About this house rental
Refugio is a contemporary Spanish-style guesthouse, a peaceful retreat, and a place to wind down at magic hour. Refugio boasts two state-of-the-art suites, each with private deck and fire-pit (and mini-bar). Indulge your inner chef in the fully-equipped teaching/catering kitchen and expansive patio overlooking two and a half acres of pasture, with two 300-year-old oak trees.
The two completely separate and private suites at Refugio can comfortably accommodate one or two single(s), one or two couple(s), and family or professional groups. The lounge area of the kitchen/studio boasts a queen-sized pull out sofa equipped with lush linens and pillows; a folding carved wooden room-divider provides added privacy.
Sheets are Italian, wi-fi is strong, and bathrooms boast heated tile floors, comfy bathrobes and lush towels, locally-sourced products, and high-end fixtures.
You will not find any televisions here. Instead, the Oak Suite has a huge oval bathtub and wood-burning fireplace; the Barn Suite a spacious, double-headed shower, large and sheltered deck, and a wall paneled with old barn wood.
We have been long-time renters on VRBO, and always looked for homes with two equal suites, so we created the ultimate two-suite home, and threw in total luxury and complete privacy for each suite. A complimentary bottle of Paso Robles wine awaits you at this 'Bed and Bottle' in Wine Country.
Parties:
Without prior approval, gatherings of more than 12 persons, children included, will not be permitted. With prior approval and depending on the type of gathering, additional fees/event contract may apply and may include stipulations regarding noise, shut-down time, responsible trash removal etc.
Pet Policy:
We love dogs and have had virtually no problems welcoming them to Refugio. There is a maximum weight limit of 50 lbs total, and a fee of $60 per dog. Please do not leave your dog unattended in the house unless he or she is in a crate, and please be sure they do not get onto any furniture or beds. Thank you for taking your pet out into the pasture to relieve themselves rather than staying close to the house, to avoid smells.
There is a back-up generator that will automatically provide power to the whole property in the event of a temporary electrical grid shut-off.

10/10 stay. One of the better VRBO properties we have stayed at. Had a group of industry professionals/chefs stay and the kitchen accommodations were incredible - very well stocked for a weekend of cooking and entertaining. Not one detail was missed. Would definitely stay again.

A true gem and delight in Paso. The location and chef's kitchen provided a wonderful jumping off point for our Paso adventures. The hospitality went far beyond what we expected or have experienced from any previous VRBO experiences. Highly recommended for any adult trip.

My husband and I and our friends stayed at Refugio. First I just need to point out that Brigit and Casey are amazing hosts. They were so responsive and made sure any question or need we had was answered immediately. The home has two very large and very comfortable suites. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. The main part of the house had a huge and very well stocked kitchen with ample seating. The home is quiet and peaceful just what we wanted and needed after full days of wine tasting. We are looking forward to returning to this home for future visits to the Paso area.

Thank you Brigitte and Casey.

My husband and I and another couple had the best time at Refugio. Communication with the owner was great and she provided an insider's list of favorite restaurants, wineries, hikes, food shops and more. The home has a great kitchen and two separate suites, was very tidy, and is nicely sited. We’d definitely go back!

Host we're easy to get in touch with and very friendly. Really enjoyed our stay and have nothing bad to say. We do have a few suggestions and something we would consider if staying 5 days again. We definitely LOVED your place and would stay & recommend to friends! Enjoyed the kitchen, heated bathroom floors, luxury bedding & towels.
Few suggestions to feel more comfy when staying longer then a few nights: night lights for the bedrooms, TV would of been nice to watch a movie one night and either a sectional or 2 comfy chairs with love seat so that 4 people can hangout in the extra space when cold outside. Don't get me wrong, we loved loved loved our stay but I know giving some other suggestion can also be helpful if people are staying more than 1 or 2 nights.
Thank you again for the wine! We definitely recommend this place and hope to stay again since we do frequent Paso 3-4x/year. Cheers!!

