If you're going to Acadia, this is a great alternative from the overcrowded frenzy of Bar Harbor, or the overpriced chain hotels/motels around Mount Desert Island. Located just outside Southwest Harbor, this is a quieter corner of MDI with a little village that has a few stores and restaurants (most close at 8pm, so we didn't get to take much advantage). It's about a 15 minute drive from Bass Harbor Light, and about 25 minutes from Bar Harbor, so keep that in mind when planning your visit.
The yurt itself is terrific! Solidly built, with a concrete floor and wood roof ribs, it was remarkably spacious and had all the conveniences of home: modern bath, kitchen, queen bed, couch, and dining table (no TV, which we didn't miss at all.) We stayed in the Beech Mtn yurt, which was set back from the circular drive, offering a bit more privacy than the other yurts.
Most nights, we had a good nights sleep, but there was a rain storm on our final night, which was loud: a reminder that you're staying in a tent, not a solid structure. Also, there is a skylight/oculus centered on the roof, so the light comes streaming in the morning (when we were there, sunrise was at 445am). The hosts do provide eyeshades and earplugs, which do an ok job, but if you're a light sleeper, it might be a challenge to sleep straight through.
Overall, we loved our experience, and would highly recommend to others looking to have a true outdoors stay in one of the most beautiful corners of the northeast.

Wonderful location. Charming and super clean yurt and camp area. Hosts are really on it. If only it was possible to have a local vs group campfire it would have been perfectly perfect.

The yurts are extremely clean and cozy. We had everything we needed and loved waking up to the view of trees and sky in our skylight.
It is so quiet and peaceful, no noisy campers everyone is respectful of the peaceful wooded location.

The yurt was the perfect place to stay to explore Acadia National Park. The yurt is large and open and airy, when I looked at the photos I assumed they were taken with a wide angle lens and it was actually much smaller, but it really was quite spacious.
The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to cook our own meals. The lending library in the little barn was a really nice touch, we borrowed a guidebook and some spices for cooking. We weren’t there long enough to need the washer and dryer, or for any campfires, but it was nice to have those options.
Aaron and Karen were really helpful, everything went smoothly, and we have already recommended Acadia Yurts to friends and family.

My husband and I have been to Acadia Yurts 3 different years now, it’s such a beautiful and peaceful getaway, and we love the beauty of Acadia! Aaron and Karen are fabulous hosts amd wonderful people. They are available to help whether you forgot to print your park pass beforehand or you’re looking for a new trail to try out. We truly love our time there and look forward to returning in years to come!

Our stay at the Arcadia Yurts was amazing! The Yurt and grounds were beautiful, and Aaron and Karen were wonderful hosts, checking in to make sure we had everything we need. We'll definitely be returning for a longer stay!

Well organized property. Yurts and cabins are nestled into a forested plot of land. Each with privacy, foliage and staggered about along an inner roadway. Walkways well defined with lighting and solid footing.
My fondest memory is the sound of the birds in the morning. A beautiful sound to wake up to.

The yurt was everything we'd hoped for - peaceful, quiet, well appointed, with the comfiest bed we've ever slept in away from home! Karen and Aaron we great hosts, showing up on our door step first thing on a Saturday morning when our heat went out. We were celebrating a birthday and they even provided a champagne toast! Very thoughtful touches throughout the space, lovely hot water and water pressure, plenty of pillows. The space was perfect. Just wish I'd brought slippers, as the floors were freezing in late October! We'll definitely be back to stay again...

I remember saying to my husband right after we checked in that this was the first time that a rental property was actually better than the pictures; I was so impressed! The yurt was so clean, beautiful and so functional. We spent most of our days at Acadia National Park but the yurt was such a cozy and quiet place to come back to each evening. The yurts are also all spaced apart enough so that you feel like you have privacy.

