Nellie’s home is fabulous. We selected the home wanting to be fairly remote yet close to town. This property did not disappoint. It offers beautiful vistas of all the different mountain ranges. The sunrises were stunning. It’s also a birders paradise. There was no need to leave the property. It offers all the necessary amenities. We’ll be back. Thanks Nellie.

My husband and his two birding buddies stayed at Nellie’s for their south AZ birdapalooza. It was a perfect spot; they were wowed by the beautiful Mexican art throughout, the ideal outdoor space, and spacious layout. Nellie went above and beyond as host - leading up to and throughout their four night stay. Thanks for sharing your beautiful property, Nellie!

Fabulous, quiet location with stunning vistas and peaceful surroundings. Beds are new and very comfortable with high quality linens. Kitchen has everything you need. Nellie, the host, was very friendly and helpful. We had a wonderful time!

This was our 2nd stay. The house is spacious and comfortable. And on 10 desert acres, it was quiet - except for the welcome birdsong: over 40 species heard or seen from the patio (or a short walk from the patio). Spectacular sunsets and sunrises. Although quiet and giving a feeling of remoteness, it is only about a 5 minute drive to the freeway, another minute to Tubac. Nellie was very conscientious and prompt in replying to questions and any (minor) issues we had.

Nellie has created a beautiful, peaceful oasis in the desert.
We enjoyed our quiet retreat very much
The house is large and well suited for the privacy that we three adult friends wanted.
Fully appointed kitchen, unique, original art, friendly welcome by our host.
Thank you!

Spacious home with beautiful outside patio/garden area, including a fountain and grill area. Lots of wildlife viewing possible, peaceful and quiet inside and out. Large hacienda styled home with beautiful artwork. Good bedroom separation and lots of tables/areas to gather at. Good Wifi and cell phone connections. Close to Tubac but a very private setting. Little to none highway noise. Nellie was a gracious and attentive host.

This is just the best place to recharge. The property and house are amazing and it was so peaceful and beautiful. We had a much deserved weekend getaway and this was the best environment to relax and re-energize ourselves. We went for walks around the neighborhood and thoroughly enjoyed nature, ate dinner on the patio listening to nothing but quiet, birds, the breeze and our delightful conversation. There was a little market across the freeway, a few restaurants and a plaza with lots of art, galleries and quaint shops to stroll through in the afternoon. Overall I would highly recommend this place it has an abundance of everything required for a wonderful getaway.

This property is exquisite. The interior kitchen is modeled with MESQUITE. The kitchen is fully stocked to make any type of meal. The layout is excellent especially if two families are coming to visit. The hostess Nellie Bracker is very gracious, and very prompt to correct anything necessary. The land around the home is gorgeous with many flowering plants that attack attract hummingbirds. We left the property feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

Perfect setting
This is a beautiful home with all amenities. It went beyond our expectations. Not only was the home comfortable, it was interesting. Lots of decor, color, paintings, artifacts, etc… however, our most enjoyable feature was the patio. We enjoyed the water feature, the flowers, the birds , and the mountain scenery .
Unfortunately, we misplaced house keys. The host was very forgiving. We will be more cautious in the future. As we get older, memories aren’t so good . It was one of the most enjoyable trips we have taken.

Perfect vacation rental
I like to stay at vacation rentals that are a destination in themselves and this filled the bill. From the totally private location, to the lovely outdoor sitting area, to the amazingly well equipped and attractive high quality kitchen, comfortable living spaces and bedrooms, this house has it all. Beyond the house, we enjoyed great hiking and bird watching, as well as the town itself with interesting history and abundant shopping. But on top of all that, there is the owner/manager Nellie who was constantly available to us to answer our unending barrage of questions and to supply us with our every need, for which we are so very grateful. I most highly recommend this property for couples, family, or friends visiting the interesting and enjoyable area of Tubac.

Amazing stargazing
What a beautiful home in a stunning location! The nearby town of Tubac is cute if not a bit expensive and touristy with few restaurants so the fact that Nellie’s kitchen is so well appointed with an amazing BBQ set up on the peaceful patio really is a big plus. The yard is absolutely beautiful with 360 views of mountains affording incredible sunrises and sunsets and the sound of the tinkling fountain in the background.
Some more comfortable patio furniture and maybe a lounge chair or two would be a fantastic addition.
The bedrooms are all en suite which is really nice and private and each has its own outdoor space as well. The best room in the house is the upstairs room with incredible picture windows and two terraces to sit out on where we watched the Geminid Meteor shower and saw TONS of meteors! The shower upstairs also has an amazing picture window which is fun and the bathroom itself is lined in the most incredible ammonite tiles with a giant stone sink that is just so artistic and beautiful.
The downstairs bedroom is clearly the owners son’s room jammed with board games and model cars and would be so nice if it were decorated as nicely as the rest of the beautiful home but it didn’t ruin our stay.
All in all we had a terrific peaceful time and would most definitely stay here again. It is especially nice that dogs are allowed so our blind Loretta really enjoyed sniffing around the property!
Thank you Nellie for sharing your corner of paradise!

