About this house rental
Gardencourt is a duplex tucked away on a private lane off Beech Hill Road in Historic Somesville. Our quiet rural setting offers the perfect spot to come home to between adventures. The entrance is located within our fenced-in courtyard at 5A, where the charming interior has a local feel. Beech Mountain Trailhead in ANP is just 0.75 miles from your front door. The three best swimming/kayaking/canoeing lakes are right around the corner by car or bicycle. Farm-to-table freshness is just 0.3 mile from the home at Beech Hill Farm, an organic farm stand. The home is on a very quiet gravel road in Somesville neighborhood of Mt. Desert Island. It is close to Beech Mtn Trail which is less known/ crowded and very beautiful. It is about a 20-25 minute drive to Jordan Pond, Ocean Trail, Cadillac Mtn. The house was well equipped and perfect for a family of 4. We saw turkeys, deer, chickens in the yard.

Great place to spend exploring Acadia National park. The location is secluded and private, very quite, feels like you are in the woods, but yet everything within short drive. We loved it!

Thank you Heather, Priscilla and John. We just spent 7 nights at the Garden Court it was very roomy cozy and clean with private little court yard that had a picnic table, grill and chairs. It was great we just brought our clothing, groceries and hiking gear. We enjoyed our days hiking and our evenings relaxing. Beech Mt. just down the Rd is the best place to watch sunset from with beautiful views from beech loop trail.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Gardencourt! It was bright and cheerful with a big kitchen table to gather around and a comfortable living area. The bedrooms were nicely decorated with comfortable beds. There was a private patio for lounging outdoors.
The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. There were plenty of soft towels.
We especially liked the location. The house was on a very private street near Somesville, so it was central to all points on the island. It was a short drive to Southwest Harbor to Beal’s Lobster Pound or a little farther to Thurston’s Lobster Pound in Bernard. The Loop Drive was a short drive in the other direction.
This property is the first floor of a house and the owners are sometimes living upstairs. They are delightful people, and we hardly knew they were there. They left a nice jar of jelly as a welcome gift.
This is a great place for home base for a visit to Acadia National park!

We really enjoyed our stay at Gardencourt on the quiet side of the island! We found that Google Maps doesn't recognize the address as Pondfield Lane, but does recognize Pond Field Lane to give you the correct directions. It is centrally located, and driving to Bar Harbor and the Loop were easy drives within 15 to 20 minutes. We had a wonderful time driving to all of the little harbor towns on the quiet side, as well as walking on the trails. Echo Lake is a short distance, and we saw and heard the loons in the evening! Definitely stop at the lakes/ponds as they are beautiful! There are lots of restaurants and shops, especially in Southwest Harbor and Northeast Harbor, which are not as crowded as Bar Harbor, and parking is free! The Maine Granite Museum is less than a mile away and is very interesting! Gardencourt was very clean and well-equipped with everything we needed. We were welcomed with a jar of blueberry jam and a map of Acadia Park. Lots of other helpful info was supplied on the desk. We were very comfortable and saw deer and turkey just outside the kitchen window about every morning. If you like peace and quiet, we highly recommend staying here! Thanks Vanessa!

My family and our dogs stayed here for the second time. We love the property, the amenities, and location! It’s central enough that we can easily get to all the fun stuff, but also tucked away so we have some privacy. Fantastic farm stand and hiking trails right down the road. We have an elderly pup and toddler, so no stairs was a big plus! Communication with the owners was fantastic and quick. Overall it was a fantastic stay and we’ll be back again!

A cute, cozy, and spacious house in a quiet neighborhood centrally located to all the spots we were looking to visit. There is a very helpful binder with lots of information and suggestions. There is another unit with some room(s) above this one so you can hear people walking sometimes but it was only occasionally and nothing a pair of ear plugs won’t fix. Would definitely stay again!

This place was exactly what my husband and I needed for our 4 day adventure on MDI and Acadia National Park. As other's have mentioned, it serves a great home base. You have all the amenities and space you need, you are away from the noise and hustle of Bar Harbor but only a 20 minute drive away from many of the parks attraction and Bar Harbor. At night, you can stargaze as the there is very limited light pollution. Looking forward to coming back!

