About this house rental
If you're traveling in a larger group and want to visit the true Bahamas, to see its true beauty, our villa is the prime destination. It's rare that you find a house so impeccably maintained, it's even rarer that the house in question has easy access to and panoramic views of the ocean and the ocean banks and can host a big family or a large group of people while keeping rental prices really competitive. Such is the newly built (2012) Black Point Ocean Villa. There's a lot to like about it. The house itself is built to the latest standards, is very clean and neat with a lot of space and comfortable modern amenities at your service. Step outside and you'll see a porch that offers amazing views of the deep blue ocean to the east and the bright shallow azure waters to the west where you can watch the sun rise and set in the water - a truly marvelous experience that you won't find in a hotel. Relax and sunbathe on a private beach just a few steps away with a gazebo where the water is shallow and safe. Or go the ocean side beach for magnificent views of the waves. And it's only the beginning - you're welcome to explore the nearby quiet and welcoming settlement of Black Point where you'll find a nice restaurant, a bar and a cafe and a few stores, go sunfish sailing, rent a boat with a guide to see all the beauty the Exumas have to offer, go fishing or jet skiing, kayaking or shelling, have a picnic on an uninhabited island - the world is yours to explore and we certainly will help. So whether you want to be active and do everything or maybe instead need the world to be quiet and relax completely from the noise and the fast pace of the big cities - it's all there. We heartily welcome you to our villa and the Bahamas.

House was newer than some we rented while island hopping at the end of a beautiful bay. We loved it!

The Property was clean, with basically everything we needed for our stay, the view was amazing from the back patio. Our host was very responsive and although he was not on the island at the time. He ensured that someone came by to check on us. Also if you need a golf cart for transportation, there is one available to rent that is also on property.

Very Good 3 B/R property with magnificent views of the ocean and Bay . A good organization of the kitchen would help the guests who plan to cook and prepare most of the meals. Bringing fresh food into the Bahamas is limited as are the small stores in Blackpoint so a food order from Nassau in line with your arrival could help.

Black Point is a gem. The house is situated on a narrow strip between the Atlantic and the Black Point bay area. On one wrap around deck you can watch the crystal blue waters of the inlet go in and out with the tide exposing about 300 yards of white sand, or sip coffee and watch the sunrise over the crashing waves of the Atlantic. (pro tip - take the short hike up the hill to the right for sunrise). Black point is for the visitors that like a little more off the beaten path. If you want snobs and fancy boat traffic, stay at Staniel Cay. Just realize where you are - on a beautiful remote island where everything must be boated or flown in. There are no home depots around every corner, and the environment can be harsh (think salt spray and hurricanes). We did have a few small issues but they were fixed within a few hours by Henry and Santo who were great and very responsive to all questions. Bring your groceries and your desire to explore! Rent a golf cart to zip around and explore the island. Makes zipping into town easy. Rent a boat to explore the surrounding islands is a must.

Beautiful, convenient, accommodating, seamless communication
Everything was as described online. We arrived by sailboat and anchored in the harbor. Was able to dinghy to dock located down the road; a mere five minute walk to house. Henry coordinated a golf cart for our crew to explore the island. Loved seeing the nearby blow hole. Enjoyed a night out at Emeralds Sunset. Would recommend travelers remember mosquito repellent and citronella candles as is necessary for tropical environments.

Family Holiday
This is the place to stay, breathtaking views of the ocean both in front of the home and on the back deck. The property was as advertised, very clean, quiet and supplied enough kitchen ware to make almost any meal. Do make sure to get groceries before coming for your stay on Black Point as you are very limited on food items from the local store. We traveled with our two boys, 3 and 7 and they had a blast on the beach, especially during low tide, they were able to walk several yards out to the sandbar.
Overall we had a great time from beginning to end. I'd suggest a boat tour with a guide, dive tour, or just a day or 4 on the boat which can be arranged by Bread Boy and his crew. These guys were all solid and know thier way around the islands extremely well. My only con was that there is no access to cash so make sure to bring plenty. This was our 2nd time to the Exumas and we hope to enjoy many more Holidays to come.

An amazing stay in Black Point
This villa by far had the best view of the bay/boats/Black Point on one side and the rougher open ocean on the other. While some maintenance could be done to improve the overall property, the villa was very clean and well supplied with linens, towels and most kitchen essentials. Ample hot water supply for the 6 of us that stayed and all the essential appliances were provided. Marco and Santoe were a great help with getting some provisions and fixing small concerns as they arose.
Overall a great spot for a relaxing vacation.

