About this house rental

CHALET "JUCANYA" is located in front of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, "LAGO DE ATITLAN", 15 minutes from the center of Panajachel (walking).

It is a place to rest with family or friends, with a big beautiful garden, 30 meters distance from the lake shore and surrounded by 3 volcanoes, mountains and lots of vegetation.

The Chalet is located in a residential area in the village of Panajachel, very close to everything. It is very easily reached by car or bus. In the village of Panajachel, there are many typical shops, international restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets and everything you need to enjoy an excellent holiday or vacation.

Near the village of Panajachel, there are many other villages to know around the lake, which can be visited by boat, which can be taken in front of Chalet Jucanya. It is worth mentioning that the towns around the lake have the names of some of Jesus' apostles (San Pedro, San Lucas, Santiago).

The busiest and most built-up lakeside settlement, Panajachel ('Pana' to pretty much the entire country) has developed haphazardly and, some say, in a less-than-beautiful way. Strolling the main street, Calle Santander, crammed with cybercafes, travel agencies, handicraft hawkers and rowdy bars, dodging noisome tuk-tuks all the way, you may be forgiven for supposing this paradise lost.

Several different cultures mingle on Panajachel's streets. Ladinos (people of mixed indigenous and European heritage) and expats control the tourist industry. The Kaqchiquel and Tz'utujil Maya from surrounding villages come to sell their handicrafts to tourists.

This mix makes Pana a curiously cosmopolitan crossroads in an otherwise remote, rural vicinity. All of this makes for a convenient transition into the Atitlán universe – but to truly experience the beauty of the lake, most travelers venture onward soon after arrival.

The house was advertised for 10 people, it is big enough to fit 10, even more, however they charged us more per person after guest #7, which I did not understand. Also, when I first booked it they rejected it saying that the nightly rate was incorrect on Vrbo, that because it was New Year’s it was a different rate. Anyhow, the house is very nice and the location is great. The staff there and the entire process of booking it, etc not so much.

The house is simple but very nice and you have everything you need. It has a terrrace with some views to the sea and faces also the garden towards the other more modern (but smaller) villas. It is in walking distance to Panajachel center but quiet. There are private boats leaving directly in front of the villa.

By American standards, the villa was only medium, but is a virtual luxury villa compared to most of Guatemala. It was tasteful, clean and simple with all American amenities. Tha staff made our stay very easy. They arranged many things for us, including cooks on Thanksgiving, getting our clothes washed and a day boat trip on Lake Atitlan. Driving in this part of Guatemala is difficult, but we made it there and back without incident. Our thanks go to Aaron, the manager.

The property is just as beautiful as it seems in its pictures.

This was the perfect location for our family vacation! Aaron and his staff made us feel at home right away. The house was outfitted with everything we needed, One trip to the market and we were cooking up a storm! First towels and cleaning service every day made us feel like we were staying in a fancy hotel, but with all the comforts of home. Our daughter had a birthday while we were here, and Aaron arranged for a piñata to be set up while we were out on the town. We came back to a beautiful scene in the yard, ready for our daughter and her little cousins to enjoy. Every day we made a trip into town which was both scenic and pleasurable by tuk tuk. The service at Casa Jucanya is incredible, thank you Aaron! We certainly felt like whatever we needed was supplied, questions we had were answered, and we were treated with impeccable hospitality. We will most definitely be back, and we have already recommended this fabulous spot to all our friends!

Great House, Quite Location
Great House, Quite Location
This rental more than met my expectations. It's new and across the road from the lake. The views are incredible and it's in a very quiet area. Our host was there to greet us and make sure everything was in order. There is also a management office on the property staffed with friendly helpful people. The home is well equipped, the towels were new, and the bedrooms were large. The living area is bright and cheerful surrounded by windows. It had that Michigan/Wisconsin lake house feel. When we first arrived, I was a bit concerned about the location because it was further from the center of Panajachel than I thought, but the office can call for a tuk tuk making getting around town very easy and cheap. Panajachel, near the Circus Bar, has exploded into a major nightlife area so I ended up happy that the home was a bit farther from "downtown". It was very quiet and peaceful and the tuk tuk rides were fun. I wished we could have stayed longer and I would absolutely stay there again.
