About this house rental
Welcoming and spacious Craftsman style Lake Nantahala home in a gated neighborhood. Beautifully furnished and outfitted for your stay! 3 Bedrooms 2.5 Bathrooms sleeps 8 in beds with extra space for little ones. Enjoy your private, deep-water Brazilian hardwood dock with 4 kayaks, a canoe and other water toys at your disposal. Rental of a pristine Pontoon Boat also available separately. The lake is a hidden gem with stunning views sitting at 3000' elevation in Western North Carolina and encircled by beautiful mountains at elevations from 4,000 to 6,000 feet high. It is fed by pure clear mountain spring water from dozens of waterfalls surrounding the lake.
The water is incredibly clear and in some places provides over 20' of visibility. Due to the elevation, the temperature at the lake is consistently 12 degrees cooler than nearby cities like Chattanooga, Knoxville, Asheville and Atlanta.
This cozy home comes equipped with all the amenities for a comfortable stay along with all new handmade rustic mountain furniture. The granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, and granite counter tops and stone tile in the bathrooms complement the rustic but sophisticated elegance of the home's interior. The pristine water and breathtaking views make the long flight of private steps worth walking down to over 300 ft of private lake frontage. The 26' x 20' floating dock is one of the largest floating docks on the lake. The comfortable lounge chairs and Adirondack chairs make the dock an incredible space for entertaining as well as a platform for full enjoyment of all the activities the lake has to offer.
Enjoy views of the pristine island a short swim or kayak ride away and the Great Smoky Mountains in the distance. Soak up the sun on the dock or hop into the water on floats or tubes and listen to the soothing sounds of the waterfall at the end of the cove. Hop in the canoe or one of 4 kayaks and get great exercise while exploring one of the most undiscovered, pristine and beautiful lakes in America. Rent a ski boat from the local Lake's End Marina (where you can also enjoy delicious lunches and dinners) and spend some time water skiing, tubing or wake boarding.
This house is a nature lover's paradise. Surrounded by thousands of acres of protected National Forest, crystal clear streams and waterfalls which are as abundant as the wildlife which includes bald eagles, elk, rabbits, beaver and deer.
The fully equipped kitchen has all new modern appliances including a gas stove. Two bedrooms contain large king size beds and the third bedroom contains two queen beds. All beds have comfortable new mattresses with high count cotton sheets and extra pillows.

The house is beautifully appointed and has everything you need to play or relax inside or out. We rented the pontoon boat and spent hours each day on the lake cruising or tubing. The lake is like glass in the morning and we would kayak over to the islands to start our day. The 95 steps down to the dock are a work-out and should be considered if you plan on brining children or anyone with physical limitations. We actually enjoyed the exercise, but it’s a thigh/burner for sure. We enjoyed walking the gravel road as woodland trail was overgrown. We walked from Choga Road to Choga Trail (past the Choga Lodge) on the left. Walking sticks helped with hills. The owners have thought of everything and were a pleasure to work with. We ended up never leaving the property once we parked our cars. It’s easy to fill up the boat at the marina and the staff there is great. The food is good too. One of the best vacations we’ve had and we are looking forward to returning.

What a wonderful trip! It is so peaceful and beautiful! Everything you need is there! If you can - rent their boat!!!! Gorgeous evening rides around the lake with sunsets! Open the windows each day and just soak in the fresh air. We can’t wait to come back!!

My wife and I both love western NC.
This lake house has it all.
Great views of the water from the house and great
mountain views from the dock. The stars at night sitting on the dock are breathtaking as well.
We have stayed in many VBROs and none of them had as nice a kitchen as this house. Everything you could possibly need to cook for 2 or a small army was on had. The canoe and pontoon boat were both in great condition and made exploring the lake all the more enjoyable.
We tend to go to different areas when we go to NC but if we were ever to go back to Nantahala Lake again we will definitely be trying to stay here again. Last but certainly not least the host was very helpful and easy to get a hold of. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Everything about this wonderful home was accurately described. It has an awesome large lakeside dock to swim, fish & enjoy family fun! There’s plenty to do: canoe, kayak, boating & fishing, explore waterfalls, zip lining, white water rafting at NOC or nearby, take a day to shop in Bryson and more!
This home has everything you can possibly think of to make your stay more enjoyable. We prepared great dinners on the grill and the kitchen is very well equipped.
Book today! You will not be disappointed!

Stayed for 4 nights with 3 teenage girls - it was perfect! House had everything we needed for a great time - it was amazing to have all the kayaks, canoe, lifejackets etc. on hand for paddling around the lake. Amazing dock, loved using the pontoon boat, kitchen was well-stocked and we had a great time. Will definitely visit again!

