House is very well located with views of the ocean on one side and mountain and downtown Puerto Plata on the other side.
Very nice pool and outdoor space even when it rains under the large palapas.
Owners and caretaker very nice and helpful all the time.
Beach, taxis, mini market store, pharmacy and resto all within 5-15 walking minutes distance. And all inside Costambar secured neighborhood.
Must take a cab to go down to Puerto Plata though. 5 kms and about $15US one way.
We have moved into the main house upon owners departure and love it.

My husband and I stayed here for about 4 days in May. The property owner was responsive and very helpful while we were preparing for our trip, and we were able to communicate with Carlos the caretaker via WhatsApp when we had WiFi.
We spent most of our time traveling to different places (day trips to Monkey Jungle, beach and caves in Cabarete, Teleferico in Puerto Plata, and 27 Waterfalls). It was a decent walk (if you don't mind the hills and heat!) from a local grocery store and a couple restaurants, and we really enjoyed the mountain view from the backyard table and pool. Unfortunately, the house next door was in construction during our stay, but at least there was a mesh fabric between the houses to provide us with a little more privacy.
Our favorite place was the outdoor area for meals and the pool. We took advantage of the kitchen to prepare our own meals for breakfast and lunches. Even though we chose to travel every day, we could see staying in for the week. We also stopped by the beach one evening - which was a very short drive from the house - and there were chairs there and vendors selling food, so that would be a good idea for a day activity close by.

This was a beautiful stay for my fiancé and I. The house was very beautiful in and out the pool and jacuzzi was wonderful. The caretaker name Dani was great anything we needed he was always there The neighborhood was very nice and quite. The view was beautiful from the front and back of the house. I plan on coming back in April of next year and so far I’m very happy with this place and wouldn’t mind calling this home. I would recommend this place to all you will enjoy and love this place just like I have. Thank you once again for a beautiful experience in such a beautiful house

My stay in the DR
We stayed fir 3 lovely months. Our stay was very pleasant where we enjoyed a beautiful garden setting everyday. We found the walk to beach a bit long so we ended up renting a golf cart. The owners Yash and hemu were extremely helpful and kind. When we needed help with internet or needed translation to Spanish and a drive to stores in puerto plata they were always open to driving us. Our overall stay was great and I would return. So. thank you. Sharon and Andre.

Great company
What a wonderful couple and beautiful home! When we arrived we were welcomed with such friendliness and helpfulness. Then we had a thorough tour of the apartment (but it really felt like your own private home). The whole backyard is completely yours including the pool. We even forgot that we were staying an another night on our stay and checked out and had to return. They were so understanding and gracious! Highly recommended stay!! I didn't want to leave to go to the resort. I much rather would have stayed here our whole trip!

Caretaker a petty theif
The rental is a mother-in-law suite attached to Hemu and Yash's house.
The suite can be accessed by them and their caretaker. Their is no dead bolt to prevent access from the tenant side. Also, there is no safety deposit box available.
I was not aware of any money missing until my last 6 days. The landlord, Yash and Hemu had left a week or so before then so it was only the caretaker "Dani" and I on their property.
As the last week was now present, I did not want to convert too much American money and also my activities were now minimal where money would be needed. On Thursday February 23, 250 pesos in paper money and 75 pesos in coin. That day I went to the beach and then returned to the my place having spent no money. Dani was to clean my studio and he told landlord that he would not clean unless I was home. So when I did get there, he went inside to clean while I sat outside. After he left and I had finished getting ready to go out. Discovered that 200 pesos in paper were still in purse but not the 50 paper or the 50 in coin.
Because I had just been to the bank a few days prior, I was going to record the serial numbers of the bill the next day. Friday February 24, I put 470 pesos in my wallet and this time I put a small piece of paper with the money showing the amount. This time, I went for my morning walk returning about 9 a.m. During my walk, I met up with a couple of friends who invited me to join them later that morning to Puerto Plata.
After I returned and was preparing to meet those girls, I took out extra money from my "secret" spot" remember no safety box. When I opened my wallet, 270 pesos were only there. I had not been any where except for my morning walk.
I then went to people that I had met and that were actually friends of the landlord. They took me to Jack who is the head of the security for this community of Costambar. His suggestion was either to install dead bolts from my side or better to leave and find a new place for my safety!
I went back threw everything I had in suitcase and bags. The people helped my find a place to stay for my last 5 nights.
I told Yash and Hemu and they did not believe me. What would gain by doing this? The trouble of moving out? They offered no support or financial reimbursement.
I met many very nice people in the Dominican and in Costambar but not here at this property.

