About this house rental
This property was fully renovated in 2021 with all new vinyl plank flooring throughout both living rooms and all 3 bedrooms, new locally crafted kitchen cabinetry, new bathroom with fully tiled shower, new ceilings w/ bright LED lighting and a gas fireplace insert.
The camp has a large master bedroom with a fairly new king size bed and two small bedrooms. One with a brand new queen and one with a full bed. There is one central bathroom with a shower. The main living area is open concept, and the living room opens to a well equipped kitchen and dining area. Off of this living area is an additional living room that also has a bunk bed (full on bottom and twin on top) as well as a recliner couch and a futon. With an air mattress (not included) it comfortably sleeps 5-6 kids (one on the couch, 1 on the futon, 2-3 in bunks, and 1 on an air mattress, etc.) At camp level, there is a large fire pit area, grilling area, decent sized yard, and two decks (one in front of camp, the other over-looking the beach at the top of the stairs.) The stairs lead you to a landing where you can access the top of the boathouse, which includes a large deck and "social room" with a bar, and possible additional sleeping area. There is also a pull-out couch. The lake level includes a large sandy beach, 2nd fire pit, two docks, and the boathouse. The property faces northwest and gets FULL AFTERNOON SUN (a substantial benefit that is most often over-looked.) The wood stairs are sturdy and level, but potential renters need to understand that going up & down stairs is required to get to the boathouse and beach levels. This property has excellent swimming. It's about 18" deep at the break wall and gradually gets deeper. It's about 5' deep at the end of the dock, perfect for jumping off the dock. The lake floor is sandy until about 5-6' deep and then it's a lot of pine needles. There's a big wooden float/dock out about 25 feet from shore- it belongs to our neighbors and IS NOT ours, so please don't use it. There is cable TV in the main living room, and a second TV with DVD player (no cable) in the 2nd living room. There is also high speed wifi internet & the password is taped to the refrigerator. There is baseboard heat, but it shouldn't be necessary during summer rental months. There's no AC, but it rarely gets very hot in the camp as there's screened windows you can open on three sides (it typically gets nice and cool at night, even in summer.)
A few random talking points:
- Linens are not provided.
- The garage is locked and off limits as it is used for owner storage. We have close friends as neighbors and they will have access as they have some things in there as well. (THIS DOESN'T APPLY TO WINTER SEASON RENTERS - the 3 car garage/barn will be open for the winter season for sled storage)
- Please don't allow boarding, climbing on, or otherwise fiddling with the barge in the boathouse.
- There is a short window between renters. The camp absolutely must be left as clean or cleaner than it was upon your arrival. We simply don't have the time to do everything required between renters and clean up a messy camp. Given the pandemic situation in 2020, we now have a property manager that quickly goes through the camp between renters to disinfect high touch areas and surfaces with commercial disinfectant. They also do any quick touch-ups that may have been overlooked, HOWEVER, we still must rely on renters to clean thoroughly as the cleaners are there for a short time and must focus on disinfecting.
2023 Rate (Saturday-Saturday only) is $2800. 3 night minimum stay starts one week after Labor Day weekend.
*These rates do not include VRBO fees, refundable damage deposits or damage protection policies (we require one of the two) or a recently imposed 5% county occupancy tax.
A well was drilled in 2018 allowing for four season use. We will not rent by the week in the winter, and will only rent the full season (Jan 1st until the snow melts and trails close) to one party. Owner will have propane full (there is a propane wall heater, a new propane fireplace, and also electric baseboard) and pay cable/phone/wifi. Renter will pay electric and any additional propane beyond the initial 200 gallons (both tanks full) as well as plowing and trash removal if needed/desired. Garage will be available for sled storage (approx 4 sleds... maybe 3... maybe 5?) Don't pay attention to nightly rates on this site. Let's discuss the specifics and I will send you a custom reservation for approval. We are priced below market at only $8,000 for the entire winter season.

