About this house rental

Set in 40 acres of woodland overlooking the River Laune, 10 minutes from Killarney and just off the Ring of Kerry, Beaufort is an historic Georgian House, built in 1760 by the De Moleyns family around the ruins of a Coolmagort Castle, which was built in the 16th century and was attacked in 1653, the west wall being demolished. The three remaining walls of the old castle now form the hallway of the House which makes it probably the oldest inhabited space in Kerry
Beaufort House has four luxurious en suite bedrooms all of which can be kingsize double or twin bedded. Jane's Room, at the top of the stairs, overlooks the lawn and
has the Blue Bathroom with tub and separate shower stall. The Yellow Room, usually considered the master bedroom, has views to the River and Mountains,. The bathroom has a tub with overhead shower,
The Parrot Room, so called after the 18th century hand painted prints which decorate the walls, also has an over tub shower. The Courtyard Room which overlooks the Georgian courtyard, gets the evening light and has a bathroom with tub and separate shower.
The Yellow Drawing Room has comfortable seating , a Georgian chimneypiece and a hearth populated with the Fire Pigs. a family of Victorian lead animals.
The Green Library is a great room for relaxing. It has satellite television and a selection of board games as well as lots of books. If you look carefully on the walls you will find a print of Edmund Ludlow, the Cromwellian General responsible for knocking down the wall of the castle and signatory of the Death Warrant of King Charles the First, whose portrait hangs over the fireplace. He is hung upside down as a punishment.
The Red Dining Room is a great place for formal or informal dinners. The table seats up to 16 people and additional tables are available to seat up to 30. It has a Georgian chimneypiece and is hung with family portraits. The dark red walls make it a wonderfully romantic setting by candlelight. The Hallway, formed from the walls of the 16th century castle, is a great setting for musical evenings with groups of local musicians..
The fully equipped eat in kitchen has double oven, gas hob, microwave and dishwasher. For those who do not like to cook on holiday a wide range of catering options are available from a precooked food delivery to a formal dinner for 20 or more,

We had a family celebration - 45th wedding anniversary and Donald and Rachel were brilliant. The house was better than expected as the rooms were very large and there was even servicing in the week. Everything we wanted was provided. The arrangement of the property enabled the 17 of us to be able to be together at times and also to give each group space to themselves. We had great weather so it was also easy to have a barbecue for all as well. Just a truly memorable experience.

My family plus my 3 siblings and their families and my parents all stayed for 5 days. The property is amazing, we felt like we were staying in a castle! The younger kids loved running around the gorgeous yard and going to river. We had spectacular weather so were able to eat dinner outside a couple of times. We did day trip from Beaufort as our home base and it worked smoothly. Everyone is hoping we can go back some time soon! Truly a vacation no one will ever forget! So much room, each family had their own space and kitchen. Five stars from us all the way around!

We stepped into an old world at Beaufort. What a brilliant and beautiful property. We stayed with 28 others from the US and no one wanted to leave. It’s just far enough removed from Killarney that you get the dark sky and quiet mornings. You can hear the river and see many species of birds. Donald and Rachel were fantastic hosts, helping us with catering and anything we needed. They left local eggs, butter, bread, and milk in all the cottages and it made our first couple mornings so much easier and enjoyable. We can’t stop thinking about our time there. We can’t wait to go back.

19 of us stayed at Beaufort House while celebrating our daughter’s wedding. It was a wonderful experience in every way possible. Donald and Rachel are delightful hosts, welcoming, friendly, attentive, accommodating, and very responsive. Their home is beautiful, elegant, and comfortable. We cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our visit. The location is also great, just a short drive to Killarney and walking distance to two very nice pubs.

The Beaufort house was everything we were expecting and more ! Each kitchen was stocked with everything we could possibly need, the beds were super comfortable and the bathrooms were in great working order. The owners were super accommodating and available to answer any questions. The grounds are gorgeous, we especially enjoyed our evening walks by the river and saying hello to the neighboring cows. And the three resident Labrador Retrievers were a fun bonus, so playful and friendly. If you are considering the Beaufort house we highly recommend it !
