About this villa rental
Location
THE SPOT resides on the beachfront, nestled in a private Mediterranean garden spreading over more than 1,000 square metres at the end of one of the most beautiful beaches of Central Dalmatian mainland, in the quiet and charming coastal village of Zaostrog on Makarska Riviera, half way between Split and Dubrovnik. Visitors to Dalmatia often head straight to the islands, but Makarska Riviera is home to some of the country’s loveliest stretches of beach.
Zaostrog encircles a deep sheltered bay with the dramatic Viter Peak (770 metres), a part of Mount Biokovo, at its back, sheltering the village from harsher inland climate. The main draw here is the magnificent shingle beach, which shelves into the clear waters of the Adriatic Sea. Zaostrog’s beach is a long, curving stretch of pebble backed by a shaded walkway populated by several cafés, restaurants and ice-cream parlours.
Property
This beautifully designed property, furnished to a high standard, suits the more discerning customer looking to experience the charm of the unspoilt Mediterranean, yet is within easy access of some of Dalmatia’s hottest locations, like Split and Makarska, Hvar and Dubrovnik, or the Adriatic islands, as well as the best restaurants and tourist activities Central Dalmatia has to offer.
Set on an exquisite long pebble beach extending directly along its front, the villa offers a breathtaking panoramic view of Mount Biokovo and a distant view of Pelješac Peninsula and most famous Croatian islands of Korčula, Hvar and Brač.
The villa is surrounded by terraced gardens on different levels furnished for outdoor dining and leisure. A separate BBQ House at the back has an open fireplace and yet another intimate dining area.
The entire property is fenced and child-friendly.
Natural drinking water straight from the mountains is available at a nearby spring located just next to the property, only a minute’s walking distance from the house.
Architecture & Design
Designed by legendary Ivo Vitic, one of the fathers of Croatian postmodern architecture, THE SPOT is a prime example of early 1960 Dalmatian modernist architecture. This architectural jewel, fully renovated in 2014 and furnished with authentic pieces and artwork, is without a doubt one of the finest properties available to rent in the area.
Accommodation
THE SPOT is ideal for groups, couples and families and can easily accommodate up to 10 adults. Its location offers plenty of privacy and peace.
The villa has 5 bedrooms, 3 with a sea view (2 doubles) and 2 twin rooms, and 2 modern bathrooms.
Opened in July 2014, THE SPOT grants special promotional discounts.
Access
Zaostrog is located on the coastal road D8 Split-Dubrovnik, about 1 hr 30 min drive from Split or Dubrovnik airport.
There are regular long-distance buses along the coast from Split to Ploče and Dubrovnik, and local buses between the villages of Makarska Riviera.
The property is easily accessed by the villa’s gate from the quaint local coastal walkway, which opens into a private courtyard with its own garage that accommodates 1 car and additional 4 parking spaces, all available free of charge to guests only.
Ferries depart daily to the island of Hvar from neighbouring village Drvenik, to Pelješac Peninsula (from where the island Korčula is reachable) from nearby Ploče (less than 20 min driving distance) and to Brač from nearby Makarska (less than 30 min driving distance). Split, Međugorje and Dubrovnik are all just an hour’s drive away from THE SPOT.
The villa