The property was absolutely stunning with awesome sunsets

I would move in tomorrow for my primary house if I could. It is such a beautiful place that feels so peaceful. The house is very modern but a great cabin feel. I would recommend this place to anyone for sure.

One of the best places we’ve rented on the big lake.Well equipped kitchen. Boathouse deck was great! Even had a tie out for our dog. Highly recommend.

Getting into the camp was super easy. Upon arrival, the camp was very clean. It was great to have a spacious living area (kitchen, living room). The fire pit area was very nice. Having two nice, working grills was great! The bar and the boathouse was one of the best spots one the water! We love being out there day and night. We were so excited and glad to be able to be able to bring our dogs. It’s rare to have that option. A few improvements we thought-the ladder to access the water definitely needs to be replaced. It’s broken and is unsafe, more sand needs to be added to the “sandy” beach. Also, the rugs inside the house I would get rid of especially since they can’t be washed. If a washer and dryer could some how be added that would be fantastic!!! The bedroom where you have to walk through another bedroom is somewhat of an inconvenience but not that big of a deal. Overall we really liked this camp.

This property in Bham was perfect to accommodate our family. Spacious and had all of the necessities we needed for a long weekend stay. We enjoyed the sunsets!

A great 4 night early fall getaway. Beautiful setting, kayaked every day, and the rooftop bar on the boathouse was enjoyed every afternoon/evening! Sunsets at the rooftop bar will likely be some of the greatest memories for our family. Grilled almost every night - except for one, total downpour so we did dinner at the Pine Tree Inn (~5 minutes away). Kent was very responsive throughout the journey. Highly recommend.

Beautiful rustic house on the water. We capitalized on the use of the kayaks and paddle board (pontoon and jet ski were not available for use). Quiet and water was absolutely perfect temp! Close to Old Forge and golf courses. Other than the biting flies and mosquitoes we all rated the week a 9! One thing: we didn't mind cleaning the place before we left but could not mop the floors since there was no bucket nor swiffer sheets to be found anywhere. Also I would suggest a dish drainer be purchased for washing the dishes. All in all, it was an excellent week - thank you! Many laughs and memories to take home. Owner was great too - got back to me quickly with answers to questions!! I am assuming he is not the property manager but if he is than I would change my rating to a star 5 on the above question.

2020 has been a toight year so a lake house vacation with leaf peeping, fishing & kayaking was in order. This is a great house for couples, groups or families. Beautiful view, a very very well stocked kitchen, and great location. A quirky layout but hey it's a vacation house & we were very comfortable! It was a chilly week but such a beautiful area. We want to go back again next year!

Kent's camp on Brantingham lake is perfect. Camp was neat and clean upon arrival, lots of parking space. Needs a bit of updating, but overall was perfect for everything we needed. The beach/lakefront is wonderful and we spent quite a bit of time in the boathouse. Perfect spot to sit to watch the sunsets. We enjoyed having two fire pits to sit around. Kent was very easy to get a hold of and helpful when we had questions or concerns. We hope to rent again next summer!

Nothing more to be said. Was our second year here and it was better then the year before. Great communication with the owner and everything we needed was there.

We had a great week at this camp and the location on Brantingham lake is perfect! It was an all around relaxing week of boating, swimming, kayaking, and campfires etc.... House is a little dated and bringing all of our linens was not ideal, but it more than met our needs and we were very happy with it. Wait until you see the amazing view from the living room window! Kent was very quick to respond to any questions and we would love to rent his place again in the future.

Beautiful, clean property and wonderful owners. Also, pet friendly so we were able to bring our 2 golden retrievers that loved the lake. We love this property! Very easy transaction and check-in process.

