Rene was absolutely the best host during our short stay. Unfortunately, we weren't able to complete the length of our stay due to a medical emergency that prompted us to leave sooner than planned but Rene was not only understanding and supportive but also made it a point to reach out after we left to ensure my daughter was doing ok. The medical emergency had nothing to do with the property or an accident. We will return once again in our future and look to once again stay in this beautiful home. Every inch of this home is gorgous. Thank you again!

This was a beautiful, clean, safe, and quiet home in a gated neighborhood in Antigua. It was about a 10 minute walk from the central city, so it was quiet but still within walking distance or a $3-5 Uber for everything we wanted to do in Antigua. Highly recommend this place!

As soon as we arrived in Antigua, Rene was there to greet us; he gave us a small tour of the house, all the information needed, and his info about who he was. He was very friendly and pleasant. The house was in neat condition and very cozy; it was precisely the description written on the internet; our idea for this vacation was only to relax and forget our daily routines, and the house was perfect for our purpose. We also discovered that Rene owned a very nice establishment where he provided transportation. We decided to go, and ultimately ended up feeling full of energy and younger, so we ended up dancing salsa after many years of not dancing. We had a wonderful vacation that ended up being too short. Would recommend staying here a million times over.

Grateful to Señor René, Señora Vilma, Señor Santiago, and Erwin for making my first visit to Guatemala a true success! My friend and I felt safe and truly cared for throughout our stay. Transportation to/from GUA was a breeze, and when we had questions regarding tours we were connected with a driver and tour guide all within reasonable price. The welcome fruit basket was a nice touch, as well as the personal tour of the beautiful property. Would stay here again! Thank you!

Rene (the owner) was extremely nice & easy to communicate with. The property is a beautiful, Spanish colonial style home, situated in a safe neighborhood. Very peaceful, picturesque surroundings. Quick & cheap Uber access made it easy to get to all of Antigua. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed my stay in this beautiful house, with a quiet atmosphere. The house is well located to walk anywhere in Antigua. Rene and his team are very kind people who are there to assist you in all your needs. This place exceeded my expectations. Thank you, Rene to you and your team for your hospitality. I can't wait to come back again.

Rene is an exceptional host. He arranged transportation for us from the airport, gave recommendations on services and things to do, provided a maid service and laundry and was there for any and all questions.
The place was perfect for our family. The pool table was such a great bonus for two teens. They each had their own room upstairs and the rooftop viewing area was great to see the surrounding mountains.
I would stay here again and again. Just outside the hustle and bustle of the main square but super close to the new fancy mall.
Thank you so much Rene. You are the perfect host.

We enjoyed our stay at Antigua Guatemala. The house exceeded our expectations. The house was clean and the area was quiet. We enjoyed our walks to the market and central park.
Mr. Rene answered all of our questions in a timely manner, Ms. Vilma was super nice, and Mr. Santiago was very punctual.
We definitely want to come back.

The house is wonderful. It is beautiful and comfortable. You have everything you need for an enjoyable stay. The host is very nice and helpful. The maid is also very kind and helpful. The neighborhood is within walking distance to most attractions. We thoroughly enjoyed celebrating New Years in Antigua while staying here.

We stayed here for a girls’ trip. Rene set us up with a driver from the airport. Everything went smoothly and we were given the keys and a tour of the place. The place was super cute and clean. The pictures just don’t do it justice. We were close to town where we walked everywhere and felt safe doing so. I’d definitely stay again.

We loved this property . It was quiet and we were able to walk to everything ! The city center was no more than a 15 min walk away. The host is amazing , he is very accommodating and the pictures do not do the please enough justice ! We greatly enjoyed sitting on the rooftop as well.

This was truly an amazing house! It was beautiful, enclosed and safe, a little area outside for kids to run around, and very solid kitchen, very spacious, living area, and bedroom, and a cool small roof area, which definitely requires caution with kids. Rene was very friendly and communicative, and I just couldn’t have been more amazed with this place.

This was our first visit to Antigua. We did. It know a lot about the area, but this house seemed perfect. We could not have had a better stay anywhere. The house is gorgeous and fully equipped with everything you need. The rooftop terrace is perfect. We walked everywhere and it was great to come back to the house and relax. It’s so quiet and peaceful. Rene is a wonderful host. Santiago picked us up from the airport and we hired him for a few more trips around the area. Highly recommend him. We really enjoyed Rene’s restaurant too. Highly suggest this property and we hope to be back one day.

