About this cabin rental
Whispering Waters has been described as "a band aid for the soul". It is a charming cozy chalet style cabin in the spectacularly beautiful Cascade Mountains of northwest Washington state. The cabin sits on the bank of scenic Skykomish River 60 miles/90 minutes northeast of Seattle, 23 miles west of Stevens Pass Ski Mountain.
The cabin is ideal if you're looking for a romantic getaway. The soaring cathedral ceiling creates a romantic ambiance, as well as a river view from the loft king bed, balcony, and seasonal river rock gas fireplace. The loft's french doors reveal a view of large moss-covered trees on a wooded lot next to the cabin, and the balcony is a scenic place for morning coffee as you listen to the river "whisper" by.
The 600 sq ft vacation rental cabin is perfect for two celebrating an anniversary, honeymoon, or a romantic getaway. The downstairs bedroom has a queen bed, available if you don’t want to climb stairs , bath with shower, outdoor hot tub. Base rate is for 2 people/one bed.
Whispering Waters cabin is in a small rural non-incorporated community in the Cascade Mountains. The closest restaurant is 9 miles away, and the closest grocery store is 13 miles away, though nearby Baring Store has snacks and basic grocery items. With the well equipped kitchen, most guests bring food to prepare simple meals.
If you like the outdoors, the cabin's nearby location to three wilderness areas and a national forest makes it an ideal base. Nearby hiking is fantastic with trails and roads ranging from easy family walks to challenging. There is something for everyone including many mountain lakes, historic lookout towers, alpine meadows, historic railroad sites, mountain ridge hikes and the Pacific Crest trail that crosses US Hwy 2 at Stevens Pass.
Other local activities are river rafting, kayaking, skiing, snow shoeing, rock climbing, fishing, and off-roading.
Whispering Waters cabin is also wonderful for a relaxing getaway. The rocking chairs on the cabin's front porch are guests' favorites for watching the river flow by and bird watching - hummingbirds in the garden, mergansers floating down the river, and the occasional eagle or Osprey soaring by. There are also lounge chairs for relaxing, sunbathing in the front yard or possibly star gazing.
To add to your relaxing getaway, and to ease sore muscles after a day on the trails or ski slopes, the hot tub is just steps out the front door. The hot tub has a view of the Cascade Mountains looming above scenic Skykomish River. The tub is covered with a translucent roof to maintain the outdoors ambiance but protects from the elements when needed.
A cabin stay isn't complete without an aromatic crackling fire next to the river bank. The fire bowl is year-round, weather permitting and there is no burn ban, common in the dry summer months. Firewood is not provided but can be purchased at most area grocers.
The cabin is in a semi-private location with two cabins across the river and a quiet full-time residence downstream, with fencing and landscaping to provide privacy. Empty wooded lots next to the cabin contribute to a woodsy ambiance. The deciduous trees on the river bank are trimmed to maintain a river view while providing summer privacy.
The king bed in the loft has a river and woods view. A queen bed in the downstairs bedroom provides room for an additional person, or if you don't want to climb the somewhat steep stairs. Please let me know if you prefer the downstairs bed instead of the loft so it will be made available. Bedding, extra pillows, and towels provided. Both beds have newer mattresses; a luxury medium firm king in the loft, downstairs a firm queen mattress with a foam topper. The topper can be removed if you prefer firmness. NOTE: To simplify COVID cleaning, the downstairs bedroom is available only when there are more than two people or with an additional cleaning fee.
A small kitchen is set up for simple meal prep, and the river view dining table seats up to 4. The kitchen area has a gas range/oven, refrigerator/freezer/ice maker, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker, French press, bean grinder, blender/food processor, and hand mixer. Starter supply of coffee, tea, & sugar provided. Dishes, pots/pans, kitchen towels, flatware & cooking utensils also provided. Some pantry items may be on hand.
Charcoal grill with charcoal chimney on the riverside porch (bring briquettes), with a river view.
This Washington vacation cabin is super cozy in winter with the river rock gas fireplace. For entertainment, there is Fubo, WiFi, Netflix, board games, puzzles, a few paperbacks, and Sky Valley area information book.
The area around Whispering Waters is not 'touristy' (i.e. not highly developed), yet attracts thousands of visitors due to the rugged beauty of Washington state's rural Cascade Mountains and the outdoor recreation provided by the mountains and rivers.
The cabin is on the south fork Skykomish River, mostly a class II whitewater rafting, kyaking, and the occasional SU paddle boarder. A good float is from Skykomish ball park 9 miles east/upstream to Baring. Be aware that there are 3 sets of non-navigable waterfalls three miles downstream, west of the cabin. Mid to late summer the river is gentle enough for you to bring river tubes. Though the water is still cold, it is very refreshing when the air temperature rises. The main Skykomish 6 miles west is a class IV whitewater river, with local rafting companies providing trips through popular Boulder Drop. Rafting season is usually May to early-mid July.
The south fork Skykomish with it's sparkling clear water is a Washington Scenic River with seasonal (June 1-Nov 30) fishing for trout and white fish. Even though it is a whitewater river, there is a fairly calm area in front of the cabin for cold water swimming on warmer summer days. The rapids just past the cabin are mild enough in late summer for family tubing. NOTE: there are three sets of waterfalls starting 3 miles downstream of the cabin. Kayakers and rafters start upstream in Skykomish, 8 miles east, or Money Creek for a four mile float. There is a small rocky beach below the cabin, and is a good place to enjoy the cool river breeze on the occasional hot day. Chairs can be placed in the river to cool off even more. Western Washington weather is usually mild throughout the summer but there will be some hot days. Even on hot days the night temps drop into the mid 50's to low 60's which cools the cabin with "natural air conditioning".
Stevens Pass ski area 23 miles east is a popular day-use ski/snowboard area. Whispering Waters cabin is on the west side of Stevens Pass, so you don't have to drive over a mountain pass if coming from the Puget Sound/Seattle area.
At 775 ft elevation, there is not a lot of snow in the winter, but a short drive up the mountain will usually get you to snow. The roads to the cabin are usually snow free in the winter; but one should be prepared for winter driving when coming to the mountains approx. late November to March. Check road conditions and weather report before coming to the cabin Nov-March in case traction devices are needed.
For a festive look, the cabin is decorated for the winter holidays with lights and garlands.
We pride ourselves on providing well maintained very clean rental cabin. We also provide more personal touches than non-local management companies.
We have many repeat customers, drawn back to the beauty of the area and the coziness of the cabins.
Arrival time 3pm or any time after; departure by 11am.
This cabin may is not suitable for small children due to the proximity of the river, an unfenced pond, and stairs both inside and out.
Be aware that the cabin is about two blocks from an active highway and train tracks. Trees and vegetation block much of the sound, and most outdoor activities are on the river side of the cabin with the sound of the river providing relaxing white sound.
There is a recording driveway camera.

