Great house! Nice layout. Each bedroom with its own bathroom was a definite plus (3 master bedrooms and the main floor bedroom with adjacent bathroom). The driveway is steep, go slow and swing wide on the entry. We had 4 averaged sized cars up there parked side by side with just enough room to back up to drive down. The kitchen is great and a table that seats 8. Multiple porches, balconies and sitting areas gave everyone their own space. The only drawback is the “Mountain View” is not as the picture depicts. The trees have grown up to obscure most of the advertised view. Nothing a little landscape maintenance wouldn’t cure. Overall we had a great stay!

Great living room/family area. Very quiet and isolated.

This place was beautiful with lots of room to spead out. The outdoor areas were great except the trees need trimmed back to enjoy the view more. Well stocked home! Many people complained about the driveway, while it was a little tricky to find the first time (it was pouring and dark when we arrived) it wasn't bad. Take your time and stay to the right. It would definitely not be a deal breaker! We were only there a couple nights but would love to come back and explore more, esp Black Mountain (such a cool little town)! Would recommend!

Very nice property, very clean and well appointed. Comfortable for the 5 of us with room to spare. Beautiful picture windows looking out over the mountains. We also found the driveway steep but not that bad if you follow directions to hug the right side going up. Hope to return someday!

After conquering the driveway with our 15 passenger van, we were very pleased with our stay in Montreat! Very peaceful location. Everything we needed was available. The grill is a bit tricky and the kitchen faucet was a bit loose but overall we had a comfortable stay.

Very cozy home and really enjoyed our stay. The only drawback is the driveway and parking.

Beautiful views throughout the house! Well stocked and clean. Comfortable beds. Close to downtown Black Mountain. Host was very responsive. Hot tub was clean. Plenty of fire wood provided and fireplace worked wonderfully. Really enjoyed our stay here, would definitely stay again!

We came to visit for a fall family getaway. The house was very nice. Everything was clean and the kitchen was extremely well stocked. The driveway had no potholes but was extremely steep. We chose to drive a 4 wheel drive vehicle and didn’t have problems. The parking area is fairly small. But views are nice and it was perfect for our family. We enjoyed the shops and restaurants in Black Mountain and hiking in MonTreat.

We had a wonderful stay at this 4 Bedroom, 4 Bath home. After a couple of days, we gained confidence in driving up the driveway. We noticed the locals do it with ease, and by the end of the week, my adult son backed down the driveway just to prove to himself he could do it. :). We did park our 3rd car at the neighborhood entrance and shuttled to the house in our two trucks, mainly because it was a small sedan (Ford Focus) and we were concerned about potentially damaging the under carriage of the car.
We had a bear siting near the back door on our first full day! He looked straight at us through the back door. This made us hesitant to grill out as we didn't want him to come back. I do believe we were in his habitat as the terrain on the back side of the house is straight up a mountain. Exciting and scary at the same time!
The sites in the area were amazing! We came because we heard Asheville was a great place to visit. We actually liked Montreat just as much, if not more; there are several good restaurants within 10 minutes. October is an absolutely beautiful time of year to spend time here.

Overall the property is good. However, the driveway needs to be repaired. There are multiple potholes at the bottom of a VERY steep driveway. Fortunately we had all wheel drive. Make sure you swing far to the right on the way up and far to the left on the way down or you will scrape the bottom of your vehicle. (Yes, you will aim for the potholes!) Sadly the hot tub did not function properly while we were there. If you need assistance, make sure you call the phone number. The email response was minimal. Also, keep in mind that the view may be different due to tree growth. We definitely did not have the unencumbered view that is shown in the photos.

The location and layout of the house was great. The driveway is very steep. It’s best to go beyond the driveway, turnaround and attempt from the other side. Took multiple attempts for both parties with SUVs bottoming out :(. Overall, had a good stay after getting the vehicles up the driveway.

We loved the property and the location! My son goes to college and Montreat and we. Oils t have been happier with the location and views! However the driveway transition from the road is absolutely treacherous!! We are extremely disappointed as the comments said it has been taken care of! It has not! We would stay here again if it were not for the driveway! Unless you have a truck and 4 wheel drive I would stay clear of this property as it will tear up your undercarriage of your vehicle. My sister has a Toyota Highlander and it scrapped bad. I wouldn’t even attempt to take a car in this driveway! There has to be a way to fix the transition from road to driveway! I cannot believe with all the complaints that the owners just won’t fix it as the property is awesome!

The house had everything we could want- no need to bring anything. Comfortable beds, great towels, very clean, nice hot tub, pool & ping pong table (new paddles would be nice). We used the fire pit every night- dry firewood was provided. Cars with low carriage will scrape at the bottom of the drive. That was the only issue with an otherwise perfect stay.

