The SeaShell shop miniature golf always looks fun, back on Rte 1 in Delaware, or maybe you want to check out all of the outlets. Save the outlets for a rainy day as well as the movie theater that is close by too.
For us, a fun day at the beach is always great; Maybe have your morning coffee on the bench overlooking the bay;start in the morning with a walk to look for seashells; ride the waves; rent a paddleboard or soak up some Vitamin D; then a cookout - I can smell the charcoal-maybe some juicy cheeseburgers tonight? and don't forget the smores. On a clear night, look up and see the billions of stars that you won't ever see at home! It's amazing! Open all the windows at night so you can hear the waves while you have the best night's sleep ever! HAVE FUN!!

We had a fabulous time staying at this Cottage. The size and location was perfect for us. Just steps from the beach with a nice sitting area, we watched the sunrise one clear morning. We loved the tiki room vibe enhanced with our tiki music playlist on Spotify. Perfectly situated for day trips to Rehobeth, Lewes, and the Cape May ferry, the Cottage is perfect for relaxing and adventuring. The host was fantastic and helpful, making sure our stay was enjoyable from booking to departure.

Lovely, short walk to the bay where you can swim and enjoy nature. The broadkill store is a short walk to get donuts or ice cream. Lovely neighborhood. We enjoyed outlr stay and felt very relaxed.

Are some of the fixtures/ furnishings out of date, yes, but functioning and comfortable, and as pictured/ advertised. And the location and pleasantness of the host cannot be beat.

Cutest cottage by the bay. Cozy and clean. Location is semi-secluded, away from the hustle of the ocean beaches. Small beach town feel. Only a short trip to shopping and the boardwalk. Very relaxing and enjoyable.

The four of us were absolutely thrilled with the accommodations themselves and the location of the property. The convenience of being so close to the beach in this very quiet community was amazing. We were able to take advantage of exploring the region on a few of our days there. So many things to see and do within an hour of the location. Our weather was perfect and we took advantage of cooking most meals which was a breeze with the kitchen amenities and grill.
We will return for sure.

We had a lovely time! We were in town for a sports tournament and had the opportunity to turn our stay into a mini vacation. This property was in the perfect location to enjoy our sports events and enjoy our time off. Steps from the beach made the evenings relaxing.

Just a few steps away from Broadkill Beach, which is uncrowned, great for beachcombing and kids playing in the surf

We had a wonderful time and Lynn was very responsive. Location location location! Not only was the beach just over the dunes but the only convenient store was just a minutes walk down the street which made such a difference with a three year old and newborn. Plus, the state beaches are a short drive away. It was our first family vacation to the beach since we had kids and we can’t imagine it having gone better. Definitely will consider coming here again. Thanks!!

Cozy Cottage Close to the Beach
Proximity to the beach can't be beat for the price. Cozy, cute cottage that worked perfectly for us. If you are looking for a quiet getaway in a sleepy beach town, this is the place.
Just check with the owners regarding the number and ages of guests. There was a bit of miscommunication that the listing Sleeps 6, but owner didn't want us to have 4 adults staying in the home. I'm not sure if it's an ongoing or new issue, but the septic is particularly precarious. You need to be very cautious about the water usage.
Again, super cute cottage in a great location with beach access. Just pay attention to the fine print in the listing.
**Note: There is no washer/dryer.
**Note: There are technically 2 bathrooms in the home, but only one functioning.

Perfect Quiet Beach Getaway
This property was exactly what we were looking for! The house was perfect for our family of three. It had a retro/tiki/beach cottage vibe going on, which we loved! The house was clean and well organized. The kitchen had everything we needed for our cooked meals. Lynn, the host, was very helpful and communicated everything clearly. Be aware that there is not a washer/dryer which made drying our beach towels a little tricky, but there is a backyard which gets sun most of the day, so we dried everything the old fashioned way. The house is literally less than a minute's walk to Broadkill Beach which is a quiet, sparsely populated beach. The sunrises were amazing and the highlight of our beach time. The local store was also just a short walk away and we visited it most days for coffee or ice cream. We would book this property again in a heartbeat!

Loved our stay!
We had a great time at this property. The property was clean and we'll maintained. A minute from the beach with easy access. The beach itself was quiet, peaceful, and never crowded. A great place to truly relax and enjoy! The property owners, Rich and Lynn, were very responsive, and very helpful leading up to and during our stay. We would definitely return and recommend this beach and this property

Cottage is very cute, great location so close to the beach. Nice quiet beach.
Everything was fine. Bit of a problem with the septic. Had to end up using one bath for 5 ladies. And limit kitchen sink use. But owner was responsive, couldn't fix because of holiday weekend, but an overall good experience.

Great beach cottage!
This was a really wonderful little cottage just steps to Broadkill Beach. Our family’s first time to this beach after going to Cape Henlopen for many years. Definitely a great spot. Lynn was super responsive.

Perfect Cottage for our Family
We have stayed at this cottage twice, in June 2018 and 2020, and it was perfect for our family which includes three kids under 7. The cottage is one story which is great for little kids to have free reign without the worry of stairs. It is quaint and as another reviewer mentioned, it really reminds me of beach cottages I stayed in growing up. We loved that the beach was never crowded and the only downside is that the access is a bit steep due to erosion. The Broadkill Store is a short walk away and a great destination for donuts and ice cream. Rich and Lynn were responsive and very helpful with recommendations (the Backyard for lunch on the way in!). This was a perfect rental for our family and I look forward to going back in the years to come.

