About this house rental
The apartment has one bedroom, one bathroom and a kitchen stocked with basic kitchen tools and utinsils. The apartment is located at the back of the home and is a basement apartment. There is additional sleeping in the living room area for a total of up to 5. For pilots, the home is located on a private runway with tie downs. For non pilots, or those concerned about aircraft noise, the owner is the only one flying in or out of the runway. Air traffic is very minimal. The home sets in a quiet neighborhood tucked in the woods with mountain views from a short stroll in front of the house.

Very secluded and quiet. Good instructions from owner for finding the property. The two beds are in separate rooms which we appreciated. Has a nice kitchenette although we did not use.

Our host Joe was attentive to our questions and needs. The place is a downstairs apartment and was quite adequate for our four adults. We would have enjoyed use of the deck and outside furniture so we could have sat outside. Typical to most Alaskan homes in the interior, everything has a second or third life so there are number of vehicles, etc... around the outside of the property. Loved being in the country seating with a private runway. The dog Koda is very friendly and welcomes you on every arrival.

I stayed here March 2023 and used as a base while out Mushing and Winter Camping in the Park. I checked in late around 7PM due to traveling from Anchorage. Host was very nice and professional and even helped me carry my bags to the apartment. Everything was great. Beds were comfortable. Everything needed for cooking, stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, etc. was available. Shower was nice and hot and had great water pressure. Water quality was also good too and didn't smell or appear rusty like much of the ground water in AK is. I enjoyed staying here as it was perfect for my needs and the location was very convenient. I would definitely stay here again.

The basement apartment is pretty small and basic, but is perfectly adequate. It is a short drive from Denali, and makes an excellent base for trips into the park. We saw a moose on the owner's landing strip.

One night stay
We stayed in this location on our way from Fairbanks to Anchorage. Wanted a place to stay that was close to Denali Park. This fit the needs. One comment I would make is there was a shortage of washcloths and hand towels. Other than that we were very pleased with our stay.

Nice grass airstrip - handy for our group
Since we had both a small plane and private vehicle for our group, this home was handy. The downstairs unit is a bit dark in terms of not much natural light, but that could be an advantage for those who find the Alaska "midnight sun" too much for sleeping. When we had questions or requests, the owner was very responsive.

We had a 3 night stays here and we really enjoyed our quiet relaxing vacation. Every night we get back from our long hiking trips from Denali, we were greeted by two super friendly dogs, Coda and Trigger. They are so so sweet, I almost wanted to kidnap them and bring them back to California. LOL

Good for solo or larger groups
I was solo traveling through AK and the host let me stay at the last second when I decided not to camp. I appreciated that there was plenty of space in the basement guest house, since it can be a little nerve wracking when solo, but he was very courteous. He also let me know when the northern lights were occurring, which was beautiful bc the location is remote enough that there’s no light pollution but only 1-2 miles of the main road. I really appreciated my stay and time here!

Denali Lottery Weekend
This location is in Healy, AK. About 5 min way from a grocery store and a little further to the famous 49th State Restaurant (only open in the Summer). It is about a 20-25 min drive out from the Denali National Park Entrance. We stayed here the Denali Lottery Weekend and it was a spacious basement with two queens and a futon. We traveled with a baby, toddler, and preschooler and this location fulfilled our needs. It could easily sleep 6 larger humans if you needed it. We brought our own travel crib, but they did have one available in their closet. They also had kids toys and movies appropriate children. In addition, they had everything we needed to cook a couple of simple meals. Overall, the owners and their animals were very friendly. We had a beautiful weekend at the park with full views of Denali!
Note: They have Wifi, but cell service was limited while in the basement (it's to be expected).

Perfect location
This was a perfect location for our time in Denali National Park. The apartment was comfortable and well stocked. Joe and Carol were welcoming and quick to respond to questions. We would definitely stay here again!

Affordable Base to Explore Denali
This basement apartment provided my family of five a fine base for our trip to Denali. It would have been a bit tight if we’d spent much time there, but it worked great for preparing meals in the fully equipped kitchen and sleeping.