Fantastic time in the DR
I had a fantastic time in the DR. Casa Aggarwal was quiet and relaxing. Dani the groundskeeper is there to help with any needs. He was truly a blessing during my stay. I was traveling by myself. The property and area was very safe.
I have to say I loved all the paintings by the owner. They are throughout the apartment. They are very beautiful and fun to look at.
The walk to the beach is a little far and lots of hills. However, the neighbor dropped me off. He would not take a tip. A very nice gentleman. You can easily hop a ride there if you dont have a car.
I hope to visit in the near future with my family!! Puerto Plata has a piece of my heart!! Thank you!

Great stay
Yash and Hemu were amazing hosts. They were very polite, accommodating, and even gave us an occasional ride to where we needed to go. The apartment was amazingly clean and was great for the price. The food in Costambar is also great. The beach is a 10 minute walk away and I honestly can't think of a bad thing to say about the property. Views are great, pool is great, everything is great. I highly recommend staying here.

A wonderful home/apartment to stay in while you discover Puerto Plata, DR.
We stayed in Yash and Hemu's apartment in Costamber which is a gated community in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Yash arranged for transportation for my friend and I from the Santa Domingo Airport. We arrived late in the night...about 12 midnight and Hemu greeted us warmly and showed us our lovely apartment. In the morning we were delighted to see that we were sitting on the top of the hillside overlooking the ocean and mountains. I had a lovely patio next to the pool, overlooking the beautiful mountains to do Yoga each morning. The apartment is clean and very lovely and comfortable. Hemu's lovely art decorates the apartment. We visited the 27 Waterfalls and had the BEST adventure there. Yash arranged transportation for us to go there as well as down town in Puerto Plata a couple of times. We were there during Carnival and were able to attend with Yash and Hemu and enjoyed being part of the wonderful Carnival experience. The beach is just a few minutes walk down the hill. It is a beautiful long beach visited mostly by the local community, so it is not crowded at all. There are wonderful restaurants in that area as well. We were able to buy some groceries and fresh fruit at the local store and exchange money there as well. The pool on the property is lovely and well cared for. This was a marvelous place to stay and the Hosts were extraordinary in their hospitality. I would recommend this lovely home to everybody wanting to visit Puerto Plata.

This is a nice place
I spent 4 nights at this property....Yash, his wife and the young caretaker Dani are wonderful hosts. They tolerated my particular personality quirks, and I got the feeling that they were willing to help in any way possible. Very nice people. The room itself was clean and well appointed, with lots of blankets, towels, dishes and glasses. The pool was clean and refreshing. All correspondence was answered promptly. The house is a relatively short walk to the beach and market.

Wonderful stay!
We had such a great time staying there (2 weeks)! The place is very clean (Danni the caretaker cleans the place twice a week), very spacious, a good air flow, and very safe. The kitchen is well equipped, linens and beach towels. Beautiful garden, small swimming pool and gazebo at the back.
The apartment is attached to the main house yet very private.
Costambar is a very quiet gated community, very few traffic, so the area is pleasant to walk around without pollution or traffic noise. Beach is walking distance,10 min, so are the restaurants, 5 min, not a whole lot of choices but "Sole mio" was our favorite!
Getting outside Costambar you can take a motoconcho to the main road C5 or walk, and from there take a guagua (local bus) for a few pesos. 45 min to Sosua , 1 hour to Cabarete, it is worth it and gives you a real local experience!
But more importantly Yash and Hemu are the nicest hosts you can have, extremely helpful and friendly, any questions you can have, feel free to ask. They truly made our stay very special, we enjoyed sharing conversations with them. They are around minding their own life, yet available if you need need anything without being intrusive.
They do care that you are having a good time and that you are not missing anything. We had a few rainy days, actually torrential rains and Yash came to check if we needed anything or needed to go anywhere. On several occasions Yash drove us to the main supermarket in Puerto Plata and the currency exchange for best rate.
This is a place for a peaceful and relaxing stay, and we highly recommend this apartment.
We were sad leaving and of course cannot wait to be back!

