About this cabin rental
Log cabin features fantastic views, with privacy on a serene mountain side. Be lulled to sleep by the cool wispy mountain breezes and the sounds of the river down below. On the covered back porch, relax in several log rockers and watch the clouds float by and the ever changing skyline of the Smokies. B-B-Q your catch of the day or your favorite meat on the grilll; or enjoy picnic on on the Amish picnic table on the back porch. Hikes up and down the mountain display laurel, wildflowers, blue & black berries private road. We regularly seen flocks of wild turkey, deer, rabbits & other wild life.
Plenty of comfy furniture to laze away a rainy day & listen for the dramatic raining sounds over the metal roof on the big rocking porch. Cozy up in front of the stone fireplace. 2-Satellite TVs with DVD & VHS with library of kid-friendly movies. We have just over 1 gigabyte of data available per night of stay; and we can get more upon request for small fee.
Just down the scenic 4 mile road past two amazing waterfalls (pictured below) is the launch site for rafting the Nantahala. Just 4 miles the other direction is the beautiful Nantahala Lake. Three rafting companies conveniently close to drive. NOC approximately 6 miles from river launch site. **Note, the steep inclines on our gravel, mountain road were just recently paved which should make our road passable by any 4-6 cylinder vehicle. (Please note: our town is Topton; Bryson City is about 35-40 minutes from us.)

This property is up where you can see the valley and the mountains across from it. It’s quiet with everything you need for a short, medium or long stay. We unplugged as well as watched the NFL season opener. Day trips nearby and further are spectacular.

Nearby you have Lake Nanthaha, Nanthahala River, Bryson City, hiking to observation towers, mountain biking and about 1:15 from Ocoee River. Beautiful country.

It was great. Driving into town was beautiful and the people were so nice.
Only one complaint was the lighting in the bathroom was lacking. They could use more.

The view was exceptional. Cabin was stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed the outdoor fire pit and grilling out while looking at the beautiful mountains. Slept well in the king bed upstairs.

The view is spectacular. The cabin is clean and very cozy. There is plenty of hiking trails nearby. We enjoyed our stay very much, and spent a ton of time out on the porch enjoying the view. A qarning about the driveway up to the cabin: its steep and curvy. Highly recommend doing it in daylight the first time. We had our Camaro with us and it made the trip up the hill without any problem.

The cabin was very nice and well maintianed. The back porch view was truly amazing durning the fall colors. The road to the cabin is not motorcycle acessible unless using a small trailer to pull bikes up and down. Great location for the lake and a Wayah rd is a must to travel on and take time to enjoy. I would recommend and revisit this cabin. No cell phone service for us in the cabin (verizon).

The cabin is as beautiful as the pictures if not more. The kitchen was equipped with all the essentials that you need to cook.
One suggestion is to bring a few extra trash bags as the accumulation of trash can happen fast if you are cooking for a family and although there are trash sites on certain days, it was a bit of a challenge for us. But we made it work.
The other is, definitely want to arrive in daylight your first day. We didn't get there till 10pm and the road was a bit scary. However, after your first time you will be okay.
The host was very responsive and quickly.

We have stayed at this wonderful home for a month on three different occasions in the last three years. It is everything the write-up describes and much, much more. The view is the best one we’ve ever had, and we’ve been coming to the Nantahala Gorge area for at least 15 years. The house is comfortable and well stocked and there is a lovely one mile walk up and back down the mountain right out the door. I can’t say enough about this place and it’s owner, who communicates quickly when needed!

The drive up the first time is a little scary (especially at night), but you’ll get used to it. The place is cozy and clean. The back porch is the crème de la crème of this beautiful property. Every day the view was changed by the weather. Our cell phone didn’t work, but the limited internet data gave us the ability to text. It’s a getaway that truly helps you get away from all the ruckus of daily life. The river on Wayah road has numerous waterfalls, that rival most of the falls in the national park. You could spend your days photographing them, fly fishing, tubing, or rafting on the numerous rivers in the area. Don’t forget to fire up the grill for some grilled fresh trout you catch from the river. I’d rate this place a slice of Heaven above the clouds among a sea of green. Can’t imagine what this place looks like in the Fall. Do some research before you come, because there’s so much you can do. Or just hang out at the cabin and do nothing, s’mores around a campfire, games on the back porch. Either way, you’ll have a magical time.

The view is spectacular, and it is so quiet. Only saw the neighbors once and that is while they drove by the cabin going to their place. I would place this in the top 6 of all the VRBO's I've stayed in.

We loved our stay at the cabin. Clean and had everything you would need for a nice comfortable stay. The view was amazing. We could hear the waterfalls and river from the back porch. So peaceful and relaxing. So glad we stayed there for our family summer vacation.

Place is fantastic, exactly as described! Looking forward to staying there again this fall.

