Honu House, your Hawaiian retreat in KaMilo at Mauna Lani Resort — one of the best places on the Kohala Coast to spend your vacation.
Enter this Makani floor plan, and enjoy a fabulous panoramic view as the Kohala Mountains peel down from the sky and into the ocean to the north, with Maui in the distance. Now you know you have reached your home away from home.
On the main floor you will find an open floor-plan, kitchen, living-room, dining area, powder room and one of the guest bedrooms with ensuite bathroom. Open up the large pocket door to the outside lanai and enjoy the indoor-outdoor living style that we are so famous for on the islands.
The kitchen is exceptionally equipped with chef quality equipment and table settings for 12. The living area, just off of the kitchen boasts a 60” wall mounted 4K TV. The dining table accommodates eight comfortably with four additional seats at the oversized kitchen island. In the evening cook up some fresh catch on the "Lynx" gas grill and enjoy your dinner outside when the air is just right.
Towards the back portion of the upstairs you will find a small office nook, powder-room and then a generously sized guest bedroom with its own full sized bathroom, large closet and wall mounted 4K TV.
Heading downstairs and to the back we start with another large guest bedroom boasting two queen sized beds and a large walk-in closet, and another wall mounted 4K TV. This room even opens up onto a large downstairs lanai perfect for having a nice quiet cup of coffee in the morning. Just outside of this room is your detached guest bathroom, tiled, with elegant vanity and a tub-shower.
Also downstairs is the smaller guest bedroom with closet, currently decorated as a sitting-room with wall mounted 50” HD TV. The queen size couch folds out to make even more room to sleep if your group requires the space.
The master bedroom takes the cake of course, featuring a king-sized bed, wall mounted 4K TV and elegant en suite with travertine floor, glass and travertine shower, a double vanity and separate soaking tub. Whomever needs the most relaxing, peace and quiet gets the master bedroom!
Downstairs you will also find a full sized washer and dryer for all of your laundry needs. Detergent provided.
Condo is fully equipped with baby equipment, including two “pack and play” cribs, two baby gates, bed rails, and a high chair.
There is a two-car garage provides storage for all of the beach toys, chairs and umbrellas, boogie boards, putting-green gear, two OHM bikes, and a four-seater electric GEM. You will have one space inside and two parking spaces outside if needed.

We loved this home and location. The e-bikes and golf cart were soo helpful to have. Easy check in check out. The only thing was the bbq was not working properly and we had to pivot last minute with our bbq steak dinner plans. Would definitely stay here again.

This was our second stay at Kamilo 423, and it was just as good as our first. Kai is quick to respond and always helpful. Property is well equipped with everything you should need. Golf cart is great for getting to the beach or pool. E-assist bikes are a very nice addition. No complaints.

We had a multigenerational group of 7. This home was perfect! The kitchen is well stocked (kitchenware and cooking staples), the rooms are spacious, the home location in the complex is convenient to the pool (lovely!), the area is walkable but we sure enjoyed the golf cart and e-bikes! The garage also comes stocked with beach gear - boogie boards, snorkle gear, beach chairs, etc. I would love to stay here again!

This house delivered everything it promised. We were a multi-generational family of 8 and this was an ideal setup. Lovely, well-equipped kitchen and spacious bedrooms. Close to everything -- Hapuna Beach, shops, restaurants, pools and exercise area, Kona, Waimea, etc. Golf cart and e-bikes got a lot of use. We would definitely return!

