The Historic Shankle Ranch, including an airstrip and hanger for their Stearman J-5 and Lockheed Sirus, was built in 1930 by Dutch & Joan Shankle, both prominent national aviators and in the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame. While the airstrip, hanger, and planes are gone, what remains is a serene, beautiful, gated historic ranch home with gorgeous views of Mt. Wrightston, hiking and birding along the Santa Cruz River, minutes from spas, golf, tennis, and the Historic Village of Tubac, AZ “Where Art & History Meet", and 2021 and 2022 winner of USA Today 10Best "Best Small Town Arts Scene". Tubac offers numerous art galleries, quaint shops, fantastic restaurants, live music, and an opportunity to explore the history of Southern Arizona at the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and the Tumacacori National Historic Park. This was the perfect property for our family reunion. The ranch has so many bedrooms and so much space. Everyone was able to spread out and find their quiet time too. The workout room downstairs was a real bonus. The outdoor area is beautiful and amazing for walking and relaxing. The pool was great. This is a real gem in the heart of magical Tubac.

From beginning to end this beautiful property and Ranch house supported us in doing deep healing. The amenities were fabulous. Each person had an incredible experience made possible by this beautiful property from walks outside to the pond mindfulness walks, dipping our feet in the pool to cool off and relax, it was amazing. The owner was available and met all of our needs perfectly. I love the historic Shankle Ranch.

Every year we go on a girls trip, this year there were 7 women all retired and live in same neighborhood, we planned it around the Tubac fair. It exceeded our expectations, it was so beautiful, we all had our own bedroom! Everything was wonderful, the furnishing are so beautiful, I give it 5+++stars all around!!

We rented the main Ranch House as part of a large group gathering that occupied all three dwelling units at Shankle Ranch for a few days. I feel like words fail a bit to communicate the peace, beauty, and graciousness of this special place. If it's possible to feel taken care of by a house... by a place... this place does that. This, beautiful, old, elegant guest ranch offers a perfect balance of solitude and spaces for warm community... luxury and simplicity... grandeur and humbleness. It is really amazing. Hosts are the kindest, most gracious people. Near the wonderful village of Tubac, but absolutely surrounded by the peace of endless nature.

This is our 2nd time at the property and we had just as much fun as the prior year. The property is beautiful and spacious and the owners had the house decorated for us for the Christmas holiday. We had a wonderful time playing games in the big backyard while also enjoying the living/dining room area and it's fireplace. Great time for all!

Love this place, provides sufficient space indoors and out for a large family. The home is perfectly clean and well equipped with all you can need. After an amazing stay last year we chose to come back and truly enjoyed our time here. Host are responsive and clear with check in instructions!

We rented all 3 properties for a family reunion. All were clean and beautifully decorated. The antique furniture in the house are amazing to see. There are several nice places to have a fire and the view from the pool/hot tub is gorgeous. We loved everything about staying here and would do it again!

There were 7 of us staying for three nights and it was so comfortable we didn’t want to leave the property to golf, shop or hike. It is a very special place and makes for very special memories. We are ready to visit again!

The house was very nice and beautiful. The furnishings were beautiful. Some of the appliances are not good quality like coffee maker or it could also be the filters were too small and you got grounds in your coffee. The toaster did not work. No TV service for news or local channels. With what they are charging they could have TV service. Flies were horrible just be aware. You pretty much can not sit outside with a glass of anything or eat outside.

In 35 years of having our annual "guy trip and bonding experience" the Historic Shankle Ranch, has to rank in the top 3 of places we've stayed. The photos on the website don't do justice to the ranch. & great bedrooms with a pool in the middle of it all made for a perfect location that was at the same time, very private and yet open to the views of the cattle and the mountains to the east. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Beautiful Spanish ranch house wonderfully renovated. Very well outfitted for a small to medium sized group. Furnishings are unique, antique and eclectic. Property managers were communicative, helpful and proud of the property. We intend to visit again.

We are a group of friends who have been meeting to meditate together for decades. This was clearly a favorite venue as it was remote and pastoral. The owner Sherry was incredibly responsive to any concerns or needs we had like additional kitchen items. We definitely plan to make this venue an annual gathering.

Did a girls’ weekend in Tubac with 10 girls and this was the perfect house! The host was extremely helpful and communicative prior to our arrival, and met us at the house with a tray containing 10 glasses of sangria. What a special touch! She showed is all around this lovely, absolutely charming house, full of beautiful antiques and lots of great spaces to enjoy our weekend. We are now planning a couples trip to the house, as it would also be perfect for couples.

Great property! It was everything we could have imagined and more. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary and had 20 of our guests stay at the Shankle, 2 more at the Treehouse. In addition, we had an addition 26 guests come to the Shankle for the day for a "Field Day" competition. The lawn in the backyard was perfect for this, it was wonderful! Beautiful views, spacious, and yet very private. The antiques lovingly collected by the owners and all of the historical touches were amazing. This home is a must-see-stay. Thank you to the hosts for making this wonderful place available for all to enjoy.

We hosted my mom and her twin's 80th birthday get together, and the ranch made it absolutely unforgettable! We used the main house, treehouse and bunk house, and it was so perfect for our family, with some others staying at the resort, which by the way is just a short mile walk or bike away. From the moment I booked it through our stay, Sherry, Kirk and Carolyn were so hospitable and a joy to work with, answering my many questions coming from family quickly, they even had suggestions as to area chefs, party rental places, etc. And the ranch...oh my gosh, so beautiful and in such an incredible setting with great views, cozy wood fireplaces that we used each night, a great pool deck (too cold to get in the pool but the hot tub got use) and the treehouse is a must-rent - so unique and so much fun. This is a place we will return to - our family is still thanking us for finding it, so thank you, Sherry and Kirk for making this absolute gem available for the rest of us to enjoy. As if you can't tell, we loved it!

WOW. A beautiful and welcoming property perfect for a family gathering or reunion. We had a small wedding ceremony at the ranch with our family all staying in the ranch. It was a dream come true! The property manager, Sarah, lives across the street and was there for anything we needed. Cant wait to go back for our anniversary in the future!

This property is beautiful! We had our family stay here and were blown away by the beautiful house, the abundant space, and the hospitality of the hosts. This is literally the perfect place to get family together. We rented the treehouse too and it was so cool! The hosts were so accommodating and flexible with us and were super friendly! The pool, hot tub, beautiful views, and luxurious home just made our weekend perfect. Can’t recommend this place enough!

This home is amazing. The furniture alone is an experience worth exploring every day. Sherry was great about addressing any questions or needs we had. The house was very clean. This is a beautiful, peaceful property and we loved our stay. It was perfect for our group of older women having a special reunion. My friends and I do an annual golf trip. This property was a perfect place to hold this years event. Large house with plenty of space to gather as a group but enough beds in order to not have to share. The house is beautiful and clean. Jacuzzi, pool and yard are perfect to enjoy the weather and views. . Recommend this for any size gathering; from family reunions or friends coming together. Check in process was super easy, friendly owners, just a perfect property. Booking this again for a family holiday weekend for sure.