We loved our stay at the cabin. We had Everything we needed to make our three days just perfect. The view out the back is priceless!!! We wished the weather had been better so we could have enjoyed the outside amenities more. We did. however, use the hot tub both nights and it was great!
We hope to be able to come back another time. We will be sure to recommend your place to others heading your way!!?

The cabin is a lovely hideaway; a cozy place to spend a few days to relax watching the river flow. For entertainment, there’s a pile of puzzles, lots of DVDs, and even streaming services. All of the little things you’d need are waiting for you in the kitchen and throughout the home, making the stay more enjoyable. I would definitely stay again!

Well appointed cozy cabin, our anniversary weekend was perfect at this property.

We came to this cabin by the river in hopes to get some way overdue R&R—I was on the verge of complete burnout and mentally not well; my fiancé and I found such peace and tranquility at this cabin and the nature surrounding. I feel re-centered and more connected with my Fiance and myself. We will definitely be back!

We spent our honeymoon at this amazing and beautiful cabin. From the minute we parked our car we knew it was going to be perfect. Very easy to get into and it had everything you could need during your stay. The cabin is very cozy and felt like home. It was decorated super cute and was so clean! The views of the river and mountains were stunning. Having direct river access was fun. We used the BBQ and the fire pit almost daily. The hot tub was so nice and relaxing, even during the rain because it was covered. We had coffee and listened to the river every morning. During our stay Brad was so helpful and very kind when we needed help with our car. Glad we actually got to meet him. We will definitely be back next year. Would totally recommend!

My Wife and I found this listing and chose it for our 20th wedding anniversary. We could not have been happier with our stay. quiet, clean and very relaxing. a big plus for me was the shower, being able to stand underneath the showerhead with me at 6'4" is a rare thing anywhere outside of my home. I am bookmarking this and we plan on booking it again.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Whispering Waters. The cabin was quite clean and most things you could want were provided. The hosts clearly put thought into providing relevant supplies and instructions to ensure a comfortable stay. Wonderful views from the property and excellent access to the water. The waterfall and natural landscaping really gave a magical experience. I will say, there is a definite woody/rustic odor to the cabin when you first get there but we quickly became accustomed to it. Road and train noise is audible at times given the proximity to the highway, but is often drown out by the river.

Celebrated 39 year wedding anniversary. It was a wet and cold weekend but perfect for the hot tub, drinking coffee and watching the swollen Skykomish river. It’s cozy, very clean and a spectacular view of the river. Thank for hosting!