Very happy with my stay at Henry's house. Very clean, friendly staff and breathtaking views!
Marco was at the airport to pick us up. Brought us to the house and it was a great start to a week. Very clean home with plenty of clean towels and everything in the kitchen to cook. 5 gallon water jug and cooler provided which was great too. Nice walkway down to the beach with 2 tikis and chairs. Breathtaking views from the huge balcony where I actually proposed to my future wife. Black Point is a special place with the most friendly people I have ever met. I try to make it ever year because of how refreshing it is. I highly recommend visiting Black Point and the exuma islands!

Trip of a life time
We stayed at Henry's Villa and words and pictures cannot do justice to the experiences we had and the views we enjoyed. The house was perfect and the caretaker, Santos, could not have been nicer or more helpful. We used the golf cart to explore the island and found a wonderful beach that we went to at some point most days. We used the boat to explore and find other beaches that we seemed to always have just to ourselves. On behalf of my wife and son I want to thank you for a fantastic trip of a lifetime. We fed the Iguanas, swam and fed the pigs, swimmer with the nurse sharks and enjoyed fresh Conch salad on the sand bar before snorkeling Thunderball Grotto!!!! AMAZING. We would also like to thank Santos for checking on us daily and making sure we were all good everyday. And a HUGE thank you to the people of Black Point for the friendly hospitality, the conversation, always willing to help and he laughs. Oh, and thank you to Lorraines for the "adult Capri sun" rum punches.
Highly recommended and we look forward to a return trip in the near future.
Sincerely
Jeff, Dawn and Griffin Jurkovich

Beautiful location with easy access to all sites
The home was perfect for our family. Easy stroll to the ocean on both sides of the island. Rent a boat to visit all the sites nearby. We grilled the fish we caught for dinner one night.

Christmas in Black Point
My family spent ten days over Christmas in Henry's home. The house was perfectly suited for the five of us - two adults and three teenagers. The view was breathtaking off the deck. I loved that we had direct access to two very different beaches - calm and serene vs. strong crashing waves of energy. We rented the boat and the golf cart for the whole time we were there and made great use of them everyday. Henry stocked our fridge and kitchen with the groceries we ordered ahead of time. The items we ran out of we picked up in the stores in Black Point or on Staniel Cay. (Being Christmas time, many people were away for their holidays so it was tricky to find when the stores in Black Point were open, but the locals made efforts to get us what we needed each time we asked!)
We spent our days travelling amongst all the islands and yachts finding beaches to stop and picnic on. We stopped to visit the pigs and iguanas and spent lots of time snorkelling - especially at the sand bar.
We ate our fill of fresh bread made by Lorraine's mom, ate at Lorraine's and DeShamon's restaurants as well as Staniel Cay when we stopped to fuel up the boat.
Each day we went down to the dock, Magic (or Marco) had prepped our boat and had everything ready to go.
It was one of our favourite family holidays and everyone came home with many adventures to share! We send a big thank you to Henry and all the locals that went out of their way to provide us with a fabulous holiday.

A Little Disappointed
We arrived last Saturday (3/26) and the house appeared to be just like the pictures with the exception of the laundry. It does have laundry, but it is in a separate building and shared with the duplex Henry owns next door. Not a big deal, but should be in description - it had an electric shock when touched so we didn't use it. Saturday night we lost power at the house and I called Santo. He came right away w/ electrician and after temp fix that night, we lost power again Sunday morn. early. No power, phone and no charge for golf cart. We left early Mon. expecting to have power when we returned. No power at 4:00 when we returned. Finally after several attempts, electrician was able to get us power around 7:00. We lost all the groceries we paid Henry to purchase and stock. He did offer to replace them, but after smelling the spoiled food, all we wanted was the milk for my kids cereal, etc. Later in the week the golf cart wouldn't charge and we had no phone service.
The beach and ocean are amazing! I've been all over Caribbean and Hawaii and this is by far the most beautiful water I've seen. Renting a boat is must. Not only was the boat fun, we were able to meet the owner of boat rental service Bread Boy. Such a great and friendly guy! Explained the area and got us a guide for 1/2 day to show us around. Magic was awesome also. Took his time showing us around and made sure we would not get lost. Saw him everyday and he always made the point to talk to all of us. You have to meet Bread Boy because you will literally see him everywhere. Bread Boy was so nice, he offered to give us a 2 bedroom unit for free Monday night if we didn't have power!!! Ran ( a local guide) took my son(15) and myself fishing. Another good time and exceptional young man. Helped for a wonderful experience and even used his own vegetables to make my family a fresh conch salad when we returned.
People, KIDS, boat and outdoor adventure is great. Don't go expecting resort atmosphere and make sure you have groceries. Dining is an issue at restaurants but manageable.
Many thanks to Santo for all the work and even going out of his way to see us at Staniel.
My kids 15 and 13 are already looking for pictures of the awesome kids they met at the dock and basketball court.

