We had a wonderful week at the cabin... it was extremely clean, and well equipped. It's a fairly remote location (the last couple of miles is on an unpaved road) but not isolated; there are several houses in the area. We enjoyed viewing the lake and listening to the loons from the front porch. There's no A/C, but it wasn't needed for our week in mid July.
The owners are great, and very accommodating. Hope to stay again soon!

Another wonderful stay at the Scamper Inn. This is our third year staying here. The location is great to Okemo and restaurants while being off the beaten path which makes walking the dogs a treat. The cabin is cozy with everything that you need in a full kitchen. Sharon keeps adding new touches each year and is very thoughtful about every detail. Sharon is also very responsive and checks in at just the right times. A great find!

Family, Dog and I loved walking through the beautiful wooded area around the lake and checkin out the ice fisherman on the lake. Only saw one other person each time walking west of cabin.

This cabin has a distinct feel of being somebody else's home in the best way. It's nothing fancy, but filled with personal and thoughtful touches that makes it feel welcoming and cozy, like visiting a relative's. Paul and Sharon went out of their way to make sure we had anything we might need, both with amenities and gracious advice. They were very responsive and so kind, and especially forgiving of our anxious pup (thank you and sorry, again, guys!). We sincerely enjoyed our stay!

Had a very nice few days at this cabin. Host was excellent with communicating and giving us suggestions of restaurants and places to visit. Clean and had everything we needed for us and our 2 pups. Loved how quiet the area is and the view of the lake was beautiful especially at sunrise.

We had a lovely time at the cabin. It had everything we needed - stocked kitchen, fun games, great books, dog bed/bowls/bags. We took the short walk to the lake every day and had it completely to ourselves. The town nearby was cute and had some good shopping. Just remember to pack some butter/oil for any cooking. The closest grocery was not close and also was not open. Would definitely recommend this cabin for a peaceful getaway!

We had everything we needed at the cozy cabin. We were surprised with all the skinny dippers on the lake which did not prevent us from kayaking, swimming, and fishing. You could still see the devastation from the floods earlier in July but we were still able to enjoy many hiking trials. We had a nice stay and recommend the cozy cabin for a quiet get away

Our stay could not have been more peaceful, serene, and just overall lovely. Sharon’s cabin is quaint and well-kept and was perfect for our little family (husband, 6-month old, and dog). We enjoyed walking around the lake area, finding nearby hikes to go to, and sitting on the private beach. We did not utilize the kayaks but it’s awesome that she has them to use. We absolutely loved being able to snuggle up on the porch with coffee and a book every morning. This was just what the doctor ordered for us, and Sharon went above and beyond in hosting, responsiveness and kindness. Would 100% recommend staying here!

The cabin was very peaceful and super clean, didn’t expect it to be sooo immaculate! Sharon was extremely helpful and responsive to questions and suggestions on what could be done in the area for the kids and our dog, we all had a wonderful stay and hated to leave!

The log cabin was so cozy! We felt like we were staying at our family’s little cabin getaway. The property was just as Sharon described it. It’s a very nice sized log cabin with a lake view. We sat and enjoyed coffee on the front porch looking at the lake every morning. The lake is a very short walk down a little rocky road. The little beach is tiny but cute. We thoroughly enjoyed the use of the kayaks. The lake is very quiet and calm. A nice size lake to kayak, not too big, not too small. We did not fish, but a nice family was kayaking and fishing and we were told that the fishing was very good. Maybe next time. Our dog Charlie even enjoyed the kayak. Sharon went out of her way to to accommodate our furry family member. To say they’re dog friendly is an understatement. They’re dog loving! The kitchen had everything we needed to make ourselves at home. And on a couple occasions when we did not want to cook for ourselves, Ludlow was the cutest little town nearby for some great drinks and meals. A very short drive from the cabin. Lots to do in the area, but if you’re looking to unwind and relax, the cabin is sufficient enough on its own. We would 100% stay there again.

Cabin is amazing, very cozy and friendly. Sharon is fantastic owner and caring owner. You will find in the house everything you need for your stay including sharp knives what is very rare in renting houses :). We and our 4 leg baby enjoyed staying in the cabin.

This is our second year staying at the Scamper Inn! The cabin is very clean, well equipped, has a large 2 car carport and has plenty of room to relax. The internet is dependable and speedy. Sharon is very responsive and accommodating to ensure a pleasant stay. The cabin is a 10 minute drive to Okemo and downtown Ludlow. It is also a short drive to Killington and fun little towns. Being a dog friendly house is great! The cabin is set back off the road and right across the street is a lake and quiet trails to explore.

We really enjoyed our stay! beautiful little cabin with very nice views. cabin was clean and fully stocked and ready for guests.
owners of cabin are close by and will be there if needed, had a very windy night when we were there and Paul called and offered to cut a down tree so we had boat access to lake! Would recommend 10/10. We plan on a return trip next year!

The cabin is beautiful and in a great location. All the amenities you could ask for. Clean, quiet and perfect for a getaway from the hectic pace of life. Only regret that we have - is that we didn’t stay longer.