We arrived to Broadkill a bit before check in and were able to check out the area near the house. Which is only a few steps fro the beach (on the bay). It’s a little hard getting into the beach due to erosion, so there are no stairs or ramps. Which could make that difficult with someone who had trouble walking or have to carry little babies. But a short drive to Broadkill park is a little easier to get onto the beach. We still loved how close it was. If you picture a beach house from growing up, this was definitely it. We loved it! Very charming, you could sit outside at the table after the beach. Not so much at night though it was very buggy. The beds were comfortable and the house was very clean. Every question that we had was answered quickly and Lynn and Rich were very easy to work with. We loved Broadkill and their home!

Lynn’s and Rich’s cottage is in a perfect location to stay away from the crowded beaches in DE, MD, and VA. Quiet street, quiet beach, great weather. Cottage is sunny and cute; all amenities were in working order; we enjoyed a very comfortable stay. Cannot get much closer to the beach :)))Hiking trails in the Prime Hook refuge, long walks on the beach, kayaks and paddle boards could be ordered to be delivered to the house. Outdoor seating restaurants are 15-25 min away in Milton and Lewes. We’ll be back.

Broadkill beach is great.
Beautiful cottage, great walks on the beach every morning, great walks at Prime Hook, good food in Lewis and Rehoboth. What else can one ask for?

Charming cottage steps away from the beach
Quaint little cottage just steps away from the water. Great to stay with kids, but keep in mind, there's no washer/dryer, which makes it difficult to dry towels or wash kids' clothes. Could use some minor updates around the house, but overall clean and cozy.

Lovely getaway
Our family of 5 (two adults, 3 teenagers) greatly enjoyed our time in Rich and Lynn’s sweet cottage by the bay. The location was great - easy access to Broadkill Beach (literally steps away) which we used most days, but also only 20-25 mins from Lewes and Henlopen State Park which we also enjoyed for their biking trails and beaches. We enjoyed the small town of Milton which hosts the best ice cream we have ever had at Kings Homemade Ice cream ( they have one in Lewes too!)
The house was clean and comfortable and you just can’t beat the location so near the beach. The owners were very responsive to our questions and ensured we had a wonderful stay in their home. We will happily return some day soon!

cozy and comfortable - steps from quiet beach
We really enjoyed our stay! it's a short walk to the beach (access walkway over recently restored dunes) where we enjoyed quiet weekdays away from the crowds. Good conditions for little ones to play in the water. The house was great - plenty of room for our family of 6 and a nice kitchen for preparing our family meals.

Perfect Beach Getaway
We stayed at this lovely cottage for a beach getaway with our daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandkids. It was perfect! Well stocked kitchen, roomy living space, and best of all, super-easy access to the beach. The beach is open and uncrowded, and really kid friendly - we had just about unlimited room to run and play. Rich and Lynn were so easy to work with. This is going to be an annual tradition for us.

Another great time at Broadkill Beach
We've stayed at this house multiple times and always enjoyed it. From this location there is super easy access to a quiet beach with minimal crowds, and you're a short drive to some great places to eat in Milton (you can always drive south to Lewes, Rehoboth, or Dewey if you need more action). The house is great for relaxing and has all basics you need to enjoy your time away. We definitely recommend for couples, families, or small groups!

Great little spot for a family getaway -beach access fine
Great property for a family vacation! Easy to access and close to larger vacation towns for restaurants and activities, but secluded enough for private/quiet beach time. Beach access was fine - short walk up dune and then a bit steep on the descent but we managed to navigate it with 2 very small children and a bunch of stuff. Down the road a bit by the Broadkill Store there is public access, but honestly that was a bit worse than the access right off the property. Maybe not ideal in getting down there, but there was plenty of beach to enjoy, lots of shells and the start of the horseshoe crab season. Water access was also great for 2 little ones, soft sand, warm water and gentle/small waves. I would recommend this to anyone looking for the beach experience without the crowds.
The house was cozy and well appointed, plenty of space and everything worked well. The kids loved exploring the house and we enjoyed having a separate bedroom from them!
Lynn was a gracious host and answered our questions and offered suggestions in a very timely manner.
We had a great time !

May getaway
My son and I spent the weekend at Braodkill Beach. We had never been to the area. Talk about beautiful! You are steps from the beach. Essentially, the cabin provides you the opportunity to stay among the locals. It feels like you're at Grandma's beach cabin. 😊 It is so quiet and private! There is a neat local store that you can pick up some necessities, bait, and awesome doughnuts. It is about 20 minute drive from Lewes and Rehoboth Beach. Easy drive to experience all the busy-ness of the boardwalk.
**Note: There is no washer/dryer in the cabin.

No access to the beach
The owners did not warn us that the beach accesses were not usable. They had been damaged by a storm almost two full weeks before our arrival. The kayak and other beach equipment we brought with us went unused.
The house was as described in the listing and other reviews. It is dated, but clean and comfortable.
We will be back to the Prime Hook and Broadkill beach areas, but will not rent from these owners again. We feel it was dishonest not to disclose the lack of access to the ocean that made this property desirable.

Cute, clean, and comfortable cottage. Very quiet and peaceful location.
We had a terrific time despite the threat of hurricane Florence. We actually had great weather, though very humid, the entire trip. This cottage is clean, comfortable and quiet. It is perfectly located, allowing access to all sorts of sights and activities. Hope to return!

The Cutest Cottage
My family and I loved our stay at the cottage! It was perfect for us. The layout is great. It's super cozy and relaxing! The beach is literally steps away. The house is 2 houses back from the initial dune - couldn't be much better! It's a short stroll to the store on weekend mornings for fresh doughnuts and cinnamon rolls on Tuesdays - both are delicious. Rehobath beach boardwalk is about 25-30minutes depending on traffic. The drive was worth it to be away from the hustle and bustle. The beach itself wasn't crowded and the waves were small enough that our toddler wasn't too scared! Local State Parks and protected lands were great for hiking. Try Backyard in Milton - it was delicious! Overall this place was perfect!
