We just returned from a 5-night stay for 6 adults at Rustic Timber.
The property was pretty much as described...beautiful inside and out, could sleep a small army, was well-maintained and provided extremely comfortable accommodations.
We especially enjoyed the wood framing, Tempurpedic bedding, gas fire table on the deck and the fireplace on the one chilly night of our trip. We spent quite a bit of time on the deck except when the construction project across the street was operating. We also enjoyed the relatively remote location – nobody drives by. The bedrooms were spacious with nice private bathroom facilities (that could really use some towel hooks/racks).
We originally had planned on 8 adults but a late cancellation reduced our numbers to 6. The silver lining in the cancellation was that the great room, deck and dining table were suited more for 6 adults than 8. The kitchen, while well-equipped, was significantly under-sized as we found ourselves bumping into each other quite regularly. If we were to have a group of more than 6 adults in the future with a wish to hang together as a group, we would probably look elsewhere.
In our opinion, the biggest flaw with Rustic Timber is the driveway. We can appreciate that building a house into a hillside is challenging but there had to have been a better option for the driveway engineering. It is extremely steep (perhaps 45˚) and the parking logistics were awkward at best.
In terms of value, Rustic Timber is pricy but does provide high quality accommodations so we see value as reasonable.
In case the owners read this review: You have a 125' tall tree that looks to be either dead or dying out front which will cause significant damage to the house should it fall the wrong way (NE). If it falls, it will also take out the power lines so maybe you can coerce your utility company into removing it. It will not be an easy job. Also might consider some carpenter bee traps as they are quite fond of the wooden beams.

Stayed here with a few families, and it was perfect. Gorgeous house, newly built. The decks are awesome, and are the main outdoor space to hang out in (no yard otherwise). There are several fireplaces in the house, including a gas one in the master bedroom. The ping pong table was a hit with the kids. I will say that while all the roads getting up there are paved, they can be quite steep or winding, so just know that; it comes with going to the mountains.

The cleanliness did not meet expectations. While looking for ceiling fan remote underwear & an empty water bottle was found under bed. The refrigerator had sticky smudges on it.
There were flying spiders/insects in the basement bedrooms.

Awesome mountain stay
We LOVED the rustic timber. Accommodated our team and their spouses. Enough space for us to be together, yet enough space for all to have our own space!! Every room had an on suite. We would love to stay again.
The only thing we would have liked is a bigger grill
We loved the outdoor spaces. The fire pit at night!!
Awesome stay!!!

We loved our time at this house. We had 10 adults and 4 children staying and everything worked out perfectly. There was plenty of room for everyone and I have never stayed anywhere with a better stocked kitchen! We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend.

The house was amazing. The driveway steepness and mountain roads should have been conveyed beforehand, and the fact that there is absolutely no yard to use. We were promised a pool table and fooseball table in the game room, but there were neither, and the management did not know the situation. There was a ping pong table, but not enough paddles or balls, so that was a bit inconvenient. We had to purchase our own. But the house itself was beautiful and well kept. I just think the management could have been a little better. The town of Montreat was a perfect little town with great restaurants, too. Top rate property!

We had a great stay at Rustic Timbers. The house is beautiful and was the perfect amount of space for 8 adults and 6 kids. It was very clean and the beds were very comfortable! The decks were perfect and had a group fire table to sit around. We loved the view and sitting around this table. The kids love playing by the creek right beside the house. We had a great time. The driveway is a bit crazy (steep and uneven so your tires squeal at the top when you're pulling up to the house but they tell you about that - still a little unsettling). And there's only a couple of things I can think that would have made the stay a little more comfortable: the kitchen is small for as many people can stay there so if you're cooking meals, you'll want to plan ahead how to accomplish it without everyone in there at the same time; they only have a small camping grill - which for as many people as can stay there seemed like an odd choice. We had to split up steaks being grilled and then half in a pan so that everyone could eat at the same time; and then lastly - there's no towel racks which was just really weird - no where to hang your hand towel or towels and the shower curtain rod in one of the 2nd level bathrooms was about to fall down. But small things to overcome - the house is really great!

We enjoyed our stay in general but there were few things I wish there were a little different. First of all the driveway was definitely an issued we are not use to drive on driveways like that at all. Driving a mini van on that driveway was scary. We were a family of 16 expecting to do a grill for all of us. The grill that the house offers is very tiny it took us a very long time to actually eat. There was a pin pong table which my kids enjoyed. Next time I will look for a house that has a hot tub because after tubing we were soak & wet and very cold, so The kids & adults would really enjoy a time to relax on a hot tub. The house was very modern & everything was clean & looked beautiful.

The house was super clean, new construction and nice furniture. The location is amazing, neighbors are very nice. The kids played around the house for hours. It was a lot of fun for all ages!

All good except for the driveway
This is a beautiful cabin with great views of the mountains. It has ample kitchen items and is located in a quiet area of Montreat. The major drawback is the driveway entrance which is steep and unlevel. You will need an SUV with good tires or a high-profile vehicle to navigate the driveway.

Great stay in Montreat
Wonderful property in great location.

Gorgeous house WAY UP!
The house was fantastic with beds for all our large family and the porch and view were a treat. As long time Montreaters our only negative was that we were so high up and out of walking range for the children and their activities.,

Beautiful Home and Location
Our group was very pleased to stay in this beuatiful home and will look forward to a future visit!

Wedding weekend was fantastic
Absolutely gorgeous place. We had 14 people stay here comfortably (whole wedding party) and it's only about 20 min into town. But tbh, you don't need to go all the way into Asheville. Black Mountain is a gorgeous scenic little town complete with restaurants and breweries, CVS and Ingles, everything you could need!

Beautiful home in a beautiful setting
From the time we walked in we knew relaxation and vacation had started. The home smelled like fresh cut wood, was spotless, and had everything needed to accommodate our party and our stay. The house is well stocked with kitchen supplies and with 5 bedrooms and 5.5 baths there is enough space to accommodate everyone. The beds were so comfortable and the outside decks offered the perfect place to relax. There is a nice trail along the creek and a lot of nature to enjoy. I would highly recommend this property and the only caution I would have is to use the directions provided by the management company as GPS can’t find the house and one of the roads is not well marked. Once you find the house it is easy to get in and out. There are many surrounding trees so it is very green and lush. A perfect retreat for sure.

This is a wonderful house, though guests should know that the kitchen is a little small for the number of people the house will sleep. A bigger issue was the construction going on next door and the very limited parking area that the house will have once the second home is completed and in use. On several occasions, construction vehicles partially blocked the turn and drive for Rustic Timbers. The first time this happened, I did not realize from the street that I would not be able to go up the hill and make the turn as usual. I started the turn, only to realize that I could not get past the front of the construction van. When the workers moved the van, I was unable to get traction to continue up the drive and my car slid back slowly about a foot, into the fence, damaging my left rear bumper.

The cabin was beautiful! The moment we opens the door we were blown away by the view we saw. The cabin had more than enough room for our family. The kids loved the bunk beds downstairs. We definitely didn’t need to fight for a bathroom, each room had its own. The balcony was a great hangout place morning, lunch, or dinner...we are definitely planning to come back.

Property had everything we were looking for. Luckily there wasn't any snow or ice during our January stay otherwise the very steep driveway would've been insurmountable...but that's what it takes to get the great mountain views!

This was a perfect house for a week in Montreat during the fall. Beautiful views from the front porch. A very comfortable house for a crowd with bedroom spread over three floors.