AMAZING! So beautiful!!
Wow! Where to begin. The property is even more beautiful than shown online. The views of the mountains, woods, and river all made our jaws drop. The hot tub looking out into the views and river was definitely used daily. The lofted bedroom was incredible with a window right above the bed to let in sunlight or fresh air, the king bed was super comfortable and loaded with thick pillows, and I loved the little loft patio nook!! (Definitely read a lot up there.) I will say the shower is very tiny but in light of everything else it really is so minor. Fast internet and the hosts even had TVs with streaming services like Netflix and many board games. The hosts had lots of kitchen amenities that made getting groceries helpful and stress-free. Seattle is only an hour and 15 minutes away, but with such a beautiful drive through the valleys seeing the mountains and cozy small towns it feels much shorter! Thank you Brad for such a great stay!! We were sad to leave!

Honeymoon
This was the perfect getaway for us. Very romantic atmosphere, beautiful scenery, within minutes of trails for hiking, and only an hours drive to Leavenworth. Cabin is equipped with all the amenities we needed for our stay.

Great cabin!
We loved this rustic cabin with covered hot tub and the sound of the nearby rapids. The only downside was a nearby property being used as a dumping ground and/or homeless camp. You cannot see this blight on the neighborhood from the cabin and our stay was very relaxing and pleasant. We plan on returning thus summer.

Beautiful spot
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Whispering Waters. I wish the weather was cooler, however the owner provided fans and hooked up a portable AC. The stay would have been miserably hot without that. The view is absolutely beautiful, you can’t beat the location. The cabinet is comfortable, clean, well thought out and equipped well. The stairs to the main bedroom are definitely steep. We had little to no cell service at the cabin as well as surrounding areas, so that’s something to consider. We hope to stay again in the future during a time when it’s less likely to be blistering hot.

Blissful!
Our stay was wonderful! Despite the rainy weather we relaxed in the hot tub, enjoyed the fire place, played many games and spent a great deal of time out listening to the river. We even found an easy hike nearby! It was just as described! Highly recommend!

Purfectly Purfect
Location is stunning.
The cabin is adorable. Decorated so cute, very clean, welcoming and everything we needed was supplied. We came prepared with firewood as suggested. Relaxing in the hot tub after dusk while still able to view the river, then after dark you hear the river from the hot tub but now you are watching the fire..so relaxing!!

This place was amazing and exactly what we were looking for. It was so quiet and romantic and the perfect place to spend Christmas. Sitting on the back deck or hot tub and looking up at the frosted mountain tops was perfect.
Janet provided everything we needed and even touched base via email to ensure we had everything as well. Would highly recommend this place and will make it a go to place next time we're looking for a getaway.

5 Star Experience in Cozy Washington Cabin
If you are thinking about going to Washington or have been before, definitely GO (or go again)! What a beautiful place. Baring is such a nice, small, quiet town just an hour and 45 minutes from the Seattle airport. Janet's Cabin is so lovely, clean, and peaceful. She was very accommodating to our needs and has excellent communication. My husband and I stayed a week for our "babymoon" as our last hoorah before we start a family. I know now that once our baby is grown, we will definitely return! Be sure to visit as many national parks + forests as you can. Vancouver, Canada is also a short drive away. All in all, I highly recommend. 5 Star.

Perfect getaway
We loved our stay. Everything was well laid out and organized. With night lights and motion sensor lights in the right places and clear explanatory signs, everything was simple and easy to use and navigate. The river and mountain views were gorgeous and the kitchen had everything we needed. Loved the hot tub as well. I also appreciate that strong perfumes (like patchouli) are not allowed! Would definitely book again.

Was an amazing experience! Would ABSOLUTELY recommend. For the price, you couldn’t get better!
Our experience here was amazing! It felt home-like yet luxurious! My husband wanted to get away for our five year Wedding Anniversary and we couldn’t have picked a more perfect place. We ate all our meals in the cabin and there was everything we needed an more on hand. There was even a card wishing us a Happy Anniversary which I felt was a very personalized and thoughtful touch. We will most definitely be returning again!

Fantastic Anniversary in a Beautiful Place
Thank you Janet and Brad. We cannot recommend your location enough. For those of you looking for the perfect setting ; quiet, peaceful with beautiful views; this is the place for you. The cabin had everything you could want. It was close enough to area sites and forest paths for any hikers. You are close enough to Seattle but we chose to stay in the mountain and went to Leavenworth twice and Skykomish for dinner one night and walk around the little town. We truly loved the fact that you could leave the windows open and still hear the gentle sound of the river. We cannot say enough good things about this cabin and we will return again. Thank you again Janet and Brad for a most memorable 30th anniversary trip.

What a wonderful little cabin on the river! Just what we needed, everything was wonderful, only wish we could have bottled it up!
