We had a lovely break in this cottage and can highly recommend it.
We had a lovely break in this cottage and can highly recommend it. It's in a secluded area just on the outskirts of Slad village in the Cotswolds. We are gradually walking the Cotswold way and this was an in an ideal spot for us to complete some more stages. We walked to and from Stroud and Painswick as well as to the local pub which is popular and the locals were very friendly.
The cottage itself is well appointed, warm and cosy. The kitchen had everything we needed for our stay and the heating was reliable. It was not quite warm enough to sit and eat outside but there is a lovely view of the owners' garden to enjoy from the front of the cottage. Out the back is part of the Laurie Lee Way, a nature walk of around 6 miles which can be shortened if required. Although there are some 'interesting' country lanes around Slad we coped OK without an SUV style vehicle.
Beautiful part of the world and we would highly recommend it.

A perfect rural retreat in a beautiful and secluded valley.
A perfect rural retreat in a beautiful and secluded valley. There’s walking from the door, nature reserves to explore and an excellent pub a few minutes walk away. There’s also lots to do in in wider area - we visited Woodchester Park, Stroud, Painswick and the perfect Rococo Garden there. Stephanie and Peter are very welcoming and helpful. There are lots of books in the cottage - including about the long history of woollen textiles in the valleys. And of course there’s Laurie Lee and his Cider with Rosie to keep you company.......

We had a relaxing and peaceful stay in this pretty and remote cottage.
We had a relaxing and peaceful stay in this pretty and remote cottage. Everything we needed was provided in the cottage and the owners were on hand and very helpful/friendly. The TV viewing and phone/ internet access was very limiting if this is important to you and the kitchen is very small if you wish to cook, hence the lower score in some areas. Lovely surrounding area and very well placed for visiting many local towns and places of interest.

The cottage was very good and the owners Peter and Stephanie were superb.
The cottage was very good and the owners Peter and Stephanie were superb. Peter even went as far as apologising for the awful weather we had which he had no control over.
It was one of the best cottages we have stayed in with ample room, comfortable furniture and beautiful decoration.
Thank you Peter and Stephanie for sharing your cottage with us and thank you for the wine.
