This outstanding, popular listing with VRBO offers vacationers an immaculate, newly renovated 1 bedroom private loft with beautiful views of the mighty Connecticut River. This lovely property boasts of manicured grounds with sprawling lawns, mature trees, gardens and plenty of private places to relax and enjoy the beauty that abounds here. Wildlife is abundant on this property and you will likely be enthralled with sightings of loons, fox, deer, bald eagles, beavers, ducks, geese, turtles, and a variety of song birds.
This bright, private guest loft is attached to the owner's main house (although no common walls between the two & separate roofs) and has its own two private entrances up a flight of stairs. It's fully furnished and equipped with everything you need to make your stay comfortable with living and dining room furniture, 2 queen beds, bureaus, bookcases stocked with a variety of reading material, games, and DVD's. The newly renovated kitchen is a fully equipped kitchen with pots and pans, dishes, utensils, stove, full-sized refrigerator, microwave and plenty of new cupboard storage space. The cozy bedroom area has windows for cross-ventilation and a comfy queen size bed. A second queen bed is in a cove adjacent to the bathroom/dining room area. There is a spacious modern bathroom, walk-in closet, and pull down stair to access additional attic storage for longer stays. This loft has a cathedral ceiling with fan, is an open-concept space with a spacious feel. It is bright and sunny with plenty of windows to allow for cross-ventilation. For your comfort, an air conditioner is provided as well as a Rinnai heater to quickly warm the place in chilly weather.
There are plenty of river and local mountain views of Vermont from both inside and outside of the unit. A private outdoor landing at the top of the new stairway is large enough to permit 2 - 3 people to sit and enjoy views of the river and mountains. You may wander the property and enjoy listening to the sounds of a waterfall across the river or the sounds of many bird varieties singing.
For your enjoyment some lawn games are available (no charge) such as bocce, croquet, badminton, and frisbee. There's a park bench beneath a tree to enjoy relaxing and viewing the river as well as picnic table and a fireplace/grill at the river's edge. You can also enjoy your own private outdoor area complete with hot tub, fire pit, adirondack chairs, picnic table with umbrella, and outdoor gas grill to cook up those burgers while enjoying the view!! Feel free to bring along your kayaks (or borrow ours for free) so you can explore and enjoy the Connecticut River - there's a dam upstream and islands for the public to enjoy, downstream. If you want to make a day trip out of Kayaking on the river, we're happy to come pick you up wherever you end up!! You may also bring your bicycles (or borrow ours) to enjoy venturing out to explore this beautiful area further. Walking around town is a favorite activity for many and you'll have a chance to chat with many friendly country folks while you're on your walk. Hiking is just a stone's throw from the house up Hunts Mountain Rd. so come prepared with your hiking shoes and water bottles. In season there are tasty wild raspberries you can pick and enjoy! While hiking up Hunt's Mountain Rd. you can also take a peek at our second VRBO property - a cozy off-the-grid mountain cabin with the most amazing westerly mountain views and sunsets looking over into Vermont. You just might want to stay there sometime, too (especially once you see the view)!!
This destination property is such a beautiful and unique place we're sure you would enjoy staying here to celebrate some special occasion - honeymoon, anniversary, birthday, etc. The area offers fun places to visit as well and plenty of stores for your convenience. Take a stroll early evenings and wander around this sleepy little town, cross over the bridge by the dam and into Vermont or take in a night in St. Johnsbury (just 25 minutes away), eat at Anthony's Diner and see a movie. Be sure to visit Littleton, just 30 minutes north and check out Chutters, a popular candy store, local shops, restaurants, a covered bridge you can walk across, community theatre, movie theater, etc. Or, play tourist for the day and take in Haverhill, Franconia, Lincoln, Hanover NH or Stowe, Newbury or Bradford, VT. For your convenience, just 15 minutes away is the town of Woodsville, where you can find all the shops you need: A super Walmart, Shaw's for groceries, Rite Aid, Cumberland Farms, Village Pizza, 2 Chinese restaurants, a seafood restaurant, other restaurants, Happy Hour Restaurant (in Wells River, just over the River), P & H Truck Stop (all time favorite for locals and tourists alike featuring homemade pies galore), Slick's ice cream on Rt. 10 north just out of Woodsville (best in NH).
Our goal is that you have the most relaxing, awe-inspiring experience away from home while enjoying the incredible beauty this region of NH has to offer. After living here for 6 years, I do believe this upper valley area is most certainly one of New Hampshire's best kept secrets. I still can't believe we live in such an incredible place and my hope is to share this experience with as many people as possible. We look forward to your stay at "The loft at River's Edge" and we're quite certain you will leave here feeling rejuvenated and relaxed!!