The house is lovely. The kitchen really is a cooks dream and the whole main floor is a great gathering space for food and games. The Lanai was also really enjoyed but it is on the small size for 6-8 guests if all are out there together. Also, it is a neighborhood so it was noisy at times but also fun to see other families.
The 4th "guest room" has a pull out sofa that is very uncomfortable for any adult. We padded the mattress with padding from the portable crib that we didn't need to use and also added a few blankets on top of that but it still wasn't very comfortable for our adult daughter ( she didn't complain but we laid on the mattress and knew the truth). So if that is going to be used for a young child it might be okay but don't really count it as a 4th bedroom.
The main bedroom was roomy and the bathroom was large but mold on the tiles.
We didn't have use of the 2nd bike until a few days before we left as it didn't arrive until then but there are 2 e-bikes now that were great for fun rides and quick errands.
Golf cart was useful and fun!!
My biggest word of caution was to be aware that the beach access is over 3 miles away. That means you have to pack up everyone headed there, park, unload and be coordinated.
The Mani Lani beach area is pretty and sandy but relatively small for the number of people using that space. Not great snorkeling. You can walk the Fisherman's trail and find other coves that were stunning but another added distance and not easy for children ( we didn't have any but even us adults needed water shoes and had to navigate the coves carefully). There is a walkway near the Fairmont Orchid that takes you onto Fisherman's trail but it too is about a mile and lots of the trail is lava rock and coral. It is a beautiful walk but if you want to plop down on a sandy beach this isn't the place you are looking to stay.
Great beach chairs and pool noodles in the garage.
Overall it was a nice stay but not quite what we expected for the price. Read the fine print and ask questions.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Honu House! The house was very comfortable and a great location for a wide variety of activities around the island. We especially enjoyed the kitchen and lanai for chill time and early morning coffee! Highly recommend.

Everything you need and more! Love how everything was labeled throughout the unit and there were extras of everything (towels, etc). Great stay and look forward to staying here again!

The house was very well stocked with a wonderful kitchen and enough space for a large group to connect easily. The location was close to the pool and not far from the other resort amenities. The electric car was used every day and we really enjoyed it. I highly recommend this property for extended family gatherings.

Really nice. Key situation was a bit confusing but figured out even through it wasn't locked the way it was explained. There were a couple of lights that need to be replaced and the stove was repaired while we wete here butKia always returned our calls and resolved issues in a timely manner. The rental was noce and latge for 6 adults and electric car was fantastic for one of our friends that was slightly disabled to get back and forth to the pool. The beach was a little farther away than anticipated. But all in all great place well stocked and maintained. Would definitely rent again.

This property was beautifully updated, had a well-stocked kitchen, and the GEM electric car was a fun perk for the kids. We vacationed with three generations and everyone had enough space. Our young kids loved the pool and the Mauna Lani beach. We will definitely consider staying here again the next time we visit the Big Island!

This is a gorgeous home with everything you need. Plenty of towels, including beach towels. The kitchen has all the little things you need. The GEM cart is a great way to see the area. A great pool area. We had 7 adults and a 1 year old and it was perfect.

Family fun
Had a great time. With 7 adults and 1 under 3 it was perfect. Beach club was convenient, especially with electric car. Pool was perfect for little one. House was big enough so no one felt crowded and baby was able to nap in back bedroom. Would totally book again

A gem with a GEM
Another lovely property in the KaMilo Mauna Lani Resort! This rental experience comes with a GEM golf cart that makes accessing the surrounding easier and more fun!
Kai, the property manager, was always available and very helpful.

3 weeks in Kamilo 423
Positives: We really enjoyed the property for our 3 week stay. It accommodated 5 adults and 3 children very nicely. Super convenient location. The private beach was wonderful. Use of the GEM car was awesome. Great views from the lanai.
Negatives: There were several problems with appliances and clogged drains. Most were resolved, which was great. One shower/bathtub was unusable for our entire stay..

Ringing in the New Year!
We were a group of 5 adults who arrived just in time to ring in 2022! The large size of this house was a plus. No one was getting in anyone's way. All the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable.
The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would use in your own daily lives.
The location is fantastic! Within walking distance to Foodland, Tommy Bahama Restaurant, and shopping. And in the other direction, within walking distance to the Fairmont Orchid.
The outdoor property is beautifully maintained and clean.

A wonderful retreat
If you’re looking for a home that allows for great social distancing while still providing access to beach, pools, fitness center, golf and shopping areas, this is the one for you. Plenty of room — and a main floor that is designed for cooking/gathering/entertaining. We weren’t interested in indoor-restaurant dining given the omicron surve, so we absolutely loved having a large kitchen/family room that opened onto the porch. The beach club is about 1.5 miles away, and the electric Gem made for a great way to go back and forth without hassling over parking (which seemed to be in short supply for cars over the Xmas holiday). Having a supply of chairs and other beach items on hand was great for days when lounge chairs were in short supply or when we drove to nearby public beaches.