The lake house was a breath of fresh air that we all needed. It’s beauty of the lake was like looking at a little piece of heaven. We spent everyday out on the dock enjoying all of the amenities that the house came with. The property managers were very detailed with house instructions. The house was stocked with everything you needed. It was nice to not have to pack all of the little stuff. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it.

This is our second stay at this particular house and our 5th stay at Lake Nantahala. We had no problems and everything is set up perfectly. The only thing you need to bring is beach towels but the setup for everything else is really nice, especially in the kitchen. I would definitely stay here a third time! The private dock is a nice size and we hung out there for hours every day. It is stocked with four kayaks which we used. We also got the optional pontoon boat rental for the second time. The boat is slow but you can't beat the price. We rented a speed boat from the marina for 4 days as well because the kids just want to go tubing and that isn't possible with the pontoon boat (but I still like using it for looking around and just relaxing). We found all the little waterfalls, got caught in an intense rain storm, and saw a deer. No luck fishing this year, although normally we catch a few. I can't wait to plan my next trip!

Outstanding
Home was in immaculate condition with plenty of room for our family of 5 adults and 2 children. Beds were very comfortable and plush. Huge floating dock with all the amenities to enjoy the lake (You should be physically fit to navigate the many stair steps to the dock).
This was our first visit to Lake Nantahala and it didn’t disappoint. You must rent the Buckley’s pontoon boat and enjoy the clear emerald colored water and beautiful Mountain View’s surrounding the lake.
Owners were responsive to our questions and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommended this property.

Nantahala vacation
The property was as described. Had a couple of hiccups at the beginning of our stay, but Laurie was quick to respond and went above and beyond to make sure that we were taken care of. I definitely suggest bringing a boat or renting the one that is available with the cabin. Plenty of quiet coves to explore with both the boat or kayaks. Make sure to have a meal or two at Lakes End at the marina. Great selection and good food. Take the boat to get there the quickest. Will likely rent again in the future. This was our first time to Nantahala and will not be our last.

Perfection
This place is gorgeous and in an equally gorgeous setting. The property owner is responsive, very detailed and helpful. We enjoyed our stay so much we didn’t want to leave. We had a very brief rain shower while there but otherwise the weather was perfect. They are well stocked and seemingly have thought of everything you might need “just in case” for this trip. The lake was beautiful and very relaxing. We can’t say enough good things about this place!

The perfect escape!
I cannot say enough good things about this lake house or it’s owners. Everything is perfect! It was by far the most well-appointed VRBO we have ever stayed in. We love to cook and a well-stocked kitchen is priceless for us. We found everything we needed and then some here. Plenty of pots, pans, cutting boards, dishes, glasses, serving dishes, utensils, etc. plus so many extras like a full spice cabinet, a utility drawer with plenty of scissors, flashlights, pens, paper, tools, etc. The home was immaculate and well-cared for. The upstairs king bed so comfortable. The location is remote - just as we had hoped - and the dock and lake are heavenly. Clean, quiet, peaceful. The canoe and kayaks were appreciated. Plenty of deck furniture. I will say that there are 110-112 steep steps to the lake/deck. We are in good physical shape and it was a workout. Slow & steady wins the race (take short breaks on the landings). Laurie’s very detailed instructions cover every question or need you could have. She was a joy to work with. We look forward to visiting again.

Beautiful house!
Our family and another couple (total 7 people) just came back from a week stay. It was so relaxing! The house is beautiful! It is conveniently located by the lake. We had our own private dock where we parked our rental boat there so it was easy every morning to just go down to the dock and get in the boat. In the afternoon and evening, we would sit on the dock to relax or fish. The house had plenty of room for everyone. We would definitely stay there again!

Lake is beautiful House is clean and well stocked with lake toys
Our family of 5 plus 2 additional teens loved the house and dock! Parked a Prius and Highlander on gravel driveway. Prius was fine crossing the creek. HOUSE- Beautiful and larger than photos show. Mattresses are super comfortable, kitchen is well stocked with every utensil or spice needed. We enjoyed cooking in this kitchen. We brought our own paper towels Outside decks have plenty of extra seating areas. 2 indoor eating area are perfect, we used the round table as the other table was for puzzles. living room pull out couch is very comfortable for 2 teens.. Rooms are large. Washer dryer brand new and easy to use. Living room has many comfy lounge chairs and 2 couches. Great water pressure and there was always enough Hot water. Beautiful bathrooms with garden rub in MB. Enjoyed watching DVDs and doing puzzles. OUTDOOR firepit- has 3 Adirondack chairs and we used their camp chairs for more seating. LAKE- lake is majestic and not crowded. Clear green water. Spent Many hours hanging out on dock. Jumping into lake and floating around the cove. the pontoon boat is a must have! Pulled teens on Big Mable and went to marina for dinner twice. Great big hamburgers are the best and their sweet potato fries are good. Had pizza delivered to dock on our last night. Used Canoe a lot! Teen son loved kayaking . Activities- whitewater rafting at Nantahala Outdoor center excellent - we did guided half day in the afternoon and it was perfect. Gem Mining at Nantahala gem mine was our favorite! Loved the sifting and finding gems. Shopping- Andrews is small but we enjoyed the few antique thrift stores there and found some fun items. Andrews grocery store - Ingles is smaller than Murphy NC but is only a 15-20 min drive and compares to a Winn Dixie in Florida. Walgreens also in Andrews. Stairs to dock you will get used to it! Great workout. Thank you for sharing your beautiful lake house! We left/donated a Harry Potter DVD in order to complete your collection… as 1 was missing. enjoy !

