About this house rental
We look forward to welcoming you to the Coach House on Dutch Neck, with warm, natural colors and woodwork that evoke feelings of a cabin in the woods. In fact, the Coach House is located right next to the Peter's Pond Preserve, part of the Midcoast Conservancy, with direct access to the hiking trails and a beautiful 12 acre pond. Dutch Neck Road has its own public boat launch as well as the Osborn Finch Wildlife Sanctuary. Whether you are seeking to unwind on vacation, or looking for an alternative remote work location, the Coach House is ready for your visit.
When you arrive, you will walk up the stairs into the spacious kitchen/living room. The open floor plan with windows all around and ceiling fans everywhere will ensure your comfort in the summer, while a gas stove will easily complement the baseboard heating in other seasons. Caribbean Heart Pine floors warm the kitchen, living room, bathroom and hallway, while cozy wall to wall carpeting will cushion your feet in the bedrooms. Each space has its own thermostat so everyone will be comfortable. For your peace of mind in the event of bad weather, we've installed an automatic generator so you will have water and power.
Down the hall you will find the two bedrooms, each with queen beds, ceiling fans, big windows and plenty of drawer/storage space. The bathroom has a beautifully stone tiled and glass enclosed shower, a large vanity, Kohler fixtures, and a full size LG washer and dryer. Towels and linens are provided.
When you don't feel like eating out, you will enjoy cooking in the large kitchen with plenty of granite counter space, full size range/oven, and microwave. The table has plenty of room to seat six people. The kitchen is equipped with all the dishes, utensils, glasses and mugs you will need, along with basic cooking necessities, and a Keurig coffee maker will make your mornings easier.
Just outside your door you will find a lovely patio with a Weber gas grill, table and chairs for 4 for your outdoor dining pleasure, and a cozy gliding love seat so you can fully enjoy the peace and quiet on Dutch Neck.
Waldoboro features some local favorites such as the Odd Alewives Brewery, Borealis Bakery, and Moody's Diner. Within 20-40 minutes you can find wonderful lobster wharfs, and the quintessential small Maine coastal towns, Damariscotta, Rockland, Rockport, Boothbay Harbor and Camden.
We also have put together a binder of information for you on the local area - all the inside info on things to do and places to eat. And of course we are available to answer any questions that will help to make your Midcoast Maine vacation the most fun and memorable!

We enjoyed our stay at the coach house so much it was difficult to leave! We are tall people and the high ceilings were very much to our liking as well as the overall cozy, homey ambiance! We appreciated the luxury touches like, soft close cabinets, large walk in shower and the convenience of in unit laundry! The large yard was enjoyed by both dog and humans!

Perfect location to visit our niece and family on Dutchneck.

Stay was perfect. Property is kept immaculate and host communication is thorough and helpful. We enjoyed our stay immensely and this lodging was very clean and comfortable. We chose this location because it is central to the mid-coast and you can get to many touristy things in 45 mins in all directions. It was a nice getaway.

A wonderfully private and peaceful location in the town of Waldoboro Maine. The Coach house is comfortable, clean and has an excellent kitchen. We will definitely be going back!

This is a great place to stay for midcoast adventures. The coach house is super comfortable and clean. We had everything we needed and little touches made it great - Bose speaker in the kitchen, extra fans and blankets, etc. Be sure to hike the trails behind the house! Our dog and kid loved that walk and we went back out almost every day we were there. Really enjoyed our stay here.

This is such a great property. We have stayed here multiple times and will plan another trip for next summer.

I chose this property for several reasons. 1. It was dog friendly and we needed to separate our two dogs (brothers) to see how they would function without the other. 2. It was so close to home, only an hour away and in a beautiful area of Coastal Maine. and 3. I needed a place to process personal issues. This was it. Five stars. Even the pollen invasion didn't deter my stay. I was comfortable the entire time. Had everything I needed, well equipped, dog friendly, and welcoming. I will seriously consider staying again in the future. Karen and Keith were wonderful hosts. They addressed every issue and question I had quickly with speed and grace. I highly recommend "The Coachhouse at Dutch Neck".

