About this cottage rental

This two-bedroom cottage has comfortable queen-sized beds, if you have a 5th person, its doable. The bathroom has a shower with two built in seats for comfort. (There is no tub.) People will love the separate vanity that has bright lights and a large mirror. This space has a barstool tucked underneath and the who unit serves as a styling and makeup area. The laundry room has a washer and dryer and is stocked with detergent and fabric softener. There's also an iron and iron board in this area, as well as a full length mirror. There are 3 large TVs. and a 4th 17" TV all are equipped with ROKU, and cable TV. The smaller one is in a gaming/business area, which can accommodate remote business needs. The living room is small, but modern and cozy , with USB ports, which are also in each bedroom for your convenience. The kitchen has a folding wooden table which opens up and as many as six can sit around it. It's well stocked with all the dishes, pots and pans, as well as basic cooking seasonings that cooks love. There is a dishwasher, dishwasher detergent and the basic cleaning supplies for your use as needed. The kitchen and the living room are both easily accessed from the carport, and the driveway can accommodate at least 3 or 4 cars. The cottage sits on over an acre with a swing in the back yard and plans to for a fire pit as soon as we start booking. There already is plenty of stack firewood free to the guests. The quiet neighborhood makes for a sound sleep. Wake up to hot coffee or tea provided. You may want to sit out on the front deck with your first hot cup and enjoy the sound of birds and rustling trees, or sit by a camp fire in the firepit out back. No matter what your plans, you'll find our area has a lot to interest visitors. (Browse the brochures we have provided for you.) Since our town of Elizabethton was founded in 1799, it's an excellent area for history buffs. Just minutes away is Fort Watauga, with events happening every weekend, along with the gift shop, museum, and our yearly outdoor drama. You'll also find picnic tables and a walking trail that goes alongside the river. Nearby is an outdoor community pool. Oh, and by the way, if you didn't see the river as you came to the property, just leave in the opposite direction and in a half mile, you will see it! (By the way, it's an international award winning trout stream!) If take 19 E to the east, you'll go into the mountains. If you turn left at Hampton, you will eventually get to Watauga Lake, which is over 17 miles in length. There you'll find a beach, boat ramps, picnic areas and boat rentals. If hiking is your thing, you'll find that the Appalachian Trail intersects a lot of out mountainous roads. If you keep straight on 19 E instead of turning off, you'll reach Roan Mountain and can turn into Roan Mountain State Park where Rhododendron's cover the side of the mountain. The blooms are purple and make the side of the mountain appear to be cover in purple. The top of the mountain is bordered by North Carolina and at the parking area at the top of the almost 7,000 ft elevation, you can stand with one leg in TN and one leg in NC. Trails abound in the mountains, and many follow streams of water and along the trail you'll view some beautiful ones. If you continue on east from Roan Mountain, you'll eventually find the Blue Ridge Parkway, where people come for miles to see the fall foilage. There area breathtaking views all year. lf you're into winter sports, Beech and Sugar ski resorts are for you. Biking is also a good option. We have our own little Tweetsie Trail, which runs 10 miles from Johnson City through Elizabethton, and ends near the Starlite Outdoor Theatre (which was used for graduation during Covid.) An hour drive from the cottage, you'll find a 34-mile long trail, called the Creeper Trail, which starts in Damascus, VA. They have bike rentals and vans that will take 17 miles up the mountain (if you don't want to bike up the mountain, It's beautiful and there's nice stops along the way as you follow the railroad grade trail down. Back to the cottage again, in downtown, there's a great car show, from spring to fall, and many of the shops open for business. Speaking of cars, Nascar's Bristol Motor Speedway is a 30 minute drive from the house. If you plan to go allow at least an hour or more due to the traffic. I know you're not gonna want to spend your time cooking, so we better talk a little about the food in the area, (I will be supplying info about the food and shops in our area, so make sure you browse them a bit.) Let's start with southern food. Biscuits and Gravy, Grits and/or Taters! You'll find these all around in all the non-chain places. Then there's BBQ, they're just about everywhere too. One you might want to try is back in the woods on the Old Elizabethton Hwy. It may not look like much, but just looking at the parking lot will tell you it's got good food. (Read the article about the cook.) It was featured on Good Morning America. (Not open on Sunday) Another popular southern meal is Pinto Beans and Cornbread, which again, is best at the smaller places. Food reigns in the Tri-Cities. You might have noticed a small drive through with BIG food on the top of the building. That's a local chain and everyone has to try it. Don't worry if the line is loooong, you'll get out of it likety split! Breweries are big everywhere now, Downtown Johnson City and Elizabethton both have plenty and they are known for their good food too! Hopefully, looking through all the albums we have at the cottage will help you decide not only on what you want to eat, but on what you want to do. If you don't want to do anything, that's okay. There are zero indoor cameras for your privacy.

The house was very clean and well stocked. You can tell a lot of thought was put into little details! There was coffee and accessories, basic spices, saran wrap, board games, some homemade muffins, etc which made our stay that much better. The bathroom makeup station was awesome. Furniture was comfy. Peaceful neighborhood, that is also just a few minutes from Walmart, restaurants, etc. We will be back!

House was as advertised and previous reviews were accurate. Very clean which is priority 1 for me. Had everything you would need. Additionally, everything listed in the house was there. Host was extremely responsive….normally replied in minutes. We enjoyed staying in the house and walking our dogs in the neighborhood.

The place is super clean! The neighborhood is out of the way, yet conveniently located to anything you need. Quiet, peaceful and the river access at the end of the street adds to the beautiful scenery.

Clean, clean, clean!! I am very picky about cleanliness and this was by far the cleanest VRBO I have ever used. Beautiful setting. Close to the places we needed. Stocked very well. Comfy beds. TVs in bedrooms a plus! Hot shower. Plenty of bathroom space and counters. Cutest bathroom floor! Just thought of everything to make stay comfortable. Even left banana muffins- yum. Did have a little trouble getting key pad to light up so that I could put in code, but that was probably “user error.” I would totally recommend this property A+!
