We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The home was beautiful and in the perfect location for our trip. Check in was super easy and they even had a perfectly put together book giving us insight on businesses in the area to visit. We had an issue with the hot water on the first day we were there and the home owners responded quickly and fixed the issue that day. All in all it was wonderful! We home to be back in the future!

Such a beautiful and cozy home. The home is located away from the busy city but close enough to eminities. Staying here felt like being home.

From the moment you see this cute home - you’ll know you are on vacation. Such a warm welcome after a long drive. The beds were comfortable and the house was spacious for 6 people. We had everything we needed to relax, prep meals and have fun. It was just as the pictures showed - nicely decorated and plenty of room. The location was ideal - only about 10 minutes from shopping and essentials and about 40 minutes from major attractions - which is why we choose this house. No hustle & bustle, but close enough at the same time.

This home accommodated our entire family. The beds was very comfortable and the home was up to date on everything. I look forward to staying here the next in town.

I love this home. It checks all the boxes for me. Location, luxury touches, livable and comfortable spaces. It is obvious that Shannon has put great thought and care into every detail of the home. This will definitely be on my list of staycation places when I need a not so far away- getaway.
4.0 / 10.0
While this property was lovely to look at, and the home is decorated beautifully, this property owner who is also the property manager (by personal experience, big mistake!) is rather less than. We arrived near midnight after a cross country trip from CO (28+hrs) on our first night with my husband, my mother, and our two under two children. Too tired after situating ourselves and getting overtired kids to bed, we waited till morning to get put together. The water pressure was trickling, and water was cloudy, but after being in a vehicle for 3 days we said maybe we are high maintenance. Come Wednesday morning, the water spitting out is golden yellow, and water filter is unrecognizable due to being clogged beyond capacity.
Contact property owner, husband comes out Wednesday evening, but water still running golden now brown. Am told it’s safe regardless of color and particles in water.
After circling back, am told that the husband needs to come out Thursday (Thanksgiving) morning to replace water softener, so we were without water from 7:30AM-9:30AM. Am told to allow water to run until it’s clear. Great! Hour goes by, finally (but ice cold) clear water runs. Too bad we had to go to our Thanksgiving plans unshowered for two days. We then return to the property approximately 6.5 hours later with tired children to find out, still no hot water! At this time my husband and I make the decision for our children that we need to vacate these unlivable circumstances being that we are paying a pretty penny for common amenities in 2022. Contact owner who is originally willing to work with us, although she accused our toddler of touching the hot water heater and must be why it wasn’t working. (Wow!)
We pack up the house and leave by 9PM with yet again, overtired children.
I follow up with property owner next day, and miraculously, when her husband goes to the property, there’s hot water! Evidently we were supposed to wait 24+hrs for hot water?? She is no longer willing to work with us even though we were only requesting that PART of our stay (4 days that we didn’t stay) be refunded due to these ridiculous circumstances. Mind you, they own 18+ other rentals in the area, and didn’t even offer for us to just relocate to a different property! Call VRBO to state our miserable, and disheartening case, to be told that the owner isn’t willing to work with us.
BEWARE!
Good thing I can’t attach pictures, and too bad when paying so much you can’t get clean water.

Five PLUS Star Rating!
I wish I could give Shannon more than 5 stars! From the beginning, she was quick to respond and provide direction on the rental process. Her welcome text was phenomenal with excellent recommendations on restaurants and grocery shopping as well as things to do.
Checking in was a breeze - she even reached out to see if we were checking in after dark as she would make sure lights were on to make the process easier for us.
The property was exactly like the pictures posted on the site. It was immaculate when we checked in and smelled freshly cleaned. The kitchen was stocked with all we needed for our stay - and lovely bath products to use as well. We took full advantage of the front porch each morning to enjoy our coffee and each evening to wind down. Yes, the home was away from town, but that is what we wanted. If anyone is looking to be close to the action, this isn't for you. BUT, if you are looking to be away from the hustle and bustle...to relax...to be surrounded by country, then it's perfect as it was for us!
We experienced a power outage during out stay, which was out of Shannon's control, but she kept us updated on restoral and checked on us when it was fixed.
I would definitely recommend this property and the hosts. It was one of the best rental experiences I have had with Vrbo!

