About this house rental
Originally built in 1855, this beautiful farmhouse was fully restored in 2013. This 12 room house has 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, and is located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Whether visiting Vermont to get away and relax in the country, or to take part in some of the plentiful outdoor activities that it offers, this home will make for a perfect vacation for you and your family.
With the VAST snowmobile trail system easily accessible from the property and both Jay Peak and Burke Mountain about 20 miles away, this house is the perfect destination for winter enthusiasts. Jay Peak’s indoor water park is also open year round for those who would like a break from winter activities.
Winter is not the only season full of fun and adventurous activities in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. The summer season brings activities like hiking and mountain biking, as well as kayaking, fishing, swimming, and golfing. Hike some of the numerous and beautiful nearby mountains, or bike the Kingdom Trails system in the Burke area. Kayak, fish, or swim in Lake Memphremagog, Crystal Lake, or Lake Willoughby. All are nearby. You can also fish the Black River from the back yard.
Not far away, Jay Peak Resort is home to an 18-hole championship golf course, in addition to an ice arena, tram rides, and as previously mentioned, an indoor waterpark.
There are many restaurants nearby, and the house is just a short distance from the Newport area, which has anything one could need. The house is also on a well-traveled road just 5 miles from I-91, so roads are well taken care of in the winter. It is just over 3 hours from Boston, under 6 hours from New York City, and 2 hours from Montreal.

We went to play Newport CC and have a weekend with my two children and their spouses. We also had our 6 month old grandson. The house was set up perfectly as one bedroom had a smaller room connected to it. Perfect for the baby portable crib. The house is a very quick drive from Newport activities. Great weekend. Plenty of space in house.

Very clean home. Perfect location for viewing the 2024 eclipse. We've been to the Northern part of Vermont before but not the Irasburg area. It's very quiet and peaceful. The home is a lovely restored farm house with plenty of room for 8 in our family gathering age range 18-84. We had a great time. Had a check in snafu that was our fault due to the way the vrbo app displays info but resolved quickly. Hope we didn't bother the hosts ;-)

We all have an incredible time in Vermont at this property. It was simply perfect. It was close to Jay Peak for skiing and restaurants for going out. The beds were all comfortable and plenty of living space for all of us to spread out.

House was great. The only negative was how close to the road it is. We would stay again if in the area again.

We had a lovely stay at this beautiful home. Entry to the house was very easy and upon arrival it was very clean. The kitchen was cozy and perfect for a wonderful family time together. Plenty of bedrooms and gathering space for all of us. I would highly recommend staying at this well kept home.

The house is beautiful, and was perfect for visiting family. The cushions on the live seat on the deck had been left out dripping wet, but I hung them over the railing, dried them and brought them in. The front right porch stair railing is rotten and my sister-in - law fell coming up the stairs. The deck table was really dirty and had to be cleaned thoroughly before we used it. We didn’t use the oven but it hadn’t been cleaned. None of these issues hindered our absolutely wonderful stay, but we thought the hosts would want to know!

Getaway
We had a fabulous time in this antique home. It was great to bring our pets on a vacation with us. The property is beautiful with a great little walk to a small waterway. There were plenty of suggestions left by the owners for great things to do in the area. We would definitely stay again

Sibling reunion retreat
We had a wonderful stay at this beautifully restored farm house. It was the perfect size for our sibling reunion. Ample space for comfortably dining on the deck or in the dining room, large living room to socialize in, well appointed bedrooms. Owners were extremely responsive to all our questions. We could not have had a better stay.

Great Place for a Family Stay
We enjoyed staying at this restored farmhouse. Plenty of room for extended family Everyone enjoyed wandering down to the stream and even a bit of fishing! Great Yard and deck!

Awesome family stay!
The farmhouse was perfect for our first vacation to the NEK - more than enough room for my family of four (two adults and two young kids) and my brother-in-law. There was very little that wasn’t provided in terms of housewares, toiletries, etc, and having a washer and drier on the first floor was extremely helpful (although on occasion the some of our clothes came out with orange spots presumably from the iron in the water). Between the large yard and creek, my boys never stopped playing outside (and thankfully, it never seemed to get too buggy)! We also found the location ideal as it was pretty much just 15 - 30 minutes from every activity and place we wanted to check out. This was a great place to stay, and we hope to have an opportunity to return again!

