In addition, we organize immersive experiences for you – wine tastings at local vineyards, or bringing a reputable local chef who will spend an afternoon/evening at Villa Lavanda and teach you how to prepare a local Dalmatian meal (seafood, vegetarian, you pick!) You can participate or just watch. Meals can range from a traditional Dalmatian “peka” to “buzara.” These meals will be prepared with fresh food coming from a local organic farm.
In addition to the perfect beach location, and the luscious garden terraces, Villa Lavanda is filled with art. The owner, whose ancestors are from this village, is an art history professor who collected and displayed pieces of art, making this both a charming and sophisticated house. Art pieces are either replicas of historically important art, or originals from local artists (hung high on the wall, so you don’t need to worry about your children reaching them).
The Modern bedroom (king-size bed) exhibits modern art pieces. It also has a sea view. The other bedrooms have views toward the gardens. The Classic bedroom also has a king-size bed and has classic art pieces, including some replicas of greek and roman art. The third bedroom is the children's room with a bunkbed (adult size) - full on the bottom, single on top. The Rustic bedroom has a queen size bed, and in addition has one single bed in the loft. There is a chair-mattrass in a loft. The living room also has a sleep sofa, if needed.
KITCHENS: there are two: indoor and outdoor. The indoor kitchen is fully equipped with stove/oven, fridge, two sets of pots and bowls, sets of dishes for 12 people, spices, wine glasses, etc., as well as a coffee machine, microwave and dishwasher. The outdoor kitchen includes another fridge, an additional stove and microwave, ice making machine, as well as a very large gas grill.
Bed linen, house and beach towels are provided and so are many “beach toys,” such as beach chairs and umbrella, sand toys, and balls, as well as masks for snorkeling.
GETTING THERE: Cultural Cross-Roads
Gradac is the most southern beach village on the Makarska Riviera. It is placed at the crossroads from the Roman Split and the Renaissance Dubrovnik, to UNESCO-protected Muslim village. The region has many cultural and religious sites including the Catholic churches and the Pilgrimage Medjugorje, Sephardic synagogues, Orthodox churches, and mosques. Gradac is also very close to a few recognized wine appellations. - organic one Komarna, near the Peljesac bridge and many on Peljesac penninsula.
Gradac is centrally located between the Split and Dubrovnik airports, so you can fly to either one. Split Airport is time-wise closer. Depending on how you plan to spend your vacation, having a car is not a necessity at our house as there are stores and restaurants nearby. If you don’t plan on renting a car and need an airport transportation to and from, or occasional additional rides, we can organize that. Just let us know.
It is a faster trip from Split, as the A1 highway from Split goes all the way to Ploce, so you only have a few kilometers on a two-way road to Gradac, making it an 1.5 hour drive. The drive to Dubrovnik airport is an hour longer as it is only a two-way road. Getting to Gradac is not an issue, but getting back to the Dubrovnik airport to your return flight might be, so we recommend people stay south of Dubrovnik (Cavtat) for the last night before their trip back home.
GRADAC
Take a stroll on the beach and enjoy snorkeling, diving, peddle boat and surf rentals, etc. You can rent bikes in the nearby hotel. The local bakery is a few meters away, a convenience store about 100 m away, and both the pharmacy and a medical office are in town (which you hopefully will not need on your vacation).
During the summer, there is a waterpark perfect for children and adventurous adults.
There are plenty of small restaurants and cafés in town. So, if you chose to, you can stay on the beach and relax for days, and just walk everywhere.
HIDDEN NEARBY GEMS
In addition to the beautiful Adriatic sea and all watersport activities, there are many points of interest in this area, which is a genuine cultural cross-road. From Split to Dubrovnik (both of which have very old Sephardic synagogues; the one in Dubrovnik being the oldest one still in use in Europe) to Mostar and Počitelj with their Otoman Empire architecture - you will be mesmerized with the beauty of the geography, architecture and music and the notion of inclusivity regardless of the recent wars.
Add to that a few hidden adventures like a photo safari in the Neretva valley or kite surfing on the delta sand beaches, you will wish time has stopped.
We encourage you take advantage of being close to many sites that are not as frequently visited, and all are within a short distance of Gradac. Upon your booking we will send you a list with links to many sites, including these:
Komarna Appellation Wineries – organic appellation with tastings - Rizman, Terra madre
Kite surfing on Neretva delta
Metkovic -- Narona, old Roman city, in situ archeological museum
Bacina Lakes
Pocitelj and Mostar, one day trip to Herzegovina
Day-trips by boat to the islands of Korcula and Hvar
Zaostrog - old Franciscan monastery with an ethno museum
Makarska - from Shell museum to the Skywalk

A lovely family beach house, with homey and personal touches. A great front terrace and garden, and only 12 ft - the width of the road in front of the house - to the beautiful pebble beach. Loved it!

