Come spend time in New Orleans in a traditional residential neighborhood like the locals do. This cozy 1 bed/1 bath cottage is over 100 years old and contains many aspects of the classic architecture for which New Orleans has become renowned - beautiful hardwood floors, 12-foot ceilings, original fixtures, and clawfoot bathtub. The classic architecture is juxtaposed with modern amenities to provide a level of comfort that contemporary travelers have come to expect, including a brand new Sterns & Foster Luxury queen bed to help you sleep well after hitting the city. The full kitchen is equipped with gas stove/oven, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, butcher block countertops, microwave, and coffee maker. Additional items provided to make you feel at home include a 40" smart TV, internet, bluetooth speaker, and ductless AC/Heater with independent temperature control in bedroom and living room. This is an ideal home for couples on a romantic getaway or the individual business traveler.
Located in the heart of Carrollton Uptown and only 3 blocks from Oak Street, this is the perfect rental for those seeking the genuine New Orleans experience buffered from the noisy and drunken tourist traps. Some of the gems that are within walking distances include top-tier restaurants (Boucherie and Jacques-Imo's), music clubs (Maple Leaf), coffeeshops (Rue de La Course and Zotz) and various other shops on Oak Street. Great location, clean house, friendly host. Ideal for exploring NOLA with convenient access to restaurants and transportation.

We escaped to New Orleans for a few days of nothing - strictly R&R. And we could not have picked better spot, this cottage is the one for us. We enjoyed the Uptown area, and we were close enough to everything we wanted to do, everywhere we wanted to drink and dine. We hope this place is available for our next visit. Thanks !

The property was in a nice neighborhood. We had no problems at all. There was some construction going on at the end of the street, but that wasn't a problem. The street car stop was one block over from the house. That's a great bonus if you dont have a car. My daughter and I purchased a 3 day passes and rode it everyday. Alex, the property owner was the best host ever!!
He was very informative. I would definitely stay again

This cottage was very cozy and a great location to be "home base" while we explored New Orleans. The neighborhood was picture book NOLA, with colorful homes, lots of porches, flowers, and the street car. It's close to universities and the Audoubon Zoo/Park/Aquarium. There were some delicious places to eat within walking distance, easy walking distance (around the block!). The street car was a block away and it was easy to drive to the French Quarter.
The host was very helpful and available when we had questions. The home is small but well appointed and had everything we needed, since we were mostly there to sleep and have breakfast. The kitchen had all the amenities -- toaster oven, microwave, dishwasher, stove/oven, laundry.
This will be our first choice on our next visit!

Neat and clean. Perfect for the two of us to come back to and rest and wash up after daily graduation activities and exploring.

We enjoyed our stay in this well appointed unit. Security and parking were good, the neighborhood felt safe, and we were near places to eat, get coffee, a grocery, even a wine bar. Oak Street (within walking distance) had many convenient places to shop. The heat and ac worked great as we were there in mid April and weather was warm/cool. The linens were fresh and abundant. The bathtub and shower had GREAT water pressure - best I've ever had anywhere. The kitchen had everything you need.
The unit was quiet in terms of outside noise and the neighbors were nice also.

The house is comfortable and has everything you need. We enjoyed exploring Uptown and everything the area offers. It is within walking distance of many restaurants and shops. We definitely recommend Jacues-Imo's on Oak Street. It is a treat for the taste buds! The streetcar is only a block away and will take you into the French Quarter via St. Charles. You can download the RTA app and buy a pass for a day, 3 days, or a week...so easy! We didn't need our car all weekend! Alex is so helpful and responsive. He offered many recommendations for places to eat. All were within walking distance from the house. We enjoyed our New Orleans getaway. Thank you, Alex, for sharing your little gem in Uptown.

Very nice 1 bedroom apartment, freshly painted, clean, located in a typical NOLA neighborhood. Lots of excellent restaurants within walking distance and 1 block from the Carrolton streetcar line which took us to Canal Street, just across from the French Quarter. Alex was a great host/manager, lots of helpful info and advice and quickly responsive to my questions about HVAC and TV operation. We had a great visit in NOLA and cant wait to get back.
Highly recommended.

