About this house rental
Nestled under tall pines between scenic Route 100 and Wardsboro creek, this home will wrap you in comfort and contentment. Ski at Mt. Snow (8 minutes away) or Stratton (20 minutes away). No need to worry about reaching the house in bad weather! An easy driveway leads to the house directly off Route 100, so no slipping or sliding! In warmer weather, enjoy the Autumn leaves, local lakes and hiking trails. Barbecue, play ball, on our broad, flat property. Meditate to the sound of Wardsboro creek. Premium mattresses. Open concept living space with wood stove in great room with wet bar. Cook's kitchen with breakfast bar, plus dining room. Despite the proximity to Route 100, the house feels private and very much in the country.
You enter the main floor of the house via an entry with room for your coats, boots and skis. A laundry area and half bath are adjacent to the entry way. The living space is enormous with comfy couches and TV area, and a second, sunken great room with cast iron stove, wet bar, futon and 2 bunk beds. A big kitchen with breakfast bar that seats four people overlooks the great room. Love to cook? This kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, full size traditional oven, gas cook top. A skylight and two windows looking toward the creek provide natural light. A solid wood dining table seats 8.
The master bedroom with Queen bed has a large dressing area and its own private half bath. Two other bedrooms on the second floor have new Queen mattresses and upholstered headboard. These 2 rooms share a full bath with tub and shower. Two more can sleep on bunk beds in great room, with a futon also for overflow.
Outside of ski season, you can swim at local state parks and swimming holes, hike in the Green Mountain National Forest, ride the Alpine Slide at Bromley Mountain (half an hour away), or challenge the trails at Mt. Snow on your bicycle or a rental. Golfers can choose among the Mt. Snow golf course, Haystack golf course and Stratton golf course, all within 20 minute drive.
Don't want to cook? Enjoy fine dining at The Hermitage or the Summit Hotel at Mt. Snow. Or choose one of the numerous local restaurants for bar food, pizza, ribs, etc.
You'll feel welcome at Whittelsey House.