Stopped over for a few days in the middle of a busy trip around the region. Just what we were looking for to recharge our batteries - quiet, nice walks along the beach, literally across the street from the pebble beach. Very comfortable, everything we needed.

Excellent location on a quieter part of the town with larger beach. House well stocked. Easily split into two sections with two bedrooms each for two families. We had a bit of trouble with the hot tub, but the owner was very responsive to trying to address the problem. Highly recommend taking her up on a local making a Peka experience, quite a treat.

Perfect communication and organization before our arrival. Really fully equipped house, you have everything whatever you want and need.

We had a very nice week in Gradac. It was a family vacation with 9 people of different age.
The location of the house right next to the beach is very nice. The garden with an outdoor shower is perfect for relaxing after the beach or eating lunch/dinner.
It was very hot outside this week but the air condition in the house worked well and made it easy to sleep at night.
Gradac is also a very nice town if you want a relaxed vacation but still access to all you need, like water activities, running/hiking and restaurants and shopping.
The only dissapointment was that the hotel next door was closed, so the pool announced in the description of the house was not accessable.

A group of 7 good friends had a wonderfully relaxing time in this perfect home. Large enough to give each of us space to be alone while also having plenty of options to hang out together in the day and evenings.
Literally right on the sea we had no need of a pool. Despite being close in fact to lots of small restaurants, cafes and shops, no noise disturbed us and we could still very much enjoy the sound of the waves.
Parking was the only thing that could be improved. Once we managed to locate how to access by car, you needed someone to guide you into the parking spaces as there it was a tight fit.
The house has everything you might need including lots of thoughtful items such as sea shoes and snorkels, sun hats and two brilliantly equipped kitchens!
We all would totally recommend this wonderful home.

Absolutely wonderful
My family came to Mirena’s home to spend time together by the sea along with our 3 kids and my brothers family of 4. The house is so well equipped- we all had a comfortable place to sleep and relax. We enjoyed cooking in the inside kitchen and the outdoor one. Both are set up so well. Beach equipment like towels and chairs (and more!) are also available so you literally just walk out of the beautiful garden into the beach. It was a dream and exactly what I needed- so relaxing, gorgeous views, well equipped , comfortable and beautiful. I’d come again in a heartbeat.

Great stay
Great location, very comfortable, love the garden. Although right on the beach, it feels very private and secluded because of the garden.

Awesome sunsets and views
Very well kept and modern. Amazing views and breathtaking sunsets. Centrally located and right on the beach with everything you need just around the corner. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to visit Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast.

Relaxing week
The property is well maintained and located 5m from the beach. There is a lovely terrace with an awning at the front which is a great setting for most meals - amazing views. There is also a great jacuzzi which is nice on cooler days. The beach is fine although you need to hire loungers if you don’t want to lie on the stony beach. Gradac is a local holiday resort but has some decent restaurants nearby.

Good choice! :)
It was great! House is near sea. You can go to the beach just with your towel. Sea is clean and warm for swimming! House is big, clean and nice. It has lots of rooms and lots of space around the house. You have parking space. Near house is caffe bar, restoraunt, hotel, bakery and souvenir shops. There is also walking trail near sea. I recommended it if you wanna enjoy and relaks in the sun and sea.