The property ideal for two although it can sleep 6. The indoor fireplace and thankfully firewood provided makes a very cozy cabin when the mountain rain weather hunkers in. Super benefit you can bring your animal babies. You must be country tough as in order to see this view you’ve got to have the know how to manage the steep drive in and out. The owner is awesome to communicate with.

We had a great time at the cabin. The view and everything you see in the surrounding area are just breathtaking. Be careful if you drive in to the area from US 129, the Dragon Tail portion can be crazy on a nice sunny Saturday like we encountered. The cabin had everything we needed, even some cooking oil and spices, a crock pot, and even some cortisone cream in the bathroom for first aid. There was also plenty of firewood. We enjoyed our quiet and private week long getaway with our toddler and pug, and would love to return someday when the toddler is big enough to enjoy the river sports! Access to GSMNP was easy through Cherokee we got to know the roads very well in just a week. We recommend the hike to the fire tower on the Appalachian Trail (tellico gap if I remember correctly) not far from the cabin. Also Bryson City is easy to get to and a nice little town to explore while visiting the road to nowhere.

We just wanted to hike , relax with a beautiful view. Love not having cell service since our family from Kansas don't know how to stop working. We came at peak time with a billion dollar view.

This was our second year staying a month in this cabin. We couldn’t be happier with it and it’s host/owner. Communication with her was superb. The house is beautifully furnished, comfortable (I was thrilled with the recliner) and has all the accessories you could ask for. While we had trouble with the TV a year ago, DISH TV was great this time and had better channels (except alas, no good sports). The internet works great and I could have Zoom work meetings with no problem except my fear of using too much internet. (The host reports she is trying to procure unlimited internet, which would make this stay absolutely perfect). This house has the best view of any we have stayed at in the area, and it’s road now has more blacktop than the year before and is easily accessible without 4 wheel drive).
We couldn’t have been more pleased with this ‘home away from home’ with its soothing sound of waterfalls in the background.

My wife and I loved staying at this property. We were there for 1 week. The views were spectacular, very few neighbors, and close to great trout fishing/motorcycle roads.

Peace, quiet, and restoration.
Judy was responsive with all of our needs. There was a mix up with the house cleaner but Judy reconciled the issues and clearly communicated with us. Overall, cleanliness was acceptable and the house keeper was waiting on me to leave the morning I checked out. The drive on Wayah Rd follows the Nantahala River, there are several pull overs to view waterfalls and explore along the river banks. The view from the back porch and having to disconnect from our cell phones was worth every penny spent. There is a land line for emergencies and how my husband called in the evenings to check in and enough wi-fi to download maps for your next day's adventures. I refused to check my work email :)
Bryson City is about 30 minutes away and 45 minutes to and hour for the Cherokee side of the GSMNP. The NOC is within 10-15 minutes from the cabin for watersports. We did not raft, but enjoyed sitting by the river listening to live music while drinking a local beer. I do recommend arriving before dark your first drive in to become familiar with the sharp turns of Wayah Rd and the steepness of the driveway. My front wheel drive SUV made it up and down the driveway without any trouble, even after it rained. I can imagine 4-wheel drive or chains would be necessary in icy/snowy conditions. It is also quite the hike if you don't feel like traveling but want to exercise and enjoy the magic of these mountains. The Rhododendron were in full bloom, lining the driveway along with many other wildflowers and berries. You don't get this view without a little work. The only sounds were birdsong, the river, and thunderstorms. There is also no light pollution, so I highly recommend turning off all the cabin lights and letting your eyes adjust for the best star gazing on clear nights. All appliances needed to cook were available. The rooms were comfortable sizes and plenty of space for all of us. My niece loved the "closet" bed. My only recommendations are a swing or somewhere to hang hammocks and a full length mirror upstairs.

Perfect mountain getaway!
The cabin was in a PERFECT location with a wonderful view. Quiet and private but still short drives to everything you want to do in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Definitely recommend and would happily stay again!

Wonderful stay with a great view
My family and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at this cabin! The view off the back porch is amazing. Cabin was well maintained and comfortable. The lake and river are both close by and easy to get to and the drive up through the mountains was a lot of fun. Great get away!

Mountain views, Nantahala rafting
This cabin had everything you need to experience the Nantahala Forest and river. The location is very convenient to Carolina Outfitters and NOC. The views off of the back deck are superb. You can even hear the Nantahala River from the deck. We enjoyed the new grill on the deck and the washer and dryer too.

Comfortable long getaway weekend
The 3BR log cabin was comfortable and well equipped for our family of four. It is quiet and has spectacular views of the Great Smoky Mountains from the porch. The property owner responded quickly after a minor glitch getting into the cabin. Please be aware there is little to no cell service at the top of the mountain. This is a perfect spot to unplug and and unwind. Hiking and white water rafting are close by as well as dinner by the lake just a short drive away.