The villa’s total surface area of more than 300 sqm is divided into two levels. The ground floor is accessed by two entrances and consists of a hallway with 3 cosy bedrooms (2 with a sea view) that sleep up to 6, a modern bathroom and a wide stairway leading to the grand first floor.
Most of the first floor is taken up by the magnificent spacious lounge, complete with a large open fireplace and dining area, whose four French doors open out onto the huge balcony providing a spectacular view of the sea and the islands of the Adriatic Archipelago.
The first floor also accommodates the master double bedroom with a sea view, one twin bedroom and a splendid bathroom with a tub.
The lounge opens out into a studio area and a large, fully equipped hi-tech kitchen with an induction cooktop, refrigerator, oven and microwave oven, dishwasher, espresso machine, toaster, mixer, citrus press and hand blender and all other conveniences.
The back kitchen door opens out onto several garden terraces, accessible also from the front and the side of the villa, all on their own levels with outdoor dining and BBQ facilities, surrounded by rows of lavender and oleander shrubs and tangerine, citrus, almond and olive trees all around the villa, plus rosemary, thyme, mint, sage and basic plants. Pick your favourite to add the special tang to any dish of your creation!
Free WiFi access is provided on the entire property. THE SPOT is equipped with an air-conditioning system and motorised remote-controlled blinds, a state-of-the-art Sonos wireless HiFi system that allows you to listen to your music collection in any room in the house, and a 50-inch Internet-ready LCD TV. Lovely villa in a beautiful location
The Spot is a gorgeous house in a little town with a beautiful beach. We were a group of 10 (three generations) and the house was spacious, spotless and lovely.
The house: nice modern kitchen, good size bedrooms (A/C only in those upstairs, fans downstairs), big living/dining room, big balcony with comfy furniture and unbelievable sea views, shady terraces with comfy seats and pretty views.
Location: very cute small town with restaurants, a bakery a few feet away (kids walked on their own), pizza place very close by, a great walking path in town, and hiking paths right from the house, minimal traffic, lots of restaurants, grocery stores, fruit stands, etc. A bit of a drive to all the famous locations (1.5 hrs to Split, 2.5 hrs to Dubrovnik, 2 hrs to Krka). Town of Makarska is 40 min away and has lovely restaurants, cute streets and is just a nice place to go for the evening.
Beach: right across a quiet road from the house and absolutely perfect. We just went in our swim suits without even taking towels. Calm, warm and perfectly clean water. Water sports rental right there - paddle boats are great fun and not expensive at all. There are pebbles, so bring water shoes.
Owner: Luka is very easy to work with and very responsive, any small issues or questions that we had were addressed immediately.
Restaurants: We went to two restaurants recommended by Luka and both were incredible. One was Galeb - we had a balcony with perfect views to ourselves and the food/service was amazing. Call at least a day ahead for a reservation. We also went to Konoba Kalalarga in Makarska for a special anniversary dinner with the whole group and had an amazing experience, with family style great food, and a beautiful private room. Highly recommend both places, as well as the pizza place next to the house.
Overall, a great experience - all ten of us, from the six year old to the sixty year olds, enjoyed the house and our vacation very much!

