Super quick drive or very short cab ride downtown, walk to U-District, Gas Works Park the Arboretum, Broadway, Madison Park, Volunteer Park, and bike just about anywhere on the Burke-Gilman trail just across the bridge or at the extreme mountain bike course (look up 1-5 Colanade Mountain Bike Park). Jump on a paddleboard or rent a kayak just on the other side of the bridge as well - (Check out Aqua Verde Paddle Club and Cafe). Skiing and tubing is an hour away at Snoqualmie Pass, or you can go wine tasting at Chateau St. Michelle or check out Redhook Brewery in Woodinville. White water rafting is about 60-90 minutes as well. There is a lot to do here!
Families will love the separate spaces on the top floor and main floor, hidden nooks, shelves and shelves of games and toys for ALL ages, enjoy the rustic and comfortable features and careful attention to every detail.
Totally refinished with all modern amenities including Rinnai water heater, gas range, stainless steel appliances, air conditioning, stereo system, high speed internet, cable for two tv's, Nintendo Swtich, tons of movies, games and books.

Two fireplaces, full - subway tiled bathroom with chandelier, fantastic modern and rustic lighting throughout. Full kitchen with dishwasher and all of the necessary equipment to entertain, cook and prepare meals or relax and open a bottle of wine and party with friends!
This is a great place that has been enjoyed by families, friends, girls weekends, guys weekends, wedding parties, and extended stays. The courtyard and location of the house give this place real added private feel in the middle of the city.
Our guests LOVE our city chickens! Plan to take a few eggs for breakfast as our guests, or just get to know the friendly girls.
It really is a great place to enjoy a vacation or get away! Let me know if I can help you plan anything, or if you have any questions that I can help with. We love this place, and really want you to be able to enjoy your time here too.

My family and I(wife and 2 boys 3 and 6) stayed few days for a little getaway. Didn’t need much communication back and forth with host, but before showing up we had pretty much all information we needed. The boys absolutely loved the chickens and wanted to look for eggs as well as feed them every day….eggs were delicious! House is in a nice neighborhood area and didn’t have to travel more that 20ish mins each way to locations, one of them being downtown. Little courtyard area in back was fun to be in and let kids burn more energy off they had a little cornhole style game but kinda built for golf chipping but had beanbags as well which were definitely used…super plus that since I took golf clubs out of car for trip and didn’t have for the golf version I asked about a club and was handed a wedge within mins and got a few swings in which felt great. I would absolutely look at this place when going to Seattle again and would suggest it to anyone looking at a place to stay. Thanks again!

Look no further— this cute, cozy Carriage House is perfect! The house is beyond adorable and a nice mix of historical meets modern day. Everything with our stay was absolutely wonderful! We really enjoyed all the extra touches Jill has done and the amenities she’s added to make the house so warm, inviting and convenient. We also loved visiting with the chickens and collecting eggs each morning! The location is perfect and close to so many things. We definitely will be back to visit the Carriage House again!

The cottage house is an adorable place to stay. Jill is easy to to reach and quick to respond.
As a host, she is thoughtful.

I needed a place for me and my adult son, plus two elderly relatives who use walkers and can’t manage stairs. This place is easy to get into, with 2 comfy bedrooms on the ground floor. I would definitely stay there again!

We had a lovely time staying at the Carriage House! It was cute, clean and had everything we needed for the week. The kids loved the upstairs loft area and got really into a Judy Blume book they found. It was also realky fun collecting eggs from the chickens and sitting out back having cocktails in the yard. Thanks Jill and Dick for being amazing hosts!

This cottage has everything needed. Location was great. Had the pup with us and she was very comfortable also. Loved seeing the chicks everyday. Freeway was noisy, but we were able to shut windows at night and it was fine. Lots of fans around and sound machines in the rooms. Thank goodness we were there before the big heat came.
The host was very sweet and accommodating. Thank you for making our stay enjoyable!

