About this house rental
Aberdeen is an elegant oceanfront home built in the style of coastal New England craftsman cottages. It greets the morning sunrise with huge windows and airy interiors and faces east for spectacular sunrise views. It sits on the eastern side of Orr's Island and enjoys panoramic open-ocean views, cooling sea breezes and the sounds of an enthusiastic surf hitting the rocks--all delights to the senses! Built in the image of an old coastal-Maine cottage, it is a large house with all the modern amenities, privacy and a spacious interior. Complete down to the inglenook and wood-burning stove in the living room, it will take you back to the glories of the turn of the century while happily bypassing the inconveniences of that time. It has four bedrooms, plus a sleeping loft, two bathrooms, a laundry room with washer and dryer, a kitchen that overlooks the dining room, a living room, an entertainment room/office, a large front deck, and an enclosed porch. The entertainment room has a flat screen cable TV, DVD player, leather armchair, and there is wireless internet. Outside is a spacious deck, lawn and gardens, an outdoor shower, and a small stream down to the ocean. A beautiful wide swath of grass leads you to the rock-bound shoreline complete with ledges, a beach and tide pools. You can launch your own kayaks from the beach, and kids can find sea glass and shells. The land is a total of 13 acres and is available for rental nine months of the year. For views, space, comfort, elegance and convenience, you can't beat Aberdeen. It is located 20 minutes from Brunswick, home of Bowdoin College, grocery stores, gas stations, shops, and 30 minutes from Freeport where you can shop at outlet stores and L.L. Bean.

Relaxing and beautiful place to stay. Lots of space.

This place was better than the description on VRBO. It was roomy, cozy and well equipped. The location is really spectacular with a rocky beach just across the private road. The ocean views are wonderful and there is no traffic as the road is a dead end. There were 11 of us at one point and the kids absolutely loved the loft and had no trouble managing the staircase to it. The front yard is great for cornhole and the deck was our favorite place to sit and read under the retractable awning. We just loved our time at Aberdeen!

We had a fantastic week at Aberdeen. Orr's Island is a magical getaway for families with young kids. We had four adults and four young kids and everyone had an amazing time. The house was perfect to enjoy coastal Maine- it is clean and beautiful. The four year olds loved exploring the rocky beach and finding blueberries on the trails behind the house. They called the bonus room in the attic "the Magic Tree House" all week and scampered up to play with the doll house. The two and one year old sat on the front porch watching the sun rise over the beach eating Cheerios every morning. Just perfect.

A lovely home in a beautiful part of Maine. We loved our two nights here and we only wished we had booked for a whole week. Perfect for a family of five. Beds were comfortable. The owner is great about recommendations and proactively communicating directions to the home. The rock beach and coast are so beautiful. Nature hikes are just a few minutes away with some really great dining options that range from fancy to delicious fry shacks or just DIY. Everything at the house is set up for cooking lobster and seafood.

Absolutely fantastic location on the ocean! It was everything my family dreamed of for a stay on the coast of Maine. There was plenty of room for our family of ten. There was a small problem at check-in which was taken care of immediately. Our host was excellent! Highly recommended place to getaway!

This cottage was absolutely perfect for our weekend for a graduation at Bowdoin. Hosts were wonderful communicators. Views and coffee on the deck were so much better than we anticipated. It is necessary to read the entire guidebook that is in the house because details about the grill and other features are in the guidebook not on the list. My only other comment would be that the bedroom on the third floor is difficult to access through downstairs in the laundry room and would not be suitable For most adults. I am a bit concerned that it could be a fire hazard for children and probably is not a legal bedroom space, But for our purposes, it was OK. The two main bedrooms have beautiful views, particularly the master. Two other bedrooms are quite small with twin beds, so the larger other beds are all on the third floor loft. I think the spaces ideal for a family with two or three children or two couples with two children.

This is the 2nd time my sister’s and I have stayed here. It is one of the best places I have stayed and I have rented many places through VRBO. I will be back for a third time and already looking forward to it. Sandy

We cant begin to describe all the special things that made us feel at home in the cottage. Very special home on a special island to us. Would love to stay again. The owners were also a pleasure to communicate with as we expected bad weather.

Several members of my family and I enjoyed the week before Christmas at this classic Maine home. It sits on a knoll overlooking the ocean on a dead end street. While there, it’s like living in a post card, complete with pine trees and crashing surf. The home has lots of character and holds the energy of the happy memories that have been made there. We enjoyed every moment ! And as a post script, we inadvertently left two bags at the house when we headed home and got a prompt call from the property manager, Amy, letting us know of the oversight. She then boxed them up and got them in the mail to us in very short order. What a wonder she is! Aberdeen is Maine as it used to be, and how we have imagined it to be. It’s a true treasure!

The house has lots of charm, space and comfort. Clean, well stocked, and great kitchen. We loved it. Our group of 9 (ages 4-73),plus 3 locals who came for dinners had a wonderful time. The house provides great space for all ages. The view is spectacular and we all loved walking on the rocks and searching the tidal pools. Highly recommend this house and host!

We came up for the weekend for parent's weekend at our daughter's school and I am just sorry we did not spend more time at the house which is spacious yet cozy and would be amazing in the summer but just as great in the winter as the views are so gorgeous. Loved everything about this well appointed and perfectly situated house. Definitely coming back!

Our family had a wonderful weekend in this charming, comfortable, and warmly welcoming house. We walked on the beach and in the woods, read books by the wood stove, and explored Bath and Wiscasset. The house has everything you need to relax plus nice bathrooms, comfortable beds and pretty views. We hope to come back and stay a little longer next time.

Our 12 day stay in this quiet place was most enjoyable. We did lots of cooking, reading, and soaking up the sunrises and afternoon sun. The fenced area provided a secure place to play with our dogs.