Location, Location, Location with the best views!!
I stayed in Villa Lavanda in July of 2016 for one week and then again one week in July of 2018. And I am definitely coming back again soon!!! I was overjoyed with the house, the little town of Gradac and the location! This place “screams” location, location, location!
I highly recommend this place for family reunions, friends gathering, bachelorette gateways, couple gateways, honeymoons or just about any group vacation gateways! You will literally not find better location than Villa Lavanda! And the host was friendly, offering lots of great suggestions and recommendations and truly making our Croatian experience unforgettable!
The Villa is located only few steps from the beach. You can enjoy your morning coffee on one of the terraces (the Villa has few terraces!) overlooking the sea or you can conveniently walk down to the beach and have your coffee there! The Villa is accommodatingly furnished with everything you need for you and your family. Full kitchen, gas grill which made dinner time super quick and easy, beach towels, beach toys, baby feeding chair, etc.
The Villa is very functional. Four rooms, three bathrooms and enough beds to comfortably fit everyone with plenty of room for all to do their own things but still be together. There is a big family table in the front and in the back terrace for big family meals. The Villa is nicely decorated with interesting art pieces and local handcrafted decors adding lots of character exemplifying Croatian heritage. The property has a gate which can be locked so your young one would not walk away.
We also enjoyed using the recommended organic chef for a whole family experience at his farm with a phenomenal view. We ended up having him also come by the Villa and cook for us there using the fresh seafood and vegies from his farm!
There are a lot of restaurants in the area (all walking distance of course!). There are also many things to do in the area like hiking, islands hopping, visit to Dubrovnik or Medjugorje, kite surfing, water skiing, and many more. One of our favorite things to do in the evening was to buy locally made cheese, bread and wine (all made by locals in the area!), take it to the beach and just enjoy the sunset! And the best part is you can do this every evening either from the terrace of Villa Lavanda or from the beach in front!!!

Location, location, location, Croatian getaway
Located across from the sea and beach, yet private and relaxing. Leave the front gate and you can stroll for miles along the sea. Cafes, shopping, gelato, nightlife are yours to enjoy. The Villa details are accurate so I will not repeat. So if you want a home feel with amenities in a luxurious setting Villa Lavanda cannot be surpassed. Easy travel to Dubrovnik, Split, islands, only your imagination can stop you. I would definitely return to this Villa.

Wonderful vacation home with scenic views
Our family of 5 stayed at the property for 10 days in mid-July of 2018. We truly enjoyed our stay at Villa Lavanda! The “happening room” in the house is the kitchen and living space with big windows facing the Adriatic Sea. The kitchen is well equipped and nice to work in. We prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner with ocean views. Even better is enjoying the food and wine while sitting on the porch with friends and family overlooking the sea. We took in many beautiful sunset dinners on the front veranda.
One of our favorite things is the garden with beautiful, draping flowers providing shade and beauty. From the house it takes just a few steps through the private garden to be at the beach. We laid in the sun, read a book in the garden, and sat in the shade and listened to the ocean. Mid-July offered plenty of sun with a breeze right by the water. The outdoor shower on the side of the house was perfect with our kids jumping in and out of the ocean. Restaurants, markets, and ice cream stores are directly on the board walk and only a few steps away. Our boys loved watching and feeding flowers to the little turtles that quietly roam the gardens. With the easy access to kayaks, jet ski’s, trampolines, water obstacle course and boat tours, our stay was full of water fun too.
We also went on the authentic Dalmation gourmet experience with Chef Braco as suggested by the owners in the manual and loved it. We were served a traditional peka dinner along with salad, fruit, wine and dessert made from fresh, local ingredients. We enjoyed the meal in the hills of Metkovic, sitting under a big fig tree and overlooking the Neretva river delta. Dinner was delicious and their hospitality unforgettable. It will be a treasured memory. Dubrovnik was an easy day trip away and we were happy to come home to our easy-access beach front.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back!!

Charming/comfortable/convenient/magnificent views
Very difficult to leave this charming B&B just steps to the sea, restaurants, and ice cream! Wonderful amenities, modern kitchen, lots of places to relax alone or entertain a group. A truly "no-worries" vacation home. Easy access to highway, quiet, clean and friendly. Lush with plantings of fig, orange and lemon trees. Grapes cascade off the back wall. Herbs of all types and beautiful flowers. A perfect place for traveling with family or friends. Owner is extremely knowledgable about places to see "off the beaten track."

Charming/comfortable/convenient/magnificent views
I could not believe how beautiful the property was - updated modern and well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, lovely showers, gardens lush with fig, orange, and lemon trees. Grape vines and color galore from a wide variety of flowering plants and trees. A number of outdoor spaces to be together as a group or for alone time. Very clean and well organized. And just steps from the beach! We relaxed at night watching the sun go down across the sea, watching boats sail by and flickering lights from the adjacent islands. Just a short stroll to sample Croatian delicacies, drinks and ice cream. Easy access to highways and sightseeing destinations. Did not want to leave but will go back.