My family and I stayed at this property for a couple of nights and had a wonderful experience. We have a toddler and baby and found the house to be very kid friendly - the toys and kids books were a huge perk that kept our son busy. It was also very charming, clean and well located. Despite being very close to a busy highway, we didn’t really hear the noise from inside. It was also very well equipped with everything we needed and more. Jill was a very kind, helpful and welcoming host. Would definitely recommend this spot!

We stayed at this property for 3 nights before we took off on a cruise. The house was quaint and filled with nooks and crannies and things to do! Our toddler loved visiting the chickens and looking for eggs every day! The host, Jill, was great, very helpful, and very communicative! We really enjoyed staying at this property!

From booking to checking in/out, everything was smooth about our stay at the city cottage. Jill was attentive and easy to communicate with. She was warm and inviting of her property. The property was easy to get to, right off the highway, and on street parking was never an issue. The area was safe and within walking distance to some playgrounds, restaurants and coffee shops. A quick ~20 minute drive got us into the city for all of our sight seeing adventures!
We met our family (4 adults and 3 children in total) in Seattle for vacation for a week. We comfortably fit in the two bedrooms and loft room with an additional futon. There were fans available, as well as an air conditioner in the loft area. It was great to have a washer/dryer in the cottage, as well as a stocked kitchen with all of the necessities.
The kids loved visiting the chickens in the backyard and collecting their eggs. They also enjoyed all of the games, books and toys in the cottage. The kayaks and paddle boards were available to us (they have life jackets) but we did not use them as we were out sightseeing for the majority of our stay.
We highly recommend staying at the city cottage for your visit in Seattle!

If you’re visiting Seattle with your family, forge an overpriced, cramped hotel. This carriage house hit the mark in every way. Well located, clean, and room to spread out in a quiet, cozy place to come back to you at the end of each day. We felt like locals for five days and had a great launchpad to explore the city. Nothing was more than 10 to 15 minute drive. Property owner was particularly helpful and responsive. Highly recommend.

House was great. Our kids loved the chickens and the upstairs and all it’s nooks. Neighborhood was convenient, walked to sushi and coffee and good take out pizza. Would definitely stay again.

I had high expectations for our stay here because it looked so cute in the pictures and we were so excited about the chickens. This place exceeded our expectations! I was so happy they had books and games and toys for my kids because we did not pack anything like that. It’s really hard traveling as a family, but staying here. Made it fun and easy.

We wanted a family friendly place to stay and found the best location! The Coachhouse was a wonderland to our 3 year old, and he loved saying hi to the Chickens in the back morning, afternoon and night!
Just a 10-15 minute drive anywhere you’d want to go in Seattle and while it was close the the highway, for us, the noise from the street was relaxing like white noise.
We would highly recommend this location.

We came for my daughter's UW graduation and LOVED the carriage house. Great location, adorable place with all the extra touches. We will definitely book again for futurw trips to Seattle.

We so enjoyed our holiday here. We had never been to Seattle. Jill and Dick’s place was amazing and well stocked . They were very accommodating. This place is close to downtown . We went to Vancouver Island by Victory Clipper. We went to a wonderful park, Arboretum. Rented a car and drove to Vancouver . It was such a fun holiday and we would definitely stay here again . We highly recommend this place.

We stayed at the Carriage House for two months. It was our home away from home. Everything about it was perfect. Jill thought of everything you might need and made sure it was in the house! It was rare we needed to contact her but when we did she responded quickly. We loved the location. We could walk to the French Bakery in one direction and in another walk through beautiful neighborhoods. We were close to downtown and could see Union Bay and Lake Washington. I hope to visit Seattle again and definitely want to stay at the Carriage House again

This is an adorable cottage. So clean with all the little extras!! Fresh eggs in the morning were my husband's favorite. We felt so welcome and spoiled!! The hosts are very accommodating, friendly and super helpful with logistics. Would highly recommend. If we ever have another house flood...or want a retreat...we will be back!

This Carriage house has all the charm of years past with the convenience of all modern conveniences. The bathroom is spa like, the kitchen is full stocked with everything you would need to pull right up, unpack and enjoy! The location is prime and walkable to many charming restaurants and coffee shops. We will definitely come again.