Beautiful views!
We really enjoyed our stay! The house was perfect for us and our family. Marco helped us with the boat and everything! The views from the front and back porches were priceless. Nice ocean breezes and water was drinkable. Island is so quiet and peaceful! Taking the boat to go snorkeling and to find private beaches to hang out on was our favorite part. We are already talking about when we can go back!

What a great family vacation!
Our family used all 7 bedrooms of both villas and the location between the rough Atlantic and
calm Caribbean was perfect, especially for our 2 and 4 year old children who could safely enjoy the shallow
calm waters of the Caribbean. Being able to experience the beautiful sunrises and sunsets from our
villas was amazing.
We spent a whole day with Marco as our boat guide checking out the iguanas, swimming pigs,
sharks at Compass Cay, lunch at Staniel Cay Yacht Club, amazing sand bar at Twin Cays,
and snorkeling at Thunderball Grotto. Renting a boat to see the other Exuma cays is a must.
Henry was a wonderful host and Marco, his caretaker, promptly responded to our needs or any issues that
came up. Note that the phone and internet service is not reliable, but so what, we were on vacation.
Highly recommend that you arrange to have your food and supplies purchased on Nassau by Henry, who then
ships them by airplane at a very reasonable price and has them delivered to your villa for your arrival.
Black Point is a small quiet island with very friendly people and not much to do except enjoy the
natural beauty and peacefulness. Being able to travel around the island in golf carts was loads of fun.
You will not believe the many shades of blues and greens the waters
of the Exumas offer...simply spectacular!
Make sure you spend a day at the gorgeous beach at Great Guana Cay on the southern end of the island...we
spent 2 days there and had the whole beach to ourselves.
Marco rocks!

Best family vacation ever!
We started our search looking for a place for my sons to spear fish. It was my 14 year olds dream to spear fish in beautiful clear water. We found Henry's house and decided to rent it for spring break 2015. My husband and 2 of our sons, ages 14 and 16 were ready to learn. Henry helped us every step of the way to prepare for our trip. He had our spears and snorkeling gear waiting for us when we arrived and we spoke many times before the trip. I had never done vrbo outside of the US and had no idea on the logistics of getting there. He told me to get to Nassau and he would take care of the rest and boy did he take care of us. Henry picked us up at the main airport in Nassau, took us to the grocery store, liquor store, we stopped for lunch, then to the private airport. He had a pilot take us from Nassau to Black Point in a small Cherokee 6. We left the island on Flamingo Air. Both were easy and affordable. Santos picked us up at Black Point and took us to the house. The house was perfect for our family of 4. The kitchen had everything we needed. We were able to watch the NCAA Tournament in the evenings. We had internet and a phone to use if we needed to call the States. The views were amazing. I watched the sunrise on the front deck every morning with my coffee and drank wine on the back deck as the sun set over the bay with the sailboats.
We rented Henry's Boston Whaler for the week and a guide (Ralph & Marko). Ralph took us out the first 2 days and taught us how to spear fish. We caught lobster, grouper, snapper, and many other fish. Marko took us out the next 4 days as we snorkeled, spear fished, and visited all the sights - The Grotto, the swimming hogs, the iguanas, the Land and Sea Park, Compass Cay, Staniel Cay. Compass Cay has the most beautiful beach a short walk from the dock. We ordered hamburgers and hot dogs there, too. Staniel Cay has a nice lunch restaurant, The Yacht Club, and a nice grocery store that had lots of fresh fruit and veggies that had just arrived.
In Black Point, we ate 3 nights at Deshamons and hung out with the locals in the bar there. We ate at Lorraines 1 night. We bought ice cream and some staples at Adderly's grocery, though I would stop in Nassau to get most groceries.
Henry also owns the duplex next door if you need to rent additional space or see more reviews about how wonderful Henry & his place is. That vrbo number is 298921.
This is by far our best family vacation ever! We miss Marko!

