The absolute best thing about this property is the back patio and pool and VIEW! It's lovely and the sunsets are amazing. Our dog also had fun running around and playing out there. Plenty of shade and ceiling fans, and the breeze it gets makes it comfortable all day. The only things missing were a longer couch or lounge chair to lay down and nap on the patio! But plenty of chairs to sit on. The house itself is spacious and very unique in decor, which we enjoyed. The only hiccup is that the AC thermostats are criss-crossed: the one all the way in the kitchen controls the upstairs and the one at the top of the stairs (in the open loft área) controls the downstairs. This made it hard to maintain comfortable temperatures in the 3 different rooms at night, and of course to make changes in the middle of the night was far from your own room. The owners had to come in w workmen and make a couple of repairs while we were there, but they were friendly, responsive and helpful. It's a great location to various activities, plenty of shopping, and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again!

Very comfortable & clean home. Everything we needed.
Perfect location for everything on our agenda. Friday night wedding at Vintage Villas (1/2 mile away), Saturday we spent on Lake Travis and Sunday we enjoyed the pool at the house.

This was the coolest most groovy home we’ve ever stayed in! Perfect for the kids and everyone had their space. You truly feel like the King of of Hill up here! Super responsive host and we will for sure be back again!

Fantastic and Fun Vacation Spot!
We loved this place!! Everything was just what we needed. The beds were comfy, the pool was relaxing, the view was spectacular, and the decor was fabulous! The views INSIDE the house were just as good as outside. Every time I looked around I saw another quirky tchotchke! We all agreed it was the vacation we needed and wouldn’t change a think (except maybe stay longer). Thank you for sharing your home!

Fun Vibes! Awesome Property
This house is ADORABLE!! It has all the 70s party vibes and the decor is fantastic. The outdoor area is super duper amazing. Lots of grass area for the kiddos to run and play, the pool and deck area is perfect and the views even better.
We have 4 kids under 8 and a dog. The house is plenty big for everyone. Super clean, lots of supplies, laundry area was ideal, and the property was close to everything from food, boating and 10 minutes from Starbucks.
The owner Pam must be super cool because the decor in this place is like a collectors dream of amazing stuff. While living the 70s dream for 10 days we enjoyed comfy beds, plenty of seating areas and a gorgeous community. I am a runner and found some great local roads to run on and enjoy the weather and area.
Quirks include the master bedroom does not lock, there are only 5 small spoons, the dishwasher kinda worked, there is no ice machine, and the fridge left a lot to desire. All the quirks were completely livable and we would gladly go again quirks and all.

Million Dollar Views!!
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property! The style is retro and beautifully designed. The kids loved it just as much as our fur babies. Coming from the City of Houston, the home was a perfect amount of space with tons privacy. The dogs explored the yard, we made s’mores, relaxed in the hot tub and can’t wait to go back. The views were absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Spring break 2022 was amazing!

Perfect house / location for Lake Travis getaway
This house is the perfect place for anyone seeking a Lake Travis getaway. The house comfortably accommodated 8 guys (beds for everyone), and it is a perfect location - easy access to many ramps/boat rentals (2 min drive for our day on the lake), grocery stores & restaurants, and easy to get downtown if you desire (easily able to uber to Rainy Street one of the nights).
The house was clean and check in/out was easy. The property owners are proactive about communication and were available for any issues, but we didn't have any!
The backyard with the grill, pool and hot tub is where we spent most of the days, and the view overlooking Lake Travis at sunset is even better than the photos provided.
All in all, 5/5 stars. I would highly recommend to anyone, and I will definitely consider this property again for future trips to Austin/Lake Travis.

Funky home with big views
We enjoyed staying at this property. We had 5 adults and 3 children and plenty of room to spread out. The house has a nice kitchen and pretty much everything you need. The coffee maker is a Kurig so you may want to bring coffee as only decaf on premises. Beds are OK. The King mattress upstairs slopes to middle. Queen bed downstairs was pretty good. Views are excellent and pretty new gas grill on patio.
Hot tub was on when we arrived and it was enjoyable. Lots of collectibles and antique toys inside the house. We had to make sure the small kids didn't touch which was somewhat taxing but we did it. Two of the children were 4 and almost 3. Good shopping close by and marina.

Expansive view of Lake Travis from the pool & large deck
Searching for a dog friendly vacation house with a pool & lake view we were very pleased to find this spacious home with a lot of vintage character. The backyard, large covered deck, pool & hot tub were private with great views and provided a fun but relaxed vacation atmosphere for our family meals & fun.

