Acadia Yurts offers visitors the most unique way to stay on Mount Desert Island. Seven fun, eco-friendly Yurts and two Tiny Houses will bring you as close to nature as camping, with all the amenities of home. Located on 5 acres of lovely wooded land, surrounded by Acadia National Park property, Acadia Yurts offer a peaceful retreat for your group (up to 4 guests per 24' Yurt, 6 guests for the 30' Yurt or 2 guests per Tiny House). Acadia Yurts is also ideal for large groups traveling with accommodations for up to 34 people on 1 site.

In addition to yurt or tiny house living, the Wellness Center at Acadia Yurts offers on-site yoga, an infrared sauna and a flotation tank, all available for extra charge. Prices available upon request.

A yurt is a tent-like circular fabric structure with a wood lattice frame that originated among the nomadic tribes in Asia. These permanent, colorful structures have thick canvas exterior walls that include reflective insulation and a high efficiency heat pump/AC unit so you can be comfortable during any season. Yurts are quickly becoming a new vacation experience that vacationers are enjoying throughout the US from cliff side views in California to ski lodges in Colorado. This is a memorable place to stay while enjoying the beauty of Acadia!

If you're going to Acadia, this is a great alternative from the overcrowded frenzy of Bar Harbor, or the overpriced chain hotels/motels around Mount Desert Island. Located just outside Southwest Harbor, this is a quieter corner of MDI with a little village that has a few stores and restaurants (most close at 8pm, so we didn't get to take much advantage). It's about a 15 minute drive from Bass Harbor Light, and about 25 minutes from Bar Harbor, so keep that in mind when planning your visit. The yurt itself is terrific! Solidly built, with a concrete floor and wood roof ribs, it was remarkably spacious and had all the conveniences of home: modern bath, kitchen, queen bed, couch, and dining table (no TV, which we didn't miss at all.) We stayed in the Beech Mtn yurt, which was set back from the circular drive, offering a bit more privacy than the other yurts. Most nights, we had a good nights sleep, but there was a rain storm on our final night, which was loud: a reminder that you're staying in a tent, not a solid structure. Also, there is a skylight/oculus centered on the roof, so the light comes streaming in the morning (when we were there, sunrise was at 445am). The hosts do provide eyeshades and earplugs, which do an ok job, but if you're a light sleeper, it might be a challenge to sleep straight through. Overall, we loved our experience, and would highly recommend to others looking to have a true outdoors stay in one of the most beautiful corners of the northeast.

Wonderful location. Charming and super clean yurt and camp area. Hosts are really on it. If only it was possible to have a local vs group campfire it would have been perfectly perfect.

The yurts are extremely clean and cozy. We had everything we needed and loved waking up to the view of trees and sky in our skylight. It is so quiet and peaceful, no noisy campers everyone is respectful of the peaceful wooded location.

The yurt was the perfect place to stay to explore Acadia National Park. The yurt is large and open and airy, when I looked at the photos I assumed they were taken with a wide angle lens and it was actually much smaller, but it really was quite spacious. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to cook our own meals. The lending library in the little barn was a really nice touch, we borrowed a guidebook and some spices for cooking. We weren’t there long enough to need the washer and dryer, or for any campfires, but it was nice to have those options. Aaron and Karen were really helpful, everything went smoothly, and we have already recommended Acadia Yurts to friends and family.

Well organized property. Yurts and cabins are nestled into a forested plot of land. Each with privacy, foliage and staggered about along an inner roadway. Walkways well defined with lighting and solid footing. My fondest memory is the sound of the birds in the morning. A beautiful sound to wake up to.
