This property has a number of pluses, and a few opportunities to improve.
The place is as the pictures show. We rented for a month and knew the area very well going in. We enjoyed the neighborhood - easily accessible, very close to Portsmouth and restaurants, friendly neighbors. There is a pleasant walk along the river one block away.
The property was very clean inside, bright and cheerful.
Overall, it was well equipped although I did suggest better lighting when we left. We hit two weeks of rainy weather so were indoors more than we anticipated. We actually bought a reading lamp while there.
Allison was great - immediately responsive when we had a question, and living next door was available for any hiccups, which we didn’t have. She wants you to enjoy your vacation.
It was a great backyard for our cavalier and the back deck was very comfortable. Parking was right outside but a word of caution to those who don’t do steps.
The key opportunity for this property is the furnishings. We couldn’t find a comfortable seat in the house. The furnishings are presentable yard sale finds but nothing is comfortable seating. The bed is fine, as is the dining table, but the sofa and chairs…..not so much. I was tempted to bring the outdoor furniture inside for seating.

We loved our stay in Eliot! A great option for a relaxing dog-friendly getaway in Southern Maine

This property and the host, Alison, are just wonderful. House is clean and tidy and the grounds are beautiful. This is my second stay here and I’ll be coming back again!

we had a wonderful time at this house. it was SO clean, seriously, the photos don't do it justice. it was probably the cleanest older home we've stayed in. (old as in character, we prefer staying in older homes whenever possible).
we appreciated the owner being on the property, and communication was easy and she was always available. alison is a top rate host, was always helpful in a non-intrusive way.
there is a great view across to the water, we could bird easily from the living room!
there is AC in the living room (which we didn't use) and in the bedroom (which we did). the home was very comfortable, with a great kitchen and amazing fridge. there is a washer/dryer in the (SO CLEAN) basement to use as well, which was a big plus for us.
it was an easy drive to anything we needed, and the neighborhood is peaceful and quiet. we both worked parts of our stay and had absolutely no problems with the wifi at all. the breezeway entrance was great to stage outside-type stuff. there is a back deck that is covered and great to hang out on. we had a lot of rain when we were there, and while we didn't get to the beach much, it was nice to be in the house and be comforted by the sounds.
we would book this place again if we decide to stay in maine, and highly recommend the rental.

My stay at this property was heavenly. The Host, Alison, was fabulous in every respect. The home itself is extremely clean and quite comfortable. However, the best part of this property was the quiet and scenic environment. Spending my afternoons on the back deck on the beautifully manicured grounds were always the best part of my day. I highly recommend this property.

My husband and I went for our anniversary weekend. The house was perfect for us. Close to things we wanted to do but still had space and privacy. My husband and I would definitely recommend and would stay again!

Alison’s place is close to everything in Maine and NH, easy access to the highway and route 1. The property is large and was easy to have the dog roam and sniff (leashed). The kitchen is equipped with all you need, and the linens are fresh and cozy. There is heat and AC, and with the windows open there is a great breeze. Alison is right next door and available if you need her - we did not because we had all we needed.

The house is even more lovely than the photos! The location is very convenient to Portsmouth, NH, Kittery, ME, and hiking and sight-seeing throughout the larger area (two examples: gorgeous meadows at Wagon Hill and amazing water views at Fort Foster)! As others have written the back deck is perfect for morning coffee! The sun porch / mud room is such a welcome amenity—especially when traveling with a dog! Alison was super responsive!

I loved Alison's property. It was very chic, comfortable, clean and located in a nice, quiet neighborhood. Her backyard and back porch are amazing - she has taken great strides to make it a beautiful place to relax complete with nice landscaping and comfy patio furniture. She was communicative, helpful and warm. I would stay here again!

Lovely place
Alison was a great hostess. The place was just as described, and very clean. We loved the back porch and the roof that protected us from the rain. We had a very relaxing vacation, and so did our nervous rescue pup, Sofia.
Everything was perfect! We will return!

Super cute and clean
Allison’s place is really comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated! She is very considerate of her guests. The back deck was a really nice place to sit and the view of the creek is a special bonus. It is a short walk to the river and a very quick drive to Portsmouth. Great place for a couple looking for a place to relax and explore southern Maine.

Perfect spot for a quiet weekend getaway
This was my first VRBO experience and I am very pleased. All that Allison said about her place was accurate. She even went out of her way to pick up my favorite coffee creamer. Would absolutely come back.

We spent 3 nights here. The place was perfect for my husband and I. Very clean, well organized with everything that we needed. We made dinner there one night and the kitchen is well appointed. We would definitely book here again if in the area.

😞
The property was average. Older well lived in home. Property owner is sort of a micro manager. Disputing the owner saying our dog scratched her floor. Stating she needs it stripped and waxed???? Maybe a buff and wax, but I’m sure she’s just looking for someone to pay for it besides herself. Glad I bought property insurance from VRBO.

Lovely setting near s. Maine and Portsmouth, NH
Very comfortable, nicely furnished. Good suggestion from owner for things to do, places to eat including a lovely neighborhood walk along the Piscataqua River. Owner very helpful. A couple of minor things could be addressed: refrigerator light, circuit supporting both TV and A/C.

Perfect Vacation Rental for 2 Adults and a 1 Dog
Alison was so nice and accommodating. I truly felt like I lived in Maine on our Vacation. Very clean, organized, spacious, and comfortable. We loved staying here and hope to return again someday. The back porch was a nice place to relax.

Well located area, nice things to do in Kittery, Portsmouth and Portland isn't too far off for a day trip. Nice backyard porch, good appliances, tv, etc. Nicely decorated. Very responsive host.

Lovely spot
This Eliot house, with its gardens and water views, is very pleasant and relaxing. The house is clean, tidy and comforting. We enjoyed evening cocktails and several meals on the back porch. The location is convenient to many attractions in Portsmouth and Kettery. The house is also very close great local seafood, meat, bread and produce markets. The owner is genuinely interested in making your stay as comfortable as she can. A moveable air conditioner has been added, which we were thankful for on a couple of steamy nights. We would definitely stay here again!

A relaxing experience for body and soul in the quiet beauty of Maine.
This house is a perfect getaway for one or two people. It is in a quiet setting with beautiful water views but just minutes away from the city of Portsmouth NH as well as the coastal towns of Maine and New Hampshire. I hated to leave!

Nice Cozy Place to Stay Close to Southern Maine Attractions
Alison could not have been nicer or more accommodating during our stay. We enjoyed the house and the view from the front is very peaceful and beautiful. It is a great location for all the close-by attractions such as Portsmouth, the Yorks, and NH and ME beaches.

Quiet Getaway
We visited Allison's property as an escape from the everyday chaos of life. The cute, comfortable and tastefully decorated home was the perfect quiet getaway. Allison was very easy to deal with and made herself accessible for any needs that came up (although the house had everything we needed without any question).
The home is small, but for 2 people, it was more than enough space. I adored the calming water views, quiet neighborhood and convenient location. My favorite detail of the home was the big back deck; it was the perfect place to sip my morning coffee.
We had a lovely time! Thank you Allison :)