Definitely returning again!
My family and I have absolutely no complaints about the property or Ms French. Mr French hospitality is a 10 out of 10. Phone service is horrible inside the property. When the house wifi went out Ms French was there the same day with new equipment. My mother and I have bad knees and backs and we have no complaints about the beds throughout the house. Cleanliness throughout the house and property including linen. Everything you need in the kitchen to cook is provided (including some season and filters for coffee pot). Welcome snacks, water and sign was present for us. Beautiful art and quotes through the house. The only con is that the property is a little drive from everything. Thank you Ms French for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.

Beautiful property, great house
Wished we had planned fewer activities so we could have spent more time relaxing on the porch rockers, house and property...

Beautiful property - wonderful stay
First thing to say is that the property is exactly like shown in the pictures, spotlessly clean with lovely decor done up to a very high standard. Beds are comfy, it has two large bathrooms with deep bath/shower combos. We were so impressed with the property, it was a delight to arrive there after a fairly long drive.
The grass around the house is expansive, much larger than the pictures show. Perfect for kids to play on, we brought a mat with us for the mornings as the grass was a bit wet to begin with (early autumn). Brought a frisbee too which got a lot of use! The barbecue area at the back is a comfortable place to sit out, and relaxing on the front porch for breakfast was absolutely lovely.
As a location, you are 30mins from Yorktown, there's a very nice wetland walk called Beverdam park about 15mins away and a cute local shop 5mins from the house which sells basic supplies but also does deli sandwiches and hot foods too.
I would thoroughly recommend staying here, we visited as two adults with two young children (1 and 3), found the house very comfortable - decorated sensibly for small hands (not much breakable within reach). The kitchen is very well appointed too. I'd recommend bringing games/kids toys with you as we couldn't find any in the house (brought plenty ourselves anyway), obviously the property has stairs so gates if you need (maybe email Shannon about this - we found her very responsive and helpful, I'm sure she would give advice), baby monitor etc. Mosquito spray/lamps for sitting out in the evening - wasn't really a problem for us but imagine could be worth having in summer. Oh also the front door keypad lock is a bit odd when it comes to working out how to lock up from the inside, could probably do with a bolt latch or something installed on the front door? In any case it felt like a safe and secluded area so we never had any concerns about safety. Just remember the key code when you close the door!
Thank you Shannon for a great vacation!

Lovely Long Weekend Getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the French’s home. The accommodations were beautiful and very clean. The binder created by the homeowners was helpful in exploring the Gloucester area, but we mainly were there to enjoy peace and quiet and there was plenty. Shannon was accessible and accommodating during our stay. We sincerely hope to return in the future.

Clean comfortable home in convenient location
A great house for a quiet getaway, space to grill and eat out back or read a book on the covered front porch and doze off. Clean, comfortable, well stocked with kitchen utensils & extra towels and sheets.
In the country so it’s quiet but only a 10 min drive into town where you can find all your big box stores and restaurants.
Shannon, the property owner, was very nice and communicative and we had no issues.

Nice home
The home was decorated and maintained very well! Everyone enjoyed our stay however the location given by the Vrbo consultant over the phone was in accurate. We were told it was only 20 minutes from Williamsburg/Busch Gardens when in actuality it was more like an hour. A bit remote for us but a very nice home.

Thanksgiving stay
Our stay was fine - house is nice, clean and in a peaceful setting we were a party of 10 staying in the house as overflow space from our son’s home in the area. The space is fine for about 8 but ten was an overload . Kitchen equipment met all our needs, owner was very helpful and even left a Thanksgiving cheesecake to add to our feast at our son’s home.. would recommend the fish smell in the upstairs bedroom closet be addressed.

Quite and Comfortable
We enjoyed this lovely country home! As advertised, only a few minutes from a pleasant village with good dining and friendly people! Also, Yorktown, only 20 minutes away, was very interesting with great American history ( and even more good dining). The property owner was very good to provide information and follow-up to check on any needs we might have.
A wonderful few days in the Bay area!

Wonderful homey farmhouse
Only stayed two nights, so I wasn't able to take advantage of all the comforts this charming little farmhouse has to offer. Everything is up-to-date: kitchen, bathrooms, full cable TV. Great place. Somewhat isolated, but oh so nice and quiet.

Country get away
Shannon,
Our family really enjoyed staying in the farmhouse. It was a beautiful home and very well stocked with just about everything you would find in your own home. We stayed busy during the day with our trips to different attraction and at the end of the day was glad to have such a relaxing, comfortable place to come back to. Most of the attractions we visited were 30 minutes to an hour away.
Thank you for sharing the beautiful home. Once again we really enjoyed the home and peaceful countryside.
Sincerely
Shelia Aylesworth