We took our pups and we all really enjoyed the hiking trails behind the property. The property was even nicer than the pics. We explored the surrounding towns and LaVerna Preserve trail - must see! Thank you to our gracious hosts.

Ideal place to stay for exploring mid-coast Maine. Super, super clean, spacious and comfortable. Great space for cozying up in front of the gas fireplace while relaxing on the couch with a good book. Thanks Karen and Kevin for your hospitality.

You won't regret staying at the Coach House in Waldoboro, NH. Keith and Karen are excellent hosts and attend to every detail. The Coach House offers everything you need and is well equipped. Very comfortable---just like a home away from home should be.
We'll be back for sure!

This place was a gem and exactly what we were looking for. On a quiet road, away from more bustling areas, it was the perfect place for us to truly relax and just get away. The fact that the property backs up to a large park meant that we could take a 2 hour hike without driving anywhere.
Keith and Karen have thought of everything and outfitted the apartment to keep you comfortable regardless of the weather. They're great resources about activities, attractions, and resources in the area. When we go back to Maine, we're checking to see if the coach house is available first.

Second floor, well decorated, comfortable and quiet. Easy driving distance to popular areas of interest. Best beach is Crockett's beach in Owl's Head. Beautiful coastline. Great seafood everywhere. Loved The Slipway Restaurant.

We were delighted with our stay in the Coach House the first week of August 2023. Karen and Keith are friendly and gracious hosts who made sure we had everything we needed, and more: the first night we had a glitch in the kitchen sink, and Karen came over to fix it. Keith and I had a fun, long conversation about their vintage automobiles. They gave us two passes for the Owls Head Transportation Museum car and plane show, a typical gesture of their kindness.
The Coach House is on the second floor of their barn. It has two bedrooms with comfortable beds, and each room has an overhead fan. The kitchen has the necessities: plates, silverware, refrigerator, stove, microwave, Keurig coffee maker (with several complimentary pods), a toaster, pots and pans — we even found a tub of bread crumbs, mayo, ketchup, and mustard; the only item we didn’t find was olive oil (can’t fault that). The living room has two comfortable arm chairs and a couch, a Roku television, a DVD player, and a nice collection of films (including Forrest Gump, which we enjoyed watching). Waldoboro is near Rockland, home of the Farnsworth Museum (with many works of Andrew Wyeth, among others). New Harbor is half an hour away; we ate lobsters at Shaw’s, and took a boat ride to a nearby rock island where puffins nest.
Our stay in the Coach House was wonderful; it is a great home base, and a very comfortable home. Our hosts were magnificent. We would absolutely stay there again, and highly recommend it.

The Coach House was a perfect spot for our Maine vacation. Easy access to all the quaint Mid-Coast Towns, hiking trails, and the water (ocean, rivers, and ponds!). It was wonderful to come back to such a serene and lovely spot at the end of each day. Our dog loved it too -- so many good smells and places to romp and swim! Karen and Keith were excellent hosts - available and responsive and also extremely respectful. The house had just about everything you could want but wasn't over crowded or cluttered. It was surprisingly spacious and very comfortable to hang out in. We give this rental two thumbs and one paw up!

Despite not having the best weather, we enjoyed our visit to. We have stayed here multiple times, property is very welcoming and comfortable.

This apartment is lovely. Very cosy. The bed was very comfortable. It is located near Damariscotta, which is a great year round town. It is also near delanos, a fish market with decent prices and very fresh fish.
Proably the best thing about this property is the owners. They are very nice and were so helpful.
I can highly recommend this property.

We stayed here for a month while getting our home ready and everything about the coach house was lovely. Keith and Karen did a beautiful job creating a warm space and it was a delight to stay there. They were a joy to interact with and very responsive. We loved our time at the Coach House. My mom also stayed with us at the beginning and I feel like every conversation we have she gushes about how special of a place it was

This is the second trip to the Coach House.
Waldoboro is our favorite spot in Maine and luck has it we have fallen in love with the Coach House.
This is by far the best place to stay. . It is relaxing and comfortable. Everything you need. ( including dog biscuits).
Just like home.
Its a well organized beautiful hidden treasure .
Including friendly and thoughtful hosts.