Fall Break
The property was clean and in top shape. As pictured but felt a little larger. We visited in late fall and it was a nice quiet stay. We also opted for the pontoon which made things a lot easier than if renting from a marina.

Beautiful home on secluded lake
We stayed here in early October and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Renting the boat is an absolute must. We considered not doing so, as it was supposed to be cold the weekend of our visit, but we are so glad we did. Even with the cold temps, we bundled up, brought blankets, and enjoyed cruising around the lake. We had the lake to ourselves! The home itself is impeccably clean, which we appreciated during COVID, and the owners were easy to work with.
Please be aware that as you approach the home in your vehicle, you have to cross a stream that runs across a dirt road. We had considered driving our van, but thankfully we drove our SUV instead.

Peaceful solitude
Everything we were looking for during this pandemic. Very clean and comfortable living space. Solitude, very few people in the area, it seemed we had the lake to ourselves. We ate all our meals at the house and the kitchen was as fully equiped as you could possible want. The dock was a great space to read and enjoy the surroundings. Peace and quiet, just absolutely perfect. Everyone wants to return as soon as possible.

We had a great time while here! The house and lake were both beautiful. I can't decide which was best-being in the house, on the dock or on the lake! Being there was so peaceful and relaxing. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful home, amazing dock, breathtaking views!
This home is spectacular and offers everything you need for a great vacation! Beautifully decorated, extremely clean and the well equipped kitchen made cooking a pleasure! Our family had the most amazing, relaxing stay and enjoyed the wonderful views of the lake from the large decks as well as the spacious dock. We took full advantage of the beauty Nantahala offers by spending many hours kayaking and canoeing around the lake. The workout space and weights were an awesome bonus too! We can’t wait to return! Thank you so much for sharing your extraordinary home with us!

Even more beautiful in real life!
The pictures do not do it justice! This place is amazing! Perfect house for family or friend vacation with private lake access, (just be prepared get a little work out with the stairs), equiped with everything you could possibly need. There's everything from seasonings to Tylenol to sunblock in the kitchen, you really only need to bring food. So thoughtful the extra little touches everywhere! My son and I had a blast swimming off the dock and taking the boat out. You can open the window at night and hear the mountain noise, it's better than a sleep app! We came home refreshed and would go back in a heartbeat! Thanks again for everything!

We enjoyed our stay at this wonderful property! The home is extremely clean and well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed all the water toys and we rented a ski boat from the nearby marina. On the lake and off the grid!
Stunning home on a beautiful lake that had EVERYTHING we needed. We brought in our own food but everything else, including spices and condiments, was provided. We only left to eat out at the marina once (which does not serve alcohol, by the way, since it is in a dry county). Even laundry detergent and dryer sheets are provided. Wifi is VERY limited and basically only available to Verizon customers who want to use in limited amounts to check emails. NO cell phone service unless your phone is set to make Wifi calls. There is a house phone that is available. We thoroughly enjoyed being off the grid for a change and enjoyed time with family. There are movies and a few games available. Also really enjoyed the huge dock, kayaks and rented pontoon boat. I wish the lake were larger so we could have explored more in the boat. The 101 steps from the dock are no joke! You are in the mountains after all. Laurie was a pleasure to communicate with- was quick to respond and was very helpful. Would definitely stay here again if remote location was desired.

Tranquil Retreat
Our family took our first trip to NC and we were blown away by the beauty. What accentuated our vacation was the amazing property we stayed in. The home is perfect with a great kitchen full of everything you’d ever need, an extra ice maker and plenty of seating options. The family room and movie collection was a relaxing way to end the night. The bedrooms and bathrooms are all in great condition and the master shower is unforgettable. The owners have stocked the lake water toys and let you use whatever you’d like which is nice. We chose to rent the pontoon and were so glad we did as we could tour the scenic lake and relax on a sunset cruise. We took full advantage of the dock all day every day - it’s huge and well maintained. The kayaks and canoes and water floats added opportunities to see every bit of the lake and surrounding shorelines. The climb to and from the house to the dock is as advertised but it’s good exercise. We loved it and would love to come back and enjoy this beautiful home again.