Idealne miejsce dla rodzin z dziećmi.
Świetna lokalizacja tuż przy plaży. W domu dużo miejsca: 3 sypialne, pokój z łóżkiem piętrowym i dodatkowe 2 kanapy w salonie, 3 łazienki. Duży taras za domem idealny na wspólne obiady. Przed domem taras z pięknym widokiem na morze. W okół domu piękny ogród. Komfortowe warunki i dobrze wyposażony dom.
Great location right on the beach. At home a lot of space: 3 bedrooms, bunk room and an extra 2 sofa beds in the living room, 3 bathrooms. Large terrace behind the house perfect for shared dinners. In front of the house terrace with beautiful sea view. Around the house a beautiful garden. Comfortable conditions and well-equipped home. Parking behind the house not so small we managed to park 3 large cars. Beach clean, clear water. There are several places for snorkeling. There is also where to drop the rod. The beach is very long at the end even with a shady spot. Gradac very interesting, especially recommends exploring on the bike. The bike can be rented on site (the best ones were at the Laguna Hotel). For unpaved bikers, I advise not to enter the mountain. Routes in the beautiful mountains. With additional attractions, you can kayak down the river. For travelers from Poland, I recommend accommodation by 1000 km. Completely different departure calm with time to look. Great place, great holiday :)

House is nice, right next to beach. Beatiful garden, lot of space, perfect for up to 10 people
Good location - beach, bakery, shop, restaurants, caring owner, older house refurbished with some new parts, well equipped, very good experience. We enjoyed the stay a lot, including grapes and figs from garden. 4 turtles made our stay even more pleasant. I would recommend it to everyone families or groups od friends.

Perfect Experience
Gradac and this house are just perfect for vacationing on the Dalmatian coast. We were with a group of friends. We had a Croatia/Dalmatia "traditions" and "through the back door" experience organized by the wonderful property owners, using Gradac as our home base and driven to Split, Dubrovnik, Mostar/Počitelj in Bosnia/Herzegovina, Hvar, Peliješac (including Ston and Mali Ston), and Narona/Vid (a Roman ruin in situ museum). As a bonus, we had a brunch at the villa and two special dinners (one at the tour leader/chef's home and one back at the villa). With the group we visited 5 wineries, including two boutique ones that no tourist would know about. And as another bonus, we had an amazing visit to the monastery in Zaostrog, the priest there being a relative of the property owners – the monastery is now mostly guest rooms and a great museum with art, sculpture, costumes, furniture, and ancient olive oil pots and vats, kitchen implements, etc.
The location of Gradac is perfect for making day trips to Dalmatian coast sites in all directions, the town is nice, the water clear and beautiful, the sunsets gorgeous. The coast can be walked for miles on a nice path along the ocean. Definitely recommend both the house and the great location.

Scent of Lavender, History, and Beach
This is the third year I'm coming to Villa Lavanda, and everything about it is amazing! The house is right next to the beach, and also very traditional. It's nicely decorated with local historical exhibits and art, the garden is filled with lavender and rosemary, making it stand apart from hotels and other rentals. My family and I highly recommend it, we'll be going there again! We love watching the sunsets from the front terrace.

Kuca je odlicno! (the house is great!)
My wife and I visited with the owner at this charming house by the sea while we were on tour with our traditional Croatian music group "Pajdasi" ("Friends"). Our much too short stay in Gradac was absolutely delightful--with dips in the warm Adriatic only footsteps away, delicious mediterranean fare at the many restaurants along the beach, and sunset walks to the town center and neighboring village. We eagerly look forward to a return visit!

On the beach in Gradac village - great location, great experience!
A few years ago, I was in Dalmatia for the first time -- loved the area both for vacation and exploration of historical sites. This house is different than most B&B places, as it is a second home for the local family, filled with art, books, etc. Picked fresh rosemary from the herb garden for grilling fish in the outdoor kitchen (there is obviously an indoor kitchen also). The house is directly across the street from the village beach - about a 75 foot walk to the water. Can't beat the location!