This place is a gem with stunning views. It is so much more beautiful than the pictures listed. I stayed here after an emotional road trip and I found rest here that was good for the soul. Jeff and Sue are salt of the earth kind of people, that make you feel at home while on a vacation. I’m looking forward to visiting this beautiful place again. I am recommending it to all my family, friends, and you.

We enjoyed the view from the couch as well as the hot tub.The accommodations were very clean. We had a very relaxing stay. We bumped into the owners a few times in the driveway and they were very nice. The hill that leads down to the house is no joke but we had no issues.

Owners were wonderful, view was amaziing. The place smelled very clean and looked clean. I went with my best friend to give her a breather from life as her husband has cancer. Definitely a nice relaxing place.

The loft is a tranquil treat when in need of a recharge. The hot tub is a great way to melt any stress from the day. Watching the Connecticut river from the loft, the hot tub or the lawn is a wonderful way to let nature wash over you. You will feel snug as a bug in this cozy little valley; we sure did.
Thank you Sue and Jeff for sharing this truly unique location.

Sue and Jeff are fantastic hosts! Their listing is supremely clean and the views of the mountains and river are more than spectacular. The home had everything we needed. The hot tub was a perfect way to end our days hiking. There’s a superb little store right down the road for just about anything you need. My wife and I would hands down not hesitate to visit again. This place is a true gem!

This was exactly what we needed! A hot tub, amazing views, and everything you could possibly need for relaxing and disconnecting from everything and everyone. We've already talked about coming back and renting canoes or kayaks for the river. Thank you for everything and being exactly what we needed when we needed it.

A gorgeous property and a perfectly functional living space to spend time in. Everything was clean, presentable, and felt very comfortable right from the start. Being on the water, the interior ventilation and temperatures were really really nice (just throw a couple windows open, even with a high of 86 out there) As others have said, the view and hot tub are stellar. This is an especially awesome spot for the fishing enthusiasts out there- a really beautiful section of the river (and necessary launching area for cartop canoe/kayak) make this spot a dream. The moment you pull your rig up on shore, you’re home! The gas grill is in tip top shape and there was a spare propane vessel right there too, should the need arise. I will say, the property itself is shared with another listing and is owner occupied, so do not plan on feeling like there is not another soul around. All told, I would recommend this place for sure and have lots of nice things to say about Sue and Jeff… and would stay again if doing another trip up that way. I say go for it :)

I was planning a weekend getaway with my girlfriend. This place popped up and it turned out to be amazing. It's really private. And the property grounds was expansive and well maintained. We were having a picnic on the grounds and it was an amazing experience. And the hot tub! We were watching the sunset in it. The hot tub is secluded, on the east side of the river dividing the two states. Watching the sunset on a hill overlooking the river was a joy. Not to mention the hosts were super friendly, responsive to all my messages, and provide such comprehensive details before and during the stay. If you're looking for a New Hampshire/Vermont getaway, this place is it.

The checkin process was one of the easiest I’ve experienced so far. The loft was left unlocked with the hot tub already heated up. All rooms were very clean and it was convenient having a washer/dryer in the loft. The shower had great water pressure and no issues with staying hot.
Both beds were very comfy and so were the two couches in front of the tv. There is plenty of movies, books, and games to play and keep you busy. From the couch we were able to enjoy a beautiful view of the river and mountains, especially during the sunset.
There is a brick oven pizza place just 4 minutes up the road that was very good and they cooked our pizza in just a a few minutes so that was very convenient to have.
The hot tub was a great way to unwind and enjoy the views at the same time! Overall the stay was a 10/10 and I plan to revisit!

It was an interesting trip, specially driving in and out of the place without an AWD. Place has plenty of space. Some things need some updating, and tv wasn’t working right. But overall I had what I needed and they kindly provided what they could. Jacuzzi was the highlight. Although I wish the seating area inside it was on the other side so you could see the river and mountains better. But it was a beautiful moment for us. I would like to try it again during warmer weather.