I cannot say enough about our wonderful experience. Acadia Yurts is the place to stay for sure! The owners have considered every detail for the Yurts. Glamping at its finest most definitely! Quiet, beautiful yurt community. A laundry station/ share house for items that might not be in your Yurt and also the ability to leave non-perishable items for a future guest. The yurt and community are well maintained. Each detail was so nice, down to the color coded parking spots. We cannot wait for a return trip because we will be staying at Acadia Yurts again! We didn’t get a chance to experience the wellness portion of Acadia Yurts because our days were jam packed with adventures but it is on the return trip must do list!

We checked in late, but didn't have any issues. The place looked brand new and clean. We loved the setting and especially since it was on the quiet side of the island. I booked since all reviews were 5/5 and after staying, I agree. We both loved the massages at the facility and the proximity to Southwest Harbor. Especially liked the hiking gems found on the quiet side like Long Pond. Highly recomend.

We stayed in the beach mountain yurt. We absolutely fell in love. Every detail was perfect. You can hear nature, but are completely comfortable and protected from the elements. We could easily live in one of Aaron and Karens beautiful yurts. I also took advantage of the yoga classes at the wellness center on the property. The studio is beautiful and welcoming. The peace and gratitude cultivated during our stay at Acadia Yurts will not be forgotten.
Stay here! You will love it!

We has such an amazing stay at the yurts. Karen and Aaron do a great job and are very accommodating. We slept great, had just what we needed, and even did laundry a couple of times. Maximize your stay by scheduling a service at the Wellness Center they have onsite. You wont regret it.

Our family of four had an amazing stay. Perfectly located to access all Acadia has to offer. The yurt has everything you need to unplug and enjoy nature. We look forward to another stay!

Acadia Yurts offered an excellent location to many of Mt Desert natural attractions. The property was pristine condition. It is a great place to relax and enjoy Acadia .

This was our first time staying in a yurt, as well as coming to Maine. The yurt is exactly as depicted, but has so many small touches to make your stay comfortable and peaceful, we absolutely loved it. Easy access to many things in any direction. Clark Point Cafe in Southwest Harbor (less than 10 mins from yurt) is wonderful, outstanding breakfast, as well as take and bakes. Finbacks Alehouse in Bar Harbor is a must do, food is phenomenal, drinks are top notch as well. Our yurt stayed comfortably cool with or without A/C, cooking was a breeze in the kitchen and we ate many meals in as well. The grounds of Acadia Yurts is meticulously taken care of by the owners! We can’t wait to come back!!

We loved yurt life. Just as advertised, it was comfortably close to nature. The quiet side was great and very relaxed. Hosts were very welcoming. Thanks for an amazing week in Acadia!

Far enough from busy locations to give you the solitude you may want after a busy day but an easy drive to all the activity in Bar Harbor. You won’t find a more available and friendly pair of hosts. Aaron and Karen are incredibly personable and informative. They truly want you to enjoy not just their place but the area they obviously love. It is amazing how a place so simple can give you everything you need at a cost that allows you to also enjoy all the area has to offer. Their wellness center allows you to complete the mind, body, and spirit connection to go with the natural beauty of the area that helps you recharge from day to day life.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this magical yurt! It was a fun spot to explore Acadia National Park from and for our first bigger trip with our 1 year old! Hosts were friendly and helpful, and we got fantastic massages at the wellness center and attended one of the yoga classes too. The whole area was peaceful- you hear some road noise here and there but nothing crazy. Great hikes nearby that are less busy like Acadia Mountain and Wonderland. The yurt was cozy, clean and spacious- the most modern one we’ve stayed at our of a few across the country for sure. Would love to have stayed longer!

