Bill was a great host. Super quick to respond and always kind and gracious. The property severed our family of 23 perfectly. The extra large fridge was great and the dinning room table was well used! We brought our own pickle ball set and set it up in the basketball area. Hours of family fun. The room with the antique piano was special to our musical family. We brought along our violins, cellos, and horns and played music together every day. We would definitely stay here again if we were all in the area.

We really enjoyed staying at this home. It was very unique and everyone loved it. There was plenty of room for all. The only draw back was the bathroom situation. Four bedrooms had private baths. The rest had to share one that was in the basement. It was not convenient.

Beautiful home on outstanding property! We were 10-15 minutes away from everything but didn't need to leave the property because it had it all: land, outdoor games, firepits, etc.

The house was just what we needed. Plenty of room, and we love the layout. The location was close to the airport, which we visited 6 times to get family in and out for our grandmother's funeral. Host was very helpful! Very clean.

Bill was a fabulous host! Great communicator.
Check in and out was a breeze.
Our large family included infants, children and teens. The outdoor space was perfect for playing! The adults enjoyed the fire pit and outdoor lighting.
My elderly father had a perfect stay in the quaint apartment on the property. It was nice for him to come and go as he needed. The baby grand piano was also a nice touch as many in the family play. Finally, Bill thought of everything as he decorated the home for Christmas! Minutes away from anything we needed it was the perfect stay! Thanks again, Bill. We will be back.

My family from around the country chose Asheville as the place to spend a long weekend to celebrate Christmas together. This home has enough bedrooms to fit everyone. It definitely has historic charm!! We appreciated the christmas decorations and patio heaters around the fire pit. The homeowner was friendly, easy to contact and allowed our pets

We picked this location because our daughter wanted a cute cottage in Asheville to stay in. Our family which is 8 plus her in laws, a family of 9 all stayed here. Other family members stayed at other rentals in the area and we all got together for dinner one evening and still had plenty of room!! We had children ages 6-18 and they all enjoyed playing in the huge yard, with the basketball goal, and many extras in the garage. This property has so much character and history. Well worth every penny. Would definitely return!

We had a great weekend. House is rustic but well maintained. Some issues with ovens working but Bill was very responsive and attentive.

The property was absolutely beautiful with so much space and amenities for our family to enjoy while attending our son’s Wedding. Plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms and loved the cottage. The history and unique features such as the library, large dining room and outside entertainment space made it just perfect! We will definitely stay again when in Asheville.
Thank you Bill for being a great host. We appreciate the communication, updates and getting us extra firewood when we needed it!

Prior to writing this review I reached out to the owner to share our feedback. Bill
however threw everything back at me stating that it was “our responsibility” to report these issues to him. Frankly we were on vacation and for what we paid, this house should have been “ready” for us to enjoy.
Upon arrival the owner contacted me to inform of a few items that were not working (the top oven), broken (handrail on staircase) and the musty smell in the cottage. I felt slightly deceived of the last minute information.
This home needs attention, there were several lights burned out, the sofa cushions were worn and torn and some of the knobs did not work properly.
In the kitchen the silverware drawer falls off track when pulled open that a few times almost fell on our toes.
Many cobwebs in the bedrooms and the lower bedroom and cottage smelled musty (even with windows opened the smell would not go away….concerning that we have been breathing in mold)
Bill promised me a refund…. which I’m still waiting to see.

Family gathered to spread the ashes of my parents. There was plenty of room for a large dining time with a fire pit time after. Little ones played with toys and read books. Late night movies at the couch followed. A great place to restore after some somber times during the day. Beautiful home and grounds outside!

My husband and I planned this trip to spend with our younger siblings and their families. All in all we had 19 people at the house ranging in age from 2 - 46 years old. We had a blast! The kids had a great time playing outside, we held an epic cornhole tournament, used the fire pit every night and we even had a surprise marriage proposal! (She said yes!) Some of the kiddos asked if we could do this again next year - and we just might :)

Bills property amazed us in every way! The outside is absolutely stunning! And then going inside it has such a historic charm with touches of modern updates! We loved walking through each room and seeing the different styles of each one. We were celebrating our wedding and there was plenty of room for the 17 of us!! Bill was very responsive and even checked in to make sure we did not need anything! We would 100% book again if we go back with a big group!

Our family had a wonderful stay at this beautiful family home! My parents, three siblings & their spouses, and our nine children found plenty of space to cook, play, rest, explore, and enjoy each others’ company. Favorites included walks to the lookout, playing in the yard, fires on the patio, spacious comfortable rooms, lots of bathrooms, and cooking together in the kitchen. Bill was an awesome host! We can’t recommend this place enough!

Myself and a large group of high school friends, their spouses, and children stayed at this lovely house for 3 nights. The property was very comfortable with plenty of beds and interior space for our large group as well as a wonderful outdoor space to relax in. The property is quite close to Asheville so we were able to easily enjoy the city and it's surroundings every day and return to this quiet property to relax every evening. Bill and his team were incredibly communicative before and during our stay when we had any questions or concerns. Our entire group had a wonderful time and we would gladly return in the future!

