We have been vacationing in the Black Hills for the past 50+ years and we were searching for place to stay centrally located to what we enjoy doing in the hills which is hiking, fishing and just enjoying the scenery, we came across Ken and Marci’s listing and thought it looked very nice , we were not disappointed their cabin is by far the cleanest most well stocked and homey place we have ever stayed in and won’t hesitate returning for another stay, Ken and Marci were the best hosts very friendly well done you guys !!!

We have traveled and stayed in many places, and this is by far the most clean we have been to. The location is perfect for all the sight seeing. And the hosts are great. We have nothing negative to say. Beds were very comfy. We stayed for 8 days, cooked a lot, and did not miss not having a stove top.

My husband and I would definitely stay here again. It is about a 10 minute drive from restaurants and grocery. The house has a great bed, plenty of space and equipment to cook, and a living room with comfy seating for several people. It is super clean and the hosts are very attentive.

The cabin worked great for our needs! We were able to cook meals easily, enjoy coffee on the patio, great shower, and comfortable beds. They included little extras like kleenex, dish soap, and small toiletries. Very convenient to Custer SP, Jewel Cave, Crazy Horse, and Rushmore.

Out of town, in the woods, lovely stars.
Beds were comfortable, living room was nice, lots of towels in the spacious bathroom.
The kitchen consisted of a sink, full-sized fridge, plates, bowls, silverware, a double burner hot plate, an electric skillet, a microwave, and a large toaster oven.
I did interact briefly with the owner, due to a mistake on my part when I booked. It was completely my fault, he tried to call me and let me know but cell reception in the Black Hills is spotty at best, so when I didn’t respond, he knocked on the cottage door. The issue was taken care of quickly.
It was nice overall.

The house was great. Very clean and comfortable. The covered patio was nice on days it rained so we could still enjoy being outside. We do a lot of cooking, and I wasn't sure if the hot plate and toaster oven would be enough. But it worked perfectly, we were able to cook anything we needed on the hot plate, electric skillet and grill. And we enjoyed fresh baked biscuits from the toaster oven. I would definitely stay here again.

This property was extremely convenient to everything we wanted to see around Custer, SD. Close drives to Wind Cave National Park, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse, and Mount Rushmore. Perfect location and for those with an Electric Car there was a Supercharger station very close by so no issues getting charged up for the days adventures. When we walked in we could tell right away that this was a very clean property! That really delighted us! We had all we needed to cook and it was stocked with essentials. We couldn't have been more happy with the property! We even cooked on the outdoor grill one night and watching the deer jump the fence every morning was great to see. Thank you for such a wonderful stay! Would recommend to anyone!

Came out to the black hills Turkey hunting with my son. We both arrived to Custer sick as heck. I drove by the cabin while scouting for the next days hunt and noticed it was unoccupied. I emailed Ken to see if I could check in early and he obliged. We were both able to get some well needed rest. The cabin itself seemed almost brand new. Everything was spotless and well stocked with essentials. Everything you would need to make a meal was available. The tv was large enough for anyone and having the Roku unit was a plus, especially for a couch ridden teen. The property is located across the street from thousands of acres of public ground and made the hunting so much better. The birdhouses on the property actually had birds living in them. One a house wren and one a bluebird. It was nice seeing new families being made. The owners live right next door but I saw neither hide nor hair of them the rest of our stay. The weather was fantastic. The beds were welcoming after a long day in the woods. Firm yet soft at the same time. I could go on all day about everything good about this place since there wasn’t anything I didn’t like.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was a great home base for seeing Custer State Park (which is surpisingly large for a state park) and Mt Rushmore. There's also a lot of National Forest land very nearby that was great for some impromptu dinner picnics. There are a few other homes scattered at a distance around the property, so you may not feel completely secluded, but we never felt like we didn't have our privacy. One minor nitpick we had was the occasional vehicle driving by while we happened to be asleep–the dirt road is a bit noisy, and we're light sleepers–but in the end it didn't really impact the quality of our stay. We really liked all of the Black Hills-themed books that were in the cabin. Looking through old photos of the places we were visiting each day and reading about various ghost towns in the area definitely helped us better appreciate all of it.