Relaxing
The property is as described and the pictures DO NOT do the view justice. It is amazing in person. You can hear the river on the back deck and it just makes it perfect to sit out with your morning coffee, for a meal or just to enjoy it.
Despite being fairly secluded it is not a bad drive to Bryson City and there are plenty of places along the way to stop along the river to view waterfalls or sit on rock outcropping over the river. My son and I plan on returning.

Nice mountain retreat
It was a well kept cabin on a mountain road. The road really isn’t as intimidating as you’d think. We made the trip in a FWD SUV and it was fine. The surrounding roads are very scenic as well.

Such a beautiful slice of paradise
Perfect place to unplug and spend time offline and with family. The cabin is cozy and the porch is divine! A couple issues with things not working, but Judy was extremely diligent about fixing them. We'd stay there again - the area is beautiful and we found plenty to do. Perfect for nature lovers and families.

Nice place to unwind
Very nice cabin, everything you need is there. Clean, plenty of room, and nice view from the back porch of the sun setting. I will say if you're trying to make it up that mountain in a minivan or something like that, it may pose a challenge. I think due to the cold snap we experienced during our stay, we had all the ladybugs trying to get out of the cold. So they were somehow getting inside, but they did not really bother any of us. Nice and quiet inside and out. The only challenge was no service, so if you are trying to stay connected, this may be an issue. We had to get off the mountain to get service (CL service is sketchy at best all over this entire area, not just here.). That is why the communication rating.........as soon as I got there I wanted to report the oven handle was broken, but could not. Other than that, I was very pleased with my stay. The host did a great job providing proper description of the cabin.

WOW! Just Beautiful
What a magnificent location and the view is breathtaking. Making the drive up to the cabin along on Wayah Road with the waterfalls is something that has to be seen. Unbelievable beauty the entire way. The cabin had everything we needed and was very clean, comfortable and quiet. As the owner Judy says probably a good idea to make sure you have the essentials before you arrive as the closest town is Andrews and a bit of a drive. Now for those of you who have never been on a Carolina one-way gravel mountain road, it will be a nail biter for sure but is certainly manageable. Your first time up it's imperative that you arrive in daylight imo, it's easy to get turned around in the pitch black and risk driving off the side of a mountain. First time in daylight it's not bad at all and well worth it. We could not have been more pleased with the communication with the owners who were very nice after a small issue with the dish TV. All I have to say is thank you so much for sharing your beautiful cabin with us, it was our pleasure for sure!

Our NC getaway
Beautiful area-cabin very secluded-very clean-had every amenity wanted-had trouble with satellite dish but to be expected as the property is very secluded-host was upfront about no cell service and actually the whole area had little cell reception-it was marvelous! A true getaway!! We drove up on Wayah Bauld one day-highly recommended as a ‘day trip’ & went gem mining-also highly recommend that activity. Never wanted to go home!

Wow! Don't pass on this one if you are interested!
My husband and I had the very good fortune of being able to stay with our two small dogs for an entire month at this wonderful house! It sits nearly atop a mountain along with only two other houses (which are near but not too close), where there is a great one mile walking path which winds further up the mountain and back down. This is our 11th summer stay in the Nantahala gorge region and by far this home has the best view of anywhere we have stayed. The house is well appointed and has all that is needed in the kitchen (with the exception of a non-stick skillet!). The furniture is comfortable and I was delighted that there was a recliner as I suffer from neck and shoulder pain. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. We were extremely grateful that the cost was beyond reasonable for a month's stay and that pets were allowed. The owner is very helpful and nice, as others have stated. The only downside was the road up (which seems to be necessary in this area for such a great view). It was easy enough to drive up in our Honda Odyssey van with no front wheel drive and that wasn't the issue. We allowed ourselves to be intimidated (probably unnecessarily because there is little traffic on the road) because the narrow road does not allow two cars to pass each other and the turnouts are few, sometimes with a need to get very close to the edge of the cliff when two cars approached from opposite. directions. This was the only downside of the whole month. I believe if we had come in our smaller sized car I wouldn't have been so worried about going up and down. The internet has excellent and fast service but is limited in that (unless you pay extra and we did not) you cannot download or stream content and it is costly if you go over the allotted amount (we did not). But evidently you can pay extra in advance and thus you could easily and reliably "work from home" there because it is so stabile. We did not have such good internet anywhere else we have stayed, though we had never been limited to how much we could use. The house has DISH TV which goes out a good bit, requiring re-booting at least once daily. The grocery store in Andrews is about 40 minutes away, so arrive with some groceries in hand and also, as the owner advises, be sure to arrive before dark. We both highly recommend this place, would buy it if it were for sale, and hope to return one day.