We thoroughly enjoyed this rental. Perfect location with easy access to Acadia, Bar Harbor, and surrounding areas. The house is well-stocked with soaps/detergents, trash bags, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, and paper goods. Everything was clean, and we slept well. Very peaceful location. We briefly met the homeowners, and they were lovely people. A homemade jam awaited our arrival. Simple touches such as maps, brochures, and hiking recommendations made our visit even more enjoyable. We took several of the owners’ suggestions, and we were not disappointed. We appreciated how accommodating the house was for our dog too. There were linens available specifically for our pup and even dog dishes. Great experience! Have recommended to several friends already. 😊

Gardencourt was a comfortable and quiet spot for our family to enjoy Acadia and Bar harbor. The condo was very clean and comfortable and in great proximity to Acadia and Bar Harbor.
The kitchen was well outfitted with all necessary cutlery/pots etc and there is a BBQ for use too. Fans are also provided and there is a small window AC unit in the kitchen. Also there is a washer and dryer which was helpful after a wet day hiking! There are plenty of towels, sheets, bedding and blankets too.
The owners live upstairs and are available if needed. They provided communication prior to arrival with contact information if needed during our stay. They left a lovely welcome note with a jar of homemade jam. Would definitely stay again.

Sweet, cozy space on a beautiful property in a great location. The unit was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a weeklong stay. Communication was great, and the owners clearly put a lot of care into the space, and hosting (we really appreciated the personal touches and recommendations for favorite local hikes, eats, and shopping including tips on dog-friendly locations).
The location is absolutely perfect - on a beautiful road, secluded and quiet but convenient to the park, Bar Harbor, and other local activities.
Highly recommend!

Property was clean and a great location. Owners were responsive when we needed to get in touch (we were delayed by car trouble on way up to Maine). Recommend this property!

Another great stay
We love staying here. This is our (2 adults, 3 kids under 10) third time and we plan to be back next year. The place is lovely, has everything you need. Small touches like nightlights make a huge difference. We prefer staying on the quiet side, and this location is perfect. There’s a trail down the street (and a great local farm), very close to Echo Lake, and not too far from our favorite restaurant- Thurston’s Lobster Pound.

Ruined Vacation -Pet friendly?!-Horrible customer skills
This is advertised as a dog friendly property.
If you have dogs, I would advise you to find a different property. Mount Desert Island is a fantastic place to visit with your family and pets-I highly recommend that you come here. This rental unit has an A and B side-1 unit above and 1 unit below. We were in the bottom unit with another unit above us.
The Vrbo owner stated that there were long term renters in the other unit above us. There was an outside camera that films you.-kinda strange. There was constant noise from the above unit-walking and running, loud television, etc. There were construction trucks constantly pulling in and out of the driveway of the other unit. They would cut wood, etc and make noise throughout the day as they came and went. We brought our 2 dogs with us. We planned on our dogs being with us except for 2 kayak trips and a no pet boat trip, where we would have left our dogs at the rental unit in an XL crate for 3-4 hours for these 3 times. We left to go kayaking on Wednesday afternoon. 90 minutes later I received a text from the property owner that we were in violation of our contract by leaving our dogs alone in the rental unit and that they were barking. I immediately called back and explained to the owner our plans and assured them that the dogs were crated. The owner said that they would look into it and call me back. 5 minutes later I received a text that I was in violation of the rental agreement that I signed to stay at this unit.
Since we could not leave our dogs crated for a 4 hour period, We canceled our other plans for the other kayak trip and boat tour, both of which were supposed to be Thursday and Friday highlights of our trip. When we vacated the unit Saturday, I called the owner asking for a partial refund. The best part? The so called long term renters above us were the owners !!! They never once took the time to introduce themselves or say hello!!!! While the rental unit itself would deserve a 4 star rating, I rate this overall experience as a zero rating. Our vacation was ruined directly by the owners. I recommend that you do not do business with these folks because of our experience. As a side note-All of our neighbors at home love both us and our dogs. We are always lending a helping hand to our neighbors. I truly do not understand how someone could act the way these Vrbo owners did to us.

We brought our dog and it was perfect for that. It would be great for a family. We liked the location and it was very quiet. Property owners were super nice. Clean and comfy. Good value.

A quiet spot on the quiet side of the island
My adult daughter and I stayed in this cozy, tucked-away little downstairs of a two-story bungalow-like setting. Nothing fancy. Accessible to everything, but very close to a great little hike up Beech Mountain. The owners were lovely.

Great place, great location....highly recommended!
This place was real find! It was out the way, in a very quiet spot, yet only 10 minutes from Southwest Harbor and close to lots of hiking. It was super clean, well furnished, with a fully stocked kitchen and a comfortable bed. We would definitely stay here again!

This property was perfect for our group as we wanted to be close to Bar Harbor and Acadia without being overwhelmed with people. It was a very private and quiet setting that was an easy drive to nearby towns. Priscilla and Vanessa were very accommodating hosts that made themselves readily available had we needed anything. Cozy house to come home to after a day of hiking and sightseeing!