Nice property ready for a refresh
We're regulars to the Big Island and enjoyed staying in the Kamilo community. We were 5 adults and 2 kids (3, 1). Unfortunately the induction stove was DOA, and it took 4 days of back and forth with the property manager until we got 1 smaller plug-in burner provided. Having a kitchen (esp with little children) is a key part of not staying in a hotel, so this was unfortunate.
Some essentials were missing - had to buy dishwasher detergent, and there no trash bags (may have been a COVID shortage issue as foodland didn't have any either.) The house is great - but furniture, carpet and BBQ are ready for a refresh.
Having the GEM car was amazing and made foodland, shops and beach runs convenient.
Pros:
- Foodland is ~2 min away
- Beach club cove has chairs, cabanas, a bar that serves lunch / to-go drinks. Ankle-sized waves good for the kids and decent snorkling.
- GEM car!
Cons:
- Lanai view is of the lower row of houses and driveways. Some mountain view and a sliver of golf course, but mostly of driveways.
- WiFi was very slow
Overall we enjoyed the trip and made it work (nothing like BBQing scrambled eggs at 7am!), but the property could use some new carpet/furniture. I wasn't happy with the 4 day turnaround time for getting a stovetop alternative.

Beautiful Home and Area
We really enjoyed our vacation. Unfortunately there were some very high winds and a large grass fire on the island which hampered some of our activities.
Still, I would recommend this home and beautiful area!

Great for a group!
We loved the week we spent here. The electric car was great for running around the resort. The beach club was amazing and the complex featured a large pool that wasn’t ever crowded. The layout of the house allowed for both privacy and large gathering!

Excellent Vacation
Very tastefully decorated and well maintained property in a pretty, quiet subdivision of the Mauna Lani resort property. Very clean and comfortable.
Given the size of the house, some constructive improvements, albeit minor, would include: more than one set of pool/fitness center keys so that if one person is using the key, it's still possible for others in the house to go to the pool. Perhaps an electronic entry system for the front door would also be useful. Some type of centralized sound system would be good. Other than that, a lovely house, well equipped, and perfect for up to 6 to 8 people. Loved it.

Perfect for our family
The house is beautifully furnished, has stunning artwork, comfortable beds, an abundance of soft towels and an exceptionally well-stocked kitchen. We loved all the baby gear (crib, highchair, stepstool, potty, water wings, beach toys, baby gate, etc.). The GEM car and electric bikes made accessing the beaches and nearby shops fun and easy.
We had a blast taking the pink Jeep to Waipio.
Other than being quite a drive to Volcanoes National Park, this location was primo for accessing the island’s various destinations.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Well stocked. Great location.
We had a great time over Christmas and New Years. The condo is well stocked with everything from spices for cooking to boogie boards for the beach. We loved the Gem car and the electric bikes for cruising around the resort area. We took them down to the coast every night to watch the sunset. The managers were exceptionally helpful and communicated all necessary info about the condo. They accomodated us with a late check out that allowed us to really enjoy our last day in Hawaii before a red eye flight out to the cold midwest.

Very nice accommodations for a large group.
We took our 6 grandchildren, ages 14 to 22 years, plus a 6 month old, for a family vacation. This beautifully equipped home met our needs superbly. Fixing meals in the delightful kitchen was easy. We only wished we had a griddle to cook pancakes.
James was our contact person and we called him several times with questions. He was very attentive and helpful.
We would stay here again, but with several of the grandkids graduating college, we likely won't need a home this big. We highly recommend it for those needing accommodations for 10.

Great property!
This is a great property and it is well stocked with everything you need to feel at home. Plenty of hardware for cooking/baking and dishes for eating. The pool and the beach club access are really nice. The gem car is a handy and fun way to get around as well. To top it off, Kai and Burt were very helpful and made us feel very welcome. Don't hesitate - this is a great place to stay!

