About this house rental
The Pinecone Lodge is nestled among the trees in a sandy cove on Sabbathday Lake in New Gloucester, Maine, home of the nearby Sabbathday Lake Shakers.
This lake front "treehouse" offers the best of both worlds: an oasis of peace and quiet that is still within striking distance of Portland, Freeport, the White Mountains, and the Maine coast. Listen to the loons and watch the eagles hunt on the large entertaining deck.
You can use the house as a home base to enjoy Maine's blue skies in the summer, peep at spectacular foliage in the fall, Ice fish or ski and snowmobile in the winter.
This Lake house is located on the southern end of the lake. The house and beach gets full afternoon sun and gorgeous sunsets that light up the sky.
The kitchen features a full gas stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave and is stocked with all the necessary cookware and tableware.

Another great vacation at a superb property. Never disappointed with Peter's properties. Clean, well supplied, convenient to everything. It gets harder to leave every year. Thanks Peter.

My wife and I decided that we needed a couple lake days before the Summer was over. We were lucky enough to find availability at Peter's beautiful lake house. The space is as private as you want, with a comfortable and spacious deck and private dock. There is also community within reach at a beautiful shared beach. There's options on property for a big family gathering, or just a couple looking to escape with their 9mo old. The house has everything you need and has modern fixtures. Everything was spotless and well maintained. We'll be back, I'm sure.

We had a wonderful time on the lake swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking. Our host Peter was very helpful.! The Cabin had everything you could possibly need. The view from the deck was wonderful, in the morning with coffee and in the evening with a glass of wine! Thanks so much Peter!

Ideal spot!
Pine Cone Lodge has it all: a convenient location; a beautiful and peaceful lake; a well stocked household; a clean, comfortable and thoughtfully decorated interior and exterior; and a great host Peter.
We kayaked on the lake and viewed loons and eagles, hiked at the shore, shopped and enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the lake.
Hope to be back again. Thanks Peter.

Perfect!
Peter’s property had everything we needed., very clean, extremely well-stocked, comfortable beds, air conditioned, well decorated and modern! There were 8 of us including our toddler grandson and we had our mini schnauzer as well. Because of our grandson’s medical needs we looked for a property with air conditioning, enough wall outlets, proximity to medical center, full bath, etc and this property was everything. Additionally, being right on sabbath day lake with a small shared beach was perfect!
We kayaked and used the paddle boat and paddle boards. We also took day trips, visited the Shaker Museum a mile away ,and our grandson loved the Maine Wildlife Park. There was something for everyone! When the listing said just bring your food, that’s the truth! Thank you again Peter for everything!

Gorgeous Getaway
We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at Peter’s beautiful cottage right on Sabbathday Lake. The condo had everything you could ask for, was very nicely appointed, and had its own private dock, as well as paddle boards, kayaks, etc. Peter himself is delightful and very helpful, and we greatly appreciated his flexibility when our dog had to be hospitalized the day before we were to leave, allowing us to come (and leave) a day late. Overall, we could not be happier with this rental and definitely plan on coming back next year!

Lakefront relaxing and fun vacation
We had a wonderful time at Peter’s lake house with 2 adults and 2 small children. The property had lots of great amenities like kayaks, a paddle boat, fishing poles, fire pit, life jackets, and canoes, not to mention a great view of the clean and peaceful lake. There were beautiful plants and flowers surrounding the home. The bedrooms were cozy and nicely decorated. Peter was a wonderful host!

Covid Escape
Our experience was fantastic. We enjoyed a lovely week of family togetherness. Cooking lots of great food in a very well equipped kitchen. Plenty of space and privacy for all. The lake was clear and calm for paddle boarding and kayaking. Dogs had plenty of room to exercise. We had a great time. Peter was a wonderful host. Definitely would love to visit this location again.

Best Maine Vacation
Peter was exceptionally friendly and respectful. He made the check-in process easy and has been a really great host to take care of us throughout our stay. He has given us bags to make collecting wood easy. He has given us great advice on local markets and such. He has also been attentive to any minor questions.
Peter has maintained his property well. Beach is always taken care of. My family has used every single aspect of this house. My family loved the fire pit located on the deck. I mainly manned the gas grill. The water was amazing to swim in everyday to dusk. Living room/kitchen was very roomy for kids to play games on the TV.
I look forward to seeing Peter and the property. I wish him much prosperity and blessings. Amazing place. Amazing host. I can't say enough.

Secluded getaway spot only 30 min from downtown Portland
Peter's lakefront home made for the perfect weekend getaway! The house was beautiful and fully stocked with everything we needed, and the lake and dock access was second to none. Even with two toddlers running around, Peter and this property allowed us to have a very relaxing and enjoyable few days away, less than a half hour from home. We'll definitely be coming back for another visit!

Great getaway lake house
Peter was a great and welcoming host and his house was well maintained and included everything you would need, from spices to towels to shampoo and other toiletries. We really felt at home on Peter's property. He has taken the time to decorate all of the rooms and has kept everything neat and orderly. The view of the lake from the deck is beautiful! We had a great time and were glad we chose Peter's home. We'd be glad to come back if we are ever back in the area. Thanks Peter for your hospitality!

Amazing property!
This place is incredible! A great location right on Sabbathday lake but also in terms of proximity to Portland and surrounding towns. The view from the living room over the lake is amazing - especially at sunrise! My husband and I rented this and Peters next door property for our friends and family to stay at leading up to our wedding - it was the perfect setup that allowed everyone a comfortable place to sleep while providing the perfect spaces to hang out together. Everything was perfect during our stay and Peter was an A+ host - very accommodating and quick to respond leading up to our stay. We are definitely coming back!!

Peter is the perfect host!
We loved the property and the lake is very peaceful. Gentle breezes while sitting on the deck are so nice.
Peter supplies so much to make the stay exceptional. From the canoe, kayaks, paddle boards, fish poles and wonderful outdoor furniture...nothing lacking! Indoor space was just perfect as well. Very comfortable and modern.
We surely plan to visit again!!!

Great vacation
Peter rents a beautiful lake house! He is a great host. The house is furnished and supplied marvelously. The house, attached deck and dock are wonderful. He really goes the extra mile in making the house a home for the week. Peter lives next door and is always promptly available for assistance (like when we ran out of propane). The lake was very nice and mostly quiet during the week. The house was not quite as remote as we might have liked or have been used to (houses are a little close and near a main road) but it barely phased us. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation and I can’t say enough nice things about the details and effort Peter puts into this lake house. One of our best vacations ever! Thank you!

Fabulous Lakefront Cottage
We had a lovely stay at this beautiful, lakefront cottage. We truly only needed to get some groceries and bring in our suitcases. The kitchen was fully equipped and there were lots of extra towels and linens. It was a welcoming touch to find fresh fruit, coffee and bottled water in the kitchen. Peter really set this up to feel like a home.
Spending a Spring evening sitting on the deck overlooking the lake, next to the outdoor fireplace, was amazing. The cottage is conveniently located if you need to travel to Portland.
Thank you Peter for our lovely stay, I hope we’ll be able to make this an annual event.