The house was a great set up unfortunately we couldn't use the downstairs bedroom because the air conditioner system was super loud. It vibrated through all 3 levels. I called first thing sunday am we checked in saturday night tried to trouble shoot the problem. They were very responsive. We were only there two nights so made 4-5 phone calls super time consuming. We turned air conditioning system off because we were afraid it was damaging system. Later they blamed me for turning off when we were trying to prevent system from being damaged. The person i spoke to sunday am listened to sound on phone said that's not normal. We didn't expect they could get someone in to fix on a sunday. Where my issue is in this situation is how they handled it after we checked out. I spent a lot of money we couldn't have anyone in one of the four bedrooms and it was super time consuming for a two night stay they wouldn't compensate in any way for our two night stay except to give 20% off on next stay i won't ever use any house they manage. It's a shame we are home owners in Montreat so I could have given this house repeat business. This management company is not doing their client a good service. We understand problems happen in house but it's how they handle poor customer service

I regret that I rented this place Labor Day weekend...it was a horrific/horrible experience.
1 - Driveway damaged my car ... the check-in instructions say to "stay to the right" and that "your tires will spin"... I was fine with that warning, but my Audi A6 front spoiler scraped horribly and needs repair. A guest had a Subaru and it scraped as well. Property manager and owner new this (see other reviews) but did not warn me.
2 - Door code didn't work; we had a key from lockbox but only one so me an my guests all had to share one key. Told management company first night, but they never came out to fix.
3 - VERY loud noise coming from utility room that renders lower bedrooms unusable... trust me you won't sleep it's so loud. Told management company but they didn't even investigate.
4 - Hot tub was gross --- really yellow / wasn't cleaned so we couldn't use. Management company didn't resolve.
5 - Very poorly maintained property. Nails sticking up on deck , grill didn't work properly, firewood was soaked/rotten/didn't burn, light bulbs out, running toilet, pool table was missing a ball, etc. etc.
Yonder is management company and did not communicate with me during my stay.....we were completely on our own. Post trip, Yonder didn't engage to help but referred me to their attorney. Now I need to spend time on legal dispute. Urgh.... Trust me, move on to other properties and stay away from any managed by Yonder.

The house was lovely. Clean & spacious. We enjoyed the hot tub & fire pit. One issue was that we could not find it because the 108 is not clearly displayed. The other issue was the drive way. Very very steep!! My friends car could not make it & she had to leave it at the bottom.

Asheville graduation
This is a wonderful house with a terrible driveway.
Its not just steep.... We had to walk up because our cars would bottom out... only drivers stayed in the vehicles.
Other than that ,it was a great house.

Great stay
It's a great house in a perfect location. Plenty of space and a lot of amenities. We liked the game room, hot tub, and the outstanding views. The driveway is steep, but after the first time, we didn't have any trouble in our small AWD SUV. Tip: Drive up the hill a little past the house and then turn around to get a little momentum to help you up the driveway. Also, Black Mountain and Montreat are great little towns with several places to explore.

Great property in the mountains
Great place for group of friends to hang out and catch up. Spent time hanging on the porches and around the fire pit.
Highly recommend.

Beware the Driveway
We were satisfied with all aspects of the property with the exception of the driveway. We read in advance the reviews that commented on the difficulty of the driveway access. As a result we rented a SUV to deal with the problem. Even with that the driveway was a real challenge. We believe the descriptions of the driveway issue do not adequately disclose the severity of the problem. It took four attempts to get past the bottom of the driveway, the first three of which resulted in the front of the SUV getting hung up on the slope. The suggestion that you approach the climb by swinging wide to the right was unhelpful, as there is now a pothole on that side of the drive that makes it almost impossible. When we finally got past the bottom of the drive, we lost traction a number of times during the climb -- even on dry pavement. This happened with all three vehicles our group had. All our four couples reached the same conclusion that despite the other benefits of the property we would never choose to rent there again. As a final note, we could NOT have accessed the property had we driven our regular car (a Prius), and we can't imagine that the drive is passable after any snow or maybe even a hard rain.

Beautiful home; treacherous location
Let me start by saying how beautiful the house is. The rooms are spacious, the views are spectacular. The level on the ground floor smelled a little musty, but i overlooked that. What I never imagined was how difficult it would be to get up into the house. We are, according to residents of Montreat, flat landers and we have no experience in how to navigate mountain roads. The instructions did state that the wheels would spin but that it was normal. What they should say is that a four wheel drive car would be required. Also, getting up there at night was scary. I have a pregnant daughter in law that I was concerned about and begged her to close her eyes and trust that we would make it up the driveway. Again, I must reiterate that the property is gorgeous, but I learned that in the future I need to do research before renting another mountain home.

Awesome house but a bit awkward for groups
This is a beautiful house with incredible views and tons of amenities. Unfortunately, this is tempered by a terrible driveway that our vehicles could barely get up and by a somewhat awkward layout for groups. I would absolutely rent this house again for my family or a group of 4 couples.

Bedrooms and bathrooms are great!
Seating and dining arrangements were uncomfortable
Kitchen is poorly stocked with utensils, etc for cooking
Driveway was scary but manageable.
Overall a good place to stay for a small er group.