We can’t say enough good things about Scamper Inn! One of our best getaways. So peaceful and relaxing. Everything was exactly as we expected and so clean and tidy. Our vehicle broke down on our last day ( because why wouldn’t it when you’re on vacation lol ) and Sharon was wonderful and more then accommodating. Highly recommend!

We cannot say enough good things about our stay here! The house was clean and well stocked with lots of games and books. We played board games every night...the kids actually put down their phones! The porch is a great place to enjoy your morning tea/coffee, the view of the lake or a thunderstorm (we saw quite the light show!). The lake access is an easy walk. The lake itself is clean, quiet and serene. We loved that we were able to use the kayaks provided. The night sky is free from light pollution and was unbelievable (we caught sight of many shooting stars). There is also more to do close by including summer activities at Okemo Mountain and swimming at Buttermilk Falls. Lastly, Sharon and Paul answered every question I had and provided us with lots of information about the area, and were super nice. We definitely will be back!

We wanted to get away for a few days and felt that this cabin fit the criteria for a chance to unplug and relax. To be able to sit on the front porch with the view of Lake Nineveh and listen to the loons was wonderful. The owners were great and checked up on us when the power went out in the area to make sure the generator kicked in. We wish we were able to stay longer but we will certainly keep this place in mind when we are looking for our next getaway.

This was our second stay at Scamper Inn and we loved it. Nothing like having coffee in the morning on the porch and listening to the loons on the lake. We hiked, kayaked and enjoyed time with family. Highly recommend! Sharon is a wonderful host and very responsive and helpful.

Perfect weekend retreat
We booked this amazing cottage for ourselves, our 15 year-old and 2 dogs as a last minute get-away and couldn't have been happier. The cottage was nicely appointed with books, puzzles, comfortable couches and beds, a well-stocked kitchen (cooking utensils, etc), and a lovely porch. We thoroughly enjoyed taking out the kayaks and swimming from the convenient private beach.
Communication with the owner was very easy and thorough, including helpful tips on local restaurants. We hope to return!

The property was very nice. A little too small for a family with two adult children, but very well kept. We all had an enjoyable time!

Would definitely rent this property again when in the area! The small private beach and available kayak/canoe were a real plus!

Great experience!
Cozy little cabin just 10-15 minutes from Okemo. Everything was exactly as we expected based on the listing and our family had a really great stay.
We arrived very late at night in the pouring rain and the covered carport next to the cabin was such a blessing and so nice as we came back from skiing as well. The hosts went above and beyond to make our arrival easy and to make sure all we had to do was arrive and fall into bed - thank you!
We woke the first morning and were pleasantly surprised by the view of Lake Ninevah - it was so beautiful and really unexpected - I looked forward to it each morning.
It was also such a treat to find a pet friendly property and be able to not have to worry about using a kennel. I agree with another reviewer that you couldn't tell another pet had ever been there. Everything was so clean and well tended.
I wish we could have taken advantage of the front porch with that great view, but it was a little cold to sit outside! Thank you Sharon and Paul - we will definitely return again!

Perfect cabin in the woods close to Okemo
The cabin was perfect! Very clean and plenty of space for us. The kitchen was very well equipped beyond expectations and everything you might need was available in the house. The carport was a bonus. Sharon was a pleasure to interact with! A 10 minute drive to the mountain and lots of woods to explore with the dogs.

A rustic cozy relaxing DOG FRIENDLY winter break
Scamper Inn was exactly what we were looking for; super cozy, convenient to both Okemo and Killington ski resorts, private, spacious, cozy reading nooks, excellent water pressure, dog friendly, and with GREAT views. The covered front porch was the perfect place to sip a hot spiked drink while watching the snow fall. We felt like we were at our own weekend home and immediately felt comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare full meals when not eating in or taking away from restaurants in Ludlow. The covered garage eliminated the need to scrape ice and snow off the car each morning making it possible to sleep in just a few more minutes before driving to the mountain. The wifi connection was excellent making telework possible. The view from the dining room table made my work colleagues jealous when they saw my backdrop on zoom calls. Walks to frozen Lake Ninevah kept the dogs super happy. Rural roads in Vermont are very well-maintained making travel safe and easy. We would definitely return.

Easy Thanksgiving Stay
Excellent communication and a great location. Somewhat of a no frills cabin but still a great find. The best stocked/supplied kitchen of any rental property we've ever stayed at and a TON of games/puzzles/activities to keep you occupied. Had an unexpected snow storm but the driveway was plowed early and often.

Wonderful Long Weekend
Owners could not have been nicer or more helpful. They even came over -- on very short notice -- to let us in after we had locked ourselves out of the cabin. Overall....a very enjoyable weekend.

We stayed at Sharon's property recently for a long weekend. It was myself, my mum, and my dog. Sharon was great - she was communicative and helpful from the start, offering info on the area, and making the check-in (and out!) process a pleasant breeze. As noted by other reviewers, despite this being a dog-friendly cabin, you couldn't tell another dog had ever been here! The cabin was super clean, spacious, and comfortable. WiFi worked fast without an issue. Depending on your service provider, your cell reception may be spotty in this area. But that might be a good thing :) The cabin is a quick, 3-5m (if that) walk to a private beach on Lake Ninevah. Can't wait to book this property and stay again soon.
