About this house rental
From the Owner, Elizabeth Pearson
E Street Casita
New: The City of Cathedral recently passed laws to phase out rentals of less than a month (30 nights). The casita will only be available on a 30-nnight Agreement or longer.
Thank you for considering my special property for your getaway.
Please read the ENTIRE write-up prior to contacting the owner or booking as we want to make sure you are aware of all the amenities, property information, policies. etc.
With nearly 200 rentals at the property, I hope you will fall in love with my personal 2nd home property as much as others - and I - do/have.
Two units on site, but YOU get exclusive use of the ENTIRE outside property (including the spa and pool) when you stay in the casita (Unit B). Owner - nor anyone else - is ever at the property when the casita is rented.
Unit B: La Casita Plumeria (the rental unit) - A cozy, romantic Palm Springs-close, 525-square-foot stand-alone casita in a large, private, quiet compound that will be ALL YOURS for your stay. No one else will be on the property when you are there.
With beautiful mountain views, this is a no-hassle, quiet retreat near the end of a dead-end street where you can truly chill and rejuvenate! (The other stand-alone unit on the property is not used when you rent the fully-furnished casita.) Your retreat does not share a wall with another unit; it is NOT a condo and is not in a cookie-cutter homeowner association.
The casita (which is like a large efficiency apartment) is decorated in southwest modern décor (gray, white, black, cream). Envision a large studio with an open bedroom (modern, queen-sized platform bed ... low-to-the-floor) with 500-thread sheet count, quilt coverlet and duvet, a dresser and two reading lamps; and a
big room that is a combo living room (with modern, sleek leather sofa and chair), dining seating area for 2 and a full kitchenette (including 5' tall refrigerator with freezer), gas top range, convection counter-top oven (no full below-the-counter oven), crock pot, microwave, blender, all dishes, pots/pans, utensils).
The bathroom has a shower/tub and sink. A hair dryer is stored below the sink.
The casita also features wi-fi, flat screen smart tv (which provides for access to your own Netflix - and other - account/s) It also has a great bluetooth music speaker to connect your phone or i-Pad so you can listen to your own music.
Unit A is our personal home and we do not rent it.
The parking is outside the property gate. There are 2 parking spaces in front. No parking is allowed inside the gate due to unevenness on the gravel; it’s an insurance issue.
The setting:
The very large property is truly an oasis in the desert! It is surrounded by beautiful desert plants and plumeria and swarming with hummingbirds and mourning doves. The compound boasts a very large, 6-foot-high extremely private, solid fence. A security system is installed but the cameras are inoperable (inherited)except Note there are 2 Blink operable cameras: Each entrance and exit to the property is video recorded (camera aimed at the property entry gate only). There is a 2nd Blink camera on the side of Unit A (by alley). A lush desert garden, 5 ½-foot-deep saltwater swimming pool, and hot tub are ALL YOURS when you are there.
HOT TUB USAGE IS FREE! You turn the hot tub on one hour before you use it, and turn it off when you're done. It heats to 102 degrees. As the cost to have the hot tub on is $25 per hour to the owner, we ask that you turn it off immediately after use.
Renters also have exclusive use of the outside grounds including natural gas grill, outside dining table table under a shaded awning that seats 6, two lounge chairs, outdoor shower, etc.
The pool is not heated, but can be with a paid-in-advance fee of $150 for initial heat-up and $50 a day for each day you want it heated. This needs to be paid separately to the owner, in advance of check-in, by PayPal or check. The pool charges are owner’s actual cost; there is no mark-up. We do not recommend heating the pool from May through mid-October; the water is quite warm then. THERE IS ALWAYS AN ADDITIONAL FEE TO HEAT THE POOL; the paid-for heat setting for the pool would be set at 83 degrees before you check-in, by our pool service. Note: the pool is ice cold in November, December, January, Feb., March and early April, and very cold in late October and late April.
Check-in is at 2 p.m. Check-out is at 11 a.m.
We allow only one non-shedding, minimal-barking pet under 25 pounds; this is an additional non refundable fee of $50. No cats are allowed. Be sure to check on the VRBO reservation form that you are bringing a pet so they can assess the charge.
The property has beautiful views of the mountains. If you love hiking, you'll love this vacation area ... there are over 140 hiking trails in the Coachella Valley! And, for golfers, there are first class courses available to the public within minutes of the property.
Renters may use the washer and dryer. We encourage you to bring your own washer cleaning pods.
The pool man comes twice a week (Mon. and Thurs.), typically between 11 a.m. and noon. The gardener comes between renters.
Directions and Access Info are provided after the Agreement is received, in advance of check-in. (We will email the Agreement and after execution and receipt of same to owner by email, we will email the access info to your personal email address.)
Deposits are returned by VRBO within two weeks of check-out. If the pool is heated at your request and the fee has not been paid, it will be taken out of the deposit.
Absolutely NO SMOKING is allowed inside the Casita.
IMPORTANT! ABOUT CATHEDRAL CITY COVE
Located halfway between Palm Springs and Palm Desert, this community is large and consists of a population of both Anglo and Hispanic families THAT IS BEING GENTRIFIED. The California Cove area of Cathedral City, south of Hwy 111, has many artists, young people -- AND Hispanics who serve as the area's landscapers, pool cleaners, home cleaners and more. I personally rely on these sweet folks to over-see and maintain my property, keep my vegetation and tree-trimming in perfect condition, and clean my two units. They are good people who I trust implicitly. Several friends and I are purchasing properties in the area and improving them. As a former Mayor of a Southern California City, both my partner (an attorney who drives a high-end, high-performance car) and I feel safe being at the property and parking our cars there, out front.