If you are visiting Antigua, we highly recommend booking this amazing place. Rene was a great host and his housekeeper Vilma was awesome. We stayed here for a week, while my husband and I connected with his family. The house is beautiful and had plenty of space for us and our guests. We especially loved the rooftop deck, where we were able to get some amazing shots of Vulcan de Fuego erupting in the mornings. Being a gated community, we felt very safe. We were also within a short walking distance to markets and the bus terminal. In the evenings, we enjoyed a few rounds of billiards in the upstairs loft. We really enjoyed our trip to Antigua and appreciated having such an amazing place to retreat to at night. Again, we highly recommend staying here when visiting Antigua.

This house is the most amazing VRBO house we have ever stayed in. The host Rene is amazing. He was extremely communicative, he allowed us to check in early and it was very thorough in showing us around his amazing house. Rene had a platter of fresh local fruit and detailed instructions about the property and area when we arrived. Renee was extremely attentive and checked on us several times to make sure we were satisfied. At the end of our stay, Renee arranged for Driver to get us back to Guatemala City airport. I will always try to stay at this property when I return to Antigua.

Other reviews, as you can see, cover the property very well.
I told someone once that I was very glad to get Covid…….. at least, being in guatemala and at Rene’s property. He and Vilma make sure I had the best of care without having to leave the property. At 75, I am not sure, being somewhere else, how that would’ve gone.
Thank you again.🙏

Stayed here with 2 friends. Never been to Antigua before. Part of why it was such a great time was because of the wonderful hosting of Rene the owner of the place. Really great guy. Beautiful house. Not far from everything in town but just far enough away in you want to getway too. We still walked everywhere. It felt great!

We were thrilled with the space and amenities at this property for the price!! We were in another tiny rental in Antigua and decided to look for something else. We were SO happy. We were spoiled with so much space and breakfast and laundry and a pool table!!

Outstanding Experience . Above and Beyond our Expectations.
Rene is incredibly accommodating, helpful with recommendations and made us feel right at home. Our arrival was delayed and delayed again and Rene was there for us all the way. Vilma provided fabulous maid service and took excellent care of us and JD, the property dog.
A return trip is definitely on our agenda.

Great spot!
2 couples and one single person shared this space for 3 nights and we had a great time. It was an easy walk to town, a beautiful house that felt very safe and the furnishings in the home were beautiful. Excellent in all aspects and I hope to return again some day soon.

A Gem
Rene’s house is so special. It’s in a great part of town, has such comfort and charm and is tranquil. Everything was close by foot, Uber or tuk tuk. Rene is always accessible (by WhatsApp or in person as he lives next door), Vilma takes special care of the property and yes, JD the dog was a hit with our family!
Rene’s restaurant, Las Palmas, hosted a thanksgiving dinner which was delicious and comforting when you’re away for the holidays. We saw his band play one night and a salsa band the next. Super fun and great energy!
The rooftop patio is a treat! We would sit up there and watch Volcan Fuego erupt!
Some things not to miss when in Antigua::
-dinner we 27 Adentro
-massage/facials at Antigua Oasis
-lunch and exploring Casa Santa Domingo
-lunch at Hotel Real Camino (they also did our COVID tests!)
-morning hike to Pacaya. Unreal!
-special wares at Nativos (next to arc)
-shopping at Nim P’ot
Guatemala has stolen our hearts and we will definitely be back! Our accommodation at Rene’s place contributed to our incredible experience.

A Fabulous Stay from Start to Finish
My family and I spent 3 weeks at the property and would have happily spent another 3 weeks. The location is ideal. Close enough for easy access to all points in Antigua yet far enough from the city center to have some peace and quiet. The home itself is well appointed and decorated with local art. It was a perfect combination of modern amenities with a local vibe.
I cannot speak more highly of the owner Rene who was always available for suggestions or assistance. his housekeeper Vilma washed our clothes twice a week and even made my wife an herbal tea when she became ill during our stay (she is a nurse and grows her own herbs outside the house).
And then there was JD who quickly became my 11 year olds best friend during the trip. He is a stately 14 year old German Shepherd who guards the property and greeted us every evening on our porch and hung out with us until bedtime.
Probably the best all around experience I have had with any rental property and we are already trying to figure out how we can get back soon. Thank you Rene for creating such a welcoming home and experience. I’d give it 10 stars if they would let me.