Paradise!
One of the most beautiful places on earth! My husband and I have both been to different spots in the Caribbean and none of them come close to this place. The pictures do not do it justice. Henry's house sits on the most amazing bay (I don't really know what to call it) I have ever seen. At high tide it's a gigantic wading pool that feels like a spa. We brought floats and would relax in our giant "spa" for hours on end, admiring the beauty around us. We never got used to the view. Every morning my husband and I would wake up, look out of our bedroom door, and then at each other with a "Is this place for real?" look on our faces. It is breathtaking.
The house itself is immaculate as well. We stayed our first night in the Bahamas at a big resort in Nassau. Henry's place made the resort look like a dump. Henry did an excellent job with the finishes and decorations in the house. Everything we needed was already there and the house was impeccably clean.
Even though Henry was in Nassau for our stay, he was a wonderful host. He called every day to check in, and if we needed anything he would put us in touch with his assistant Santos, or his son, who were both on the island. Everyone bent over backwards to help us. Henry was also great about answering any questions we had in the planing stages of our vacation.
We rented a boat from Henry for the entire week we were there, something I would highly recommend. There is so much to see at the neighboring cays. We visited the iguanas, fed and swam with the pigs, swam with the sharks, went to the Land and Sea Park (what has to be some of the best snorkeling in the world), snorkeled at a sunken drug plane, held starfish, and visited a breathtaking sand bar. We had a guide take us out on the boat three days we were there, something I would also highly recommend. We tried to take the boat out ourselves one day, but the water is so clear it really messed with our depth perception. We couldn't tell if we were in water three feet deep or fifteen feet deep. It's the craziest thing I've ever seen. The guides will teach you how to "read the water" and also the best route to take through the cays.
In summary, this was by far the best vacation ever! I've wanted to visit places in the South Pacific for the longest time, but no more. I can't imagine them being anymore beautiful than the Exumas. Not to mention there is so much to do and see! I think I could've stayed a year and not seen everything the Exumas have to offer!

Taking a break from the big city
This is the second time we have stayed in Black Point at Henry's and loved it!! We love his new house and the porch overlooking the Carribean is perfect. Aside from the standard amenities (i.e stove) the house comes with the golf cart, has a phone line in the bedroom to call back to the states., Wifi, a wasther/dryer, grill and kayak. Our little toddler (21 months old) loved the house and enjoyed running around the porch. What sets the Exumas apart from Nassau is that the Exumas are very safe, everyone is super friendly the customs stop was only 20 minutes long and there is so much to see in the Exumas. We flew via Watermakers (which we love) , Raymond "Bread Boy" picked us up at Staniel to take us over to Black Point (10 minute boat ride) and then we used Rayomond for two half days to show us around the Exumas. The Carribbean ocean in this area is very safe and shallow for little ones. We brought a floatie with a cover for our little one and she had a good time relaxing in the water!! We did bring food with us and picked up some extra snacks, ice cream and sodas at Adderly's. Everyone is so nice on the island and so accomadating. Every body knows everybody on the island and it was so nice to get away from the busy life in the states.

Great stay!
Henry's place on Black Point is exactly as described. It is clean and modern and has everything you need for a very enjoyable stay on the island. The views of the sunrise over the ocean in the morning and the sunset over the bay out back are a great way to start and end the day.
The golf cart got us everywhere we needed to go on the island. We found the nicest beach to be about a 15 minute cart ride from the house. To get to it, turn left on the road just before you reach the government dock. We went every day and never saw another person there. It shows up as Isaac Bay on my Google Maps if you can't find it. The beach has amazingly soft white sand which is a perfect way to spend an afternoon.
We rented Henry's boat for one day and headed north to Staniel Cay and then further onto Compass Cay. This is definitely recommended. You'll probably spend around $80-100 in gas, so add that to the budget. You will get to see the sharks at Compass Cay and the swimming pigs at Big Majors Cay.
If you can bring some food with you, that would be recommended as the grocery store isn't equipped with much variety. Lorraine's was a good dining option.
Henry was excellent and always replied very quickly to any questions or concerns we had. Santos was around at night to make sure everything was OK.
Thanks for the great stay Henry!