Carriage House
Jill does an amazing job of welcoming her guests. The carriage house is very charming and comfortable. Our kids loved the upstairs bedroom or as they called it, the lair. The location is great for exploring Seattle.

Awesome Location and Amenities
Thank you Jill for being a great host. Your spot was amazing and super cozy. Thoughtful personal touches that my family loved. Highly recommended.

Cozy, charming and conveniently located!
My family really enjoyed the layout of the house - the upstairs is perfect for kids/teens to spread out and have their own space. Gathering eggs was a fun treat, as was walking to the market just down the alley. Elaine is a thoughtful host, and communication was great! We’d absolutely stay in the carriage house again.

I travel a good amount and always use VRBO whenever I can and I'll tell you, this place is as good any other I have stayed at. Location is right off I-5 so easy to get downtown. Very clean and warm feel to the house. The outside courtyard is great for relaxing and grilling out. But best of all, the Chickens!!! They are just awesome!! Very friendly and will eat right out of your hands. I miss them already!!
Overall, this place is top self if you're looking looking for a great place to stay for a group of friends or family.
Book this place if you can. I plan to do again!

We live nearby and needed to be out of our house for a long weekend. Jill and Dick are wonderful hosts and on top of everything. Central location makes it easy to get everywhere in Seattle. The Carriage House has all you need for your stay - well thought out amenities and if you’re a reader - it would take many lifetimes to get through all the great selections they have - would stay again!

This is an absolutely fantastic place to stay in Seattle! The house is in a fantastic location (about a 10 minute drive to everything we wanted to do in the city) with readily available street parking in a quiet neighborhood, and with a great place for coffee in walking distance (Little Lago). We also appreciated the cleanliness of the property and the friendliness and accessibility of the owners. An elementary-aged child in our group LOVED meeting the chickens, hanging out in the loft, and cozy kids' space on the staircase landing. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Beds were very comfortable. This house is also a book-lover's dream - SO many books to borrow for readers of all ages and interests and games available during your stay.
The only caveat is that it is located quite close to I-5. This makes hopping on and off the freeway easy, but it does create quite a bit of exterior noise. It's much less noticeable in the house, but something to be aware of if you're sensitive/a light sleeper. But staying anywhere in Seattle can have city noises, so not necessarily something that would be "better" elsewhere.
The house is an early 20th-century carriage house, so history buffs (like me) will get to experience a little taste of old Seattle. A binder in the kitchen contains historic photos of the house.
I can't recommend this place enough! We certainly hope to be back next time we're in Seattle!!

Very nice property, well taken care of. Enjoyable stay.

Walked in and was immediately impressed by the 'hotel level' ambiance...perfectly made beds, subtle background music, clear instructions, L'occitane bathroom products. The carriage house is extremely spacious and well laid out. I just wish I could've shared it with others (next visit). Walking distance to several coffee shops and easy access to UW, downtown and Cap Hill. Highly recommend this spot and look forward to staying again in the future.

Review 2 months in carriage house
Unfortunately I found the interior of the carriage house depressing. Very dark wood paneling and very little outside light that can come into the house. The upstairs is quite pleasant but the tv located there has a poor picture in the center of the screen.
The kitchen needs a serious upgrade.
It is impossible to enjoy the little garden because of the tremendous noise made by the traffic on I5. I knew before arriving that this was qa potential problem but completely unaware of how deafening the traffic was.
The Italian market down the street sells pizza and wine. I was expecting a real Italian grocery store. The entire neighborhood is unremarkable.

My family of 6 stayed in the cottage for 4 nights and had a great stay. It was super clean and the owner has anticipated every need and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. It didn't take us long to get used to the ambient noise from the freeway and enjoyed sitting outside reading. Gathering eggs from the chickens was a fun and unusual experience. We never had a hard time finding parking right in front of the cottage either. Would definitely stay here again.

The arrival process was very easy. Our kids had a great time with their own space and thoughtful toys, books, and games. The chickens in the backyard were a delight and the owner let the kids feed and hold the chickens with her supervision. There is a sweet local market with great coffee and the wine selections were great. It was easy access to downtown and the water. We loved staying here.
