About this house rental
The home is secluded and warm but with all the modern amenities. It sits in the middle of four wooded acres, with no other house in sight, but is only 1.8 miles from the center of the town of Woodstock. I bought it in the summer of 2013 and have enjoyed many relaxing weekends away from NYC.
The original interior is full of warm, knotty pine walls, hardwood floors, and a wood-burning fireplace. In the fall of 2013, I converted an adjoining artist studio to a Great Room. It now has cathedral pine ceilings, wood beams, and light pine floors. It also houses a down-filled Room & Board sofa and chaise, a ping-pong table, a gas woodstove, and a 55' television with cable TV.
The home has two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a washer and dryer. The Master bedroom features knotty pine cathedral ceilings, Russell Wright furnishings, a quality king mattress, and its own private second-floor deck. The second bedroom also features cathedral ceilings, painted knotty pine walls and ceiling, a Queen Bed, and a day-bed that can be converted to a king. The bed mattresses are all high-quality and very comfortable.
The kitchen has it all: gas stove, large refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, and all the cooking tools, pots and pans, and dishes you could need. The kitchen leads to a serene screened-in back porch that looks onto the blue stone patio and off into the woods.
The front yard is beautifully landscaped with blue stone walkways and steps. About 100 yards to the side of the house -- still on the property -- is a mountain stream.
The home is permitted by the Town of Woodstock for short-term rentals. The registration number of the house for the Town is 21N-132.

Place was perfect for what we needed. The lockbox was not easy to find and was not well lit. We arrived after dark and minimal amount of lighting was provided. Fee of $125 for Vrbo is ridiculously high. Cleaning fee for that area is also high. Our office gets cleaned where I work and she cleans 3 hours for $100. All they have to do is change the sheets and wiped down a bathroom.

Really wonderful location; the first thing we ntoiced was how quiet and secluded the house was, yet we were only a 5 minute car drive from the center of Woodstock. Couldn't be better.
The house is large, though a bit old, but the owner was very amenable and responsive to all our requests.

Great rustic home in a very secluded setting in the mountains above Woodstock. 6 minutes to eclectic popular town of Woodstock with shops and great restaurants and bars. We enjoyed the screened in porch and some ping pong. The AC units are not in bedrooms so it could get a little warm in hotter weather, but we were mostly comfortable since it was cool for July and the house is nicely shaded.

My husband and I returned to this property after a magical stay a few years ago. We are happy to report it has been beautifully maintained and is as special as ever. While the weather did not cooperate with us, we felt so lucky to be rained/snowed in with a house that has so much charm and comfort to offer. We cooked great meals in the well-stocked kitchen, took advantage of the fireplace and hot tub, and broke our record for longest sustained volley on the ping pong table. We found our favorite spots for reading and playing games in the dreamy great room. We enjoyed a couple of restaurants and shopping in town (wonderful to be so close). While weather got in the way of our hiking plans, we took a terrific day trip to the FDR site in Hyde Park less than an hour away. We’d come back again, it’s so lovely!

My husband and I rented this house for our anniversary vacation this October. We wanted to peaceful and private mountain getaway and that is exactly what we had in this comfortable and cozy home. Everything was immaculately clean and extremely comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. The fireplace in the living room was fantastic on a couple of chilly rainy nights. My husband enjoy the screened in porch and the hot tub just outside the porch. Sitting in the living room looking out the big picture window gave you the feeling of being in a treehouse, seeing the tree top in the distance and watching the leaves fall, it was absolute heaven. The owner David was easy to communicate with. I would definitely recommend this house for a lovely mountain getaway. Great for a couple or small family.

My wife and I stayed here for a week long vacation and we absolutely loved it! Beautiful location with wildlife all around. There was actually some wild turkeys on the front porch when we first arrived! The house was exactly how it is described and pictured. We particularly enjoyed the screened in porch on a few rainy mornings. We did have some communication with David while we were there since the one morning I woke up to a dripping kitchen ceiling. But David was very responsive and accommodating to the issue. And He ensured we still had a wonderful, relaxing stay! I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a rejuvenating vacation getaway in the majestic Catskill Mountains.

My husband and I hosted my parents in this cabin for a long weekend and we all had a wonderful stay. The house is perfectly appointed and even nicer than it appears in the pictures. The gorgeous screen porch where we could sit and hear the babbling brook was an especially pleasant surprise. The wood fireplace, gas fireplace, and hot tub were especially lovely when the autumn nights turned chilly. The kitchen was perfect for cooking and enjoying meals together. The property is a nature lover’s paradise: we heard barred owls outside the bedroom windows and glimpsed a duo of turkeys roosting in the trees high above the hot tub. The host was gracious, communicative, and easy to reach about everything. Highly recommended.

We had a great stay in Woodstock. The house was comfortable enough for us to spread out, enjoy the setting, the pair of deer who greeted us on our first day, and more. We had to reach out to Dave a few times for a couple of minor issues that were fixed immediately. We wouldn't hesitate to rent this house again. We had a great vacation.

We've stayed at the property at least 6 times with growing family and it still has the magic it held the first time we visited. The owner keeps the place pristine and is a pleasure to work with. Can't wait to come back!

My family just returned from our 2nd week-long stay in this delightful property. Location is perfect, just a few miles outside the village but nestled in the woods on the mountain-side. The forest preserve just down the hill (short walk) is an old quarry that offers views almost as amazing as Overlook mountain for a lot less effort and zero crowds! Cabin is very cozy and comfortable. Just lovely!

This is the third time we’ve rented the house and we look forward to it every year. It’s not far from town, yet far enough you feel secluded. We saw some deer this year. The place is stocked with towels and linens. We love to make memories there and can’t wait to go back!

We have been to the property before. Does not disappoint. This time we got to use the hot tub. It was cold the first couple nights - - so the fireplace got a lot of use.

Had a great time with my family for my 40th. A cozy cabin so close to town! Loved it. Had fires every night and even hopped in the hot tub one night!
My only suggestion would be some bistro lights out back. :)

Sister's reunion
We had a wonderful time 💖. It was quiet, comfortable, relaxing. I would certainly rent again. The air conditioner was a life saver because the temperature was in the 90's👏. David was very helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had.

Beautiful spot in the woods
This beautiful spot is indeed tranquil! It is close to town and yet the house is surrounded by trees and a small creek runs just below. David was very responsive and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. There were a few things that needed repair (two broken door knobs, a window that would not latch, and the upstairs toilet was running), but nothing that interfered with our stay. Soo peaceful!

We always love our stay at David's home in Woodstock! We try and visit every year. It is in a great location, with the perfect cozy feel - right down the road from the heart of Woodstock. Highly recommended for a weekend away!

Comfortable, secluded stay
This was a beautiful property. The check in process was really smooth, and though it is only a few minutes from town, when you’re here you feel very secluded, which was exactly the balance I was looking for. One thing to note is that for larger/taller individuals, the fixtures and vanities may seem small, and the second floor shower is a bit on the tight end. But that said, this was a wonderful spot.

Great place for a Weekend getaway!
Everything is as shown in listing. Would definitely rent again.