Summer getaway
Loved the location and seclusion high up. Driveway is steep-you will want a 4 wheel drive vehicle that is raised up otherwise you can scrape on the way down. Quick trip into Black Mountain and to Asheville proper. Good size great room for the entire family to hang out

Driveway does MAJOR damage
The house was great but that was overshadowed by the fact that all of us, even the ones in trucks in small SUVs scraped their front and back bumpers BADLY and scraped the bottom of our vehicles every time we came and went via the driveway. We will not rent here again because our brand new minivan now has horrible damage to the front and back bumpers. This should be disclosed to renters and I highly discourage anti one from renting here until this is fixed.

Family vacation/ birthday trip
We had a great stay, the house had a perfect lay out for 2 families and friends. The kids enjoyed the basement and pool table. The adults enjoyed the wonderful windows /view in the living room. The location was convenient to all destinations and in a cute little town. Only issue we had was no firewood for fire pit or fireplace, and the utensil drawers in kitchen won’t open, and One evening we ran out of hot water. We also enjoyed the fact that this place had good supply of cleaning and essential products that we could use. Over all we would gladly come back and stay at this lovely place.

Fabulous vacation home
The perfect place for a couples getaway. We loved the open living area and gorgeous views. The hot tub and game room were great for some fun down time. The style and decor was cozy and trendy and the home had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!

Bachelorette Getaway
The property was a great fit for our Bachelorette weekend! Normal check-in is 4pm but the hosts were so gracious to give us access at 2pm instead so that we could set up and decorate to surprise the bride for when she arrived. The property was more than enough spacious for 9 people, and very clean. We especially enjoyed the incredible views of the mountains (sunrise is a treat from this property), the open floor plan and ample seating for hanging out, the hot tub, and the peaceful stay of the Montreat area in general. I'd definitely recommend for a group looking to have a peacful, restful stay in the mountains!

Not 5 Star
House was great for family with kids & had a beautiful view. Love the location & setting. But not a 5-star experience. House decor average and somewhat shabby chic. Poorly stocked with mix matched & disorganized kitchen supplies. (Example-/not enough utensils for 20 people to dine...). The driveway was beyond challenging and realistically accommodates only 3 cars. There are no places to park at bottom of drive & cars scrape as they descend unless they are large SUV’s. We had a great time but we were disappointed in the house & woii I ld not rent it again.

A five star choice for our vacation
I would recommend this property to others. The location was perfect, being close to outdoor activities, as well as city amenities at Black Mountain, and not far from Asheville. The house was very clean and provided enough space for our group of eleven people. It also included many activities to entertain everyone at night, such as a pool table, ping pong, games, a hot tub, a fire pit, and an impressive TV with a vivid picture. The house was everything we’d hoped for. We had such a great time using this house as a base for our vacation.

What a treat in Montreat!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful views, lovely home and convenient location. As many others have stated, it’s a steep driveway. We had no issues with it though and managed without issues.

Beautiful home and views
Our small group loved this property. It was perfect!!
The driveway is extremely steep so we opted to not drive our 12 passenger van up it in rain and snow after the first time, but it was fine to part at the bottom and hike up it.
Thanks for a lovely stay!!

Property is nice, plenty of room. Views are great, very relaxing setting. Close to Asheville. Black Mountain is a nice town, nice restaurants.

Wonderful house for a group
Had a great time with our large family. Beautiful views and great location. Montreat / Black Mountain is an adorable town and the house is very close to Asheville which was so nice. The driveway is very very steep - bring your SUV! House was nicely decorated and pretty well stocked with kitchen equipment etc.

Beautiful mountain view
Great location. The driveway is a little testy, but that is pretty normal for the area. Enjoyed the fire pit even though the weather was a little wet. House is well appointed and comfortable. Only fault was the hot water ran low with 10 people taking showers

Perfection
Incredible views and a perfect location. Family stayed here for a mountain getaway and we couldn’t have been more pleased. Clean home with plenty of space and everything you could need for a weekend getaway or week long stay. There’s a lot of talk on here about the steep driveway but it’s nothing that can’t be navigated with a little concentration. We have an SUV and managed just fine but I can see how a vehicle lower to the ground would scrape on the turn heading up and down from the driveway. Come for the views, stay for the views.

Very clean, beautiful home
We have a beach home we rent through VRBO so we were familiar with the process. I rent a home in the Smokies every fall for a guys motorcycle trip. This year we brought the wives. First, as mentioned in the description and other comments the drive is very steep and intimidating at first until you get used to it. Next, the home is exactly as the pictures show; a little dated looking from the outside but very nice inside. And very clean. My wife cleans our rental so she is picky and she was impressed. Enough said. With 4 couples each had their own bedroom and bathroom with worked well. Black Mountain is a great town to visit and hang out. Conveniently located close to Asheville, Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore, great hiking and more. I, we highly recommend this home.