Wonderful place for family of 5 & dog to get away from it all. The pool, hot tub, ample back porch and deck were all excellent for relaxing and enjoying beautiful views of the lake along with sunrises and sunsets. The house is wonderfully mid-century modern and quirky with lots of history and details to see/explore. Beds are comfortable and sleep well. Lots of room to spread out. Quick access to marinas and tennis (just down the street). Quiet neighborhood. The only downside was the 2nd bathroom. The shower/tub/toilet room is quite compact which made it tricky for 3 older kids to share especially since 2 are very tall teens (over 6'3" and bumped heads and elbows on shelves, doors, etc.). This was not a big deal, just a minor inconvenience and they could use the master bath if necessary. Overall a great stay with a wonderful pool and house that we thoroughly enjoyed. Owners were very friendly, attentive and responsive too.

Perfect place for relaxing vacation
Amazing views of the lake, which can be enjoyed from multiple parts of the house, including the pool and hot tub. We had a delightful time watching the boats go by. House is comfortable and well set up. Owners are friendly and responsive. Everything worked out for us.

The home & view were wonderful.
We had rented another location & were notified the owner was not able to honor our dates. I found King of the Hill & from reservations to leaving, the process was so smooth. We Loved the view, the home is spacious & comfortable. Our family enjoyed the pool, hot tub, elbow room & the view can not be beat. Without a Doubt, we will be back for more family time. Thank you to the Newton Family for such a wonderful & relaxing vacation.

Outstanding
This house is outstanding. We really did enjoyed our stay. The house is an older home with a lot of collectables that took me back to when I was a kid. Nevertheless, this items are not there to touch but to view and think back. The kitchen had any and everything you could possibly need for a weeks time, if you enjoy cooking. We did not need anything but our food and drink. The view of the lake and river was beautiful. Hugh our host was on top of it.... Thank you Hugh, we look forward to seeing you next year.

Exceptional property with incredible views.
This house is absolutely gorgeous and the views of Lake Travis/Colorado River are amazing off the back porch while relaxing in the hot tub. The beds were really comfortable and the overall experience was perfect. Additionally, the owners were very responsive to our questions and were over the top accommodating while we dealt with a bank hold issue during payment. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and Hugh definitely made it enjoyable throughout the entire process.
The house is situated close to The Oasis, which has been a family ritual since I attended college at UT in Austin. Austin will always be our place to return to and if you’re looking for a quiet place to get away from things that make you forget the beauty of life, this is the place to be. Thanks again for everything, Newton family!

Wonderful Getaway!!!
This house could not have been better! I booked this property for a group of employees for our company retreat/getaway and everyone had a wonderful time. The view and sunset were breathtaking and the pool and hot tub were a perfect combination for the hot summer days and nights. The home was very clean and accommodating. We all really enjoyed the cool eclectic decor and Austiny vibe. The owners were a delight to work with very responsive. Hope to book again next year!

We were a party of 4 adults and 3 children and the house was the perfect place for us. The views are outstanding - not a better place in Austin! Loved the home and furnishings - so fun and the pool was the cherry on top! Our entire family swam everyday - the kids were in heaven! Everything you need to prepare your own meals and the beds were super comfy - Loved it and we will be back!

Perfect house, perfect location for Girls Weekend
The King of the hill could not have been more perfect for our girls weekend. Don't be too worried when you pull up and the house looks a bit dated. As soon as you walk in you are transported in to a funky little world that is unique and oh so cool! The pictures don't do justice to the views - it was really phenomenal. We had a blast using the pool and enjoying the sunsets over the lake. The house was super clean and the beds were really comfortable. The baths had trial size Aveda products which is a nice touch as well as plenty of towels which is rare. The owner is super responsive if anything comes up and returned my deposit promptly. Looking forward to returning!

Gorgeous Views!
A couple of friends and I had the pleasure of spending an unforgettable weekend at this rental property and can I just say VIEW GOALS! Pulling up to the property we were pleased to see that the parking was spacious, which is great for welcoming friends/family. Once we entered, I was immediately impressed with the unique decor and just the overall feel of the home as it gave off a sort of cool vibe. Our attention immediately then went to the deck/porch area where there was a nice sized pool to swim in, plenty of seating area, and a HOT TUB overlooking the beautiful Lake Travis. The sunsets were breathtaking and the stars that night were as bright as ever, which is perfect if you're looking to have a romantic night hanging outside. It was also nice to sit out there and enjoy our morning coffee. You can tell the owners put in a great effort into this property to make you feel at home, all whilst being on a vacation. Everything inside was very clean and well kept. I'll for sure be returning next time I'm in the area!

We had an fantastic stay at the King of the Hill! Such a fun New Years Eve with friends AND we were able to bring our dogs! Truly breathtaking sunsets over the lake, we loved hanging out on the huge backyard porch and in the hot tub. We also loved eating at the Oasis (owner suggestion). Amazing views of Lake Travis! We will be back!

King of the Hill @ Lake Travis
We rang in the new year by taking in the views of Lake Travis from the deck's hot tub with good company. The scenic background was incredible. The owners did a great job of decorating the house with unique decor. There's something to point out or talk about in every room. The house was perfect for accommodating our party of 6 with room to spare!