We have traveled to Paso Robles for years and this property have everything we love when looking for the perfect place.
*Great location to wineries and to town
*Quiet and private place to relax
*Two suites with luxurious bedding, comfortable beds, and overall beautifully appointed.
*Gourmet Kitchen - And I do mean gourmet! Every piece of cookware needed to make your favorite meals. We are all foodies and took advantage of having everything we need at our fingertips.
*The view from the floor to ceiling doors that open up to the California fields? Spent alot of time on the front porch with coffee in the mornings.
*Last but certainly not least - The hosts were gracious and greeted us with a bottle of wine and soft music.
Would we come back ? Absolutely!

Our stay at Refugio in Paso Robles was nothing short of outstanding. The transformation of an old barn into an extravagant guesthouse by our hosts, Bridget and Casey, speaks volumes of their dedication to offering a unique and luxurious experience.
The two master suites, complemented by private decks, provided breathtaking vistas that only added to the place's allure. The gourmet show kitchen, not only equipped with top-notch appliances, beckoned us to spend our evenings cooking and relishing the serene surroundings. It felt reminiscent of the luxury and comfort one would find at a top-rated hotel with super comfy beds and ensuite accommodations. The communal areas were comfy too, which allowed the 4 of us to be together or get some privacy. Seriously, room for 12 to sit around the massive kitchen island.
The outdoor space with the huge bifold doors from the enormous kitchen opens to a serene patio with its wood-fired pizza oven and breath taking vistas. This became our favorite spot to capture the mesmerizing sunsets.
In addition to the impeccable setting, the graciousness and accommodation of our hosts stood out. Despite the profound sense of privacy the property afforded, Bridget and Casey were always within reach, ready to assist with any needs that arose during our stay.
We are genuinely thankful for the experience and look forward to our next visit. Refugio is a gem in Paso Robles, and we highly recommend it to anyone seeking a blend of luxury and rustic charm.

We returned to stay after being away for 2 years and it was once again a great stay! The property was in excellent condition. We used the professional kitchen many nights during our stay and love the inside and outside living areas. We also felt the 2 custom bedroom suites were once again perfect for our group. It's a great location to explore this beautiful wine region!

Brigit and Casey have a wonderful home. They communicate with guests prior to arrival and even sent us suggestions for the area. The house was easy to get to, clean and great for relaxing or entertaining. The kitchen is very unique and great for those who like to cook. The house had everything we needed. We would go back!

We chose Refugio as the central gathering point for myself, my two daughters and their partners and my sister to celebrate one daughter’s graduation from Cal Poly and the other’s engagement. Refugio is built to bring people together. The kitchen serves as the centerpiece with a design that welcomes cooking and gathering and is supplied better than any other rental I have used. The owner Brigit is a cook and author of cookbooks so small surprise. The two bedrooms are very large with separate sitting areas, beautiful bathrooms, individual decks and solitude. The pullout bed worked well for my daughter and her partner. The neighborhood is beautiful with views in every direction and a huge patio off the kitchen separated by sliding doors to create one huge indoor/outdoor entertainment space. The owners’ dogs are even adorable and I was able to watch the neighboring ranch shower their cows (now THAT does not happen in Ohio). I would come back here in a heartbeat and actually hope I will be able to rent it September 2024 for my daughter’s wedding at Villa San Juliette winery!! Finally, if you like Italian food, you will love Il Cortile Ristorante in Paso. Thanks to Brigit and Casey for sharing Refugio with my family. Hasta luego…

One of our favorite stays in Paso yet. The property was quite with beautiful views and close to town. It’s named “Refugio” for good reason - we were so comfortable and happy. Would love to return again someday! Thank you!

This property is ideal for two couples who want to have equal accommodations. Wonderful kitchen to cook and hang out in; pleasant pastoral views, comfortable beds with great linens. A bit further from town than we expected but close enough to head in for dinner. Thank you to Casey for great information and easy check in/out! We’ll definitely be back!