Beautiful, spacious and off beaten path
We met our parents at Nellie’s place for an early Holiday celebration. The backyard is absolutely amazing. Beautiful landscaping and potted flowers with a lovely fountain.
Inside is spacious as well- perfect for 4 adults and 2 dogs. The backyard is fenced but there is an area that a jumper like mine could get out of just an fyi. Fortunately we just kept them on their leashes and the area is great for a nice walk down the dirt road in the desert.
Nellie was very responsive and easy to get a hold of should we need an answer to a question.
I would recommend this place if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle and be with nature.

Private, beautiful and serene
Nellie’s property was wonderful for our Thanksgiving holiday. We ate at her large dining room table overlooking a Sonoran desert view. The house was decorated beautifully with interesting heirloom art pieces and it was a topic of conversation throughout our stay. Kitchen was well stocked, there was plenty of linens and blankets and the well water was perfect to drink. She was very involved and made sure we knew all the details of the home. She was easy to get a hold of and was able to give lots of suggestions for the surrounding areas. We would love to visit again.

Fun in the high desert at Tubac home
We four friends have been taking short trips together for 25 years and our recent visit to Nellie’s Tubac home was our most fun. Her property has breathtaking views of the mountains and the high desert foliage. The house is an architectural marvel and is decorated with fascinating contemporary art pieces, as well as Mexican paintings and ceramics. We loved sharing a bottle of wine on the patio while we watched the sunset. The Tubac art shops are a short distance away and we spent many hours in these, taking time out to dine in some of Tubac’s great restaurants - - Elvira being the best. We had a short 4 day stay, but it was one that we will remember forever.

Perfect tranquil getaway.
This property is approximately 1/2 mile off the main highway on a gravel roadway. It appeals like an oasis in the middle of the desert. Offering a beautiful quiet patio with amazing sunrise/sunsets. Including a wooden bridge, peaceful water fountain and amazing plants. An over sized iron gate and reinforced fencing protect from the wild Javelina (which look like pigs/hogs but are NOT). It was so neat to see them stroll past into the small dry creek bed under the bridge as we enjoy the outdoor tranquility each evening after grilling out. If you are quiet enough at that time you will enjoy the strange clicking noises they make, as well as, wild jack rabbits on the green lawn and interesting song birds near the fountain. The house is neatly decorated with an amazing hand painted mural up the stairwell lighted by the natural skylights. Tubac is a clean artsy community - neat to experience! Something really different coming from the mid-west. The home owner is very attentive and accommodating!

Beautiful home
We wanted a quiet and relaxing, do-nothing kind of vacation. Nellie's home's gorgeous and very peaceful. We stayed in the whole week hanging out enjoying nature. The birds and cutest wild bunnies visited us often. We enjoyed the desert walks with our two little dogs. It felt like the time had stopped. It was a lovely vacation. Thank you, Nellie, for sharing your home with us.

Hacienda Happiness
The Hacienda was our initial impression as we arrived at this walled, enclosed two story abode. The outside decorum was truly mindful of haciendas in a western desert setting like in the old cowboy movies we grew up with. The grounds are lovely and restful. There are multiple choices off each bedroom, downstairs and up, to enjoy the view, read a book, listen to some restful music or a setting for happy hour at sunset. Warm days we enjoyed the location outside the primary entry on the southern side with the bird feeders and fountain and the abundance of aviary activity. On cooler days with a steady SW wind blowing thru the surrounding mountain terrain, we scurried indoors and were equally thrilled with the views of the gorgeous mountains to the east thru the living room picture window, cozy inside with our libation of choice. These could turn a brilliant red with the late setting sun or you could awaken to snow capped peaks from a random snowfall in the higher elevations! The kitchen was well stocked, allowing us to prepare three wonderful meals onsite, not to mention grilling steaks outside on the gas grill at sunset. Restful, peaceful and isolated are the words that best describe this wonderful and unique desert hacienda! We'll be back! Thanks, Nellie, for a great experience.

Nellies house
The house is on a quiet and peaceful property with no neighbors in sight. Marvelous birds. The kitchen is especially well equipped. We enjoyed our 2 plus weeks enormously. Nellie is attentive, quickly responsive and completely non- intrusive. Highly recommended.

Serenity and art
This house was beautiful and well stocked with amenities. We enjoyed having the peacefulness of the 5 acres with stunning sunrises & sunsets, viewed from the lovely patio, complete with water fountain and an array of birds at the feeder. Nellie was very responsive with communication and clearly has put a lot into the home to make it appealing, comfortable and interesting. We highly recommend it and will return some day.

We were looking for an escape from the city and found it here. Property is tucked away but still close to sights and amenities. Beautiful property and lots of wildlife sightings. Enjoyed a beautiful monsoon and morning views of the surrounding mountains.

Beautiful home with Amazing Views
By far a great place to stay with Amazing views. The day we arrived at the home it was raining and the wash was running so that was a treat to see. The patio is amazing and the beds were comfortable. The home has many upgrades, and the view from the living room window is truly mesmerizing. We will be staying again one day.

