About this cottage rental
Welcome to our Paw Paw getaway. Our family has enjoyed Paw Paw for decades and has decided to share that joy with others.
Tucked away past the dam you will find the Paw Paw Cottage. A quaint cedar shake 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage with a large yard and dock. This cottage is perfect for a small family or couple that wants to just get away and relax. Breathtaking views of the sunrise over Maple Lake pierce the east facing windows. Steam rises from the lake as the Blue Heron makes his usual fishing stop at the end of the dock. Morning fishermen troll along the lakes edge and disappear into the cove. Enjoying a fresh cup of coffee while taking in all the sights is simply joyful.
For the adventurous soul there are 2 paddle boards of differing lengths and 2 kayaks in the garage. They are very easy to use and will provide a fun and relaxing time on the water. Also available is a lily pad float for the kids and a small inflatable boat. Don't forget to paddle to the island and walk along the sandy shore.
Nearby we have the famous St. Julian Winery. A family tradition dating back many decades. I would recommend a tour. And a wine tasting! :)
A little over 30 minutes away is the town of South Haven. One of the most beautiful beach towns in all of Michigan. Highly recommended!
And you can always visit a fresh produce stand or blueberry farm.

We enjoyed our time at the cabin on the lake. The kids enjoyed swimming off the dock, and the adults enjoyed kayaking out to go fishing.

We came to stay for an extended weekend to celebrate our anniversary with our dog. It was the perfect stay. The house is well furnished and included extra amenities for your dog(s) as well. The house was very clean. Being right on the lake was beautiful and made for great mornings sitting on the deck looking out over the lake. There was good restaurants in town and great hiking trails all within 20 minutes. I would highly recommend this location and would come stay again!

This was such a wonderful and surprising find for us. We needed a place to stay for the weekend for a birthday celebration in nearby Kalamazoo. To start, the cottage is the cleanest rental we have ever stayed in. Very tastefully decorated and has all the amenities one would need. You just can’t beat the view of the lake. The location is nice and we were able to walk our dog in the park close by each morning. It was convenient and fun to visit the little town of Paw Paw. It is in close proximity to Kalamazoo, and South Haven if one wants to venture out for a day trip. LaCatina, Red Dog Root Beer Stand are just a couple of the restaurants available. We ate pizza on the deck and watched the ducks and swans swim by. We savored the little time we had just to sit by the waters edge and enjoy the serenity of it all. Unfortunately on this visit, we didn’t get to spend much time at the cottage due to the birthday festivities in Kalamazoo. We sure hope to get back there for a full fledged vacation. Hands down, we would recommend this home for a delightful stay.

First time we've booked a vacation property and everything was perfect from beginning to end. Property was exactly as described, pristinely clean and very comfortable and homey. Provided amenities were very thoughtful. Everyone enjoyed the cottage and we're already ready to book again. Well done, hosts!

Cute House and lovely view! Close to other attractions

This property is clean and has everything you need to relax and unwind. The deck overlooking Maple Lake was a great place to read a book and enjoy a glass of wine that was purchased at the near-by wineries. Plenty of restaurants and things to do in the area.

This a very nice cottage. The lake views are beautiful especially in the morning. Had a great time kayaking the lake and a bonfire in the evening! Dog friendly with fences on each side to keep them in the yard. Great place will book it again in the future.

This was our second time staying there and we had a great time with our two dogs. The yard is nice and big with plenty of room to play.
My husband had fun fishing every day and caught (and released) many fish.
We used the paddle boards and the lily pad almost every day.

Quite location close to downtown. We were able to have our own space but also visit with family close by on an another lake. Beautiful little cottage.

We had a great stay in Paw Paw on Maple Lake! The property was as described. The owner was easy to communicate with. My kids enjoyed the paddleboards and kayaks, my husband enjoyed some fishing and I enjoyed the peace and relaxation of the lake. Would definitely stay again!

3rd stay here and I love it every time. The house has all you’ll need and the lake is so peaceful and relaxing.

We had a great time in PawPaw! The cottage was in good condition, comfortable and is located on a pretty part of the lake. The lake was surprisingly calm and quiet allowing us to use the kayaks multiple times. A short paddle directly across the lake took us to Maple Island which is a park, and through a culvert we were able to access Ackley Lake. It was a short drive (half hour) to Lake Michigan where we enjoyed a day of rock collecting and visiting the lighthouses. Check in/out was easy. Bart was very prompt to respond to us when we had a question. The only negative was the ceiling vents were really dirty. Especially the kitchen. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed having such a beautiful view of the lake from both the dining table and living room. The living room furniture was worn and not real comfortable, but we were on that lovely deck most if the time, so no big deal for us. We plan on going back. It was a great set up for us!

We had a great relaxing time. Had a family gathering one day. Ate at La Cantina, very good! Red's Root Beer stand is very good also! Weather was great!

We really enjoyed this house. It was easy to get find and conveniently located. The views of the lake are very pretty and when the weather was cooperative we enjoyed it very much. If we plan another trip to the area, we will definitely book again.

The water offered a perfect way to getaway and relax. The waterway wasn’t busy for kayaking or paddle boarding, the calmness of the water was just right. The water also offered exploration opportunities to an island and through a tunnel, and even to a second dam on the water. Also, the chance to float down the river was right there.

We came to visit friends and loved Cedar Shake Cottage! The pictures are accurate, and we enjoyed making coffee in the morning and watching all the wildlife on the lake (turtles, eagles, and a very curious muskrat).
Also, my wife and I work remotely, and we didn't have any issues with the internet using VPNs to remote in—just a note for those digital nomads out there.
Overall, this was the perfect place for us and we will be back in the future when we visit Michigan.

Perfect if you want to chill right on Maple Lake. The kayaks are a tricky though.

