About this cabin rental
The Laurels Cabin is part of our 'rustic lodge'. Our lodge is located on the banks of the beautiful Watauga River, halfway between Johnson City and Elizabethton. The lodge was designed to resemble a horse barn and sits on 5 acres with over 600 feet of river frontage and consists of 3 cabins.
The upstairs Laurels Cabin has over 600 square feet of living space. The cabin has a queen bed, cat napper sofa, one full bath, along with a full kitchen and living area. The Laurels cabin can accommodate 2-4 comfortably. The living room has a cat napper sofa which reclines almost flat in case you wish to sleep on it.
All linens are included -- all you have to do is pick up some food and bring your personal items -- all other items will be provided for you! The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, cookware, toaster, coffee maker and microwave.
The cabin has heat/air conditioning, ceiling fan, flat screen satellite TV, DVD/VCR, central laundry facility and gas grill.
Very convenient to both Johnson City and Elizabethton (10 minutes) as well as Roan Mountain, Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain and Hawksnest ski resorts (45-60 minutes). Immediately adjacent to the lodge is the Watauga River which is about 100 feet wide and is home to some of the finest trout fishing in the Eastern United States. Trout species in the Watauga River are Rainbow, Brook and Brown as well as several types of Bass and various non-game species. This lower part of the Watauga has been designated as the 'Quality Trout Zone.'
We have other cabins available please call for dates and prices.

Had slight difficulty getting in, the management company had given me the wrong code. After calling the phone number, was able to get correct code and get in. The cabin was very clean and cute. I would suggest room darken curtains in bedroom. Windows are high, but morning sun is bright. I will definitely be staying againfor my next trip to TN..

It is so beautiful by the river it’s impossible to stay in the room. We played corn hole, horseshoes, tether ball, board games on the deck. We sat on the deck overlooking the river and talked. We love a fire so really enjoyed the fire pit area. We hated to leave, however, we live close by so we plan on making your place our weekend getaway as much as we can. Thank you!

We truly enjoyed our stay, such a nice place right beside the River. My only reason for not giving a 5 rating on cleanliness was due to the floors and rugs needing to be cleaned. The people staying on the lower level to the left arrived late Friday night, Saturday at lunch time several of their family members came to enjoy the river with them, they had 6 kids and at least 5 adults and they took over everything and were loud. They spoiled our quiet weekend getaway, unfortunately. But, we would stay there again and hope we have better neighbors next time.

I was in town to visit my son and daughter-in-law. I loved how peaceful and quiet it was and felt very safe staying there by myself. Loved not having to stay in a hotel!

I was very disappointed. We are in our 60’s and 70’s. We didn’t realize we had to go up and down 15 - 20 steps to get to the cabin. It was very difficult with all of the food, suitcases, etc. The cabin itself was extremely dirty. It’s pretty bad when your shoes stick to the rugs. We had to go from the shower directly into our shoes. Dishes pulled from the cabinets were greasy. Mirrors were smeared, furniture in disrepair. Couldn’t use any of the furniture outside because it was so dirty. Wasn’t about to use the grill. We won’t be back.

Our flyfishing club members booked 4 units of the beautiful property, providing each person with comfortable privacy and plenty of spaces for indoors and outside group socializing.

Rolling hills and the wandering Watuga on a high water weekend of rafting...this is the best possible way to kick off our 2024 rafting season. This property offers so much more then described. These hosts think of everything required to relax admist the grandeur of nature. Our favorite feature was riverside dining. Several options of outdoor cooking offered. I would love to cook every meal overlooking the water. We also enjoyed socializing with other guests on the property. Over all a perfect 10 weekend. We have already planned the next trip to Laurel cabin! Thank you for this weekend getaway destination!

This is our 4th stay at these nicely decorated, comfortable cabins. (They also have everything you need.)
We had a relaxing 3 days with a lovely picnic on the deck, fly fishing on the river, and a hike at Sycamore Shoals.

We enjoyed our stay in Laurels Cabin. The property is very laid back and relaxing. We did have an issue at check-in but the property manager was very responsive and quick to resolve the issue. Very unique property!

Property is beautiful & worked perfectly for our group of 10 people there for a softball tournament. Each family had their own space & we enjoyed the views, River, outside area for our meals, etc. My only recommendation for the Laurels cabin would be to definitely put an AC unit in the bedroom. The difference between the living room & bedroom/bathroom is huge. It was pretty unbearable to sleep in the bedroom & use the bathroom even with all fans going & leaving the door open for the cool air from the living room to flow in. The smoke alarm also went off at 4am one night which we took a while finding to cut off & never quite figured out why it went off. Otherwise, it’s a beautiful space & we enjoyed our time.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Watauga River Cabins. The location is simply outstanding. Right above the Watauga River and only a short walk down to the river. Enjoyed watching my dog play in the water. Even in the middle of a hot July, there is a cool breeze at river level. The cabin is a wonderful design. We had the upstairs apartment and there are two more below if climbing stairs is not your thing. I suggest replacing the dishes in this cabin, 90 percent of them were chipped or cracked. This is just a detail that gives a bad impression. Lots of outdoor spaces to cook, eat, play. The overlook river porch was our favorite with comfy rocking chairs to welcome the sunset and watch the river rise. Would be a great place for multiple family generations to meet for a reunion. Convenient location to shopping in Elizabethton too. We will stay here again.

The property is very welcoming. Many extras in sheds closets etc. Watch out for Poison Ivy, there is a lot and I'm currently broke out, lol. The Fishing is tough, bring a medium action fishing pole and 12lb line, wait for the river to generate. The Blackstone grill would not properly heat the first morning but after that it worked fine.

Loved the property. Thought it was a single family property but it is a multiple family area so you don't have it to your self.

We were amazed at the layout and the amenities of this property. Our only regret was that we didn't bring our kayaks and stay longer.

Being by the river is amazing! Feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, but you can be to town in 10-15 minutes.
The cabin was nice and everything was a described.
My only complaint is the bed. It was way too firm.

The Laurel is a really cozy 2nd floor cabin with 2 beautiful balcony views both in front and in the back of the space. Everything you need for a laid back stay which included access to a fire pit and bbq area with outdoor table and chairs. We loved it!!

We were in the area visiting Johnson City and had our two small dogs with us. Looked for a property with an area so my dogs could run around a bit.
The good things...A great location. Would serve perfectly for a large group or family reunion type of event with each having their own cabin. The outside area would be perfect as well, though we didnt use it due to the low temps. Checking in with a keycode was very easy and convenient.
The bad things... The Laurels is poorly insulated. There is a gas fireplace but due to having our dogs, we didnt use it for safety. The wall heater worked well but left a great temp difference between rooms. There was a portable space heater in the bedroom, but we didnt use that either for safety. Wouldnt be an issue in the summer months. Dishes and utensils were dirty and we had to wash them prior to use. The bed... It is bad. The most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept. So bad, we tried the pull out couch the next night to see if it was any better. That was worse mistake. Dealt with it the remaining nights on the bed. The stairs... The door is about 4 stairs up the stairway. Going up, not an issue. Coming down from inside there is. There is no railing and I fell at night when the outside light didnt kick on. The door sticks and when I gave it a push I stepped down and missed the step. Just hurt my pride but could have been a lot worse. I would avoid the Laurels due to this, but I would book one of the other ground level cabins again.

This is the 2nd time we stayed at the cabin. I’m under cancer treatment believe me it was a relaxing & peaceful place. I woke up in the morning listening to the river noise, there’s plenty of different spots to relax outside. A BBQ area, etc. It’s a beautiful place we enjoyed it! It’s appropriate for any age. We will be back again in summer.