Loved it so much I’m going back!!
Clean, nice, perfect little cozy place on the edge of Cathedral City. Lots of stars. Pool & hot tub. Owner responds quickly. She has an emergency contact for any issues. Only had one real
Misshap but the on site manager was there in minutes to fix issue. Issue was outside of owner’s control.

Lovely spot, felt safe
The location makes everything in the valley accessible. The pool and spa are quite nice and the spa particularly enjoyable on winter evenings. The Owner is accessible and responds quickly.
The property is large and the Casita has everything we needed for an enjoyable multi-week stay.

Great property, perfect for seclusion/relaxation
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Elizabeth’s property. The pool and spa were excellent and the outdoor space was tranquil without feeling too isolated. The unit was cozy but in a good way - just be advised that the A/C unit is in the bedroom only, though the overhead fans helped to circulate the air pretty well once you get the temp right in the bedroom area. Very well stocked and smartly appointed… and a great value! Will definitely keep this gem of a property in mind for future stays :)

Oasis in the desert
Great little oasis in the desert. My wife and I spent a week here celebrating our 40th anniversary. It is secluded and very private with a pool and hot tub. Great place to relax and get away.

Just what I needed
I wanted a place I could get away to and relax for a week by myself and that is exactly what I got! Everything was exactly as described in the listing. The casita was clean and organized and had everything I needed for my stay. The pool was perfect for relaxing on those hot days. The neighborhood was quiet and the property was secluded at the end of a dead end street. There are many restaurants and stores close by including Target and Trader Joe's, which was really all I needed. Elizabeth was easy to contact and was a wonderful host. I will definitely stay here again!

Private retreat
I love this property! I had exclusive use of the outdoor space-hot tub, pool, outdoor dining, grill and complete privacy. The casita is well equipped with plenty of towels, bedding, and kitchen ware. Nicely decorated and well cared for. I am already planning my next visit.

Secluded and private
Very enjoyable, secluded property and everything coded, so no need to carry keys. Neighborhood not as expected, but not a problem. So close to one of the casinos and inside the property was private and relaxing. Would definitely stay again.

Resort like
The yard is private and has beautiful landscaping, a heated (optionsl) pool with a Baja shelf and a jacuzzi. Inside is clean and modern. At the end of quiet street. About ten minute drive from downtown Palm Springs and a few minutes from local restaurants and retail. Will definitely stay there again.

Excellent outdoor space. Exceptional! Looking forward to returning.
E Street Casita is the perfect place for a couple looking for privacy (especially during a pandemic) and generous outdoor living space. The pool is the highlight. We spent all day under the umbrella soaking our feet in the water while we enjoyed the view of the garden and hills. The host was a pleasure to work with and very responsive. We were a bit put off by the many cameras but got past it. The casita is cozy and well stocked with essentials. The set-up was very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the ability to have our dog with us! Highly recommended!

Relaxing Weekend
We enjoyed our stay at the casita very much. The whole experience has been so pleasant that we are coming back in December. The outdoor area with the pool and garden was where we spent most time and liked the most. Elizabeth, the owner, is attentive and on top of all things. Definitely, a wonderful and relaxing weekend.

