Charming mid century modern apartment
This apartment is comfortably set up with all the amenities needed for a short or long stay. The location was perfect for going either to Joshua Tree or Mt San Jacinto or Palm Springs. I loved the mid century modern decor, probably because it triggered nostalgia for my youthful days. Pool was nice for cooling off.

a unique accommodation
The owner put considerable effort into restoring and enhancing the mid century modern decor down to the very small details. The courtyard was also lovely and the neighborhood was peaceful and relatively quiet. Although the heated pool and hot tub fee makes no sense considering it’s shared by 4 other guests, the pool was kept clean and was a pleasant feature. Fyi, this particular area can get very windy. The walls between units are very thin so expect to hear quite a bit from your neighbors. We pulled the throw rug back and discovered under the carpet had not been cleaned in some time which made us wonder how thorough the rest of the place was cleaned. Overall we had a memorable time and would recommend it to others.

"Mod-tastic"
This mid-century modern apt. has it all; great location and rates, amenities, spot -on whimsical, period interior design, and location in the NE Desert Hot Springs "spa zone".
Quiet and relatively dark (for dark-sky enthusiasts), it's minutes from Joshua Tree Na. Pk. and Palm Springs.
The host promptly notified us of belongings we left behind in time to retrieve them.
Many thanks, Eric! We'll be back!

Great place!
Fabulous host, communication was perfect through the stay. He made sure we were comfortable and had all the things we needed. The apartment was absolutely adorable. The grounds were very well kept. When we come back to town this is where we will stay. Great for large groups, close to everything. Excellent price.

Clean, but weird location
The property was mid century modern and relatively true to the pictures. However, there were some things that seemed out of place - there were creepy children pictures over the sofa, and it felt like a revamped motel. It was also in the middle of no where.
The property manager was easy to contact.

Great place to stay
We had a comfortable time. The apartment was a good space. Because we cooked, everything was there to do that. The location of the Getaway was great to travel to Joshua Tree National Park and then Palm Springs. Little problem with the plumbing, but that was getting fixed.

Easy Getaway
Eric was a great communicator beginning to end. He was available by text for anything from traffic predictions to spa recommendations. I left my glasses by the pool as we left which could have been disastrous - but because of swift phone calls between Eric the caretaker and Eric the manager, I was informed and able to to turn around on the freeway and drive back for them in time! The place was comfortable and a great base for three days of desert hiking in all directions. Hopefully, we will return some day!

Perfect Space
Had a great stay. It was quiet and clean and had what we needed. The decor was vintage and super cool. The location of hot desert springs was a quick drive into Palm Springs for more options of eating and shopping.

Perfect weekend!
We loved our stay! Eric was a great host. The room and pool were very clean and welcoming. First time staying in Desert Hot Springs vs Palm Desert but we were still so close to everything it didn’t make a difference. We will be back!

Great place to stay. I used it as a base for Joshua Tree. Clean, peaceful, unique decor, and I loved the pool. I would definitely stay again.

We are already planning to return to the Getaway.
We loved Eric's place! It was clean, well maintained and has fantastic mountain views from both the condo and pool area.
The retro look and feel of the unit was so well appointed and much appreciated. Close driving distance to Palm Springs. Joshua Tree and Pioneertown and only a few blocks from Cabots Adobe Museum. Resting by the pool and hot tub after a full day of touring was an added bonus. Wishing we would have stayed longer!

A relaxing condo
We stayed at this condo for three weeks in March/18 and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. When we arrived we were pleased to find a quiet, secluded area behind the gate where the pool and hot tub are. We chose not to heat the hot tub but others that did enjoyed it. We would imagine the pool will be perfect for the hot weather.
Eric has tastefully decorated the condo we had in a definite 60’s theme. It was funky and different and the sheets were the whitest we have ever had in any rental. With regard to another review a microwave would be very useful.
This condo is near to both Palm Springs and Palm Desert and not a long distance from Salton Sea, Idyllwild and Salvation Mountain-all worth exploring. Some great spots for birding near by and Indian Canyon is a must see.The Thursday night street market in Palm Springs and the Saturday Market in Palm Desert are fun and have so many different vendors to check out.
We would not hesitate to stay here again . Thanks Eric and Eric, it was a pleasure meeting both of you. Jim and Jocelyn Russell