Wonderful Stay in paradise!
This was our fifth trip to the Big Island and our second stay in Mauna Lani. The area is perfect for families. We have two young children and the kids pool (12-16 inches deep) in the Ka Milo complex and the beach at the beach club are perfect for youngsters.
423 Ka Milo is an excellent venu for a family get together. We had a multiple generations stay at the unit and the electric "GEM" car that comes with the rental is a great asset as it allows more flexibility for getting groceries or heading to the beach club and pool. Our boys LOVED it! Coded access to the house and garage was also a godsend with many different people coming and going to various laces during the day.
Kai and Burt were responsive to each of the small issues that are bound to occur when staying for a few weeks. If we ever need a house with room for ten we would rent this unit in a heartbeat. The only thing to note is there is currently construction of two units that is occurring and visible form the front patio but for our kids they enjoyed watching the trucks and cement mixer and it enhanced their experience. At the pace they are going though I suspect this minor inconvenience will be finished in the coming weeks/months.
All in all a great rental and highly recommended for those with young kids especially. The worst part of the rental was having to leave :(

The house was fully stocked with everything we could have possibly needed. The house was extremely clean and beautiful. Burt was really easy to work with and super helpful. We will rent this unit again.

Perfect stay!
We chose to stay here during my conference at the Fairmont Orchid (walkable or biking distance from this home); Myself, my wife and 4 year old, and my in-laws all stayed. The home is very spacious ~2500sq ft, with washer/dryer, all utensils, towels/bedding all provided. I can be very picky on my bedding, but all the mattresses and pillows in the unit are 1st class, clean and the perfect firmness. On the patio is a gas grill. Everything was picture perfect; the 2 pools in the complex were just perfect--cleaned daily. We were careful to treat the home as if it were our own!
I would not hesitate to stay here again!

Absolutely wonderful unit
Amazing home. Wonderful for a family holiday.
Kitchen was a joy to cook in as it had all the conveniences of home.
Plenty of space for everyone to find an area to relax when you are not out exploring.
LOVED the Gem car and used it every day to go to the beach, shopping etc. Good shopping and restaurants close by.
Very safe beach not far away. Great to have the use of all the beach equipment such as noodles, boogie boards, chairs etc.
Lovely pool area very close to this unit. Shallow pool for very young children, deeper pool for everyone else. Lap pool separate from family pool for people who want to do lengths. Hot tubs, cabanas, and lots of loungers also in pool area. There is also a covered BBQ area with comfortable tables and chairs.
Would use this lovely unit again and highly recommend it.

Spectacular Property, At least 6 Stars!!!!
We stayed here with two families of four. We had four adults and 4 children (3 girls and 1 boy) and it was like this property was purposely built for our needs. Typically when you view properties online, they end up being not as nice as they appeared online (clever camera angles, etc). This property was the exception. The property was exactly as described.
The rooms were beautiful and the kitchen was stocked with appliances and accessories that I wish I had at home. Every room was tastefully decorated and all bedrooms were huge. The property included a large stock of bathroom and beach towels for your use. The lanai was fantastic allowing us to BBQ at home when desired. The main area sat all 8 of us comfortably in the evening when we were winding down from a long day. Dining was a breeze for the 8 people in our party. The property has enough place setting for 16. :)
This property has everything including High speed internet puts mine at home to shame (yes, I know I am on holidays).
The Gem car and electric bikes came in very handy for trips to the Beach Club or the onsite pool facility. The rental also included absolutely everything you would need for a day at the beach including cooler, beach chairs, beach throws, umbrellas, boogie boards and many more items.
We had several questions early in our stay and the property managers (Kai and Burt) responded almost instantly in all cases.
We stayed in Maui the week following our stay at this property and repeatedly stated we wished our property there was as nice as this one.
There were several shops and restaurants nearby (Ruth Chris was a hit) and a convenient grocery store with reasonable prices nearby. If you stay here, make sure you spend a day a Hapuna Beach which is only a 10 min drive away.
I would recommend this property to anyone. Don't hesitate at all!

This house is everything and more. The home is beautiful and extremely comfortable. Nothing average about what they have done and all they offer with this home. The gem car and the accessibility to the beach club are fantastic. Thank you for the little things like the cooler and ice packs. Anything we needed you had thought of. Would recommend this home to anyone!

Perfect Family Escape
We stayed here with extended family, eight people total, and had a wonderful time. The location was perfect, the beach nearby was lovely, and the community pool was quiet and beautiful. The home is well taken care of and well-stocked. We hope to come back!

We were a family of eight adults staying for 10 days. The house was very comfortable and very adequately stocked for cooking and barbecuing. The decorating is lovely. We enjoyed the lani that is completely open to the great room.