Loved our vacation at Yash and Hemu's house!
I am not a person of many words, so I'd just say we felt embraced like family. Hemu and Yash are wonderful people and helped us with everything: grocery, currency exchange, tennis reservation, taxi, any information we needed. We lived in separated part of their house, so any time I wanted to ask something I would go outside and call them through a window. :))) The house is beautiful outside and inside and located on the hill, so there is always a wonderful breeze and nice ocean view on one side and a mountain view on the other. There is a great pool in the backyard with a table where you can enjoy your meal. Every day starts with a quiet sound of water dripping in the pool from a small waterfall, it sounds amazing. We had a plenty of closet space and towels. Kitchen is equipt with everything we needed. I cooked dinner every day and we had lunch in the restaurant or took a pizza to the beach. Costambar is a small community, so there is a short walk to the grocery store, where though you wouldn't find a big variety, but everything essential. We got groceries once in Puerto Plata on our way from the airport and then just went to a local store for some things a few times. The beach is 10 minutes walk, where you can rent deck chairs for 100 RD$ per day per one. There are locals selling homemade sweets (sugar&milk&nuts sort of pancakes) and fruits. There are bars and a couple of restaurant right on the beach and some others close by. The beach is protected by a coral reef so there is no big waves, don't forget to pack your googles to see some fish near the reef. Local people are friendly. If you go to the left of the beach all the way to a coral reef you can climb there and get to the high cliff with a nice view. There are also horses and cows pasture there and there is a mountain view in the background. If you are a photography enthusiasts like myself it's also a nice spot to take sunset pictures.
I would recommend to go to 27 waterfalls. Their website is a bit outdated and doesn't have some useful information you need to know. There are no lockers there! So you have to leave your belongings like dry clothing, wallets in the taxi! The tickets are cheap, please, tip the guide!
Did I say I was not a person of many words in the beginning? I got carried away apparently! We loved our vacation here. We didn't want a crowded place or all inclusive hotel with some people going crazy, and we found it here, in Costambar at Yash and Hemu's.

A very convienent and enjoyable stay
The apartment is well located - 10 minutes to Jennys - where you can get basic groceries and change money which is a big help. The Constambar restaurants and beaches are all within a 10-15 minute walk . The apartment has a beautiful setting - great views of POP at night. I felt safe staying there and Dani was always available to help out and he keeps the unit and pool area very clean. As I was there in February, I did not use the pool often - we had rain and the water was cold as it did not get enough heat from the missing sun. It was very quiet and private as the owners were away and we had the whole area for ourselves. Highly recommended and I hope to stay there again.

Awesome apartment in Costambar!
My wife and I are involved in providing safe drinking water to the people of the Dominican Republic and we just spent a month is the DR and rented Yash and Hemu's apartment in Costambar. The apartment was great and the private garden and pool area was awesome. Privacy is very important to us and you can walk out the door of the apartment directly into the private garden and pool area!!
We did not rent a car while we were in the DR. The apartment is located a short distance to a taxi stand and it was very easy to get around the area without a car using a taxi and other public transportation.
A grocery store and several restaurants are within easy walking distance to the apartment.
Yash and Hemu are great hosts and is was great to get to know them!!