The VRBO stay was just what we needed. The property was clean and nicely decorated. The bed and even the fold-out bed were extremely comfortable as confirmed in other reviews.
Alex, the host, was hospitable and available, but not at all obtrusive.
The location had many great restaurant choices; two only 2 minute walk around the corner. And Oak street eateries about 10 minutes away.
All around pleasant stay- gotta love NOLA!

We really enjoyed staying at this home in the Carrollton area of New Orleans. The home had everything that our family of four needed. We thought that the bed in the main bedroom was one of the most comfortable beds that we've ever slept on in a VRBO home. Alex, the home owner, was an excellent communicator, and that made the trip even more enjoyable.
The home is quite close to the stop for the New Orleans streetcar, and there's a lot of great restaurants within walking distance of the house. We really enjoyed staying in this area of New Orleans, and we'd definitely stay at this house again in the future.

Love this location, and the house is super cute, very well done. It's small and cozy, good HVAC so you're comfortable no matter what. No doors between bedroom/living room so travel with people you are comfortable with :). GREAT GREAT access to streetcars, Oak and Maple street, buses, etc. We love this area, and we look forward to coming back! Thanks to Alex for a relaxed stay -- even during Mardi Gras, which is a busy time in this city!

Our host, Alex, who lives in the other side of the double shotgun house, was welcoming, personable, helpful with recommendations, and receptive to our requests. During our extended stay of 3 weeks, he had the apartment cleaned. An excellent job was done freshening the apartment. The kitchen is well-supplied for the cooking we like to do. The queen bed was very comfortable. The apartment is small but worked well for two. Quiet neighborhood. Close to excellent restaurants and streetcar.

Alex, our host, was attentive and helpful. The house is a duplex, we stay on one side, while the other side is where Alex lives. The space accommodated my son and I perfectly. Though we had a busy schedule doing the touristy stuff, my son always looked forward to getting back "home." Thank you.

Don’t Miss Out!
Housing: There is nothing more memorable for a stay in the Big Easy than an old shot gun house. The windows in this place still have their cables and chains for their weights intact and, c’mon, you really haven’t lived “New Orleans” without having walked through the bedroom to get to the kitchen. The home itself is perfect for the purpose and comfortably sleeps four. I actually really liked the pull-out sofa. If you do plan to stay here with three other people just know you’re sharing tight quarters with minimal privacy, but it’s completely doable. I found it very cozy with plenty of natural light available if you want it. If you’re tall, you may not like the shower unless you’re crazy about old stuff. I’m short and crazy about old stuff so the tub and I got along fine. The place is clean and tidy, inside and out. The A/C is cold and comfortable. Plenty of hot water. All the expected amenities are there - hair dryer, iron, washer/dryer, and more. The neighborhood is quiet and parking is easy/convenient.
Location: The Leonidas/East Carrollton area is one my favorites in New Orleans. They’re close enough to downtown to experience the flavor there, but also close to some of the less touristy parts of the city. This home is located almost caddy corner to the Carrollton Transit Station - a super cool wear house where the street cars sleep at night. It’s a very short walk to top of the St. Charles streetcar line that will take you all the way downtown and a 2 minute walk to one of my favorite drinking holes, the Carrollton Station Bar, that has live music and a patio. This house is far enough away from any chaos to not be kept up all night from any ambient noise (seriously consider that if you’re wanting to stay downtown). There are tons of other restaurants and bars within a 5-10 minute drive or walk. Some are hidden gems. Others are well known.
Host: What is there not to like about Alex?! He’s extremely responsive if you have any questions/needs. I had a lengthy stay greater than two weeks and, out of no cost to me, he had the place cleaned mid-stay and around my schedule. He’s probably in the top 5% of VRBO hosts I’ve dealt with if not the top.