We had people ages 1 to 83. This was a wonderful place to stay. Bedroom on the main floor for my dad who has trouble on stairs was great. Well stocked kitchen for cooking for a large group. You have the quiet peacefulness of being in the country but convenience of the city near by. William was very responsive to our questions and clear about expectations of his guest.

Great location. Grand old home. Plenty of rooms and bathrooms. Assessable and friendly owner. Could use some kitchen upgrades and clean stains on dining room chairs… all of them.

My colleagues and I came on a strategy retreat here, and the home couldn't have been better. Tons of character, lots of space for private moments and team bonding, huge table for meals together and working sessions, lovely outdoor spaces to enjoy the scenery, and comfortable bedding. The kitchen was well appointed, and we enjoyed the grill a few nights for meals. The owner was very accommodating for us, including some special requests that I know weren't simple to execute. We truly appreciate it and I hope I can come back soon!

The only way to describe this property is magic. It's absolutely beautiful and so unique. The owner is very friendly and helpful but we needed nothing at all from him. I love history and this home just made my heart explode. It is such a beautiful place with such cool features. It's huge and the yard is wonderful. Decently quiet, besides the neighbors doggos and some turkeys which we did not mind. The most beautiful place I've yet to visit. Perfect location.

We had a lovely retreat and space to do outdoor yoga at this beautiful space. This old home has a lot of character with clean bedrooms and bathrooms. The owner, Bill, was very responsive to our questions and needs. We would visit again for sure.

Great property with a ton of space inside to spread out. Really unique layout, with a beautiful back yard with a couple of practically tame turkeys wandering around.
Every single one of the group thought it was perfect.

We had the most magical time staying at what our kids called “Snow White’s Cottage”. Staying in the spring time at this property the property is bursting full of lush green grass, all shades of pink azaleas and blanketed with white dogwood trees all around. It’s quit a sight to see! The kids loved running up to the windows every morning and counting how many turkeys were in the yard. There were about 10-15on any given morning/ evening! The house definitely has an older home feel but has been updated with modern technologies. All the bedrooms feel very private and everyone has their own separate quarters. Our group especially loved the “princess room”. Only a 5 min drive to Ingles grocery store, 12 Bones Brewery, White Duck Taco, and an amazing Biscuit Breakfast restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to our friends and would definitely stay here again.

this was a great property for a family reunion. It is hard to find places with so many good-sized bedrooms and plenty of other rooms spaces to gather. The outside area was beautiful and inside there were all the appliances you might need and a generous collection of utensils and plates and glasses. Bill was easy to get in touch with and quick to respond.

Fell in love with the views out of original windows that captivated and inspired me. Moderate hiking trail just behind the property offered a challenge and great views.
Done aware that you need to be very good friends with your traveling companions, as there is a need to go through some bedrooms for a bathroom or two, but it is manageable.

The property was exactly what we were looking for as we were a large group. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, in addition to the cottage. We especially liked the fire pit and large grass yard where we played lawn games.

The family was all in agreement that the house offered us many spaces to hang out. We were able to find places for those who wanted to watch TV, play games or just sit with a book in a quiet place. We loved the fact the tree was still up since we were getting together for Christmas. We had plenty of sleeping places for our various ages and a suite just right for our young family. The cottage was perfect for the grandparents who sometimes needs a little peace and quiet. We could have had a larger dinning table for our large group but everything else was great.
The owner was very helpful since we arrived during a water crisis. He did all he could to make sure our family was all set with clean water and anything else we might need likefixing door knobs. He is a very personable guy. The best owner we have ever had. Thank you Bill for taking care of us.

Step back in time and enjoy the idiosyncrasies of this older home. Many bedrooms but some are odd. William is a super host. It would have gotten 5 stars if the fireplace was cleaned out, if there were some foam pillows, and more firewood.

Owner was very responsive and attentive. Lots of space for everyone to have their own room. Had a few maintenance/upkeep things that could be improved upon

Amazing property. Classic architecture with modern amenities. We were a group of 17 and had plenty of room to either spread out, or all get together.
We cooked every night and the kitchen more than met our needs.
The matresses in all bedrooms are very comfortable with excellent bedding.
Can't recommend this property enough.
I also want to say that for the dozens of houses I have rented for week long family vacations, I have never dealt with a better owner. Friendly, quick to respond and goes out of his way to ensure a first class stay for your family.

My family does our holiday weekend in early November before the holiday season starts. It’s a large group so we needed a large house and Bill’s home was perfect for us. The home is gorgeous and the original features of the home were something our family really enjoyed. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms and they were all equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen was great to make meals and the huge dining table allowed us to eat together. Multiple lounging spaces gave us the room to visit and relax. Owner communication was excellent from start to finish. Everything was communicated up front, at arrival, as well as check out. Any issues or concerns we had during our stay were answered immediately. This was one of the best vacation homes we stayed in, mainly due to Bill’s excellent communication. He truly makes the guests feel at home.

About 14 people from my family traveling from all over the states stayed here together for a few days leading up to a wedding. The home was lovely, spacious, and everyone enjoyed sitting in the backyard. Bill was available anytime I texted him to ask a question and very communicative the entire process. We can tell how much he loves this home. We hope to come back for a family reunion and stay here again! Thank you Bill!