Stunning Property and Breathtaking Lake
This lakehouse is absolutely stunning! The trip up the mountainside was beautiful, but a little nerve wracking for us flatlanders who are used to the straight lines and not so many curves in the road. However, once you arrive, it is well worth the trip. There is plenty of room to relax and the furnishing are beautiful and comfortable. It is like home away from home. Loved the under the counter ice machine too! The lake is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places you could ever ask to be. The water looks emerald green but is crystal clear when you are in it. It is amazing! We were expecting the lake to be crowded and how pleasantly surprised we were to find out we were wrong! The lakehouse has all that you need to have a wonderful vacation! We went to town to get supplies and food, which happened to take 40 minutes one way, but once we were stocked up and had returned, we did not leave again until our day of departure. This is what rest and relaxation is meant to be. We also rented the pontoon boat and that was a wonderful decision. We had so much fun exploring the lake each day. It was great to fish and also to just cruise around and look at the beautiful homes surrounding the lake. The marina was really handy to have so close and their staff was super nice and helpful! We would highly recommend renting the entire package...the house and the pontoon boat! So much fun! We also enjoyed the kayaks and the tubes, especially Big Mabel!😊 The view from the boat dock was beautiful...so relaxing just sitting there also. We have already discussed when we are planning a return visit! We really appreciate the Buckley's willingness to share their beautiful home and boat. Our family definitely made some wonderful memories! If you are looking for some rest and relaxation, quality family time, and making some wonderful memories, we would highly recommend this beautiful lakehouse and lake to you!

Peaceful spot on the lake, comfortable family house
Our family of six plus grandbaby spent four days celebrating my husband's 70th birthday at this sweet spot on Nantahala Lake. The house is spacious and has very comfortable seating in the open plan living area for everyone to gather for meals, share kitchen duties, and hang out together. Down the steps, the best part awaits--the dock with its roomy loungers and chairs, and space for the whole family to relax, swim off the dock, or take one of the three kayaks out for a paddle. There are floating tubes and noodles in the basement also, which we put to good use lazing in the water by the dock. We arranged with the owners to rent their pontoon boat during our stay, and it is basically a new boat with very comfortable seating. With the boat docked, we had extra seating and built-in shade under its canopy for the baby and anyone wanting a sun break. Daily cruises were a highlight and it was fun to see different areas of the lake. This house is located in a really prime spot, as it is a no-wake zone in a lovely cove end of the lake. We enjoyed using the gas grill on the deck to cook the birthday dinner, and the owners provided a welcome basket for making s'mores that included a 7 & 0 birthday candles. We had rain each night, so no campfire in the firepit near the dock, but were glad the rain came late afternoon and nights so we had sunny days. Bedrooms are well outfitted and beds and linens are very good quality and super comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need to do all your cooking, and we did bring in everything we needed, as the area is in Nantahala National Forest, so no stores close by---which we knew. However, you can eat out at the marina on the lake if you choose not to pack in all your food. We enjoy cooking as a family, so we didn't visit the marina. There is no cell service in the area, but the Wi-Fi is good, and we were able to use Wi-Fi calling with our Verizon service (AT&T won't work here.) Laurie and Tom, the owners, were wonderful to deal with in planning our trip, and they provided prompt and clear communication throughout our stay. They truly consider the needs of their guests and have done a lot to make their lake house a wonderful place for guests to enjoy.

Beautiful, enjoyable, perfect in every way!
I had a mini getaway here for my husband's birthday. We were here with two other couples and everyone was amazed at the location, the scenery, the home, and the lake. The home is spectacular! You'll instantly feel at peace here and ready to relax. At night when not on the lake, trust me, you'll want to lounge on the cabin-inspired couch. We'd fight over that seat on game nights!
The lake... wow. Crystal clear. I understand why this lake is rated as one of the top lakes in the USA. It's amazing! There's a marina not far from the house where you can rent power boats. We spent hours exploring the lake and swimming... and would have loved to have spent more! The boat rental isn't expensive, especially compared to other lakes. And, we had just as much fun and just as much beauty hanging out on the dock and in floats right off the dock. Their dock is beautiful and seemed brand new. The view from it is gorgeous and we had so much fun just hanging out with friends on it.
I can't recommend this home enough and I can't wait for an opportunity to come back. We would definitely rent this home again!
