About this house rental
House, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10)
Relax at the Rose ....
'There is something ineffably serene about this house. It is a visual version of a Vivaldi Concerto or Handel’s Water Music. I sit and absorb the soothing impact of pale walls against honeyed woodwork, the abundance of flowing space and the unusual sense of tranquility that one feels here. My eye delights in the detail of the solid mantel-pieces that rest above the eight fireplaces, the perfectly chosen artwork that is redolent of a long-ago, somehow simpler, time and the light…always the glorious abundance of light that fills the house.' ...St Marys Magazine
A 1907 Historic Home located in the heart of the historic district of St. Marys, Ga. A traditional 'foursquare' design, and one of the first homes in the area constructed of an unusual type of block (known as granitoid, rarely seen in South Georgia).
The home has five bedrooms, three full bathrooms, a formal dining room and comfortable living room. While the home has been modernized (central heating and air conditioning, modern kitchen, and more), one can still appreciate the original details of hardwood floors, large windows, dramatically high ceilings and two large porches - all surrounded by a half acre of camellias, azaleas, roses, magnolia, oak, camphor, cedar and persimmon trees, scuppernong grapes and a variety of other lush plantings.
Saint Marys ....
For those of you who are not familiar with St. Marys, allow me to acquaint you with this wonderful small town. Located on the banks of the St. Marys River, the town is the second oldest in the U.S, following St. Augustine, Florida. It is in the Southeast-most corner of Georgia, nestled just west of Cumberland Island and east of Highway I-95. Jacksonville International Airport is only 30 minutes away. It is centrally located between Amelia Island/Fernandina Beach and Jekyll Island/St. Simon's Island/Sea Island. Once in St. Marys however, it feels a world away. Everyone greets you with a smile, and strangers wave hello. St. Marys was named The Best Small Town in America by Money Magazine, and is the site of the 2004 HGTV Dream Home. It was also recently highlighted in Southern Living Magazine.
The town is small and quiet with moss draped oaks and a charming atmosphere. The house is within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. Bikes and golf carts are available to rent. A kayak outfitter offers a variety of trips for all levels of experience. Or try your hand at fishing from the pier or in the river and tidal area. The Rose-Lovell House is just two blocks from the Cumberland Island Ferry and public boat ramp. It is a 45-minute ferry ride to what the Travel Channel has ordained as 'America’s Most Beautiful Wilderness Beach'. Stroll the trails and beaches and catch a glimpse of wild horses, dolphins, white tailed deer, armadillos, wild turkeys and a variety of other birds.
Stop in to the St. Marys Visitor's Center for information regarding activites, restaurants and local history. Meet at the flagpole on the waterfront to join the historic tram tour.
Head 45 minutes west to the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge. Take the guided boat tour and learn about the swamp inhabitants and its fragile ecosystem, or rent a canoe or kayak and see some of the wildlife up close.

The Rose Lovell House is a great place to stay. Our family really enjoyed the property, beautifully furnished and within walking distance to the riverfront, shops and local eateries. The host is very accessible and check in and check out were effortless. This home has a rich history, warm and inviting, and perfect for large family vacations. We enjoyed our stay!

Great property with such beautiful character. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Overall our stay was nice. The house is ancient and has many antiques, making some of my crew feel uncomfortable.
But I feel if you are in Savannah for the history and the ghost stories this would be the perfect house for you.

This historic property is a beautiful, comfortably furnished, well-maintained house. The kitchen was well equipped with everything that we needed to cook meals. Beth, the property manager, communicates quickly and was very helpful. The accommodations exceeded my expectations and we had a wonderful time when we were there.

Our family gathers to attend the annual FCA golf tourney that honors our son who passed away in 2013. He was a golfer on the Camden team and active in FCA during his school years. Our family loved this house as it was perfect for just hanging out together after the golf event. It was much better than hotels! What a great house. Well maintained for a 100 year old home. Everything we needed was provided. Hoping to stay here next year!

Beautiful historic home, very well furnished and equipped. Had everything we needed for our 4 generations to enjoy our time together, play games and cook together. Great location for easy walk to riverfront, playground and churches. Sharing bathrooms was not a difficult as expected. Thanks for helping us make more family memories.

We enjoyed our stay. The location was ideal and close to everything! The rooms and kitchen worked well for our family, but I wouldn’t recommend this home for multiple families or friends, as the bathrooms are small and down the hall. Plus, 2 have showers and one only a tub. Coffee maker worked well and we found the basic kitchen supplies we needed. Home was easy to heat. I was disappointed with the entry as we arrived. The front porch is in need of some cleaning and upkeep and the front yard is mostly sand. There’s just one parking space in the drive due to a shared driveway w an apartment in the back that we weren’t aware of There is street and side yard parking so it worked. Not as much privacy since tenant was there. Overall, we were comfortable and the check in/out process was very easy. I liked the keyless entry also.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Rose Lovelle house. Everything about the house was fantastic. My 5 year old said it was a castle, not a house.lol We were lucky enough to book for the 4th of July. WOW, Saint Marys puts on a great festival, and the fireworks were amazing. We had a wonderful time and hope to return in the future.