My wife and I had a very relaxing and quiet stay at this property. The accommodations were clean, comfortable and well equipped with a very nice view of Maple Lake. The owners were very accommodating to our special requests and were very responsive with their communications. We would definitely stay there again. We highly recommend the property.

This was our second time staying at your Maple Lake Cottage and it didn’t disappoint. With having family members living in the same neighborhood this is a perfect spot for our holiday stay.
The weather was iffy leading up to our rental dates with the area having multiple days of blizzard conditions. Having contacted our host to confirm that we in fact would be there he told me that the plow trucks would be ready to go!
When we arrived, sure enough, the driveway was plowed out, walkways were cleared of snow/ice and the cottage was cozy warm! (Living down south it was fantastic to have the snow for a change)
We look forward to staying again at some point this year. Maybe next time we will be able to take advantage of the lake in a warmer season.

The location was perfect, quiet but not too far from shops and restaurants. Would definitely stay again! Thank you!

This property offers what it promises; renew, revive and replenish. It's our third time at Maple Lake and in every season we see rich wildlife, beautiful lake views and quiet comfort. We love this property!

Very nice cottage located on the lake. There is a very large parking lot, and multiple parks nearby for recreation and walking dogs.

Great recharging weekend...very quiet and convenient to amenmities

We both found the Lakeview beautiful! The kitchen was clean and inviting. However upon entering the home the white carpet is old and dirty, the leather couch was old and needs to be replaced. We could not get the fireplace working and to be honest we did not feel that being asked to take out the trash was appropriate - we both felt that that’s what cleaning fees are for. Peeling ceiling paint in the bathroom needs to be repaired. Please provide ample coffee for your guests in the future.
Dealing with the owner was easy and he was very nice and professional ( we liked Bart) but overall we will not be back.

This is the 4th year in a row my dad and I have had our “deer camp” here. As always it did not disappoint!!
4.8
My fiancé and I had a wonderful stay here. We took our three dogs with us and they loved it as well! The lake is just shallow enough by the yard that our dogs (German Shepherds) could stand in it and touch the bottom which they absolutely loved. Some stairs or a ramp to get out of the water right there easier would be nice but definitely not a dealbreaker. We didn’t have any issues with the property; everything was as stated in the listing.

needs updates, but beautiful view

Nice, clean home. Awesome spot on the lake with use of kayaks and other water toys. Firepit too! Great property and will be back!

Smaller quaint older home on smaller lake, very quiet and relaxing, would recommend this home.

We had such a great weekend here! So peaceful and relaxing. Caught a Northern Pike within our first day! Loved the property and the owners are very nice and easy to work with! 5 stars for sure!

Went for a three night four day stay. With our two dogs. House was clean bright and cheery.
We used the two kayaks and the raft provided for fun and relaxation. We will definitely return. Pictures provided are accurate..

This was a great little cottage on the lake with wonderful views! We had the best week spending time with family who live in the area...now we're looking for a lake cottage in the area, too! Highly recommend!

My husband and I stayed here for 5 days with our two golden retrievers. We all had a great time! The cottage was as described and tastefully decorated and clean. We enjoyed using the lily pad and the paddle boards. The fishing was good as we caught (and released) bass, walleye and bluegill. Loved the lake view, deck and generous yard for our dogs. Spent most of our time outside enjoying the peace and quiet.
It’s close to town and restaurants. Recommend the garden griddle for lunch and la cantina and Brewsters were good for dinners!
Being able to bring our dogs was the main reason we chose this place and we weren’t disappointed. Would definitely stay here again.
My only suggestion would be that it would be nice to have steps leading into the lake, but everything else was spot on.

This was our second visit to Maple Lake. We had a perfect vacation together swimming, paddle boarding, fishing, feeding swans and watching the glorious wildlife that flew over the lake at all hours of the day. We will be back next summer for sure!

My family had a three night stay here on the north end of Maple Lake. The cottage was very clean with great a great view and a lot to do! The paddle boards and lily pad for the kids were a hit! My daughter and I woke up at sunset and paddled our to Maple Isle one morning and the lake was like glass. Fishing all around the lake including right off the dock was awesome. My daughter caught her first fish here. Local restaurants and grocery stores were very convenient. La Cantina was amazing on a weekend summer night with outdoor seating and a live jazz band. The neighbors were also very kind. Overall, this was the perfect place for a family of four and our aqua dog who loves to get wet!

Great property!
The location on the lake was wonderful. My kids enjoyed using the paddle boards, fishing, and feeding ducks and swans from the dock. We appreciated that the house was dog friendly. My one negative is that the beds were not comfortable at all.

We rented the house to take my 82 year old mother-in-law for a nice vacation outside of her retirement community. This was the perfect place. Right on the lake for a nice view for early morning breakfast and evening card games. The place was clean, had fun water items and the deck chairs by the lake were my favorite spot to be. The kitchen could use a little more items for those of us that like to utilize the kitchen of our rentals, but we managed. :) There was a thunder storm while we were there and we lost power for a little bit. Couldn't find candles/flashlights so contacted owner and he responded right away. We only suceeded in finding one candle and survived it just fine. Owner stated he woukd add flashlights and emergency candles to his list of items needed. All in all it was a great place to stay and I would come here again in a heart beat.

Girls Weekend
This was my second time staying at the property. We went for a girls weekend and it was wonderful. The lake is so relaxing and the house checks all of our boxes. We had a blast and found ourselves just wanting to be at the house and chill by the lake and fire pit. Looking forward to going back next year!

Comfy little house with an amazing virw
We had such an amazing time. Comfortable beds, plenty of room, full kitchen set up, clean and an amazing backyard and view. All the outdoor things you could want stored in the garage. My family had a wonderful time. Highly recommend.
