About this house rental
Welcome to paradise! You are renting a great beach house in the Pleasure Point area of Santa Cruz, CA, the famous surfing and hanging-out beach. The house is a 5min walk to the beach. I purchased this house so visitors with kids (or just kids at heart) would have a fun relaxing time. The amenities include a large backyard (for the beach) with a game room (includes 42" TV, Ms. PAC-MAN / Galaga Arcade game, and a foosball table). On the back patio, we have an outdoor dining set, large stainless BBQ, ping-pong table, deck, and of course... a large HOT TUB! In the garage, the fun continues with surfboards (beginner and experienced riders), boogie boards, wetsuits, beach chairs, umbrella, kids beach toys, beach cruisers etc. All for your entertainment and entertaining.
The house has 5 bedrooms. (We have an 8 adult max)
1) The 'master' bedroom with a King Bed and private bathroom.
2) The 'guest' bedroom with a Queen Bed
3) The 'kids' bedroom with a Twin over Full bunk bed
4) The 'breezeway' bedroom with a pull-out/pop-up trundle daybed (two twins )
5) The 'office' bedroom with a pull-out/pop-up trundle daybed (two twins ) and a desk for wired/wireless internet
The house has full 2 bathrooms
1) The 'master' bathroom has two sinks, shower/tub, toilet, and skylight
2) The 'hallway' bathroom has a one sink, shower/tub and toilet
The kitchen is loaded with stainless steel appliances and fully stocked with cookware.
The house sits on a private road. No parking passes required. In addition, the house is on a cul-de-sac which leads to low traffic for a beach house. Safe for playing in the street.
House Details
The house is 1500 Sq Ft and a flat roof (which means lower than normal ceilings in the back 2 bedrooms) 7ft guests not recommended.
Check out our get-away in the mountains near Bear Valley Ski resort. Also great in the summer sitting on a private lake in Arnold. vrbo #474196

Close to the beach with an awesome backyard for the kids to run around. There was a couple of nice restaurants about a 10 minute walk and the beach was also just 10 minutes away.

Great house in nice neighborhood, very central to most things. We were able to walk to dinner locations. Very clean, comfortable EVERYTHING works. Nice hot tub, neat back yard with fire pit. Process was super easy. Definitely good value for money. Strongly recommend

Lots of room to relax or hang out in groups. Great location, near beach, dog park and great local shops, all within walking distance. Bedrooms have backyard access which helped early risers and late night relaxing by the fire. Heated outdoor shower was great when returning from the beach. Landlord very responsive. Would stay again.

We had a great time. The location is amazing. We rode the Beach Cruisers to the beach everyday. The surfing was good and it was so close to the house. We will be staying again in the near future.

The house and grounds were perfect for a family getaway. The game room was used, as well as the outdoor spa. Even though the weekend was a bit rainy in January, the block and a half walk to the beach and bluff was amazing. We also walked down the hill to Capitola by the Sea. The home was easy to use for our multi-generational weekend!

Nice area, spacious, very well stocked with lots of items. Not as clean as I hoped. Probably because of pets. But overall enjoy the place. No doggie door cover in the bedroom by the laundry room very cold and drafty. Main Heater was not lit up when we got there, needed to work on getting the spark going a few times. Loved the hot tub and the fire pit.

Great house, fully stocked with all things needed for a family vacation. Close to ocean views, Santa Cruz and shopping. Could use a little TLC, updating and organization. Paper products not provided.

Pictures do not do this house justice. I have stayed in many vrbo/airb&b's and this was hands down my FAVORITE! Not only close to the beach but to shopping and restaurants also. This house has EVERYTHING & feels like home! Truly a hidden secret. Me, my kids & grandkids had plenty of space. The rooms are big & spacious. We had 4 adults, 2 kids & 1 toddler & 1 infant (who stayed at the house) plus my sister who lives in Santa Cruz plus her kids & grandkids visited & that was 5 more adults and 2 more toddlers and we had room to cook & eat & hang out. The backyard is huge and the game room & spa was awesome also. I can not say enough AMAZING things about this house and look forward to staying here again. One one last thing is communication with the host was wonderful! I hope you enjoy your stay as much as i did and I'm looking forward to more memories in this house. 💗

This is an annual trip for a group of friends. The location is great and convenient. A bit short on the basics - towels, broom. Overall the house was cute and comfortable.

This is a great house in the Pleasure Point area. Everything was just as listed and we could have spent several days just in the backyard and walking down the street to the ocean. As it was, this was also a good location for us to use as a home base while we visited the San Jose area, Monterey area, Felton, and the more touristy side of Santa Cruz while having a quieter feel like home. Our 3 generations of visitors and dogs really enjoyed it. The street is very quiet in general and I slept better there than at home, wish is saying something. The neighborhood feels very safe and everyone I met in the area treated me like a local, which I appreciate when I travel. One tip for future visitors: unlike a lot of rentals I've used, there were no condiments in the refrigerator and very few spices so make sure to bring your own.