Nice place and well executed
We were there the week of 3/27/17. Everything about this place is nicely done/implemented and exceeds what you would expect. So it's a 1 bedroom apt with its mid century bones preserved and appropriately appointed. The place is super clean. We cooked a lot. The kitchen is well appointed with pots and pans that you would have in your own home. My only gripe was not having a pot big enough for a big ole batch of spaghetti. The bed is firm and comfortable.
I brought my own amazon fire tv stick. But guess what? He already had Roku with Netflix and Amazon so I didn't need it.
We did not pay to heat the hot tub. But after hiking and walking all day the cool waters soaking our legs while enjoying a drink was great.
The place is 11 mi from downtown Palm Springs. It worked great for us as we covered a lot of area there and Joshua National Park. It's a quick trip in to Palm Springs.
Eric has great taste and a commitment to providing an appreciated experience. You need to go there.

Good value for the money
My wife and I spent 3 weeks at this property and enjoyed our stay. The area is reasonably quiet. No traffic. Close to just about anything. (Especially when everyone drives 80 mph) The apartment was clean and well organized. Most of whatever we needed was available. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was nice and clean. The view at night into the valley below was very pretty. There were a few things that were disappointing. No microwave. If you have leftovers from eating out, which we did, reheating was kind of a pain. There actually is no counter space available for a microwave but maybe a small table on rollers would work? (Eric) Also, the couch looks cool but, I'm sorry, it just wasn't very comfortable. It was hard to sit on for very long, especially if you have a bad back, which I do. The pools aren't heated unless you spend extra money. So we didn't use them at all. Water was way too cold. But there are many spas around that allow use of their hot mineral pools for a minimal fee. The one we went to had 8 pools of varying size and temperature and they even had live music. The most we paid was $5 p.p.
So, all in all, this is a very nice property. Not high end but neither is the cost.

mid-century desert charm
I needed a peaceful two day escape from the bustle of Los Angeles town so I booked a couple impromptu dates at this property. I loved this place - it was beautifully appointed. Spotlessly clean and completely stocked with anything that I could need in the two day visit. The vintage kitchen gave the place quite a lot of authentic character. Eric was a wonderful host and gave me great tips of where to spa. I have returned to the city feeling fully restored.

Beautiful Desert Oasis
Eric's place is a wonderful oasis in the desert. I came to Long Beach for a wedding and decided to fly in a few days early to hike in Joshua Tree. This was the perfect place to stay, with Palm Springs just minutes away and the national park entrance about 35 minutes away. The pictures don't quite tell how carefully designed the space is, with little period touches in every corner. Its quietude offered a big comfort from the frenetic pace of New York City. Eric was very communicative with me leading up to my trip and accommodated a late check-in, since I was driving directly from LAX. I'd absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to friends.

Beautiful Modern Space!
Eric's place was perfect. The decor is beyond amazing, there were vintage magazines, appliances, furniture, etc. This was one of those rare occasions where it actually looked better in person than the pictures! The apartment was clean, pool was fabulous, and neighborhood was great. If you want a relaxing place to stay in Desert Hot Springs, this is the place.

Hidden Mid-Century gem in Desert Hot Springs
This Desert Hot Springs oasis was a hidden gem off the beaten path, & exactly the kind of tranquility I was looking for. What is also cool about this small complex is that it is situated between Joshua Tree and Palm Springs if your getaway includes a visit to both. I did not hear any of the other guests while we were there. The building is situated on a hillside with vacant lots on either side. There is a small market just down the street open late. He was a friendly, inviting, & very prompt in all his correspondence. Eric has impeccable taste, this apartment was full of incredible collection of tchotchkes. The experience felt more intimate than any hotel or motel could ever feel, & it was wonderful to have kitchen access. I took some amazing photos here to remember every detail. Visually stunning in every way. The view out the door from the kitchen of the mountains and sculptural windmills in the morning was breathtaking.