First of all, Keith & Karen were gracious & generous hosts. In regard to the Coach House, it was all it was said to be--& was pictured as being--on VRBO. It was a great place for my wife & me to unwind & renew our spirits. And what a perk it is that the trail to the Peters Pond Preserve leaves from the back of the property. While the Coach is semi-remote, it is within driving range of sites to the north, such as the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport, & sites to the south, such as the Portland Head Lighthouse. It truly was a magic place.

The house and property are just as pictured. Karen and Keith were communicative and very friendly. The house was very clean and had the essentials. When I asked Karen about an additional pot for cooking she dropped a brand new one off the following day! My family and I enjoyed the walk down to Peter's Pond and a private path starts right outside the back door. We brought our dog and he gave the house and property 5 wags of his tail. He especially enjoyed the dog treats that were left for him.

Beautiful mid-coast stay
The Coach House is a comfortable and lovely home that can serve as a homebase for a variety of mid-coast Maine experiences. It's location on the edge of the preserve lands and close proximity to the river/bay make it an ideal vacation spot. Peter's Pond in the preserve is the crown jewel of the preserve lands and was an idyllic and peaceful place to swim, birdbwatch and relax. Karen and Keith are attentive and available without being at all intrusive and do all they can to help their guests enjoy staying at the Coach House. We would return in a heartbeat!

A quiet, cozy retreat
My husband and I spent six weeks at The Coach House in June-July 2022 while we waited for the completion of renovations to our house. The Coach House is a perfect location to wind down from everyday routines and enjoy the natural beauty of Maine’s coast at your own pace. My spouse and I found it ideal for the two of us, but it could have accommodated two couples for a shorter visit. The house is comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated. The location is a perfect launching pad for visits to traditional Maine coast fishing villages like Friendship, Damariscotta, New Harbor, Round Pond, Pemaquid, and Booth Bay. You will be a short drive from the location where Rachel Carson wrote « Silent Spring. ». Staying at the property gives you access across your hosts’ property through beautiful fields leading down to the shores of the serene Medomak River. Your hosts, Karen and Keith, could not be more welcoming, helpful and responsive to any concerns you might have (we had none, but Karen and Keith were eager to ensure that was true). The house was well supplied with household basics when we arrived. And, if you decide to bring your canine companion, you will find the location to be a perfect place for dog walking and games of fetch. Our little fur baby just could not get enough of racing around the property chasing every one of her vast collection of balls! We wish all future guests at the Coach House as restful and pleasant a time as we had.

Coastal Maine bliss
We were able to stay in the Coach House for about 2 months early this year. My wife & I both work remotely and the Coach House was perfect for this - it has several different rooms, a well-equipped kitchen, strong Wifi, and a generator that kicks on automatically in case of a power outage.
We loved staying just across the street from the Medomak River with coastal breezes making it very comfortable, even on the hotter days. Peter's Pond preserve is a beautful hike right out of the backyard of the Coach House - we even saw a bald eagle soaring over the pond!
Most of all, we would highly recommend Keith & Karen as hosts - they were very easy to work with, great communicators, and incredibly helpful with anything we needed throughout our stay. We've recently moved to the area and they made us feel very much at home in Waldoiboro!

Perfect Place - big person certified!
I share the sediment of others that I almost didn’t review the place because I want to keep it a secret it’s that nice! I couldn’t say nicer things about the house - so comfortable and well thought out. My fiancé requested I include that this property is big people friendly, as someone whose 6’5 he doesn’t always find rentals he’s comfortable in (let alone that he fits in the shower) but he felt like home here! It has everything you need. I’m unsure who loved the property more us or our dogs. The owners were equally as perfect; checked in and were always very responsive and respectful of privacy! If you stay moodys is a must - just up the road with other good restaurants.