Owner was great and very easy to deal with. This was our first time using vrbo and he made it super easy! The property was just what we were looking for. It offered everything that was listed and we enjoyed our stay. We already rebooked for next year.
The camp / cabin is just that a camp / cabin there are things that could be fixed or tidied up but then again its a camp and not the Ritz. Camp is located on a paved road which is open to atv's and made our stay even better. We rode right from the door step to all of the Lewis county trails you can think of. Neighors were very friendly and courteous. All your supplies can be bought in Lowville about 20 mins away I would suggest hitting Miller's Meat Market for steaks and what not. The location is great you feel away but your not to far away for anything if you need it. Wifi worked great in the camp...just wish it work down at the boat house for music. We couldn't get connect to the blue tooth player in the boat house but we brought a portable speaker with us anyway. Boat house could use a little TLC but is served the purpose and was nice to sit at during the day to watch the activity on the lake. Fishing was okay (only caught 2 fish) from the dock and i'm sure if you brought a boat it would be better. I would suggest bringing your own grill as both the propane and charcoal grilling surfaces are very rusty and I couldn't get them clean (we just wrapped foil over them). Camp is stocked with most things you would need as far as kitchen utensils. One thing we missed / didn't enjoy was no cable tv to the master bedroom (not a big deal we're just use to watching tv as we fall alseep). Tv in master was out dated for our firestick also. Master bedroom stays a little warm so bring a fan...there is a celling fan which helps but we were happy we brought one too. Camp is dog friendly which was very nice our 17lb terrier enjoyed it and settled right in. Hope this helps and give you a little more info.

We absolutely loved this location and property! Very nice, lot's of room, loved the lake, the boat house, and the owner is great, too! We will definitely be back here again. We highly recommend this location.

We were able to comfortably sleep 9 adults and 1 child. The open concept kitchen/dining/living area was wonderful. We especially liked the yard and campfire area. There was plenty of room for a corn hole tournament! The dock and deck areas had lots and lots of sun. The sandy beach was a nice option. The swimming area was perfect! We took many walks/runs down Long Point. The stops to the dock provided a lot of exercise, too. Our 88-year old mother was even able to manage herself on the well-built steps that have a few resting landings along the way! I would definitely stay here again with 8-10 people.

Was looking for a private getaway in our favorite spot- Brantingham. This was perfect! We were able to use the kayaks that were provided and enjoy the boat house. Kent was quick to return answers on any questions we had. Very nice camp- thank you for sharing with us!!

We have stayed at this beautiful spot twice now and it doesn't disappoint. The location is ideal - great view, great fishing, and great swimming. The boathouse and deck is where you'll want to spend most of your summer days.
The accommodation is exactly as described, clean and rustic.
Home receives a good cross breeze, so even on the hottest of days, you will be comfortable.
Love that there are two places to choose for a campfire - on beach or near house - and both are very nice. Large picnic table for outdoor dining near the home. In boathouse, there is a nice bar-type setup with bar stools plus a smaller table and chairs. Two chaise loungers and adirondack chairs are also there on boathouse deck and beach.

My family of six adults and one infant stayed here last week. The property was as expected and described by owner. It is a very comfortable property with lots of windows providing a nice cross breeze for those days when it is hot. We enjoyed the fire pit near the house. There is a second fire pit down by the water with enough sandy beach to play "washers". Our favorite part of the property was the boat house which has a nice bar area for eating on, enjoying a beverage etc. Inside the boat house, we tapped into the nice sound system and that room is big enough so that we brought my grandson's swing and jumper down for him when we wanted to get him out of the sun.
Several of our family members used the kayaks provided by the owner and the fishing was very good. The view from the house is beautiful and the sunsets were amazing. I would definitely recommend this to future renters. We plan to return in the future as well.
For supplies, we would recommend the super Walmart in Lowville (about 25 minutes away). They had everything we needed. Also, the Ford Dealer in Lowville has fantastic customer service should you need their services. My dad hit a deer on the way to visit us for the day and he was welcomed there while waiting for a tow truck to take the vehicle back to his home town. Maple syrup available on Route 177 just outside of Lowville; light, medium and dark. $40 per gallon and $25 per half gallon.