The house was perfect for our needs. 6 adults in town for a graduation. Easy and beautiful drive to Brunswick/Bowdoin and great location for a base to enjoy the area. The highlight is certainly the porch and the great views from almost every window. Well stocked kitchen. Owner was easy to reach for questions before and during and the house gives off a great Maine vibe. Lots of books, too. We highly recommend this gem!

Seven longtime friends and former colleagues who worked in publishing in the 1970s gathered together at Aberdeen for the first time since COVID. After sharing key elements of our lives for over 50 years, this was a beautiful, inspirational and relaxing setting to talk, laugh, cook and just hang out together! The view from the porch and every window was well-worth my six hour drive! We are grateful for the experience! Thank you!

My group of friends stayed here for our Bowdoin College reunion weekend. The house was perfectly located within easy driving distance of campus, and the Maine coast views were spectacular. We enjoyed the waterfront and wading into the tide pools on our sunny day, and playing games and lounging by the wood stove on our rainy day. Would highly recommend!

Beautifully-made house- all wood and so lovely with thoughtful nooks throughout. Quiet and serene. Our favorite thing was sea-glass hunting on the private, pebbly beach- we got very lucky! One thing to keep in mind is you must take trash with you to the nearby recycling center- we were here for new years so the center was closed for a few days (their schedule plus observed holiday), so be sure to plan for that.
A truly gorgeous property down a winding road with towering trees and little rivulets all around- so pretty and cozy!

Aberdeen was just as described. A lovely house on the ocean tucked away on a quiet part of Orr’s Island. Everything was well-prepared for our arrival and everything we needed was easy to find. Communication from the owners and property manager was great and it was all so well prepared that we didn’t need support during our stay. Highly recommended!

A dream come true! A lovely, very comfortable, and pet-friendly home on the ocean. Incredible views and a private beach. Woke up to the sunrise and ended the day star gazing on the front porch. We loved the fireplace and cooked an entire Thanksgiving meal with ease in the kitchen (the oven is tiny, but we planned around that, I'm used to a double oven and it really didn't phase me).

This house is spectacular, with all the modern amenities. The illumated gated yard was perfect for our pups potty breaks at night. Very relaxing with the sound of crashing waves. Grounds were beautiful and manicured.

We stayed at Aberdeen over a weekend to attend the wedding of a close family friend. The house is just beautiful, exactly as described. We could hear ocean waves through the window in the evening, and enjoyed the fantastic views from the house. Would definitely stay there again.

We are two couples who vacation together at least once per year. We had been to the Harpswell area before, but this was definitely our favorite stay.
The property is very private and relaxing. The house was well appointed and had everything we needed--and more! It was very comfortable with lots of places to just sit and read or relax. The views from the front porch were beautiful and it was just a short walk from the front yard to your private beach.
Communication with the homeowner was very good and she also checked on us during the week to make sure we had what we needed.
If you are looking for a relaxing vacation in a nice, clean, comfortable home with room to spread out you can't find a better place!

Aberdeen is a beautiful, well-maintained, and very clean house in a beautiful setting on the Maine coast. We loved the kitchen, common areas and especially the deck with a view of the ocean as well as having easy access to the intertidal. We also much appreciated the library. As my brother said, one could stay happily at Aberdeen for a long time just exploring the library! We would love to return!

Aberdeen is an exquisite property. The views as one relaxes on the front porch, the pebbly beach that leads to the ocean and the home itself is an experience not to be missed. We kayaked, went to the Cabbage Island Clambake and did a sunset schooner ride as well as visiting the Dolphin Restaurant, the Salt Cod Cafe, the Island Candy Company and Land's End. Everything is nearby, but when you are at the property, you have total privacy. Would definitely visit again. Hated to leave when our week was over.

Our 1st morning brought a terrific sigh of satisfaction and relaxation to myself and our 5 young adult family members. Quintessentially Maine in location, views, home and amenities we had a wonderful week in Aberdeen.
The attic/loft bedroom was short for tall family members but, the home was large enough that sleeping arrangements were accommodated elsewhere.
Our 3 family dogs enjoyed the outside fenced area with their own view of the cove while we greatly enjoyed the outside shower nearby.
The home is wonderful, very comfortable, nicely furnished/decorated and built in a sensible style that creates room for all and focuses on views of the sea.

Long Overdue Recharge
It had been about a year since we had last taken a real break that didn't involve the joys of modern air travel or extended family. Quite unexpectedly and with fairly short notice we found ourselves with four-days off. To capitalize on this boon, we began search for a quick getaway. Preferring something in driving distance, quiet, not-too-peopley, and near the water. This was the perfect place on a quiet road and neighborhood. We could watch the water from many vantage points from the house or walk two minutes down to the beach. A fantastic place to recharge! We would love to come back soon.

Beautiful Maine coast
We had a wonderful stay in Orr's Island. The house is beautifully situated on the rocky shore, and was both comfortable and stylish. Our kids loved playing in the loft, and even the baby slept well :)

Great for our short family stay
We enjoyed the view and walk to the rocky shore to appreciate looking at rocks by the sea. Enjoyed the vibe/aesthetics of the house, and having the fireplace for ambience at night. Got a little warm inside during the day, but plenty of box fans provided to keep air moving. Not the easiest of spaces for small children to navigate- as there are lots of steps and breakables in easy to reach places, and the front lawn is a hillside and the beach access if rocky terrain- but plenty of fun places to visit in the nearby area and bring whatever toys children may need/enjoy. Nice that it had a fenced in area for a dog, but our dog was able to get out of that as there is an area where the bottom of the fence doesn't meet the ground well enough. I didn't do any of the cooking, but the oven was very old school. Overall a very nice space- would return for another visit!
