We really enjoyed our stay in an historic kitchen house converted into a great place to stay. Amazing location with in walking district of all of the historic downtown sites.
Would definitely stay here again as Judy and Phillip were great hosts!

Judy and Phillip were awesome. The cottage was in a perfect location, clean and fun. Enjoyed evenings on the patio with wine and snacks. Also the Breakfast Treats were perfect left by the host. We would say with Judy and Phillip again.

Every day my spouse and I looked at each other and said "I'm glad we chose that VRBO". Fun history, even better location.

The location is awesome. I love history and the setting is right out of the 1700's with a few modern up grades, perfect for two people that like to walk around town and be in the center of old Charleston. The host were very accommodating. We will defiantly return for another visit.

Excellent. The only potential negative was that the spiral staircase could present difficulty for a physically challenged person.

Historic old property in lovely setting with perfect location for exploring area. The Middletons are gracious and kind hosts.

Wonderful little cottage in south of Broad historic district. Small kitchen and sitting room with fireplace downstairs and bed and bathroom upstairs. Off street parking. The cottage was originally the kitchen for the main house. Lovely private garden and courtyard to sit and relax. Hosts live in main house, so they are available if you need anything.

Sadly, this is my first negative review of a vacation rental. However, others should be aware of the following. Upon entering our rental, we were shocked by the musty odor. During our 5 night stay, we ran the dehumidifier the entire time, emptying the full container of water twice a day. The dehumidifier filter was filthy, so my husband cleaned it. As our stay progressed, the air quality improved. Since I am sensitive to musty odors, I stayed out of the rental as much as possible. There were numerous other reasons for not recommending this rental, including dirty, uncomfortable furniture, dangerous staircase, dirty utensil drawer, etc. I do not understand how this property received so many ratings of 4 and 5. On the positive, this was a wonderful location. In addition, the rental included an enjoyable courtyard, which is where we spent our time when we were not sightseeing.

The Middleton’s are wonderful hosts. We checked in early and Mrs Middleton had muffins, fruit and a bottle of wine waiting for us. Our accommodations were fantastic. A part of history. The king size bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed our wine in the courtyard. Also, we were right in the middle of everything but it was still quiet. And the off street parking was an added bonus. We loved our stay and our hosts!

We truly enjoyed our stay in this historic spot. The Middletons were delightful hosts and were happy to make sure we were well taken care of! Southern hospitality for sure! We were very interested in hearing the history of the property from Mr. Middleton. The location was perfect!!! Walking distance to everything. The free parking was also very convenient.

Had a nice stay. If weather was warmer would have spent more time on beautiful terrace. Bed was very comfortable. Also nice to have table and chairs to eat and work on. Hosts were very plesant and helpful. Lovely, quiet neighborhood, steps from free shuttle and broad street.

There is no better place to stay South of Broad if you're wanting to explore the city on foot, which I also highly recommend. This place is full of charm and history! It will make your stay so memorable, and Philip and Judy are extremely nice and accommodating. Will be returning!

Everything I could have wished for in visiting Charleston! Beautiful “kitchen house” in a quiet, sweet backyard with privacy but also direct access to our hosts. Gas fireplace, cute kitchen, oozing history and interest. Everything was walkable so we never had to used our car. Could not have found a better place to stay!

We had a wonderful time in Charleston. The historic kitchen house we stayed in was exactly what we expected! Mr and Mrs Middleton were very kind and helpful with any questions we had. Dinner recommendation was so good! The location couldn’t have been more perfect! We were able to walk all over and take in the town!

Great little cottage - private, cozy. We loved the private garden and fountain especially at night with the lights. Beautiful street to walk down and within walking distance to several restaurants. Felt lucky to find this place.

It was great to stay in a little part of the past. The kitchen house had all that a couple could ask for and was a short walk from everything. Thank you to the Middletons for sharing such an interesting and beautiful part of our Nation's history with the rest of us!

This was a perfect spot for our weekend Charleston getaway! The location is ideal for anyone wanting to explore downtown Charleston on foot, and the parking accomodations were a huge plus! We have always been captivated by the rich history of Charleston and this cozy cottage was a great way to experience it first hand. The owners have done a great job of preserving the history, while bringing you modern comforts with their personal touches. We were a little concerned that due to its historical nature the extreme heat might be a factor but we were pleasantly suprised at how cool the cottage stayed. The hospitality of Philip and Judy was charming and helped to make this an absolutely lovely trip for us!

You are in the middle of the historic district of Charleston. Close enough to walk to most everything, including Aquarium, restaurants, shopping, parks. Small but quaint setting from 1730's. Not all the creature comforts you may be used to and small, but still fine for a couple.

This property could not have been better if you are planning a visit to downtown. Perfect location. This property was great for 2 people. We enjoyed our 3 1/2 days very much. We did rent a car and drove around a lot taking in all the beautiful sights. I would highly recommend this house.

Great location to explore historic Charleston. Note - bedroom is on 2nd floor of historic dependency and could be challenging for some - but great opportunity to stay in former 1700 era kitchen with a perfect Charleston location - with parking! Hosts could not be nicer!

Historic renovated kitchen house with a lot of charm. Courtyard is wonderful with shade and fountain. Great place to read or have breakfast or a drink. Hosts were great, similar to a B n B with muffins, fruit in your room. Location is superb.

Like staying in a small English cottage in a perfect location in Charleston for walking to everything. Would have given it 5 stars but the narrow and steep circular staircase for inside access to the second floor is tricky but we knew this already from pics and other reviews. Bathroom shower could also use some upgrading but appreciated the size of the bathroom.

We had a lovely visit in beautiful Charleston. Phillip and Judy were gracious hosts.
We truly enjoyed the historic nature of the property and the location close to everything. If walls could talk!!
We will be back!

This was the perfect location for our time in Charleston. Loved the historic location and feel - away from the noise and crowds but close enough to walk to everywhere we wanted to go. The cottage was exactly as described and pictured. Judy and Phillip are such gracious hosts. We appreciated the breakfast goodies and bottle of wine. The courtyard was a beautiful, relaxing place to enjoy a glass of wine in the afternoon sun. We hope to be able to visit and stay here again soon!

Like visiting an old friend. I always wondered what was behind those gates on Church St. Now I know.

We had a wonderful stay. Location is perfect, right downtown in a quiet area. The kitchen house was great, plenty of space for just the two of us. Judy left extras for us, fruit-muffins-cereal. Very thoughtful. Would definitely stay here again!