A Beautiful ‘Spot’
We are a family of five with three teenagers and we were fortunate to stay in Luka’s villa for two weeks in August 2018. The villa has a prime location at the end of the pretty village of Zaostrog. The beautiful Adriatic Sea and the stoney beach are only metres away. The first floor of the villa offers spectacular scenic views and we enjoyed the wonderful sunsets each evening.
The villa is ‘spotlessly’ clean with a cool, modern and comfortable interior and had absolutely everything we required for our stay. We particularly liked the accessibility to local restaurants and shops, all within walking distance. We also had the use of two bicycles which allowed us to explore the stunning coastline every morning.
Luka was a very attentive and responsive host and we hope to return to his villa in the future.

Best vacation ever
The villa exceeded the high expectations we went there with and there was plenty of room for all 10 of us to eat, sleep and relax comfortably together.
We could have happily stayed in the villa the whole 7 days and never go out. It was like a home away from home.
I cannot rate this villa and the service the owners provided highly enough.

More spacious than we expected
I stayed here with my family and cannot speak highly enough of the villa. There is so much to do in the village with an abundance of good restaurants.
Sitting watching the sun set with a glass of wine on the terrace was one of the highlights of the holiday and the views will stay with me and my family for a long time.

Beautiful villa with spectacular views only few st
Upon arrival we were absolutely amazed! It is the most beautiful house we ever visited on the coast!! We couldn't believe it and the host was so warm and welcoming. Throughout the week they helped us and would be there for anything we needed. The fantastic views will inspire you to take some photographs, and the sights that you will capture will continue to amaze you over and over again. Terraces with tangerine trees and wonderful gardens, is ideal place for relaxing and exploring the beauties of this place. There were so many different areas to sit and eat to get the most out of the day You can arrange for well known local chef to deliver all sorts of amazing Mediterranean food right to the house. This was a great help for us on the first day as we were just settling in and didn't have time to get food. The villa is not very far from the village at all, a really nice walk down. I would absolutely love to come back here! And I have been recommending it to all my friends!

Wonderful quiet family holiday
We have recently spent 10 days at this wonderful house together with our two kids. The villa is beautiful and well maintained, you can see that the owners really love this house and have taken good care of it. It is decorated with taste and attention to detail, no object is out of place and nothing is missing. What I appreciated immensely is that it was impeccably clean, even in not so obvious places as the kitchen drawers and cupboards. Is was definitely the cleanest
rental house in which I've ever been.
We only used the top floor which has the master bedroom and a second bedroom almost as spacious. The living room is the nicest place to be in the house, it is very spacious, lots of light and a balcony from where you can watch the sunset over the sea. The ground floor is cooler (Croatia can be extremely hot in July), though some people might complain a little too dark.
The kitchen had everything you needed - saucers, glasses, pans, toaster, coffee machine, dishwasher, washing machine. Everything was new or almost new.
The garden is on various levels and has lots of shade. The inner courtyard behind the house is a great place to have dinner in privacy. There is also a barbecue, sun umbrellas and folding chairs you can take to the beach.
The owners did everything in their power to make us feel welcome. They expected us with a nice cold prosecco :) and provided every info we needed regarding the region and things to do.
The house is directly on the beach - you have only to cross a small street which has little traffic. The beach is not private but since it's at the edge of the town the only people coming to it are those from the two-three holiday houses nearby. There is a bakery 15 meters from the house open all day.
Zaostrog itself is a small town 10-15 minutes walk away. It looked like the usual holiday spot with a few terraces - nothing fancy or elegant however. There are a
couple of places you can eat - we enjoyed most the villa Paskal which is halfway to the town and has tables overlooking the sea. The fish & traditional Croatian food were good, though not gourmet. The pizza place in town was also good for the children, esp at lunch. There is a medium-sized Konzum supermarket in Zaostrog which has everything you need.
We had a wonderful time at The Spot and would definitely recommend this villa to any family / families looking for a relaxing holiday in a quiet place.

The villa has a very spacious layout. We had a choice of three amazing terraces for drinks every evening, watching the sun setting over the mountains. I would recommend this villa very highly and the surrounding area has plenty of great restaurants and beautiful beaches.
The spacious rooms are all equipped with spotless bathrooms, functional and modern design.
Cleanliness is exceptional, open areas equipped with outdoor furniture.
On our first morning we woke to glorious sunshine, which stayed with us for the whole of our one week stay, and a magnificent view over surrounding islands and mountains.

Fabulous family holiday
It is a superb villa, with high quality furnishings and crisp white linens. The attention to detail is what makes this a beautiful home with high quality fittings and also it is spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable.
There are mandarins and lemons growing in the gardens of the villa, which we found quite cool and very 'Mediterranean'.
A fantastic villa with all the comforts, the latest appliances, dishes and utensils for every need.

High quality villa in excellent location
The location was amazing and far better than advertised.
This beautifully maintained home allowed us to house 10 people comfortably. The prime location near the beach allowed us to relax and feel more at home while on vacation, in a space with a very well-equipped kitchen for home cooked meals, a grill for summer bbqs and outdoor dining.
Overall extremely clean, organized, and thoughtfully designed. Definitely worth coming back.

Amazing
The villa was exactly as described and lovely and clean. The sun is on the garden for best part of the day. You have a choice of more then one terrace to enjoy the shade while you listen to the wind, the sea and the crickets in the background. The view from the master bedroom cannot be beaten.