An Extraordinary and Wonderful Place in the Arizona Desert
Quite simply put, we had a phenomenal experience at Nellie’s place, her home in the high desert.
Our escape was truly rejuvenating, peaceful – beautiful mornings, amazing sunsets and during the mid-day, we would watch the wildlife come and go from Nellie’s well-shaded yard with the water fountain in the back porch area and surrounding mesquite trees combining to create a quiet oasis. Here, birds of all sorts - quail, the resident roadrunner, along with rabbits and other wildlife would stop by for a visit. The desert around Nellie’s home is stunning and the setting is so peaceful – providing just the perfect quiet seclusion.
The house is beautiful, with everything one could possibly need. Loved the kitchen, the very comfortable living room, bathrooms with showers, tastefully adorned in naturally colored stone tile work, the upstairs office/bedroom with views to the desert hillside above and all the eclectic art. Seems we were still finding pieces we hadn’t seen even into the last day of our stay. Waking up in the master bedroom with morning light filtering through the mesquite trees outside was nothing short of magical.
Memories of relaxing with coffee outside in the morning or barbecuing in back while the birds sang and the sun set will stick with us for a very long time. Words cannot express our gratitude to Nellie for her kindness and hospitality. We cannot wait to return!

Great stay!!!
Nellie Bracker is a welcoming and accommodating hostess. Her home is well appointed, comfortable and charming both inside and out. It is the perfect base for enjoying the arts in Tabac. for hiking, bird watching, or just staying home to read and relax. Not a spoiler to say there is a bonus, a resident road runner and jack rabbit. Priscilla Ellsworth

Exquisitely beautiful
My stay here was just absolutely wonderful. It's very private and quiet, with views that are just stunning. There is such a sense of peace here, even at night with the stars so jam packed in the sky-amazing. The house is so beautiful, immaculately clean and very comfortable. There are some nice restaurants nearby, Tubac is an artists dream and the hiking nearby, especially in Maderia Canyon is gorgeous. Nellie is a very kind person, great communication and is there for you if you have any questions or need anything. I definitely enjoyed my stay here very much, thanks Nellie!

Desert oasis
Nellie is wonderful and her home is a spectacular way to experience the Arizona desert yet be one mile from Tubac village with shopping, food, ice cream etc.
Two spectacular queen bedrooms and one aerie with a smaller bed that is compensated for by a shower with a window and view! Thanks Nellie.
Thanks Nellie for this

We came for quiet, views, birds, and pleasant lodging
We got it all of it, and Nellie was vey friendly, attentive and caring. A beautiful home (just like in the pictures!) nestled on 10 acres of quiet scrub desert, but only 5 minutes from Tubac. We had the Tumacacori mountains to the West, the Santa Ritas to the East, and dark skies overhead (although the weather was a bit cooler, windier and often cloudier than we expected - still much better than the polar Vortex we left behind in Minnesota!) For you birders who do not have your Southeastern Arizona lifers: at the feeder, trees and patio we saw the Greater Roadrunner, Pyrrholoxia, Curve-Billed Thrasher, Canyon Towhee, Green-tailed Towhee, Swainson's Thrush and Black-throated Sparrows! Many more species at Madera Canyon (45 min drive) and the Anza Trail (10 minutes.) Tucson, the Sonoran Desert Museum, other great sites 45-60 minutes away. Good eating in Tubac area.

Lovely, comfortable and well-appointed home in a beautiful and private setting.
We were two couples staying in this 3-bedroom home. All bedrooms were private and had attached outdoor areas. The living room is large but comfy and the kitchen is a cook's dream. The owner, Nellie, was very helpful and kind to us. The house gardens and outdoor areas are lovely. The property is very private and has wonderful views of the mountains and valley below. Close to Tubac if you want to eat out, but I recommend the outdoor barbecue!

A perfect southwestern retreat
If you want a relaxing getaway in beautiful Arizona retreat, you can't go wrong staying at this lovely country home. Nestled in the hills on a private gravel road, this home was perfect for us. Eclectic art throughout the home made us feel like we were living in an art museum! The professionally-equipped kitchen made me feel like a gourmet restaurant chef. We spent hours on the charming patio surrounded by flowers by the relaxing fountain. Comfortable beds, spacious open concept design, with HUGE picture windows to welcome the sunrise - different every day. Nellie was a consummate host - stayed in touch to answer any questions, and made us feel like a welcome guest in her home. And needless to say, the Village of Tubac provided plenty of great restaurants, shops and galleries. It was hard to leave, and we know we'll be back. I would heartily recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointed
This property has a really lovely peaceful outside seating area, which we enjoyed. We had problems with both main floor showers not draining . When we tried to plunge the shower in the master suite, it resulted in sewage backing up into the shower and not draining. Plumbers informed us this was not anything we had done, but a problem with the houses pipes. Nellie got right on it , but it took most of the day for it to be fixed. We were also a bit put off by maintenance workers at the house for quite long periods of time on three days during our stay. After these inconveniences Nellie back charged us for gluing of a wooden chair. This chair was not in pristine condition to begin with. :(