Vacation in Vermont
This was the perfect rental for my 89 year old Mom and me to get away for the month of July. We were looking for a change of scenery and reacquainting ourselves with Vermont and friends. Thank you Helen and Glenn. With luck, we will be back. Linda H

We had a great time on our trip to the Northeast Kingdom! The house is spacious, very comfortable sleeping arrangements and a great back deck for star gazing at night. Cute little path to the river and a friendly neighbor pointed out the swimming hole! (Do watch for leeches, unfortunately. Might have been a fluke but good to know about!) Plus a big yard for a friendly game of soccer, etc.Enjoyed some hiking, Local breweries, Lake Memphremagog and Lake Willoughby. House is centrally located to all!

1800s Farmhouse with Modern Comfort
Great place! The pictures are underselling it, it was nicer than I expected.
House is close to the road, so the traffic can be a bit loud at times, but otherwise a very relaxing space.

Family up for a wedding
We stayed at the property from sept 5-12. It was amazing. The home is easy to find. Location was close to Barton, Newport, Glover etc.. there were shopping centers close. Everything was provided that you would need. Pots, pans.dished, linens, a grill. The out door area was lovely to sit on and just relax. We loved sitting on the porch. There is a path behind the house that leads to a stream which is pretty. Neighbors were friendly. I would definitely stay here again. The character of the home was as described old farm house. We loved every minute of our stay

perfect for us
House is as described. Kitchen well-outfitted. Great to have one/two bedrooms on ground floor. Good proximity to Newport, Barton/Glover, Clyde River, etc. Air conditioners (used as fans) provide white noise to completely block sound of cars on road out front, even though they are few during sleeping hours. We enjoyed the use of the house as a central base for our days.

Great summer stay in the NEK
We had a great time - home is located centrally to trails, lakes, mountains, et. al. A particularly nice touch is the path down to the river in the backyard. We’ve already booked a return trip for the Christmas holiday!

The Farmhouse
This restored farmhouse is absolutely gorgeous! It has everything you need for a fabulous vacation. It is well stocked with extras of anything you might forget to pack and has ample room for the members of your group to be together but also plenty of space for privacy as well. The beds were extremely comfortable and the decor and color schemes in all the rooms are absolutely beautiful! Our many thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Bean for sharing this lovely home!

This farm house was amazing my kids truly enjoy this house it was perfect for our Christmas getaway!
The house was very clean and Helen and glen really have done there part on keeping it up to date. It had everything we needed to cook and bake, it really felt like home. It was big enough for us to be together and enough when we just wanted time alone. Really can’t wait to summer we will love to go back and see it when it’s all green outside.

Old farmhouse charm with all the new world amenities you need!
My family and I make our way up to VT twice a year to relax and make lasting memories. This time around, the Farmhouse was the perfect setting for our trip. Our two dogs loved the hidden paths and water behind the house. The large deck was the perfect place to watch the sun set and star-gaze at night.
If there are any criticisms I have to offer it would be that the beds were a little uncomfortable for us. Also, since some of us hadn't experienced well water before, the initial smell was jarring. We quickly overcame that by running the water for few mins before using it, or boiling it. The only other challenge was, because the house is on a busy road, it wasn't safe for the dogs to roam freely like they usually do.
Other than that, we were very comfortable and the large rooms gave us plenty of space to spread out.
I would recommend this house without hesitation! Being the perfect distance from all of our favorite places in VT, I give our stay a 5 star review.

Spacious, clean, beautifully maintained, lovely surroundings
This farmhouse is an excellent choice for a large family/family reunion. It is very well kept, clean, and comfortable. There is plenty of space, including a large, extremely well-stocked kitchen, dining room, and sitting rooms both downstairs and upstairs. The upstairs bedrooms are all very large, and the upstairs bathroom is spacious. Two downstairs bedrooms are smaller but quite nice. They were perfect for grandma and caretaker family. The downstairs bathroom is small, but it does include a shower, which is a real bonus.
The back deck is large and the area behind the house is beautiful. There is a creek nearby. The house is very private since it stands alone and is surrounded by fields, yet it is accessible because it is right on a main road. Newport, Vermont, a charming small town on a lake with good restaurants, is close by.
A great property and a very enjoyable stay!