My extended family and I had a wonderful time. The house was plenty big enough for the 10 of us, and it was centrally located so we could walk to most of the activities and restaurants. I highly recommend the Rose Lovell House.

This 1907 home is stunning--gorgeous wood floors, many original fixtures, fun "secret" passageways between the bedrooms, high ceilings, tall windows, and roomy porches. Yet, as the listing shows, it is completely modernized for us twenty-first century folks. Our group of nine had plenty of space to dine, relax in the living area, and spread out when we needed privacy. The short walk to the adorable downtown area and Cumberland ferry was a huge plus. Amelia Island was an easy 45-minute drive. My only suggestion is to alter the bedroom descriptions. There are actually three king beds, one queen, and two twins. Another huge plus! We would stay here again.

This historic house is beautiful and has obviously been well cared for for over 100 years now. We were very blessed to have plenty of space inside to eat together and meet as we had an office retreat. The rooms are generous and comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We would definitely come back if we’re ever in the area!

My family had an amazing time here. Everything was very clean and the house is beautiful. We had a total of 10 family members stay here and it worked out perfectly. I’m the evening we loved gathering in the living room to wind down. Each morning we cooked breakfast and the kitchen was well equipped to do so. Overall just a great place to stay with tons of history!

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, historic home on a quiet street! You can walk to the ferry to go to Cumberland Island (get reservations in advance as we saw people without them turned away!). The property is well cared for and lots of little details made our visit comfortable. Some of our family didn't go to Cumberland and felt it a treat to just relax in the house. The sheets and pillows were soft and the beds good. One king bed is downstairs which was important for one of our people with a bad knee. Wifi worked well. Nice TV. A few lightbulbs burned out while we were there and the toaster didn't work. I let them know and it was fixed by afternoon. The kitchen had plenty of things like salt and pepper, sugar, spices, etc. and useful cookware. Coffee maker could accommodate single serve pods or grounds. Only about 10 minutes from a Winn-Dixie for any other essentials. No unreasonable list of demands for checkout.

Our family had a wonderful time at Beth's beautiful home. You can easily walk to everything in town including to the ferry for magnificent Cumberland Island. We were three generations, grandparents to an infant and we were all very happy. This spacious, well-built home manages to be both elegant and comfortable. We all hope to come back soon.

We thoroughly enjoyed our family vacation at St Mary’s. The was was perfect for our size family and was as advertised. Everything was very clean and in good working order. Great location. You can walk to marina, water park and plenty of restaurants and shops. Enjoyed seafood at Locals and food and live music at Seagles saloon. Playground at river park was very nice for small kids. The water park was fun and well maintained. Cumberland island was a great place to spend a day. Ruins, horses and beaches were very nice and interesting. Loved our vacation at Lovett house and St Mary’s.

Perfecto home for our vacation!
We had five adults and five children in our family trip and this house was perfect!! It is a beautiful home with so much charm! We enjoyed all gathering around the large dining table for meals and games. The beds were all very comfortable and plenty of linens, blankets, pillows and towels were provided. The host was wonderful and easy to reach for any questions we had. We would love to return sometime!!

Great House and Location
I loved the town of St. Mary's and the house was in a perfect location. The house fit our family and we enjoyed having a big breakfast and dinner each night there. We took some day trips and enjoyed the 4th of July activities during the long weekend. We even went paddle boarding at the waterfront there. Don't hesitate to book it.

We just loved this property and it’s location. We were a family of 7 adults and 3 children ranging from 1 to 11 and it was perfect. The bedrooms are HUGE and everyone said after first night the beds were super comfortable. The kitchen had everything we wanted or needed. The location….wonderful. We walked to restaurants, shopping and parks. Beautiful area - loved everything and cannot wait to go back.

Priceless family gathering
The Rose Lovell house offers a spectacular experience. The absolute best house rental we had ever. Eight adult children surprised dad for his 80th birthday. The homey accommodations were comfortable and spacious and allowed for a large gathering without being on top of each other. Every detailed is plan fully taken care of. The ideal location provides for a quick walk to the Cumberland ferry, restaurants, Amelia Island, bike riding and more. Perfection.

We loved this house! It was a perfect size for our girls weekend. The dining room was the perfect spot to fit all of us for games, laughing and staying up late to talk! It was nice to walk down to the harbor and watch the sunset each evening. Our second favorite place was sitting in the rocking chairs on the front porch. Thank you for such an amazing time.