The Refugio is set in a beautiful part of Paso Robles with large oak trees and meadows. The hosts were the best! The home was perfect with a large communal kitchen, stocked with amenities, lots of outdoor seating, and two guest suites. We, along with our dogs, had an amazing time and we’ll be back for sure!

The house is set up with two separate "apts" which worked well for us since we were traveling with friends. The common area includes a fully stocked kitchen, sitting area, and our favorite--the patio. We spent every night enjoying wine and appetizers on the patio and enjoying the view of the meadow nearby.

Looks exactly like the photos. We have traveled quite a bit with another couple and it’s so refreshing to have two king suites. Brigit and Casey thought of everything and also gave us great recommendations for the area. I would highly recommend!

We had a wonderful holiday retreat with family at this charming home away from home. The owners clearly put a lot of care into the details with highlights that included double ovens/dishwashers/stoves, heated bathroom floors, and a cozy wood stove. We enjoyed an on-site family Christmas dinner, with offsite local winery visits and a visit to the hot springs. Truly a Christmas for the books.

Casey met us at the property and gave us all the information we needed for our stay. The two fully equipped en-suites were beautifully designed and appointed right up to the heated bathroom floors. The kitchen was every cook’s dream and the views of the property from the kitchen were so calming. It was a bit chilly during our visit so we couldn’t enjoy the outdoor area. We would definitely stay here again or recommend it. It’s ideal for two couples traveling together.

We would highly recommend this property. Casey was there to greet us and walked us through everything we needed to know. The main room was a perfect place to gather, and then each room was its own retreat for each couple. We also loved that both rooms were master suites. Great location too. It was a perfect getaway with friends.

We had an incredible time at The Refugio! The house is so spacious and inviting for up to 6 people. Two luxurious suites with a private fire pit/patio attached. The kitchen was wonderful to cook in with two stoves, two ovens, spices and well stocked with pots/pans. Brigit and Casey were incredible hosts; they were accessible whenever we needed them but yet let you have your privacy. We hated to leave the property but will be back for sure!! Oh it was a very short distance to Downtown Paso and to most wineries!!

The house was amazing! Sitting on the porch, watching the stars (even saw some shooting stars) enjoying our Paso wine, just doesn’t get any better!!! It’s close to town and wineries, but you feel like you are in Tuscany! Thank you Brigid and Casey for sharing your beautiful home! We will be back!!!

I booked Refugio because I loved the 2 suite layout. It's a great setup. We were originally planning to have my mother with us. That ended up not happening so it was just my husband I me, but the layout is perfect for 2 couples. Each suite has a sitting area and an ensuite bathroom. We loved the quiet, peaceful, country like location. The kitchen has everything you need and is beautiful. I loved sitting on the patio for dinner or to have my tea in the morning. I hope to come back to Paso Robles and Refugio!!! It's a special place

Beautiful home, well appointed, very comfortable beds/linens, amazing kitchen! I would highly recommend this home if you are looking for an alternative to a hotel in Paso. Very quiet location — easy access to vineyards and downtown dining (a short drive from the home). The hosts were very gracious and accommodating. Both bedrooms are en-suite and both have dual sinks, which makes this a great home if you’re traveling with another couple (or with kids). Very quiet, great location, beautiful home — highly recommend!

Delightful peace
We loved our stay for the sunny mornings on the shaded porch, the evenings by the fire pit, and all the time spent in such a spacious kitchen made more spacious with the panel doors that let in the fresh air. Our hosts provided terrific recommendations for wineries and restaurants as well. Thank you for the peaceful and playful respite.

Outstanding!
Our stay at Refugio was everything we hoped for and then some…
The place is absolutely gorgeous and incredibly cozy. It also is super peaceful yet just a short drive to all sorts of great spots. An unexpected and wonderful surprise was the mooing cows and bleating goats next door (don’t worry - it’s fun and not at all disruptive) - we absolutely loved it!
Brigit and Casey were awesome hosts with such thoughtful details in the place as well as great recommendations for checking out all that Paso has to offer.
We really loved Refugio and hope to visit again.