We very much enjoyed our stay! It was the perfect size unit for my boyfriend and me. It is a little small, but everything was well thought out and provided everything we needed. No complaints at all! The outdoor area was HUGE and so so nice! I already miss the pool! It was quiet and relaxing and provided beautiful views of the mountains.
We will definitely be back!!

In these stressful times this was the perfect getaway. The property was clean, pool was great, and enjoyed the quiet setting and privacy. Close to shops and places to eat.

Peaceful desert retreat.
My wife and I spent 8 very tranquil days poolside, enjoying the surroundings and beautiful mountain views. The casita was cozy and had everything we needed for our stay, the pool and spa were amazing. We actually enjoyed that the casita was located in a more family oriented neighborhood and we didn't experience any excessive noise from neighbors or barking dogs, there were small dogs next door but they weren't nuisance barkers.
The restaurants in the area were good and there were even places to get dinner and cocktails within easy walking distance.
Communication with the owner was very prompt and the only slight issue we experienced (which wasn't even really an issue ) of a broken lounge chair at the pool was quickly resolved with a new one being dropped off.
I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a mellow relaxing getaway.

Perfect honeymoon getaway
My husband and I stayed here specifically to have a private pool and hot tub during a pandemic. We got much more than that, the entire property (minus the larger unit) was just for us and our studio unit was perfect for a couple.

Beautiful!
We really enjoyed our stay at the casita! Contactless check in was a breeze, the grounds are beautifully landscaped, and the casita was clean and comfortable. Between the fence that wraps around the property and the location at the end of a street that backs up to the mountains, you really feel a sense of seclusion and privacy, like you're in your own little world. We can't wait to go back!

Great Stay!
We had a great stay. The property was very comfortable and well stocked. Lots of pool and bath towels, and utensils for grilling and eating in. We were unplugged, stayed completely on property, and in the pool all day/evening. The pool's cabo platform is a game changer. The yard is large and full of mature cactus, etc. We'll be back.

Best Quarantine Birthday
We had the most incredible time celebrating my husbands birthday in quarantine. The property was beautiful, the house was spacious, and the bed was firm yet comfortable. The high fence walls made for the most relaxing and private retreat. We spent all day by the pool and grilled almost every meal. The outdoor shower under the stars was incredible. The ac cooled the house at night to prepare for another beautiful Southern California day. We can’t wait to return!

Perfect Getaway!
Elizabeth was wonderful to deal with- quick to respond throughout the process & even after when we realized my husband left his coat there. The place is an incredible retreat & functioned as a great alternative to a cancelled trip to Bali in celebration of my husband's 40th birthday! We spent all day in the pool & enjoyed grilling as we stayed on site for almost thes entirety of our visit. Will definitely come back again & already referred some friends!

Dessert oasis
This little jewel of a dessert oasis is in a nice central location for all our shopping and sightseeing necessities. With a private pool area that includes all the amenities and comforts you could ask for and nothing but an avian symphony in the background, it was an absolutely relaxing atmosphere. Made it hard to leave. Definitely coming back.

Cathedral City Charmer
Our stay at this property was wonderful. The casita is nicely outfitted, comfortly furnished and decorated with taste, but we spent a lot of time outside at poolside. The sense of privacy, landscape plantings and patio amenities are fantastic!
The owner was very responsive and genuinely interested in helping us explore the area with many thoughtful suggestions. The week flew by and we hope to visit again in the future.

Restful retreat
This is a wonderful spot for rest and relaxation. The patio is fabulous; sunny in the morning just right for yoga practice. The birds are lovely companions. The
neighborhood is quiet; no traffic noise, occasional barking dog and a few airplanes. The view of the hills is lovely as well.
The kitchenette is well appointed, plenty of towels for showering and the pool.
The hot tub is nice, though we needed sone extra time to let it warm up. The pool is very inviting, the chairs in the shallow will be very nice on a hot day.
We recommend this property and would definitely stay here again.

We had a wonderful time here. It was just as advertised and our pup loved the fenced in yard to run around in.

Lovely property, but
This little casita is perfect. The chairs in the pool are fun. Lots of towels and other thoughtful touches. Elizabeth is a very responsive hostess. The problems we had were nothing that Elizabeth could control. Barking dogs all day long!
