About this apartment rental
A truly unique location on Mammoth Mountain ! Timber Ridge is the highest location in Mammoth, looking down over Canyon Lodge and the Owens Valley. Ski in and ski out (down) to Chair 8 and Canyon Lodge or to Chair 15 & 24 at Eagle Express where lift tickets are sold and miss the lines at Canyon Lodge. (In the summer these same runs become a world class mountain bike trail). The condo has gorgeous views of the Sherwin Range from the living room and master bedroom. The clubhouse directly across from the condo features 'his and hers' saunas, a large spa and a summertime swimming pool. This small complex is surrounded by the national forest, creating a woodsy, remote atmosphere. Nightlife is down the hill (approximately 2 miles) where there are many excellent restaurants and bars.
Remodeled 'down to the studs' two years ago, the kitchen and bathrooms feature custom cabinetry and stone accents as well as heated travertine floors throughout (except for bedrooms where there is new carpet). Sitting in the living room in front of a roaring fire, the view is of surrounding forest and the Owens Valley below. The kitchen with it's custom cabinetry, new appliances and extensive cookware make it easy to stay in and enjoy a meal at home. The master bedroom invites escape with a flat screen tv, gorgeous view of the Owens Valley from the 4 poster bed and a 3/4 bath featuring a heated floor, custom stone accents and a frameless shower enclosure.
The second bedroom has heated, carpeted floors, mirrored wardrobes and a comfortable extra large chair and ottoman. The double twin trundle bed can be attached to become a king bed. Two large windows make the room light and airy.
The garage is attached with stairway access so there is never a need to unearth your car after a snowstorm. The association owns a snowplow/loader which plows our driveways immediately in the event of a storm.
After a day on the mountain, ski home thru the woods (there are trail markers on Bluejay and Chickadee pointing the way to Timber Ridge). Come home to hot drinks, a crackling fire and beautiful sunset views. Go for a soak and a sauna at the clubhouse across the driveway. Make dinner at home or go to one of the terrific restauants just down the hill.
Area activities include superb cross country skiing (just down Lake Mary Road at the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center), snowmobiling, dog sledding, sledding and back country snowshoeing. Hot springs soaking is popular year around. Summer fun includes golfing, hiking, fishing, backpacking, mountain biking and horseback riding. We are located directly on the world class mountain bike trail that the winter ski runs become in the summer. There are several outlet shops in town including Ralph Lauren and Bass for the less motivated.
As a result of the mountain being developed the last few years, there are more great restaurants and nightlife all over town and on the mountain. Most of the lifts are high speed and enclosed. There is gondola service to the top and to a mid-mountain lodge where skiers and non-skiers can enjoy excellent food at a beautiful restaurant as well as great service at the less formal cafe.
Our favorites restaurants are Nevados and Tamarack Lodge (I never get tired of walking through the enclosed entry lined to the rafters on either side by firewood.) Tamarack is authentic old style lodge with a huge fireplace, lots of deep sofas and hot drinks. They serve French food and have a good wine list. Nevados is very good California cuisine and equally good drinks. A fun, less expensive restaurant we eat at is Angel's, just down the road. The Stove on Old Mammoth Road is an institution that serves huge breakfasts. Our favorite after ski is the Yodler across from Main Lodge. No amount of will power has kept us from Schaat's Bakery, a mecca of wonderful bread, gorgeous pastries, mountain size sandwiches and soups. There is a Schaat's in Bishop and another on the main road to the condo.

I really wanted to like this place as it is a great rate for ski in/out. Unfortunately, I think the price is lower because of multiple issues/problems with the unit.
Specifically, when I arrived it was cold and the thermostat did not work. I texted the owner and she said there is no central heat in the living room and we had to either start a fire and/or use the portable heaters. Neither of these heats up the room very well or quickly so we were uncomfortable at times, particularly in the mornings. When I plugged in both portable heaters, the refrigerator shorted out. The owner insisted that the living room floors are heated, but they are not.
The views from deck are great and you can walk to a trail leading to chair 15 but once your skis are on, you have to hike up a hill to get there (which is not a true ski in/out IMO). Also, it snowed several days and the paved road to the trail was icy and slippery. My daughter fell twice and we saw others slip too as well as two cars spin out. The on-site manager said that it happens a lot.
The complex is older and the walls are thin. We could hear the upstairs occupants' footsteps and bed springs creak. Finally, the furniture looks and smells old and should be replaced along with the worn-out throw carpets and cracked living room tiles.
I was drawn to this unit because the owner's description says it was "remodeled to the studs two years ago." It did not seem that way to me at all and I will not be back.

Great location and easy to get on/off mountain.

The ski in ski out was amazing and to have covers parking was also great! Loved it!

Easy to get to, friendly host and easy to work with, good parking, great location on mountain. Would stay again.

We spent 5 days over Christmas. Owner was great with communication. Place very clean and nice. Beautiful views of the valley and just across the street is the club house with jacuzzi. To be able to ski in and out needs more snow than we had but small hike even with bad snow conditions you get there. Very well equipped kitchen. Some of the furniture is showing its age but nothing bad. Garage is small depending on what you are driving you have to leave the front out and door open (not just this unit they are all like that so you see other residents doing the same). Master bath is smaller than the guest one but the view from the bed makes up for it resting après skiing.
Must be great in the summer too. Close to village do drive but far enough that is very quiet and you do feel ypu are in the woods.

Took me a while to find where to leave this review, but we had a great stay and look forward to coming back next year if we get the chance.