Nice place to stay
Costambar seems like a very safe place to stay. I have stayed in Costambar several times and like the area. I stayed in this apartment for about 10 days. This apartment was very nice and clean and spacious in an area that is well maintained. The apartment has a large bedroom, large main area and small kitchen with refrigerator, stove, sink, cabinets with dishes. The apartment has a back door which opens to a huge covered patio and a very nice pool. The owners do not use this area much so I had private use of the patio and pool the whole time I was there. The house sets up on a hill so you have a partial view of the ocean on one side. The back has a partial view of the mountains. Another advantage of this is a good breeze much of the time flowing through the apartment. The bedroom is air-conditioned. A small store and a few restaurants are within 5-10 minute walk. The main beach is a 10-15 minute walk. I walked these paths at night and felt very safe. The owners were very friendly and helpful and speak English for those whose Spanish is not so hot. When I had problems with a weak wi-fi connection, he actually ran a cable to me through the window. This is more an area for relaxation. (Reading, enjoying the beach, the pool, and the patio) There is not much nightlife or stores to shop in Costambar. Puerto Plata is available for a $20-$40 cab fair. I enjoyed my stay here very much and am looking forward to being able to spend more time here on my next trip.

Stayed June 7-13 2012
I had a great time at this apartment. The positive, which can not be under estimated are the wonderful owners. The previous reviews which state how nice and helpful they are is dead on! Any concerns or questions you have are immediately addressed with a smile and a solution. I’ve stayed in Puerto Plata numerous times at all-inclusive or high end villa rentals. This was a departure for me. I was a little leery of Costamabar after doing some research on the internet and speaking to several Dominican friends. The concerns were about the frequent power outages and the state of the roads. But, I am happy I stayed at this apartment.
I was extremely disappointed by the lack of cable television. The owner informed me upon arrival that there hasn’t been cable in about a year, but he’s working on restoring it. They left a DVD player and several DVD’s in the apartment but I choose to use my laptop for entertainment. Luckily, most of my time was spent away from the apartment where television wasn’t an issue, but when you’re away you still would like to tune in CNN every now and catch up on the world.
The apartment is a very nice size one bedroom unit. It was very clean and enjoyable for company. I was able to cook several wonderful meals. Please be advised that the area suffers from blackouts and while the unit has a back-up system the air conditioning will not work during the black outs. These black outs last several hours each day. During the day this is not an issue. But, at 3am when you’re trying to sleep and you’ve got the Caribbean heat bearing down on you, it becomes an issue.
Overall, I had a wonderful stay at the apartment. And I will consider staying at the apartment again. I’m a tourist who knows the area and I rented a SUV. So, getting around wasn’t an issue.

New Friends in Puerto Plata
My husband, son, and I decided on a short break during spring vacation and we contacted Yash and Hemu who were extremely helpful in helping us arrange our trip. Although we arrived in the very early morning they greeted us cheerfully and ensured that we were ok. The next morning we awoke to a beautiful private pool and well kept grounds right outside our bedroom door. The fridge was stocked with necessities and we had a nice breakfast in a tropical garden. We then proceeded to the beach which is walking distance. Our hosts were also very knowledgeable about the area and made restaurant suggestions that were affordable and very good. We had a relaxing stay and hope to stay with them again.

One of the best - if not the best view in Costambar!
Welcome to Casa Aggrawal, home to palm trees, beautiful sunsets and ocean breezes that compliment the view from our home for the past week and a half. Situated in one of the highest points of Costambar this home is truly a classy yet cosy place to stay... The first thing we noticed was the view from many windows that illuminated this beautiful bright home. As we made our way to the back of the home we were greeted by quiet and immaculately landscaped backyard which features a large pool and jacuzzi.
We somewhat surprised the owners with our visit as we required to make a change in our plans and leave Santiago earlier than expected. Yash & Hemu we very accommodating even though they were not expecting us and helped us get settled in within a matter of hours.
We are here checking out the country to see where we could live, how to make a living etc...and one thing I could say is that if I could build a home here it would be pretty close to the design, look and feel of Casa Aggrawal.
It's the Dominican Republic - with the comforts and luxury of North America...