Enjoyed the beautiful views, hot tub and fire pit. Peaceful and relaxing. Excellent communication with owners. Less than 1 mile to downtown Monroe with country store and terrific pizza place, Farm to Fire!

This property was in the perfect spot to explore the White Mountains and surrounding area. Check-in was easy, and the hot tub was great in the winter. Would highly recommend this spot!

This property has everything!!! From canoes and kayaks to the hot tub- which is super well maintained!!! The space is super cozy and clean with heat you control yourself, towels specially put aside for the hot tub, a kitchen that actually has the things you need(cooking oil, scissors etc.) and a lot of things that just make it a magical trip. Coloring books with colored pencils, chess, tourism information, most of everything you can think of, and good Service! This rental really has it all, and the owners are sweeter than the reviews make them out to be somehow. The views prettier, the hot tub was nicer. 10/10 would book again!

We really enjoyed our stay here! Sitting by the fire pit watching the river go by was wonderful. The house was well taken care of and fully equipped. Would definitely do it again.
Thanks,

The property was clean & quiet. During our stay it was perfect as the leaves were just starting to change which made the views amazing. A cute quiet get away to just unwind. I enjoyed the stat & will consider it for future stays.

This is a loft above the owners garage, so no touching walls and private entrance. A very spacious and fully stocked studio (although there is a queen bed in a room with walls, it is just that the walls don’t go to the ceiling). The property is spacious and is on a beautiful river. We were here for a week during the fall colors. The view out the window or deck is beyond awesome-breathtaking!!
There is a spa at the entrance of the stairs to the loft. WOW, is that nice. This is a tiny town with a pizza place and small market. However, it is within minutes of Woodville which has a Walmart and other retail stores. We shopped at the Shaws grocery store. We loved the location —within an hour from most major attractions.
The hosts are wonderful: they are accessible and engaging, but not intrusive.

My fiance and I had an amazing experience here and the atmosphere around was calm and quiet. Definitely was a nice getaway from home.
The location was clean and had a nice atmosphere. The surrounding land was beautiful and the owners were very nice to us and considerate. They definitely cared about their guests.
Would definitely come again.

We were looking to relax and just decompress. This is an ideal spot for that. There is a small grocery store just down the road maybe a mile with lots of good deli meat and salads. We stocked up there and just hung out at the house looking at the CT. River. Very relaxing.

We spent a weekend in this beautiful property. On saturday it snowed a lot and staying in the hot tub with the beautiful view of the river was just perfect. When we left we had some troubles going up the hill with the car (we didn't have a 4WR) but the street was plowed and both the oweners and the neighbour helped us and we were able to leave after just a couple of attempts. Jeff and Sue are really nice and helpful. The house was beautiful and super clean. I'd come back in any season

We had a great time! The house was neat as a pin and the tv came in super helpful with a toddler. I think it would be a lot more awesome with adults, older kids or toddler that isn’t woken up my noise. Because of the way the room is there isn’t a full wall around it and it was a little hard to get a toddler to sleep. Sue and Jeff were great!

My two friends and I stayed at Sue and Jeff's Loft for the long President's Day weekend as part of my 30th birthday celebration. Sue greeted me when I arrived and provided me some great tips for the Loft and places to go in the area, including gluten-free options. She also checked in via Vrbo during our stay to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying our visit. The Loft was super comfy and private - and has quite a great book and games collection! We most loved waking up to the Connecticut River each morning. Our drive to and from Monroe was also quaint and calming as we passed many farms. What beautiful views of the mountains, too! The weather was a bit cold and snowy during our visit, so hopefully we can come back in the warmer seasons and enjoy the Adirondack chairs more! Thanks for sharing your beautiful Loft with us, Sue and Jeff! :)

It was an excellent place to stay. At a gorgeous location. Sue and Jeff were so friendly and helped us a lot during check in and with suggestions about activities in the area.

Sue was lovely and welcoming - the loft is gorgeous and homey, the kitchen is VERY well stocked with tools and spices, and we had a great cookout on the grill followed by a bonfire and s'mores. We checked out local restaurants, hiked the Coppermine Trail to Bridal Veil falls, and borrowed Sue's kayaks to paddle along the Connecticut River. It was a lovely weekend get away - very much appreciated!