We loved the condo and had everything we needed. Diane is awesome with keeping everything up to date and simple check in. The view from the condo and the deck are second to none. We were high up above 99% of the town and the location was perfect! The firewood was provided on the deck which we used constantly and saved tons of money there. There were some minor things that she promptly handled and we were most satisfied with the price of the rental. You just can’t beat the deal. We generally only rent homes as we like our privacy but took a chance on her condo and everything worked out fine!!! Definitely worth the money!!! Great trip and now we’re back in hot East Texas. Can’t wait to return to Mammoth👍

This condo was perfect. Great kitchen. Comfy beds. Beautiful view out front windows. Great access to pool and hot tub and sauna across the street. Single garage for parking in the unit. Very quiet. Wood burning stove was fun and effective. Great big screen TV. Great access to skiing. We had to drive to main lodge because by mid-may the lifts on out side of the mountain were closed but the drive was only 7-10 minutes. The owner/manager was extremely hospitable and welcoming - quickly answered all our questions. Skiing was good. fly fishing was good. town was super fun. was a great week

The epic Mammoth winter presented unique challenges for our family and the property owner. No less than 10 days before we arrived, the main road was opened, the condominium unit was cleared as structurally sound and chain-less access was established.
Throughout the entire "ordeal" of this epic winter, Diane communicated in a reassuring and reliable manner. From our first message until our last, the responsiveness and hospitality of our host was notable and appreciated.

We brought our young children and mother in law to care for them during the day and got to ski in record breaking snow at Mammoth. We took the run down to chair 8 and found our way home through the woods off of BlueJay/Chicadee (there’s a sign)… we have a nursing baby so logistically this was great for us! Location location location!

Beds were not made , host was rude , instructions were not clear, kitchen was not equipped, communication was not fluent, didn’t respond to any of our questions, bed restrooms and linens were dirty, garage was small and stuffed with junk, we regret our stay and wish we didn’t go there and lose our hard earned money for this awful property.

Overall this is a decent property. Others have mentioned it is difficult to access due to the steep road, which is true in heavy snow and ice conditions, such as what we experienced the week of Feb 26. The parking is in a garage, and a full-sized Ford Expedition fit. But it was very close/tight. The unit is above the garage. The unit could use some updating. If you do not know how to use a fireplace, you need to have some basic understanding as this is your main heating source. The unit is supplied with all the basic cooking items and has a microwave, toaster oven, coffee pot, etc. There is a queen size bed in the master, and it is fine; there is a pull-out couch and a twin bed in the second bedroom. Noise is an issue because you can hear everything that is going on above you in that unit. The constant walking above the master bedroom was an issue. The ski in and out is subjective. It is more like walk in and out in the deep snow this season. It's complicated, to say the least. You are very close to Eagle lodge and can get there, but it is work. Canyon Lodge is accessible - again in this year's snow, its work.

Nice property, good communication with property manager who was very detail oriented and quick to respond. Convenient location to ski in/ski out, and right across from the hot tub! Would stay again!

This unit was perfect for the ski trip we had planned and it truly was ski in/ski out. With all the snowfall recently, I was able to ski all the way down to the unit without any walking. Everything was exactly as described. The unit is also located directly across from the clubhouse, making the post ski day sauna and hot tub soak that much easier. When there is a lot of snow, you do need a vehicle that can handle it. We made it in a Subaru just fine. Definitely would recommend this place and plan on staying here again.

Overall was good but would have liked to
Know a little earlier that there were some really steep roads to get up
Bc there was so much snow so we had to buy chains just to be safe even though we have AWD on our car but really enjoyed the mountain and the location for ski in ski out-I would definitely return to that condo-owner was very responsive to our calls and answered all our questions in a timely manner
4.8
Great location but need 4WD if there is snow. The garage is small and wouldn’t fit a truck. Other parking is limited. Club facilities are worn down, but location is great and unit was clean.

Listing is as it is described. Condo is well stocked with all you need for cooking. Internet speed is good. It is 100 yards or less to where you start and end your skiing. Communication with property manager was excellent, very accommodating and helpful.
Please note that the hill to get to the condo can be challenging after heavy snowfall in a 2 Wheel Drive even if you have chains. Property manager is good about proactively communicating this and reminding you to have chains.

This cozy condo is everything the description says, but we discovered that, in very snowy conditions, the plows piled up the snow and blocked access to ski trails. Also, the steep, narrow, curvy road to the condo can be quite icy. If you can’t access ski trails, you can feel isolated because there isn’t a shuttle route at this location & Mammoth Taxi won’t service the condo when there’s snow(due to liability issues). Also, as noted in previous reviews the single car garage is very narrow—we had about 2 inches of clearance on each side of our SUV. (As a result, we were reticent to pull the car out once it was in the garage.) With all of this said, the owner is lovely and communicative..and the place is perfect for a family of four. We just thought it was important to note potential pitfalls for future guests.

Everything about this place is great, BUT 4x4 IS A MUST in the winter. The complex does a great job of snow plowing the property itself but the road leading to the property is steep and notorious for cars getting stuck. The host and onsite manager are quick to reply and super helpful, the condo is well appointed and very comfortable - the heated floors are absolutely lovely and the location is truly a ski-in/ski-out. We saw many large SUV's in the complex, but weren't sure our Tahoe would fit with the snow build up so we parked in overflow parking. Highly recommend if you have the right car!

Condo was as advertised. We found it neat, clean and well supplied. The location was excellent and the ski in out factor was legit. The unit is a short walk to the groomed pathway to Eagle lodge and at end of day you return to the same spot and walk back to unit. Nice and easy. Jacuzzi is just across the small street and was a good size indoor jacuzzi. Owner was accessible but no issues came up to make us contact her. Would definitely rent again and recommend the unit for families and small groups.

We had a great time and enjoyed the condo. The main bed was comfortable, the second bedroom bed was not comfortable for my adult daughter. The fireplace was also very very nice.

Wonderful time. Great place. Great host.