We liked how Close it was to Denali national park. The hosts are friendly, the accommodations are extremely clean, and we stayed two days and used the full-size kitchen for cooking some of our meals. This location in Healy has a brand new three bears grocery hardware and C-store which makes it really convenient.

Nice, laid back location
Overall, this was a good location to stay near Denali NP and we enjoyed it. It advertises to be 15 minutes from entrance. It is closer to 25 minutes though, if you drive the speed limit.
The best parts -
Joseph and his family were very kind and friendly. Even gave us an egg we needed for cooking. :) they didn't bother us at all and were reachable by phone or in person if we needed anything.
Nice neighborhood by the grass airstrip - nice, open area to walk around. Pretty views.
Good chance of seeing moose and other wildlife at the property although we didn't see any our 2 nights.
Joseph accommodated us parking our RV on the property since we had 9 family members to lodge all together. No charge since we didn't need electricity and were self-sufficient in the camper.

Not the best parts...
Since the lodging is a basement apartment, there is very little to no natural light coming in. Great for sleeping, but otherwise, it does feel dark inside. Lights were pretty good inside though. I just like natural light.
Furniture/decor/appliances could use some updating or sprucing up. Some things seemed a bit dingy. Not bad, but not real nice either. The bathroom sink either didn't get cleaned or it had white powder cleaner residue that didn't get rinsed off? I just wiped it down and hoped it was the latter. The bed in the main room is very firm.
Kitchen was stocked fairly well, but definitely with odds and ends for utensils, pans, etc. If we didn't find something we needed, we supplemented with what we had in our camper, so it worked fine.
Overall though, it was a decent place to stay for sure. I think with a bit more "sprucing up", this would easily be a top notch rental!

Perfect location for Denali visit
Peaceful, quiet and dark. Great for relaxing after a busy day. Only 15 minutes from Denali NP; convenient grocery store in town. Owner was easy to communicate with and very friendly upon arrival. Our kids loved playing with Koda and Trigger.

Bigger than the photos look
Upon arrival we were wowed by breathtaking view from the driveway!! Drop dead gorgeous. Too bad you can't see that from inside the house, but go for a walk if you have time! We just stayed for one night, long enough to recoup from travel and head to Denali early. The apartment is bigger than it seemed in photos. It's very clean and inviting. A few card games and some kids movies are available, but the only tv hook up is to the DVD player. The beds are on the hard side... And pillows on the flat side... But all in all we enjoyed out one night stay! You could hear movement upstairs and a muffles TV but it wasn't distracting at all. Joe is very friendly but unintrusive. There needs to be better signage on where to go when you arrive. There's a "North Denali" sign with an arrow but the booking didn't say the apartment has that name. We weren't sure where to park either. But Joe saw us pull in and pointed it out. We'd stay again. Thanks for a quiet nights rest and a gorgeous view!

Joe and his home were amazing. It was the perfect place to stay while we explored the Denali National Park area. Joe was incredibly kind. The house had everything we needed for 4 adults and 1 child. We would stay here again if we return to the area.

Great! Stay!
We arrived late, it was around midnight. We were all cold from our day trip on the Denali bus, it was rainy and dark. We were all so worried it was going to be cold, since we were all from warm places and it was like 40 degrees out.
we were traveling with our 83 year old mother and concerned about it being dark. He left a light on for us and when we walked in the beds were made up and very nice in warm.
I would recommend everyone to stay there. It added to our Alaska adventure.

Clean and nice
Close to Denali, nicely decorated. Basement apmt , with only 2 windows and heard nosies from above, just like a hotel could be. Loved the owners recommendation of Fly Denali to land on a glacier. Newer local grocery store had fresh salad and spaghetti stuff we made in kitchen 1 night. Had great fish-n-chips, salmon and yak burgers at 49th State Brewery in Healy. Many hiking options in Ntln park were great, as well as sled dog demos.