This property accommodates large groups quite well.
We enjoyed the hot tub & outdoor areas in particular.
A few concerns ;
The property manager neglected to alert us to the fact that
groundskeepers would be there to service the hot tub & move garbage cans out for collection (after ten pm).
The five year old in our family alerted us to a “stranger” being in the backyard. These were both huge security and communication lapses.
I think you should have enough linens and towels to turn over the house without inconveniencing your guests.

We were concerned about a previous review we read.
When we arrived everything was clean and tidy . All appliances and tv's were in working order, beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well outfitted, the wall heater kept us warm. The owner quickly responded to our requests. He even suggested places to visits on our rain drenched days. The kids enjoyed the playhouse in the backyard. The garage had all kinds of beach apparatus . Lovely big back yard with great ping pong table and outdoor fire pit. We would definitely come back again.

This was a great place! It was an easy walk to the beach and downtown area. I’d highly recommend the donut shop 2 blocks away. We all had fun trying to beat each others score on the arcade game. It rained the whole time we were there and it was one of the most fun I e had on a family vacation.

We’ll equipped home, including surf boards and wet suits. Great location, close to the 38th St beach. Santa Cruz is a great town to explore, close to the Redwoods and many beaches.

We rented this property for a family getaway. While the location was lovely, and the setup of the home worked well for our family, we were very disappointed by multiple things: on day 1 the hot tub was not usable due large clumps of hair and dirt (someone did come and clean the hot tub on our second day). While running the dishwasher soon after checkin, it broke and filled the house with a burnt plastic smell, and set off the fire alarms. After removing the melted piece of plastic that had broken off, we found a nearly identical piece near the trash in the yard, which leads me to believe the host was aware that the dishwasher was broken and chose not to fix it. We had to evacuate the house for a few hours due to the smell of burned plastic to allow it to air out. The host did not respond to a message after this happened, so we had to hand wash everything for the rest of the trip. On day 3 when hand washing everything, the plumbing and disposal under the kitchen sink literally fell onto the floor of the under sink cabintet so that the kitchen sink became unusable. While not as horrendous as the dishwasher and sink, it is also worth mention that we did need to clean the kitchen before use on checkin as the cabinets and countertops were sticky.
We had to leave early as we needed use of the sink for our baby/ washing bottles, etc. We wrote to the host about this as well and still have not received a response. These were issues that required an immediate remedy and I think we deserve a refund as this is not what we agreed to and paid for. It's very unfortunate because with a little more attention and care this could be a lovely vacation spot, but not if the owner isn't willing to to be responsive and keep the home in proper repairs.

Perfect Location
We looked for a property centrally located near the Beach and Redwoods. Great food, shopping, and outdoor activities. This trip was for moms only, but I will surely be back with my husband and kids!

Good for family, great for ocean access
This home offers a casual, family-friendly space, very close to the beach. It has the basics as well as a lot of fun "toys", like the Ms. Pac Man machine and a ping pong table. It's hard to know whether the previous guests were just really messy or if the cleaning was subpar, but some things were noticeably unclean (for example, there was trash in the fire pit and candy all over one corner of the back yard). But besides the mess (which was mostly outdoors), we really enjoyed our stay and access to the beach.

Great Vacation spot close to Boardwalk and Capitola
It is what you would expect from an eclectic Santa Cruz Home, mismatch dishes, puzzles, boardgames to the array of books from programming to how to start your own restaurant. We took our son for his 17th Birthday and three of his friends. This was a great spot and location. We could make a quick drive and drop the boys at the Boardwalk and the adults could go for a nice walk down to Capitola. This seems to be a major surfing area with a launch point just a couple blocks from the house. If you want to try the waves you can use the supplied surf boards and boogie boards or just go down and watch. The ping pong table was great for the nightly competitions and of course they all tried to beat Dad's highscore on the classic Galaga arcade game (they never did).
Walking distance to a wonderful donut shop with fresh donuts daily. If you call them they will make donuts for you the next day to insure you don't miss out on your favorite, maple bars went fast and the glazed Cronut (croisant donut). The carnaceria has some great seasoned meat to make your own street tacos at home (buy more than you think). Two dining tables outside had plenty of space for us to enjoy our meals outside. At the end of the day you can relax in the huge hot tub. The boys walked to 7-11 nightly for slurpees and what ever. One of the bikes had a flat tire but the owner was quick to respond. A great time was had by all.

Wonderful location with many great amenities - large backyard and games for the kids. We enjoyed several campfires as well as the pingpong table and hot tub. Located on a quiet cut de sac with a very easy walk to the ocean.

Delightful Getaway
The property and location are perfect for a spring break getaway from the Bay Area. We had two teenagers who gots TONS of use out of the ping pong table, hot tub, and bikes. We enjoyed walking to the local cafes, exploring downtown Capitola, and watching the countless surfers do their thing just down the street! The beds were comfy and we loved having a dog door for our two small dogs. :)