Quiet Christmas escape
We enjoyed our stay in Waldoboro, a quiet spot perfectly located to explore coastal Maine. Property is super dog friendly but certainly not to the point where a non-dog person wouldn't be comfortable. Hosts are right a across the street and always quick to respond if needed.
We can only agree with all the previous reviews.

Third Time Back!
Love the location and the region. If you are in Midcoast with a dog or two, this is the only place I recommend staying. We've been here three times over the years. We've been coming to Maine for vacation for the past eight years, and this is the best place I've found.

Five delightful days!
The Carriage House is in a lovely, quiet location. It is beautifully designed and decorated for comfort and convenience. Hiking trails accessible from the driveway, other trails nearby, lovely walk to the river, plenty of outdoorsy stuff for us old folks and our border collie. But the comfy furniture and well-equipped tv for streaming made our stay a delight even on rainy days. Five stars.

More comfortable than our own home!
We LOVED our stay at the coachhouse! It was a remote school and work trip so high speed internet was a must--it worked perfectly and my husband and two sons were able to easily attend school and work calls. Karen and Keith were also very accommodating in shifting our dates back slightly in light of Hurricane Henri making landfall right when we were supposed to be arriving. The apartment was so comfortable--wonderful kitchen and bathroom, huge TV, and incredibly comfortable furniture! In addition, the location of the coachhouse was excellent. The tidal Medomak River and gorgeous Peter's Pond are steps away, not to mention all of the cute midcoast towns like Damariscotta, Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset and Rockland. We couldn't have been happier with our stay and hope to be back someday!!! Thanks so much, Karen and Keith!

Classy and comfortable!
We had a great stay at the Coach House on Dutch Neck. The hosts are wonderful and go to great lengths to make their guests comfortable and manage the property in a professional manner. You can expect top notch communication, an ultra clean and well-appointed space with quality furnishings and everything you’ll need for a relaxing Mid-Coast getaway. Direct access to the Peters Pond Preserve Trail is a big bonus. Highly recommend!

peaceful relaxing area
The coach house is located in a quiet neighborhood . There are SO many hikes and areas to spend out doors.
Karen and Keith are just wonderful people. They are there to help if needed, offer suggestions and are very welcoming to travelers. This stay really needs a 10 Star rating!

Great, Relaxing Mid-Coast Coach House
Highly recommend! This is an excellent mid-coast option. Quiet surroundings but only a few miles from Route1. The house is relatively new and has all expected amenities (no A/C, but it’s not really needed). A real bonus is that the property is adjacent to the Peter’s Pond Wildlife Preserve, and there is a short trail from the driveway that leads to a loop trail (less than 2 miles) through the woods. In front of the house, it’s possible to walk through a field to a tidal portion of the Medomak River. Wifi is strong and reliable at the house. Surprisingly, mobile coverage (AT&T) is very good at the house and generally good in surrounding rural areas. There is a good size supermarket and several restaurants within 5-10 minutes. Many more restaurants and lobster pounds are within 25-30 minutes. We hope to come back and stay longer next time!

Mid-coast Maine vacation
Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Coach House. Karen and Keith have thought of everything a vacationer might need! The house was immaculate, the hosts were responsive and easily accessible if needed, and we had all the space we needed, in and outdoors. It was just a short hike to a beautiful pond with great swimming for our entire family (two kids, ages 9 and 11). The beauty of Maine surrounds the Coach House!

Just what we needed!
We had such a lovely stay at the Coach House. Karen and Keith were wonderful with answering questions and making recommendations for lobster rolls and ice cream! The place was cozy and was on a great piece of Maine country property. We enjoyed starting our days with listening to the birds (and seeing an occasional turkey) and ending our days either sitting out back with a book or walking to the pond (10-15 minute walk) and jumping in for a swim. If we return to Waldoboro or the midcoast area, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again! After a year and a half of not traveling, this was exactly what we needed. Karen and Keith’s attention to detail was perfect!

Comfortable serene coach house
We enjoyed the clean, comfortable home which had games, movies and magazines/books of the area—after a long day of touring coastal areas of central Maine we relaxes and cooked at this sweet, quiet spot in waldoboro.

Excellent stay at the Coach House