We stayed at Acadia Yurts when we brought our 10 yr. old grandson to visit Maine and Acadia National Park. We absolutely LOVED the yurt experience! Aaron and Karen have furnished the yurt so comfortably and having a full kitchen and nice sized bathroom (with it's own heater) was especially nice. You have the peace and quiet and wooded setting of camping but the comforts of a small apartment - yet you can still enjoy the sounds of the outdoors without all the discomfort of a typical camping experience ;-). Our grandson thought it was awesome and we loved being able to sleep in a comfortable bed! There is even a laundry facility if needed and games to borrow. Be sure to check out the supply of kitchen and camping items that previous guests have kindly left for the next guests before your grocery store run - we left smore skewers, matches, marshmellos. (there was a good selection of plastic wrap, aluminum foil, spices etc.) We highly recommend Acadia Yurts! Aaron and Karen were easy to communicate with and quick to respond to any questions we had. They also offered some terrific suggestions for local restaurants, and activities - we had quite a bit of rain while there so it was very helpful. We hope to return some day!

We had the absolute best stay at Acadia Yurts!! Everything was so clean and thoughtfully planned out when stocking the yurt. It was true glamping at it's finest. We did not get to meet Karen and Aaron, but they left a lovely anniversary surprise at check in, and texted the next day to make sure everything was going ok. Loved the little laundry room where you can check items out to borrow during your stay. The location was great proximity to all of the attractions you would be visiting. I will be telling all of my friends and family about this place!!

We chose to stay here as something different than a hotel, and we were not disappointed. The entire experience was enjoyable and our only complaint was that we weren't able to stay longer.

Our stay at Acadia Yurts was nothing short of amazing. Karen and Aaron were so welcoming and have clearly worked super hard on making the area a perfect little sanctuary. We did Yoga with Karen our first day there and it was a great way to start our week long vacation. The yurt itself has everything you need to feel the comfort of home but still close enough to downtown to go out to eat and sightsee. Would highly recommend and we can't wait to go back for another visit!

This was a fantastic blend of camping and all the comforts of home. The yurt was super clean and comfortable. Karen and Aaron were great to work with. We loved how close to Acadia we were. Yes, the last week of October presents some weather challenges but they are overcome with waterproof clothes and a cozy yurt to return to. We are already figuring out next trip. Thank you for a setting that is SO much better than any hotel room.

The property was terrific. Well maintained and it had everything we needed. Enjoyed the quiet location which provided for a very relaxing vacation away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. The great weather in early October was icing on the cake!

This is yurt living at its finest! Karen and Aaron thought of absolutely everything when they set up this property. It provided one of the most unique experiences ever! It’s close to Bar Harbor and numerous hiking/biking trails. All the restaurants nearby were awesome as was the fresh lobster! We would go back in a heartbeat!!

We celebrated our 30th anniversary and had everything we needed in our yurt! We explored Southwest, Northeast, Bar and Seal Harbors. We rented bikes and took many rides on the carriage roads, went on a sailing excursion with Sail Acadia, and hiked in Acadia! The scenery was breathtaking and we loved being so close by car to all of it! Our favorite restaurants were Hearth and Harbor, Eat a Pita and cafe 2, Thurston’s Lobster Pound, awesome fried chicken at Peter Trouts, our anniversary dinner at Little Fern, picking up sandwiches at little notch bakery, and ice cream from salt shop! We also enjoyed 2 cats for breakfast and Lunch for lunch in Bar harbor. We are anxious to return next summer and plan to bring our whole family!
The only thing I did not bring that I needed was a hair dryer. Luckily there is a stock pile of items in the laundry area where you will find just about anything you need from lobster pots and bug spray to an iron and decks of cards. You can sign them out to use for as long as you need them we left a few items behind to add to the collection!

Yurt was a delight: spacious, on dead end rural road, great central location, quiet, fun to look up at skylight. What we liked: location, full kitchen, food items left by others you can borrow, onsite laundry, composting system, very clean. Suggestions : needs microwave, cleanser, basic spices. Would recommend in a heartbeat 💓💓

This was the perfect little spot for our honeymoon! The yurt was so fun to be in and it was a perfect distance away from Acadia while still being in its own cute little town.