Phenomenal
This jewel is amazing. We will definitely stay here again as the chance arises. We were welcomed with smiles, favorite coffee and fresh fruit and given everything we could need for a perfect vacation. Vilma is an amazing, friendly housekeeper. We walked to many favorite restaurants (Caledonia, Caoba Farms) after having Spanish class each day. We easily traveled by Uber, tuc tuc, and taxi as well as personal vehicles. We were 2 miles from the Finca Columbia swim pool and enjoyed the shops and restaurant there also. Los Palmas is a gorgeous restaurant with rooftop seating and live music. Rene can share more about these and other local options. We walked and enjoyed Antigua and surrounding areas. The rooftop views and seating of this vrbo is a great retreat in the sun to read and relax. We also enjoyed playing pool and listening to sports in Spanish. We felt safe with easy access to everything. We can’t say enough!

Best experience ever!
We absolutely adores staying at this property for 2 weeks. My son and the sweet doggo, JD, were instant friends. This beautiful home provided a lovely, quiet, and comfortable place for us to return to after language school each day. We had everything we needed and then some. Rene is a very helpful landlord and we feel so grateful to have found this property. We were within a 20 minutes walk of basically everything. We only took a taxi one time! Hope to return some day!

Comfortable stay in Antigua
My family was very comfortable at Rene’s place. There was plenty of room for our family of four and the accommodations were very comfortable. Rene left us fruit to begin our stay with something to eat and was available to answer any questions we had. His dog JD became a welcome pleasure as we missed our dog at home. It is a very nice home in a gated community with a helpful housekeeper, Wilma. Renee plays music at a local restaurant that he owns and provides free transportation to and from the restaurant. We very much enjoyed the restaurant and live music.

Home away from home!
We took our two children, ages 9 and 12, to Antigua for two weeks and were lucky enough to find Rene's property for our stay. Our first impressions were of safety and security, followed by the colonial architecture and cleanliness. The location is awesome - a short walk from town in a quiet residential area. Rene was a fabulous host and even introduced us to the local tennis club where my son was able to practice during our stay. Vilma, the housekeeper, is very helpful, and of course there is JD, the wonderful family German Shepherd. We absolutely loved the company of JD as we were missing our Lab from home! The house is wonderful and we are already planning our return to Antigua y la casa de Don Rene!

Best rental house in Antigua!
Rene's house is gorgeous and very well maintained. His attention to detail is quite impressive. We loved his home. He had everything we could possibly need and then some. It was clean and so authentically decorated. Rene was helpful and friendly and answered all of our questions. He promptly responded to my emails before our stay. He checked on us and asked how we were or if we needed anything. He offered suggestions when we asked him where to go or where to get something. Vilma ( the housekeeper) was friendly and always available for anything we needed. There was a driver ( Oscar) available to us which was great. We have been to Antigua 28 times and this was our best trip due to Rene's house and his hospitality. We will stay there every year from now on. I could go on and on about how perfect his home is. We are home now and just looking back at all the pictures we have of his beautiful home and wishing we were back there!
I can't forget to mention his sweet dog, JD. He is the sweetest, most gentle friendly pup there is. He became our pet for the week and spent lots of time with our family. We miss him and can't wait to see him next year. We were all sad to say goodbye to him when we left.
Thanks Rene for everything. We highly recommend your home to anyone who wants to stay in a beautiful home with a wonderful host ( and the sweetest pup ever!)
See you next year!

Family Time well enjoyed
Don Rene is an excellent host. We have 11,12,14 year old boys. Fresh water and fruits were waiting for us. If you like dogs, JD will be stand in dog. Mellow. There are house keepers available to help with things. The location was very safe, if that is even a concern in Antigua. I ran all over (5 miles and 13.1 miles). We did Pacaya at 2am start. That is the right time to see the lava at red hot. Roasting marshmallows with the kids was the cherry on top. My oldest and I did the Acatenango 2 day hike while the rest of the clan made chocolate at the Choco Museum. If you crave pizza, Romeo and Juliet was two thumbs up from my finicky eater. I hate to admit, but chicken nuggets from Camperos were quite tasty. The final night we were there, we went to Las Palmas. Dinner was delicious, however the entertainment is what made it. Don Rene even hooked us up with a good transport company that subsequently took us to Panajachel and will also return us to the airport on our last day. We did well enough with cash, but would suggest getting quetzals a plenty. Otherwise everything is rounded against you on the exchange. We were able to credit card most things.
Again, the home was great.
